As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

So far we have the names that I like (Leo, Jack, Arlo, Harry) and thr names DP likes (Dominic, Jaxon)

I really don't like names that can be shortened so finding it tough with boys names as 95% of them can be!

IamC · 02/01/2021 22:11

@OnNaturesCourse I don't mind nicknames, but the names my husband likes have terrible nicknames, so I feel your pain!

Safxxx · 02/01/2021 22:42

@OnNaturesCourse can't go wrong with LEO 👍🏼

babydust2412 · 03/01/2021 08:42

@OnNaturesCourse such cute names you have picked out xx
My baby boy has had a name since we found out he was a boy, his name is Avery 💙

Muriel84 · 03/01/2021 09:06

Aww lovely names everyone. That’s funny you feel that way @OnNaturesCourse. I can’t do anything with my name and I feel totally drawn to names you can play about with! We’ve had a boy and girls name picked out for a long while, before the pregnancy even. Just going to see if it works when it’s born.

I’m sure this has already been discussed but anyone got any recommendations for hospital bag snacks? I’m planning on M&S veggie Colin the caterpillars and some sort of orange fizzy drink cos both these things have saved me during this pregnancy. Also some flapjacks. Will make sandwiches I’d have time. Any other suggestions? I’m guessing partners aren’t allowed to pop out during long labour etc cos of Covid?

babydust2412 · 03/01/2021 10:12

@Muriel84 I'm packing plain snacks and cereal bars, bits like that, no foods that will make me nauseous basically, and lots of lucozade 😂❤️ xx

Stef92 · 03/01/2021 11:39

I'm going to sort out plans for snacks etc when I finish work at the beginning of Feb - I will be 36 weeks then. I don't think partners can leave the room whilst you're in labour for snacks etc so remember to pack for him too. There's a costa at our hospital downstairs from maternity so I might get him to get us some warm drinks on his way in 😂

Safxxx · 03/01/2021 13:01

I'll be taking some plain snacks...cereal bars/pringles/lucozade or soft drinks...i always buy my kids chocolate croissants individually wrapped 8 in a pack which they take to school for a breaktime snack. (from Aldi) there ideal i'll take few of them too.
Our maternity side cafe is closed, but on the other entrance thru A&E its one opened for hot drinks/food/snacks, so will see if hubby can leave and eat/drink something. (i heard they are allowed to leave for short breaks)
Given the circumstances and time, will take bananas/grapes (my fav) on the day.
Just take what you fancy ladies, as long as its not perishable lol.

Muriel84 · 03/01/2021 15:49

Aw thanks for the advice. Pringles are a good shout! We’ve been through so many tubes this Christmas...

My hospitals in central London so lots of shops and coffee places near by but don’t know the rules for popping out. The main part of the hospital is being turned into a huge Covid ITU for north London... I’m not even sure if their coffee shop is open. Fortunately maternity is in a separate wing. X x x

IamC · 03/01/2021 16:50

@Muriel84 excellent shout on the veggie Colins! I wonder if I'll be allowed sugar in labour with the GD? Gonna get some just in case.

Safxxx · 03/01/2021 18:54

@IamC to heck with what they allow if you want sugar you have sugar lol
We need all the energy on the day Xx

Safxxx · 03/01/2021 18:59

Today my tummy feels so tight and hard. Very uncomfortable. Also the pressure in my bum is immense (not sure if baby is pushing down, or its my piles) either way sitting down is painful lol
I'm using soft cusion to sit and slouch.

Char41zam · 03/01/2021 21:13

@Safxxx I’m having a pressure in the area kinda day too! Had a bath earlier and my tummy was like alien hehe she keeps flipping round from side to side and my back is also in bits

Newmumfeb2021 · 03/01/2021 21:52

Hello@Safxxx and @Char41zam just joined this thread - due 27 Feb with my first! 😊 and went through all the messages that I could possibly get through today

Funny I’m having similar problem as you both have described. On my right abdomen feeling like tightening. A lot of pain in the middle back as well. But I guess just growing pains.

Safxxx · 03/01/2021 22:40

@@Newmumfeb2021 Hi congrats, welcome to the thread 😍
Yeah i guess its all growing pains, very uncomfortable....this last stage is and will be more testing. Xxx

Char41zam · 04/01/2021 01:45

Hey ladies, having a lot of tightening tonight and baby has hiccups so no sleep for me!

Char41zam · 04/01/2021 01:46

Welcome @Newmumfeb2021!

IamC · 04/01/2021 02:10

@Char41zam I can't sleep either. Got the most restless legs and can't get comfy tonight.

Char41zam · 04/01/2021 02:22

@IamC now I have bad heartburn! Gosh this is torture, I have been trying to sleep for hours now

IamC · 04/01/2021 02:25

Typical, it's the night before going back to work too. We'll be zombies tomorrow!

Char41zam · 04/01/2021 02:44

That’s me off on holidays now thank god then my Matty leave starts in 2 weeks, I don’t think I could cope with work the lack of sleep I am getting

Safxxx · 04/01/2021 08:16

I've not had much sleep either, the tightening around the stomach since yesterday is continuing, most of the babies movements even hurt....i think i'll run a bath later to relax my muscles, which are aching all over.

jbx10 · 04/01/2021 08:17

@Safxxx I've had the same this past few days. Tummy feeling very tight and the pressure is getting more. I've been suffering from piles too and just seem to be getting them back under control - just as the pressure building again!!

Anyone else struggling to get up to go back to work?? 😫 maternity leave countdown is on, 4 weeks to go for me.. when does everyone else finish xxx

wannabe123 · 04/01/2021 08:40

@jbx10 I am supposed to be back today for 3 weeks but was advised by my consultant to work from home as the risk of catching covid was too high.

jbx10 · 04/01/2021 08:52

@wannabe123 oh that's good that you are able to WFH 😊. I have been so grateful to be WFH throughout pregnancy - definitely not missing the 2hrs of commuting every day! Nice that we can keep our selves comfortable for the last few weeks xx
