As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@jbx10 definitely, although as a teacher I am gutted to not be able to say goodbye to everyone, including my lovely class, properly but baby is definitely now the priority and keeping him safe has to be number 1.

jbx10 · 04/01/2021 08:59

@wannabe123 oh no that is a shame 😞 but your right you & baby are priority and your keeping you both safe ❤️

Newmumfeb2021 · 04/01/2021 09:28

I have 7 weeks to go before my Mat leave! Good thing is I’m WFH - from my bed 😂 most of the time due to utter laziness and discomfort of the work chair.

jbx10 · 04/01/2021 09:41

@Newmumfeb2021 sounds perfect. I have so many cushions/pillows at my desk now it's a bit crazy. Any zoom meetings they must think I'm crazy 😂

pampero · 04/01/2021 10:20

I think now the new year has hit im in full on wind down mode at work even though I've plenty to be doing & still got 5 weeks of working 🤣 Getting motivated is tough, especially after time off being lazy at Christmas!

Stef92 · 04/01/2021 10:27

I finish on the 1st Feb as have 9 days holiday carried over from last years annual leave that I want to make sure I don't lose whilst on maternity. I'm WFH due to Covid so could've gone on for another or so as not due until the 23rd Feb but we are having the garage converted at the beginning of next month so probs wouldve struggled to concentrate with the noise

Muriel84 · 04/01/2021 10:39

Hi @Newmumfeb2021 👋

I’ve been working from home since august going completely nutso. Just two weeks left until I go on annual leave and then mat leave from the 27th when I’ll be 38 weeks. Could not have worked that late if wasn’t wfh!

I am so uncomfortable the last day or so. Combination of can’t breathe, constant heartburn and nausea. Also planning on going to work from bed shortly once morning zoom meetings are over. Baby’s head is rammed right under my ribs. There’s no room to breathe or eat 😭 x x x

wannabe123 · 04/01/2021 11:11

@Muriel84 I can fully sympathise with baby in the ribs! It's so uncomfortable!

pampero · 04/01/2021 11:28

@Muriel84 baby in the ribs seems to be a favourite nesting spot for mine too!

Newmumfeb2021 · 04/01/2021 11:47

@jbx10 lol same :P

@Muriel84 ohno, I think mine has turned over Christmas so I get kicked in the ribs and since after Christmas my breathing has improved significantly.

OnNaturesCourse · 04/01/2021 13:37

I honestly can't tell what way mine is lol sometimes I feel like he is kicking my ribs, the rest it feels like his head is stuck under them...or he is, what feels like, headbutting my pelvic bone (like right now, DP driving and every bump on the road is sending shooting pains up the way)

Made a good start on the hospital bag yesterday, and got a lot of the stuff ready for boy to arrive. Getting real now the cribs are set up and carseat is ready!

jbx10 · 04/01/2021 13:47

@Muriel84 I finish 29th jan I think I'll be 37 weeks then so could have gone a bit longer but I thought it'd be nice to have a little break and enjoy the calm before the storm!! I'm working on my handover at the moment so whilst I have zero motivation that's ok because i dont really have to do anything other than talk them through what to do 😂

jbx10 · 04/01/2021 13:51

@OnNaturesCourse I would be exactly the same if it wasn't for the growth scans. I ask them to talk me through exactly where she is so then I can tell what is moving/kicking/punching. It is getting w bit clearer though when she is poking her foot right out of my side 😂

Good work with your hospital bag! It's nice to get those jobs done & feel more organised. I've just had a batch of huge black briefs and big t shirts delivered that I'll definitely be packing xx

Muriel84 · 04/01/2021 14:28

I only know where mine is from the scan last week! And cos it’s really uncomfortable leaning to the right. Wish it would turn round 😭

@jbx10 I hear you. I have noooo motivation. I cba to do anything. I have so much annual leave left cos there was no point taking it wfh in lockdown so have left it till the end to tag onto mat leave. If the baby comes late I’ll have a fun few weeks sat in our tiny flat with nothing to do while my partner works from home 😬 really hope we get some news on moving dates soon! Be so so good to move before the baby comes.

I managed to get some massive black pants in primark before all the shops close. I have a roomy oversize t shirt from H&M too. Think I have all the bits for my hospital bag(s) just need to put them together. Something to do this weekend! X x x

jbx10 · 04/01/2021 18:52

@Muriel84 I'm doing the same as you. I have accrued a lot of annual leave that I'm going to tag on to the end of my mat leave which gives me a good last couple of months paid too which will be nice. Ohh I have my fingers crossed for you that you hear back soon!! Is the place your moving to close to where you live now? Hopefully it's not too far and moving all your things go smoothly! I'm going to try do all her washing this week and finish the hospital bags over the weekend.

I can't believe we're all having our babies next month!! It's surreal. Has anyone started to think about their birthing plans yet? Xx

Safxxx · 04/01/2021 18:54

Mine is mostly lying across the middle or is diagnol with head down and kicks in the ribs.

Safxxx · 04/01/2021 18:59

@jbx10 i know time is ticking away...depending on how my pelvic pains are i intend to go as natural as possible, with only Gas & Air for pain relief.
(Just like in my previous labours)
But if pelvic pains are bad, midwife did suggest a water birth for relief, so its a option i might take if needed.

Safxxx · 04/01/2021 19:07

One thing i forgot to buy is disposable briefs...i used them last time was good as they do get soiled as blood flow is heavy for a few days....i've already bought big size pants..but will get disposable to use in first few days.

jbx10 · 04/01/2021 19:19

@Safxxx that's what I'm hoping too gas & air with a water birth. But not ruling anything out if I need it! First baby too so I just don't know how I'll be able to cope until I'm going through it. How has your pelvic pain been over the passed couple of days?

I heard the same thing so just bought a pack of disposable briefs too!

Safxxx · 04/01/2021 19:52

@jbx10 pelvic pains are on/off, it totaly depends on the triggers, the baby or walking or household chores....
But this stomach tightness had gripped me big time... not comfortable at all

Safxxx · 04/01/2021 20:03

Honestly feel so unmotivated lately, with the aches/pains, not sleeping much so feel drained half the time....i've got everything i need but just not got the energy to pack my hospital bag...everyday i say to myself i'll do it today, but then the day passes by 🙄

Safxxx · 04/01/2021 20:34

Another National Lockdown 🙄
In one way its good for me no more school runs (that i definetely needed) as driving is a mission these days.
But i hope hospital rules don't get any more stricter 🙄

Newmumfeb2021 · 04/01/2021 20:50

@Muriel84 good luck with your house move!

@jbx10 first baby here as well! 😊 I’m terrified about labour pain (having read some horror stories) and more anxious at the thought of pain! Maybe I’ll just cope with it when time comes. But the thought really freaks me out sometimes.

@Safxxx I get pains on the sides of my pelvis as well. It’s so frustrating as I can’t lie on my either side and lying down on back is out of question. Considering this national lockdown - Do you think partners will still be allowed during labour and delivery next month? I’m worried as I don’t want to be in a hospital alone!

Stef92 · 04/01/2021 21:05

I've just read this that birthing partners can meet in larger groups so I assume that means they'll be allowed to attend - obviously it'll be down to each trusts discretion. My health visitor told me to ring the hospital a week or so before due date to get clarity on the rules x

Due February 2021 - Part 2
Safxxx · 04/01/2021 21:20

@Newmumfeb2021 i hope you feel better soon...as for hospital i'm sure they will still be allowed in labour and delivery.
But if they keep us in longer and move us to a ward, then no ones allowed to visit wards.
Lets hope were all good as to go from the labour ward.
As staying in any longer will be isolation 😢
With my last child i had to stay a week, only thing that kept me going was the visits from family/friends.
