As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

OP posts:

@Stef92 just logged into my boots account and the offers are there. Thanks Xx

IamC · 08/12/2020 21:04

The most nerve wracking thing for me is not knowing when we're going to 'pop' - some come early some come late but the window is so wide. I wish with every pregnancy you got a scratch card with your personal due date on 😂

Char41zam · 08/12/2020 21:17

@iamc I wish too!! Especially this time around

OnNaturesCourse · 09/12/2020 00:36

@Muriel84 yep, been terrible... Now they've mucked up my scam to check the placenta too. Was meant to be around 34 weeks as with my first pregnancy I'd have likely went into labour early (dilating at 36 odd weeks and induced at 37 something) but my scan hasn't been booked until I'm over 37 weeks. They are pretty certain baby will be on way by then but I've just to wait and see, which I find ridiculous.

OnNaturesCourse · 09/12/2020 00:46

@Char41zam

Hope so *@Safxxx* like I say I have huge anxiety I don’t like the hospital they want me to go to it’s in Dundee and my sister gave birth there and had a couple of bad experiences but hopefully it’s not the same for me, I will get induced 38-39 weeks so they are leaving me as long as possible so that it’s hopefully just a case of breaking my water but I have only ever went naturally before so I’m really apprehensive x
@char41zam I was induced with my first. Is it the process you are worried about, or the hospital? (or both since you're like me lol)
Muriel84 · 09/12/2020 08:57

@OnNaturesCourse wow. That’s absolutely nuts I’m sorry. I was due a growth scan at 36 weeks but it was moved forward to 34 cos my placenta is low, which makes sense...

OnNaturesCourse · 09/12/2020 09:15

@Muriel84 I'd love a scan at 34 weeks but I think the problem is that falls right over Christmas. I wonder if a private scan could check it for me as I'd be tempted to buy one...

Muriel84 · 09/12/2020 09:25

@OnNaturesCourse yeah mines the 30th December. Could speak to a private clinic and see? Just ridiculous though because the hospital should be checking... x

Char41zam · 09/12/2020 10:22

@OnNaturesCourse yep both! Never been induced and had my other 3 kids in England this is the first baby in Scotland and I don’t like the hospital it’s so far from home too, just going to have to relax about it the best I can because that’s what’s happening

babydust2412 · 09/12/2020 11:08

Fallen off the thread a little sorry ladies xx
I agree with you all, the third trimester is no picnic, I'm so uncomfy 24/7 at the moment it's not nice x
I can't believe how unorganised some of your midwifery services are, I feel for you guys that must cause so much unnecessary stress on you during an already stressful time ❤️
I've seen my midwife every few weeks for antenatal appointments x

babydust2412 · 09/12/2020 11:09

Also agree the bounty packs are not good 😩 one of them you can collect from Asda and that one was the best I had, Asda give you extras boots don't, I got 2 packs of newborn nappies, a cute little bodysuit and all sorts inside too x

Safxxx · 09/12/2020 11:24

I collected Emma's diary packs from boots, which had hardly anything in it, and picked bounty pack from Tesco.
They had a newborn size nappy pack in it and some sample creams, and vitamin sample.
Back in the day I used to get more in it, they used to include baby towel, fabric softener/detergent tabs, full size nappy creams etc

@Muriel84 I spoke to the midwife unit today and apparently my scan should be between 34&36 weeks but a delay because of covid means the earliest is when I am 37 weeks unless its emergency. I kinda think me potentially going into early labour with a low placenta could be an emergency? But they just say if that happens they will scan me when it happens so I could end up with an emergency csection which totally freaks me out. I have voiced my opinion that I'd rather have a earlier scan and if need be get scheduled in for a csection around 38 weeks so I least have a idea in my head and a plan in place for DC1 around that time, but honestly they were not interested. It was a case of this is what we are doing so you'll go along with it. Not very happy if I'm being honest, and definitely considering a private scan - but it's a expensive we can't really afford just now.

OnNaturesCourse · 09/12/2020 14:17

@char41zam Sounds ridiculous but I'd try not to worry. (i know, probably the worse thing to say!)

Is there any option of you choosing a different hospital? I put my foot down and refused to go to my local hospital, so I'm going to one that's further away - they are still trying to sway me into the local hospital but there's no way.

I know not everyone has that choice though.

In terms of the induction, look at it this way atleast you'll have a rough date in mind instead of just waiting. My induction wasn't planned the first time. I went in with reduced movements and it turned out I was contracting without feeling them and dilating, so they kept me in and induced me to hurry it along. One thing I'll say though is inductions tend to be a longer process. I was dilating already and it still took another 3 days to birth DC HOWEVER that could be because she was back to back and so twisted in her cord that I had to get forceps. She basically was using her cord as a bungee cord.

Muriel84 · 09/12/2020 14:34

@OnNaturesCourse that sounds like a completely back to front way of doing things! Can you escalate it to someone more senior? It’s unfortunate that the people who shout the most get the most, but what else are you meant to do, just sit around and worry?? Going into early labour with a low placenta is definitely an emergency. X x x

OnNaturesCourse · 09/12/2020 18:01

@Muriel84 we are going to look at booking private. That was the consultant I spoke with earlier and she honestly came across as not giving two hoots. Kept saying I was induced with my first, even after I explained I was induced but I was already in the early stages of natural labour... She even told me I was induced at 38 weeks even after I said I gave birth at 38 weeks but labour was started at 37.

Char41zam · 09/12/2020 18:33

@OnNaturesCourse what a nightmare! I have been unhappy with my local mw but the hospital I go to for my growth scans have been good, it’s so crap when they come across like they don’t care and your basically just a number not reassuring at all for you x

babydust2412 · 09/12/2020 22:35

Have any of you started to feel pressure/aches around down below 😩 sorry for tmi just notice it now when I mmm mmm walking at times and things x

babydust2412 · 09/12/2020 22:36

Don't know where all those ms came from haha meant *im walking

OnNaturesCourse · 09/12/2020 22:39

@babydust2412 I get it sometimes if I'm on my feet a long time, or I've been lying / sitting too long. Does depend on where baby's head is pushing though. Right now for example, I'm sat on the sofa with my feet up and my ehrm exit area has a throb and my braxton hicks are on and off... But it'll pass, hopefully, in 20 minutes or so.

babydust2412 · 09/12/2020 22:44

@OnNaturesCourse glad it's not just me x
My midwife says baby is likely head down and he was on my last scan so it's probably his head in my pelvis, little munchkin 😂💙

Muriel84 · 09/12/2020 22:46

I just got a pain so sharp in my bum it woke me up. Baby giving my bum a good kick/head butt? I’m still not sure what way up it is...

@OnNaturesCourse it’s great that your consultant remembers what happened with your last baby better than you do 🙄 I guess maybe it’s reassuring she’s not worried?? Hope the private scan isn’t expensive and will hopefully give you peace of mind. X x x

OnNaturesCourse · 09/12/2020 23:01

Yeh my little one is head down too, or was a few days ago and I don't feel he has changed...still got a foot in my rib lol

Safxxx · 10/12/2020 00:04

@babydust2412 Yep relatable, been getting it for the last week or so more....

Char41zam · 10/12/2020 01:01

I keep getting like shooting lightening pains in my bits if I have been walking to long it’s horrible, she isn’t head down yet either last scan her head was up near my ribs, god knows how it will be when she is head down
