As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

OP posts:

I've hit the panic button 😩

Blood pressure reading of 144/89 at midwife today, then 130/88 second time round.

I take my blood pressure at home usually and it was 108/77 this morning.

Midwife was happy to take my home reading and wasn't concerned saying its common for it go up in medical places, and I had no protein in my urine.

However I've got home and now I'm sat thinking between that reading, my rib pain and swollen fingers could it be pre eclampsia starting?

Blood pressure and heart disease run my family which is why I monitor it at home.

I know it's completely ridiculous probably but this is where my head is going today 😭

Last readings on my pregnancy chart are 132/82, 124/84, 129/71, 132/87 but my home average is 112/73.

Eugh. Health anxiety is crap.

Char41zam · 08/12/2020 13:25

I have health anxiety too @OnNaturesCourse and I have a home blood pressure monitor too which I now have to do 2 readings a week to put on a system called flo because anytime they do it at the hospital it is really high! But my average readings at home are 137/84 but when they do it it can be 150/ 95 and even higher! The longer I sit there the more it comes down, I have massive health anxiety and clinical settings make it so much worse, and this pregnancy with my diabetes high bp, uti thrush and now anemia it’s been so hard! I totally get your worries xx

OnNaturesCourse · 08/12/2020 13:42

Stupidly I took it agsin just now and it's 129/87 so it's still up but I know that's likely because I'm worrying like crazy.

Sounds horrible but I'm glad it's not just me

Safxxx · 08/12/2020 13:56

@Char41zam I know, as much as these little munchkins cause so much discomfort I wouldn't change it for the world 🌍
Their a blessing to us, I'm in love with him more and more each day ❤

Safxxx · 08/12/2020 14:00

@OnNaturesCourse I'm sure if it was bad your midwife would have taken more action...if she's not concerned..then relax you will be fine. Rest up and drink plenty Xxx

Char41zam · 08/12/2020 14:14

@Safxxx I wouldn’t change it for anything either but she is definitely my last I think my age doesn’t do my body any favours, there is a big difference having a baby in your 20’s then your 40’s I am feeling it massively and can’t wait for my body back but so can’t wait to hold and love her 🥰 @OnNaturesCourse the whole thing with anxiety is knowing your not alone it helps a lot I have a lot of anxiety around going in to get induced too it’s tiring feeling like that xx

Stef92 · 08/12/2020 14:21

@OnNaturesCourse I get white coat hypertension, it's quite common especially when we are already nervous about it. When I was on the pill they made me record two readings at home everyday for a week and were happy to take those readings ahead of what they got on the BP machine in the surgery. If they were concerned the midwife would've mentioned something to you. If you are worried, give them a call x

OnNaturesCourse · 08/12/2020 14:26

Honestly, I thibk the whole not having a plan isn't helping.

I went into the midwife today, at 30 weeks, and she had no idea why I was booked in for 30 weeks stating "everything was done at 28 weeks". I told her I hadn't been seen at 28 weeks, hasn't been seen since October. She went back and said "oh right, well we will measure you and take your blood pressure then that's it". I reminded her that I had bloods to be taken (I'd been told to drink lots the previous time I was in) So she went back to her notes saying no, they've been done... But turns out it was my bloods from my early pregnancy so I was right, and the bloods were drawn.

Then she said so you've got a scan in January for your placenta.. I told her I was aware one was being booked but hadn't been given a date. Turns out the date was given ages ago but I hadn't been told.

Then she wasnt able to book in my next midwife appointment cos the diary wasn't open for January so I'm waiting on her phoning.

I told the midwife I had been given a letter about a phone call with a maternity team but didn't know why. She didn't know either, but said it was because I was consultant lead... First I'd heard of it. I asked why and she didn't know why. I wasn't consultant lead with my first and nothing has changed.

So all this isn't helping my anxiety.

Safxxx · 08/12/2020 15:22

@OnNaturesCourse No wonder your on edge...their so disorganised. Pregnancy causes fog brain as it is, this situation is not helping. Hopefuly they sort it out and keep you updated. Xxx

Safxxx · 08/12/2020 15:26

@Char41zam why are you going to be induced? And how early?
You probably have already mentioned it but I've got fog brain lol

OnNaturesCourse · 08/12/2020 16:08

Yeh and to make it worse they phoned with my next appointment, and mentioned that they haven't given me my anti d jag... So booked that in for next week, then got another call to say I'm over 30 weeks so they can't do it. They then tried to give me an appointment at the hospital tomorrow, at the same time as my maternity phone call... Then just said oh its fine just go up after (late).

Three phone calls I've had since my appointment today.

Char41zam · 08/12/2020 17:47

@OnNaturesCourse I have never seen my love midwife since booking at 7 weeks she was supposed to do my bloods at 28 weeks never contacted me and now turns out I’m anemic! So the hospital were not happy at all and have told her to get her finger out and she has now booked to see me on the 23rd but I find it appalling that she will be the one that comes to see me when I have had baby and I don’t know her at all! @Safxxx because of my diabetes they will have to book me for induction because I live rural so already 20 miles from the hospital I go to every 4 weeks but they don’t have the facilities for a higher risk pregnancy so the one I will actually give birth in is 40 odd miles away so they will book me in, also baby has to have her sugars monitored when she is born so that will be done there too x

Char41zam · 08/12/2020 17:47

Local not love lol

Char41zam · 08/12/2020 18:16

Oh and ladies I meant to say I know someone mentioned about the free packs and I said Emma’s diary does them, well what a complete and utter waste of time they are, picked them up from boots and the best thing in there was a bepanthan cream! I remember with my others you got the bounty packs and you used to get loads of stuff and vouchers off but not now x

Stef92 · 08/12/2020 18:19

@Char41zam I picked up a bounty pack yesterday from boots and there was next to nothing in it. Boots have free stuff on the advantage card - childs farm stuff and a bottle/soother, they had no bottles left when I went yesterday

Char41zam · 08/12/2020 18:27

Oh I didn’t know that @Stef92 I have an advantage card so will check when I next go in, do you have to register or anything or do you just go to the till and ask?

Safxxx · 08/12/2020 18:29

@Char41zam Ah Ok, you got a challenge ahead of you with the distance, I do hope all goes well for you, and you get to give birth to a healthy baby girl ❤
Can't believe your midwife don't make no effort taking care of you, don't know if it's due to covid or what but I also find their not offering the same care level as before.
The Appts are always rushed and minimum conversation.
I dread to think what will happen during the birth and the time at hospital.
But anyways let's not stress over it, take each day as it comes and enjoy the pregnancy while it lasts.
I'm sure everything will be ok when the time comes ❤

Char41zam · 08/12/2020 18:36

Hope so @Safxxx like I say I have huge anxiety I don’t like the hospital they want me to go to it’s in Dundee and my sister gave birth there and had a couple of bad experiences but hopefully it’s not the same for me, I will get induced 38-39 weeks so they are leaving me as long as possible so that it’s hopefully just a case of breaking my water but I have only ever went naturally before so I’m really apprehensive x

Safxxx · 08/12/2020 18:37

I've also got a boots advantage card and have signed upto the baby club for the extra 8 points.
But not come across any freebies.
I agree back in the day they had more in packs then now!!

Safxxx · 08/12/2020 18:50

@Char41zam if everything was fine with your other births....then try to remain positive, never know it might just work in your favour and you give birth naturally. Miracles do happen 😘
With my last one he was a month premature, I was told on the day they don't have any cots available at the special care unit if needed, they were phoning around all over England to have me admitted and said if needed we will take you by air ambulance.
At the time only my waters had broken I wasn't in labour...i was petrified and hoped for the best as I didn't want to go too far from home, while they were trying to get me a place I was praying I give birth only here...within a couple of hours my pain was intensifying, they checked I was 6cm dialated, so they said madam your not going anywhere your giving birth here...oh my days what a relief within 2hrs or so I had my baby boy, and he was perfect didn't even need to be taken to neonatal ward.
So stay positive and hope for the best ❤

Stef92 · 08/12/2020 19:34

@Char41zam you need to sign up to the parenting club which gives you more points to the pound and if you get the app you should be able to load offers to your card which includes the freebies. I found the child farm stuff on the shelf but they told me the bottle can be asked for at the till but there was none left

@Safxxx do you have the app for the advantage card? They give you personalised offers and when I signed up to the parenting club the free stuff was there

Muriel84 · 08/12/2020 19:59

@Stef92 oooh thanks just checked and the vouchers are on my advantage card! I expect the boots near me will have run out though.

@OnNaturesCourse I can’t believe how awful they’ve been! As if they missed your anti d jab, that’s terrible! X x x

Safxxx · 08/12/2020 19:59

@Stef92 No I don't have the app. I'll get it then will see. Thanks Xxx

Char41zam · 08/12/2020 20:02

@Safxxx aww I’m glad all worked out for you, do they know why you went early? Yeah I will try to stay positive about it and it will all work out xx

Safxxx · 08/12/2020 20:30

@Char41zam No cause, my pregnancy was going well thru out. At 36wks my waters broke unexpectedly, and I had him same day.
Other 2 kids were days within there due dates.
Will see when this little one will make he's entry Xxx
