As the other thread was about to be full, I thought it made sense to make part 2!

OP posts:

@Char41zam I take Pregnacare daily, which includes iron, I was told tday my levels are ok...i don't eat red meat too often, look up on other options which are iron rich. I usually try to include green veg such as spinach, nuts/fruit, eggs and dates etc. You will need a supplement to boost it and do include iron rich foods in your diet.Xx

@Muriel84 why are you worried over the size of head? Is it small or big lol
Just wait till you see the baby in your arms it will be perfect Xxx

Vicalam · 03/12/2020 18:11

Hi new on here but due 16th feb. I had a call from midwife yesterday to say my iron levels are low so getting prescribed iron supplements, apart from vitamin d I haven't been taking any other supplements. I do have a good a varied diet, was hoping to avoid iron tablets but I guess that's just the way it goes.

Has everyone else been taking supplements, it was never mentioned by the midwife.

Char41zam · 03/12/2020 18:13

I had been taking vitamin d and folic acid at the start but as I’m on metformin and aspirin I found it all to much, now I will add iron to the list! I will look at iron rich food thanks ladies x

Muriel84 · 03/12/2020 19:41

@Safxxx big head! Unfortunately...

I take vit d and folic acid. And I started a vit b complex because I had cracks in the corner of my mouth which seemed to have now cleared up. X x x

pampero · 03/12/2020 21:27

I've been taking those pregnancare daily type tablets too, had bloods taken yesterday so will wait to see how the iron levels are!

babydust2412 · 04/12/2020 14:01

I've been taking pregnacare too, the ones that are for throughout pregnancy xx

IamC · 04/12/2020 14:48

Well my pregnancy gets more eventful by the week. On my twice weekly check up at the PAU today I told them about my horrid rib pain, and so they got a doctor who said it's either muscular or a blood clot....!

They have to rule the latter out as it could be fatal, which has meant having tests with radiation which then carry risks to the baby.

Tough decision but we decided to have the tests. Well two of them, they can't get me in for the third until Monday.

Bit of a rollercoaster today. Finally home and I'm going to bed for a bit!

Safxxx · 04/12/2020 15:23

@IamC I do hope it's not a clot. Wishing you the best, Hopefuly it gets better soon Xxx

Char41zam · 04/12/2020 15:49

@IamC hope all is ok, take it easy

pampero · 04/12/2020 15:57

@IamC take it easy and we'll keep fingers crossed its the muscular outcome x

Muriel84 · 05/12/2020 10:21

@IamC Poor you that’s really rubbish. Have they put you on blood thinning injections over the weekend? If you’ve not had any other symptoms it is most probably muscular and at least you will get a definitive answer Monday. X x x

jbx10 · 05/12/2020 11:43

@IamC sorry to hear hopefully it isn't a clot. Hope all goes well with your tests next week xx

My next appointment is at 30 weeks face to face with midwife & then growth scan the week after at 31 weeks to check if she's still measuring a small weight xx

IamC · 05/12/2020 17:02

@Muriel84 yes I have got those to take at 12 hour intervals which means a 1am injection, but I soon discovered I'm a complete wuss and couldn't inject myself (I can just about cope with the finger prick for the GD) so had to go see a midwife to do it for me first thing.

She also taught the husband how to do it so hopefully tonight will be better 😂

When I spoke to the PAU in the night after my failure, she read my notes aloud and it does sound like it's a very slim chance so I have everything crossed it's just muscular.

Char41zam · 05/12/2020 22:20

Hey ladies those of you who have taken iron, is it normal for you to feel sick at first after taking it? Took my first tablet this evening and I feel sick as anything! Not nice at all 😕

Safxxx · 05/12/2020 23:24

@Char41zam only effects I get from it is constipation and the poo is darker.
My daughter was low in iron, she was prescribed 1 tab twice a day..due to constipation she takes it once a day or the other day.
If you feel sick maybe reduce the dosage Xxx

Char41zam · 06/12/2020 00:00

@Safxxx it is just one a day because I have already had major constipation so the consultant doesn’t want me to get even worse, gosh the things we have to go through eh, I am just drinking plenty of water seems to be helping a bit xx

Muriel84 · 06/12/2020 08:20

@Char41zam it often makes people feel really sick unfortunately. Are you taking it on an empty tum? Could try having a biscuit with it? Or some orange juice? It’s a really unpleasant tablet to take which is rubbish cos it’s so important 🙁x x x

Char41zam · 06/12/2020 09:30

@Muriel84 I took it after food with some orange juice, that’s what they advised but felt sick for hours after 😕 hopefully as my body gets used to it I won’t feel as sick, it’s definetly needed so I will have to persevere with it

OnNaturesCourse · 06/12/2020 20:32

@IamC I hope you're okay, and that the outcome is postive... I can't imagine how you are feeling. I had rib pain this week too but they automatically put it down to muscle pain, it was like a bruised feeling?

OnNaturesCourse · 06/12/2020 20:34

Has anyone given any thought to baby names yet?

DP and I are completely drawing a blank!

Muriel84 · 06/12/2020 21:04

@Stef92 how was your anti d jab??

@OnNaturesCourse were pretty happy with boys names, but finding it hard to choose a girls name! It’s so tough. X x x

OnNaturesCourse · 06/12/2020 21:10

@Muriel84 with our first we didn't know the gender and had the boys name set in stone, and a list of maybe names for a girl... We had a girl and she was named in under 5 seconds of me laying eyes on her. She named herself really.

This time we had our girls name set in stone, and have now found out its a boy. Typical lol.

Stef92 · 06/12/2020 21:14

@Muriel84 the jab was fine, thank you. They said I should've had a dead arm but has nothing so far! Took them ages to see me!

@IamC I hope everything is ok and you get good news :)

We've (I've chosen) the name for our little man. Hubby said he would only veto if he hated it and he doesn't hate what I've picked!!

Char41zam · 06/12/2020 21:15

@OnNaturesCourse we have our name, my daughter chose it xx

Muriel84 · 06/12/2020 21:21

@OnNaturesCourse aww that’s what we’re hoping for!

@Stef92 that’s good! I didn’t get a dead arm but I swore when it went in! Most painful jab I’ve had. I apologised lots!

We have lots of names we like but nothing we’re completely sold on for a girl. We’ll see. I was hoping we’d have thought of a girls name we really love by now like we do for a boy! X x x
