Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@MrsMcNtobe I’m in Glasgow (NHS GCC) and I phoned the midwife booking appointment number (link below has all the numbers for areas that it applies to) at 5 weeks. I was on hold for 30 minutes but I was booked in for both my booking appointment (at 10 weeks) and my 12 scan (which is actually when I’ll be 13 weeks).

Not sure why the midwife said phone back at 6 weeks because as far as I’m aware it is recommended you phone as soon as you know to ensure you can be seen at the appropriate times.

Anyway, here is the link, hopefully there is a number for your area (if you are in NHS GCC the number is there):

@Gennia I was on hold forever aswell! I was a bit taken aback when they told me just to call back at 6 weeks as if I didn’t matter or my baby doesn’t matter til that time (hormonal 😂) I will defo try ringing again tomorrow though, thanks so much!

Gennia · 11/01/2021 20:27

@MrsMcNtobe ah sorry for assuming you didn’t phone that number. Can’t believe they wouldn’t book you in especially given how long the queues are!

Hopefully you will have better luck tomorrow. Smile

Gaxy1 · 12/01/2021 09:11

@MrsMcNtobe hope you get better luck today.

@CardiganBlobby

Thanks all for the suggestions. Sometimes I think I feel something but I can never be sure it's not wind Grin. I'm hopeful that I will start to recognise movements a lot more as the wee one gets a bit bigger in the next few weeks. My placenta is posterior so not really expecting anything else getting in the way of feeling something!

@Buttercup20 hope you get everything organised with the midwife soon - I have to admit I have never had contact details for a midwife. I think I would just phone the central number if I had to reach someone - perhaps there is that option for you too in case your midwife is not available?

I am the same, definitely feel things going on but not sure if it's 💨 because I've never concentrated on my stomach as much in my life haha. 18 weeks today so hoping that feelings become a little more defined and obvious soon!
BabyBumpIncoming · 12/01/2021 12:10

@Gaxy1

Have any of you started buying for the baby yet? I’m 17 weeks but have been more preoccupied sorting the house. Not sure when’s the best time to do the buying of the big things eg pram etc.
I've not bought anything yet 🙈 and got the exact same gear as you when friends were asking me. Also had people offering hand me downs which is lovely but I don't even know what we need yet! I was planning on waiting until after the 20 week scan. Moving into a new house on Friday so hoping that once that is sorted I can get cracked on with baby things
Emsnewmum · 17/01/2021 13:22

Hi all,

Just wanted to start with congratulations to you all on your pregnancies.

Would it be ok to join this group? This is my first and I'm due july 9th!

So just over 15 weeks and due date feels forever away! Dont want to buy things too soon but I'm at home on Furlough so it's all too tempting to buy things !

X

Buttercup20 · 17/01/2021 13:57

@Emsnewmum congratulations 😊 I've found with furlough mines is actually going really quickly! I can't believe I'm half way! What about even having a look for stuff and making little lists and seeing where to get it cheaper so you can buy it once your a little further on 😊

Emsnewmum · 17/01/2021 21:33

@buttercup20

Thanks for the reply! I'm just impatient hehe. Yeah that's a good idea! With some things though (like buggies) there is just so much choice don't know where to start! I can't wait too look pregnant! I have an anterior placenta so I know il have to wait a while to feel any kicks!
I think once I get to my 20 week scan it will feel more real or at least that's what I keep telling myself! Oh nice that your half way have you had your scan?
X

Buttercup20 · 17/01/2021 22:17

@Emsnewmum I'm the exact same I just want to get everything now! We've already ordered our pram. We were quite overwhelmed but had a shot of a few prams and then went away with the little list and read reviews to help make our decision then went back the next day to order it.

I also have an anterior placenta, I felt little pinging movement at 18 weeks. I don't feel anything regularly yet but every so often I'll feel a little movement 😊 my scans a week tomorrow x

Symphony87 · 17/01/2021 23:46

Is anyone here in the Highlands? I seem to be blind but I can’t find Raigmore Hospital’s current covid rules around labour and birth. Just so I can be prepared, moving back home in three weeks and due in March so it could all change

Emsnewmum · 18/01/2021 00:33

@buttercup20 glad I'm not the only one hehe! I just need to think if I buy it all now I will have nothing to buy later!
Il be rubbish at looking for prams because i hate being asked if I need any help because then il feel I need to buy the firsr one I try! We have just bought some reusable nappies and bits for them so far.

Oh good luck for your scan next week! Are you going to find out what your having? X

Buttercup20 · 18/01/2021 15:22

@Emsnewmum Aww don't feel obligated to buy whatever its expensive and something you need to be happy with!

Yeah going to find out hopefully I always said I wouldn't but with everything that's going on I think it's best to know so we can be more organised with everything x
