I've not been very good at keeping up with the thread but I've requested to join the fb group, if that's ok!

rosegoldivy · 07/12/2020 21:31

Sorry to those who have already joined, just know from us chatting that not all of us check in here every day (or week) so I've just went to a previous role call and copied it and tagged everyone (I think, unless there is new people joined the thread since)

The private fb link is

No pressure to join. Just didn't want anyone to miss out joining if they wanted to

@bubblybrit - yes, time drags on so slowly! I felt getting to 12 weeks was the longest few months of my life! Especially when it came to getting scans/test results.... I feel it's such a long time til my due date aswell but lockdown sure doesn't help, been getting a bit down about it all.

I dunno if it's just me but does anyone else regret telling people their news at 12 weeks? Maybe it's just my hormones, I wish we'd kept the baby (and the sex) our little secret for a bit longer. I'm not even sure we should have found out the sex TBH but can't do anything about that now ha.

I can be quite private at times so maybe that's why I feel anxious about people knowing but on the other hand we also just wanted it out in the open as we had to keep making excuses for a couple of big things involving travel etc. I didn't even put it on social media (I'm not on FB) but news seems to travel fast! I think another reason for my "regret" is that I still worry about something going wrong and then having to tell all these people who were all so ecstatic for us...

Sorry for being grumpy today :) It appears I'm in a glass case of emotion ha ha! 😂

bubblybrit · 08/12/2020 10:08

@Wanderdust. I hate the first 12 weeks to be honest. I can’t let myself get excited until I see everything is ok at the scan and with the test results. Feel anxious each day 😥

We told my parents when I was 6 weeks with my first pregnancy. We then told them we were having a girl when we found out at 11 weeks through the NIPT. I’m not doing either this time round. Hoping to be able to tell them around Christmas when I’ll be approx 14 weeks (as should have the results of the NIPT back by then). I’m still undecided about finding out the sex this time round.

I’m a bit of a worrier to be honest so pregnancy drags in for me. I’m always nervous as each scan or appointment approaches. Only relax until baby is born. Then I have a whole host of other things to worry about 😂

Not very helpful but just wanted you to know that you aren’t alone!

CardiganBlobby · 08/12/2020 10:15

We only told our families this weekend @Wanderdust - we also enjoyed having this as our little secret to start but it was a lot of fun to see how excited everyone was.

@bubblybrit I think we will continue to worry about everything 'until the next scan' - the very brief relief I got at the 12 week scan is completely gone now at almost 16 weeks and I am desperate for the 20 week scan to learn that the baby is developing well. Definitely feels like time is dragging but I think once the new year is here things will feel a bit closer!

bubblybrit · 08/12/2020 10:31

@CardiganBlobby. I know what you mean. I was elated at my 12 week scan with my DD. By 12+1 I was already worrying about my 20 week scan. The worry is never ending!

Wanderdust · 08/12/2020 10:55

@bubblybrit thank you for your kind words, you sound exactly like me! It's comforting to know I'm not alone and like you, if I have another, I think I'd definitely rethink finding out early via the NIPT/telling folk straight away. But this is my first so everything is so new and confusing to me! I thought after the first scan/NIPT results, I'd relax (ha!). Got my 20 week scan letter through the post now I'm worrying about that as I don't feel particularly pregnant! I was one of those lucky/annoying people who had no morning sickness or tiredness, I keep joking he's one well behaved boy!

Yup, I think we can all agree that the worry is now never ending, pretty much as soon as you get that BFP right through til they're 18 plus 😂 Welcome to motherhood eh?!

Wanderdust · 08/12/2020 10:56

@bubblybrit when will you get your results do you think? Thinking of you!

bubblybrit · 08/12/2020 11:02

@Wanderdust. It’s completely understandable to tell everyone once 12 weeks have passed....especially with your first! Everything is so exciting 😀

I’m like you in relation to the sickness...haven’t had it in either of my pregnancies. Can feel a little nauseous if I don’t eat frequently but that’s about it. I make up for it with fatigue though lol 😂

My NIPT is booked for the 12th and they have said that results will be in within 7-10 working days. However last time I got the results within 5 days. Might need to wait the full timescale with COVID mind this time round 😢

I’m sure all will be well at 20 weeks. It’s lovely to see baby then as they actually look like a little human at that stage!

bubblybrit · 09/12/2020 11:08

Morning. Hope everyone is well.

Just wondering how long it took your blood test results to upload on the app...I got mine taken during my booking appointment on the 26th but the app is still saying results not published?

Buttercup20 · 09/12/2020 11:46

@bubblybrit what app do you use? I've not been advised of an app 🙁

bubblybrit · 09/12/2020 12:08

@Buttercup20. My midwife gave me a card with the details at my booking appointment. It’s maternity notes/clevermed ltd on the App Store.

Buffbeag · 09/12/2020 12:32

@bubblybrit only some of my test results came through on the app within the first week. The rest didn't show up until I had my 12 week scan when I mentioned it to the midwife and she said that somebody hadn't "pushed" the button so she did something and then they appeared on the app. There are still 3 results not published now and I'm 18 weeks but to be honest if there was any issues I am sure they would have contacted me.

Buttercup20 · 09/12/2020 12:44

@bubblybrit ah thanks I've never been given a single thing 😕 i even tried to organise the healthy living and nobody returned my calls.

bubblybrit · 09/12/2020 12:47

@Buttercup20. I’m assuming all health boards offer it so maybe ask them about it as I needed a password from the midwife to register. I had it with my first DD who is nearly 2 and really liked it as all blood work and scan results were uploaded.

Buttercup20 · 09/12/2020 13:21

@bubblybrit thanks I'll speak to her when i see her next, this is my first and I'm completely clueless 😂 x

sunnysideup3 · 09/12/2020 13:57

@Buttercup20 I've also not been told of an app, I assumed it's only for certain health boards. But now I wonder if I should have asked!

bubblybrit · 09/12/2020 14:06

@Buttercup20 and @sunnysideup3. I’m
Forth Valley if it helps. No harm in asking. I thought it was offered to all health boards but it sounds as if I might be wrong!

sunnysideup3 · 10/12/2020 14:50

Had a private NIPT test done today and they did a scan as part of the test. Got to see my wiggly baby again 😍 The ultrasound lady zoomed in onto its fingers and wee face. It was amazing.
We still haven't told almost anyone about the pregnancy, at this point we'll just tell them on our way to the hospital in June haha.

I think I'll be staying off the facebook group as I don't really use fb. I'll be hanging out here if anyone will be around.

bubblybrit · 10/12/2020 15:20

@sunnysideup3. I’ll be here as I don’t have a fb account!

That’s great that you got to see baby moving around...did you decide on whether you wanted to know the sex as part of the NIPT?

GeneralClux · 10/12/2020 21:50

I'll be staying on here too as I also don't use fb!

ScottishLassie91 · 10/12/2020 22:49

Had our gender scan and got to hear the heartbeat for the first time and found out were having a Boy! 💙 absolutely over the moon x

sunnysideup3 · 11/12/2020 09:11

congrats @ScottishLassie91!!

@bubblybrit we said no to finding out the sex. I want a surprise 😊

bubblybrit · 11/12/2020 09:11

@ScottishLassie91. Congrats! Is this your first?

bubblybrit · 11/12/2020 09:18

@sunnysideup3. I would like a surprise this time round but my DH is desperate to know. We can’t agree on it at all!
