Hey @Firsttimeconcerns no problem, best of luck x

BurningBenches · 14/11/2020 12:32

Hi @Bbdm1984 yeah I do have fb, how do I join please?

They're quite spread out, 20, 11&9 and DS is 15m so it's more like 1+2+2 If that makes any sense

No early scans this time, I had a private one with DS at 8wks but I haven't this time. I haven't told anyone this time either aside from DH and a few of my mum's group for DS. It's a bit surreal really.

BurningBenches · 14/11/2020 13:17

@lucieloos I'm thinking about it. I had DS at 39, and my nuchal scan came back as really low risk so we didn't.

It's just so hugely expensive which I know sounds silly because it's important, but £400-500 is a lot.

lucieloos · 14/11/2020 13:39

@BurningBenches yes I know what you mean. It is very expensive. I'm going to have one in 2 weeks time just because I need to know.

maloney123 · 14/11/2020 15:48

Hey All, we just got back from our NIPT scan and tests and all went well fingers crossed! She actually dated me two days further ahead than we had previously thought which is great. Baby was wriggling around loads as well which was just the cutest thing. Should get the results of the tests by the end of next week or early the following week - going to be a long long wait!

Sitchervice · 14/11/2020 20:30

I have my third scan on the 8th of December. Can't help feeling scared as my morning sickness seems to have subsided.

PinkPlantCase · 14/11/2020 20:36

I rang the booking line and told them I’d be 13+5 for the 12 week scan date they’d sent. The last on the phone was lovely and rearranged the scan for when I should be exactly 12 weeks Grin

So my scan is now on the 25th November! The day after my booking appointment. So exciting!!

Has anyone else got a bit of a belly? Blush definitely only 1 in there but I already look like there’s something in there! Thank god for working from home.

Best of luck for your NIPT tests!

PumpkinEverything · 14/11/2020 21:07

@maloney123 can I ask how they test? I’d never even knew this test existed until recently so it’s all new to me and now I’m starting to wonder if it’s something I need to be thinking about!

PinkPlantCase · 14/11/2020 21:16

@PumpkinEverything it’s a scan and a blood test. I think the blood test is the main part, scan is mostly just for wellbeing.

That’s my understanding anyway. Haven’t had one but was reading about it the other day.

We’ve decided not to have one. I’m mid/late 20s so pretty low risk.

maloney123 · 14/11/2020 21:48

@PumpkinEverything hey - it’s a blood test which as I understand it is more accurate at testing for anomalies such as Down’s syndrome (more accurate than the NHS screening). The scan is just a standard scan.

@PinkPlantCase I am definitely showing slightly and finding my jeans tight! Although that may also be because of how much I’m eating!

GanderousGoose · 15/11/2020 00:36

Hey all - I'm 9+5 today and finding myself getting more and more anxious the nearer I get to the first scan. Just had first bloods done on Friday. I've always been anxious about MC and MMC and am so nervous that the scan will show the baby has stopped developing. I'm 40, will be 41 when baby is born, and also overweight so I'm getting super anxious about Downs risk coming back high as well... Anyone else feeling this way?

pookypup · 15/11/2020 08:10

Hi @GanderousGoose, have you had any early scans? I ended up going for two which was very reassuring.

I’m 41 and 10+1 so similar worries about abnormalities and losing this pregnancy. I keep looking at this site and trying to focus on the fact that statistically the chances are that all will be well. datayze.com/miscarriage-chart?mode=graph

It’s really hard. Do you have a scan date? I’m still waiting for my appointment.

GanderousGoose · 15/11/2020 09:02

Hi @pookypup I haven't had any early scans - I think it's great if they were helpful for you but I tend to see them as just a snapshot anyway - everything could change the next day, regardless of an early scan. Just my opinion though and I know lots of ladies do have them and find them really reassuring. I haven't had my scan letter yet - midwife at antenatal bloods appt said it should be through in next week or so. Having said the above, if the date they give me is at 13/14 weeks, instead of 12 (website says 12-14 weeks scan) then I will look at booking privately because I don't think I can wait another 4 weeks! Thanks so much for replying - it's nice to have someone that understands the exact worries and anxieties of a more mature pregnancy.

BurningBenches · 15/11/2020 09:31

@GanderousGoose and @pookypup im also 41, with a BMI of 32. I'm 10+1 and my symptoms have pretty much stopped over the last couple of days, which I think ties in with the placenta taking over (I hope anyway)

But yeah nervous. No early scans this time, 12wk scan on 30th.

K1998 · 15/11/2020 11:33

Hi Everyone, so I’m 8 weeks and 1 day and my morning sickness has been really bad the past week and then now it’s only coming and going, is this still normal? I still have sore boobs etc just want some reassurance Smile

Garman · 15/11/2020 12:08

@K1998 you're the exact same dates as me. Yes it's normal for symptoms to come and go and change in intensity day to day, and the placenta starts to take over soon so sometimes that can make symptoms/hormones better too.

K1998 · 15/11/2020 12:13

@Garman amazing that we are the same day! Thank you for your comment it was just crazy how I’ve felt awful (struggled to get out of bed some days) and then all of a sudden woke up and managed to cook and not feel sick at all!

Garman · 15/11/2020 12:16

Yeah they'll come and go, I was nauseous all week but am absolutely fine today and yesterday, except if I'm a passenger in a car! With my first I was insanely nauseous with the odd vomiting session up until about 28 weeks, each pregnancy and each mama is different Smile

maloney123 · 15/11/2020 12:29

@GanderousGoose hey, I just wanted to add that I totally understand how you feel but I have read that if you can detect a heartbeat at a scan from about 7 weeks then your chances of a successful pregnancy significantly increase. So it may be worth going for one for the reassurance.

K1998 · 15/11/2020 13:01

@Garman thanks again for the reassurance and oh god yes being a passenger in the car makes me feel awful! This is my first and I must admit I feel very alone and in the dark as I’m trying to not read anything other than what the nhs says and my midwife! Best of luck with your second pregnancy!

Garman · 15/11/2020 13:20

It's actually my third but thanks, very unexpected, still adjusting to the idea!

pookypup · 15/11/2020 13:30

@BurningBenches my symptoms have been generally improving too - it’s a bit worrying! I’ve read a lot about how they can start to improve around now, so just crossing fingers! Is your due date 12th June - same as me?

@GanderousGoose my scan was at a midwife led private place. They were very reassuring that if all is well after 8 weeks, the chances of miscarriage drops quite significantly. I was scanned at just under 9 weeks and it really helped. You are right though, it’s still just a snapshot !

K1998 · 15/11/2020 14:01

@Garman Oh wow, best of luck! Nice little early Xmas pressie!

Sitchervice · 15/11/2020 14:15

@GanderousGoose I'm scared to mines on the 8th. I don't feel pregnant anymore. I'm. Not getting as sick. I just have a really bad feeling.

PurpleishDahlia · 15/11/2020 14:51

Hello all,
just to share that my symptoms also stopped and I was super worried, but we saw a heartbeat yesterday at an early scan.
The scan put me further along than I thought, at 8+3 which means I'll be over 10 weeks at my booking appointment and over 13 at the nhs scan. Do you know if that time frame still OK for bloods and NT, or should I let them know I'm ahead? I don't want to lose the NT window.
Wishing all the best for all our invisible bumps 💐
