@PumpkinEverything hey, just wondered how you were getting on? When’s your midwife appointment, did you say it was this week?

PumpkinEverything · 10/11/2020 14:41

@Tatty1987 my first one was yesterday 😊 I thought it was the booking appointment, but apparently not! I have a major major fear of blood tests so I had got myself all worked up all morning, and when I went down to the GPs she just asked me a few questions like when my LMP was (I also mentioned the early scan, and the potential fibroid they found), whether I smoked, took my vitamins, which hospital, and a few other small things. Then she just took my blood pressure (which must have been high as she asked had I been nervous for the appointment), told me I’ll get a scan at 12 weeks with a letter sent out and that that appointment would be in the hospital for the scan, they will send me home and then ring me to ask more questions and the whole thing will take 2-3 hours. Also mentioned getting the flu jab and that I’ll get a letter for that too!
So all that worrying and anxiety for nothing 😂 so just need to wait for my letter and then I’ll start worrying all over again as I suspect the blood tests will be at the next one 🙈

Tatty1987 · 10/11/2020 14:58

@PumpkinEverything oh gosh 🙈 seems strange they didn’t do the blood and urine tests whilst you were there doesn’t it. Least then you could’ve got them over with.
Sounds like they told you lots of info though which is good and gets the ball rolling to get you booked in for a scan. Mine isn’t till next Tuesday so this gives me a heads up on what may happen, thank you!
We’ve also just booked another private scan for when I think I’ll be exactly 12 weeks coz it’s our first pregnancy and felt bad that DP would miss it.

PumpkinEverything · 10/11/2020 15:13

@Tatty1987 yes, and she gave me a book/big leaflet pack to read as well on pregnancy. So lots to read up on. I can’t believe I’m 6+6 today. I’ve updated my apps twice now for due date and it feels like I’ve been stuck between 5-6 weeks for about 3 weeks now 😂 I just need to progress and be at 12 already!
I think from what I’ve seen not everyone has appointments like mine, and you might end up getting your tests and more Info asked at yours, so just be prepared for that! That’s so nice you booked another one 😁 when will that be for?

Tatty1987 · 10/11/2020 15:41

@PumpkinEverything aw no and these are the slowest weeks aren’t they!
It’s booked for the 13th December so ages off yet but felt as though it wouldn’t be fair for him to miss it as we had a good experience together at the early scan. Fingers crossed everything goes ok, still so nervous despite the reassurance scan 🙈

PumpkinEverything · 10/11/2020 16:22

I definitely agree @Tatty1987 I would be booking another one as well if it weren’t for the midwife telling me yesterday he can come with me for my 12 week scan. If anything changes though I’ll definitely book another! I’m also still just as nervous despite the scan. I think it was really good and nice to see; but I actually don’t feel any less nervous about it at all!

AlRRRR · 10/11/2020 17:39

I work only once per week but I do work 14/16 hours in the one day so that is tough. I work in a private household so I can't have breaks as such or change the hours.

I feel so sick and hiding it for 16 hours is near enough impossible !

maloney123 · 10/11/2020 18:16

Hey Mommas
Has anyone booked an NIPT scan? I’ve got mine booked in for this weekend (and NHS 12 weeks scan the following week), getting really nervous now!
Thanks x

ChasingARainbow · 10/11/2020 18:40

@maloney123 I'm ordering my NIPT test tomorrow to be posted out and my midwife has agreed to take my bloods for it so booked that for next Wednesday so I'll be 10weeks and 2 days. Think we will find out the gender, are you? X

lucieloos · 10/11/2020 18:54

@maloney123 yes I rang and booked in my nipt test today for 2 weeks time. It's the one I'm really worried about. If we get a clear result from that I will start relaxing a bit more.

maloney123 · 10/11/2020 18:58

@lucieloos @ChasingARainbow hopefully there isn’t a long wait on the results!!!

ChasingARainbow · 10/11/2020 19:05

@maloney123 I think mine said 5-7 days, it will be such a relief if that comes back clear then hopefully will get my nhs scan appointment through soon for something to look forward to. How any weeks will you be when you you have it?

lucieloos · 10/11/2020 19:48

@maloney123 I think mine is around 2 weeks as I chose a different one where the send the sample to America so will be an anxious wait. Are you finding out gender?

Penny2020 · 10/11/2020 19:55

Ladies getting a private NIPT, I’m interested to understand why you’re going for the extra tests beyond the standard NHS ones. Are the private ones better or more extensive? I’ve been trying to read up on it, but can’t seem to work it out.
Thanks

maloney123 · 10/11/2020 19:55

@ChasingARainbow ah okay. Yes can’t wait for the 12 week scan, doesn’t it feel like it’s been the longest wait?! I will be 11+3 when I have mine, how about you? We had a 7 week scan which was all good but even that feel ages ago now

maloney123 · 10/11/2020 20:00

@lucieloos oh wow I haven’t heard of that one! It will be worth the wait though. No we’re not gonna find out the gender, I would like a surprise! Will you?

@Penny2020 from what I have read the NIPT are more accurate than the NHS screening process

ChasingARainbow · 10/11/2020 20:09

@maloney123 I had my booking in appointment with the midwife last Thursday but still waiting for a scan date. We had an early scan at 7weeks too, so pleased we did as it was reassuring. It does feel like a long time to wait for the 12 week scan, i found out at 11 days lost ovulation and kind of wish I'd found out at 6 weeks 🙈

lucieloos · 10/11/2020 20:16

@Penny2020 the nipt is quite a lot more accurate than the nhs test. I have 2 friends who both had serious issues missed on the nhs one. I know nipt is expensive but I would rather pay it for peace of mind and if something is wrong I would rather know ASAP if we need to consider options. The nipt is from 10 weeks but the nhs is around a month later.

@maloney123 I really don't know what to do about the gender. We have 2 other children and we had a surprise with both of them and my husband was adamant he didn't want to find out beforehand and it was lovely having a surprise but this time he has said he would be open to finding out as it will be easier for us with regards to the masses of clothes we are hoarding. We could get rid of one lot and we could think about bedroom set ups and tell the kids that we are expecting one or the other rather than them get their heart set on a sister or brother and then it be the opposite. I just really don't know though.

AlRRRR · 10/11/2020 20:41

I’m also confused about the NIPT as I had this in 2017 on the NHS as routine, and i believe it was rolled out 2017/2018 to everyone. So are you just doing the private to learn at an early, if there are any issues present? x

lucieloos · 10/11/2020 21:06

@AlRRRR I think in most areas it's only available on the nhs if you are high risk. It's not available where I live hence the reason for getting it done privately but I would want it done early anyway.

Sitchervice · 10/11/2020 21:21

Weird question but... Is anyone elses boobs getting Hairy Confused

Coffee4me · 10/11/2020 21:32

My Nipt is next week, when I'm almost 11 weeks. I'm doing it as it's more accurate (and I'm older so higher risks), it's not available on NHS here.

Penny2020 · 11/11/2020 06:55

@maloney123 @lucieloos thanks ladies, I’ll explore a bit more then

AlRRRR · 11/11/2020 09:41

Ah maybe I didn’t have the NIPT then 😂😂😂😂😂. Nevermind!

Does anyone have any weird sensations in their bladder? I had an UTI when I was 4-5 weeks, so that seems to have cleared with AB’s but I still get the urge to wee more and also when sitting get these weird tickle / tightening sensations like when you need a wee maybe. Sorry not good at explaining! I’m 8 weeks btw

Bs93 · 11/11/2020 10:23

@America5 I have the exact same dates as you based on LMP! So that’s what I’m down as and I’ve got my 12 week scan on 26th November. However, had an early private scan a couple of weeks ago and I’m actually only 8 weeks now, so way behind the LMP. Glad I’ve got the scan in 2 weeks though, it’s going soooo slow, no way could I wait 4 weeks 🙈
