@AIRRRR yes I think they do. I’ve had irregular cycles since stopping the pill though and had been tracking my ovulation, so think I know roughly when we conceived! If I’m further along than I think then that’s great, as it gets me closer to 12 weeks, but I don’t think so 😂

Tatty1987 · 04/11/2020 13:53

Hey ladies, I was just wondering, how much notice did you get between receiving your 12 week scan appointment letter and the scan date?

Finallybfp · 04/11/2020 14:02

I’m also still waiting for my 12 week scan letter through the post haven’t received it yet . I’m now 10weeks + 1day, I’m at the doctors this afternoon for my flu jab so I was going to ask then how long before your appointment you normally get the scan date . ☺️

Who has actually seen a midwife vs telephone at your booking in app

Cherrypicker85 · 04/11/2020 14:28

Hello all,
I'm joining you at 6 weeks 2 days.
I found out at 4 weeks but was convinced it was an ectopic as a previous HSG showed both tubes blocked.

I live in Scotland but I spent October back in my home country, where private OBs are really affordable, so I've already had 2 super early scans to rule out ectopic, and an antenatal blood test for every disease known to humanity.

Back home now and self isolating for a few more days. I am still expecting a call from the midwife and I'm getting a bit stressed as they initially said they didn't have time for a booking appointment until Dec 17!

Getting a bit worried about money for potential private screenings, NIPT etc.
If only I could still do private consults every 3 days for 25 euros.

I see most of you combine some private screenings with the NHS services, is that the way to go?

Anyone else in Scotland can share a positive experience with the NHS?
Is NT and NIPT offered for over 35s?

Wishing all a healthy and happy pregnancy :)

SarahTTC2020 · 04/11/2020 14:46

@AIRRRR my booking appt is Friday and is telephone. When she made it she said I would then go in for 15 mins for bloods/urine but I don't know if that will have changed now

bestsquirrelinthewholehole · 04/11/2020 14:59

I have just booked us a private scan as a birthday present towards the end of the month, I will be nearly 11 weeks by then. So excited. 😁

PumpkinEverything · 04/11/2020 15:02

@AIRRRR when I booked mine I confirmed that it was in person, and as far as I know nothing has changed. I go on Monday and I wish it was over the phone as going to the doctor gives me serious anxiety anyway, and my biggest fear in life has been getting my blood taken. I’ve had it done once (last year) since 1999 😩 I keep trying to put it out of my head, but I know I’m definitely going to have to get it checked for this and it actually makes me want to both faint and cry.

Suite88 · 04/11/2020 15:14

@Tatty1987 my appointment letter arrived on Saturday and my scan is on the 19th November.

Garman · 04/11/2020 15:16

Had a scan this morning, there's definitely one in there (phew!) and it definitely has a heartbeat, and is measuring a few days ahead but I'm certain of my dates. I have an appointment with a head midwife in a few days too to discuss my previous treatment in the hospital, I can't believe I'm facing into this whole pregnancy experience again.

AlRRRR · 04/11/2020 15:52

@Garman Is it a routine app with a head midwife, I’ve never had that!

@PumpkinEverything Mine defo said telephone only. I’m expecting then to go in for bloods and urine. Last pregnancy, I had blood tests at nearly every appointment, except ones at very very end.

DLHJune24 · 04/11/2020 15:54

@Garman ditto! Also had a scan today, got to see the little heartbeat and measured a couple days ahead too.

To anyone thinking about getting an early scan I’d recommend for the peace of mind. Ultrasound Direct were really good, she explained everything to me as she went and gave me 16 photos.

Tatty1987 · 04/11/2020 16:18

@PumpkinEverything when the midwife phoned to book me in she said usually it’s a 45 min appointment in person but they are splitting that at the mo and doing all the questions over the phone (medical history) and then just the tests in person. Not sure if this is the case everywhere. Try not to worry about the bloods too!

PumpkinEverything · 04/11/2020 16:24

@Tatty1987 I wish they would do that with me! The less time I have to be down there at the minute, the better. I’m in NI so not 100% sure if we’re any different. I’ve no one to ask😔

Garman · 04/11/2020 16:24

@AIRRRR no not routine at all, I contacted her on advice of another senior midwife I know, I have ptsd after a previous birth in the same place and am anxious just at thought of walking through the doors there never mind months of appointments and overnight stays.

123feraverto · 04/11/2020 16:45

Hey all!

My edd is 6th June

I had my midwife booking appointment over the phone two weeks ago I was just coming up to 8 weeks then.

I had my bloods taken and BP checked and urine sent off on Monday 9+1

Don't have a midwife appointment until 16 weeks which feels an age away !

Will have my 12 weeks scan end of November but I think I'll have to go alone as no one to look after my 2.5 year old during lockdown 🙄

AlRRRR · 04/11/2020 16:48

@Garman Oh I’m so sorry to hear that! I did not mean to pry, I just wondered if everyone met with a head midwife.

I hope this one is amazing for you!

Garman · 04/11/2020 16:51

Don't worry at all! It's fair enough to ask if you haven't had an appointment and are curious Smile

PumpkinEverything · 04/11/2020 17:14

@123feraverto can I ask what questions they ask you over the phone? Feel like I need to start thinking of my answers 😂

123feraverto · 04/11/2020 17:21
@123feraverto can I ask what questions they ask you over the phone? Feel like I need to start thinking of my answers 😂
General health questions
Details of yourself / partners / children
Previous pregnancies
Family history of conditions - things like diabetes heart disease etc
And mental health concerns
Any domestic abuse concerns
Check you aren't related to the baby father - is an actual question

I think that was everything

Then any questions you might have

They fill out your paperwork and you'll get that at another time I collect mine when I had the bloods etc taken

123feraverto · 04/11/2020 17:22

Oh assuming you are in UK
I'm in England
Could be different elsewhere
🙂

PinkPlantCase · 04/11/2020 17:22

I haven’t heard anything yet from the midwifes, I rang the booking line a few weeks ago after getting referred by my GP and they said they’d send a letter out. 8 weeks today though and reassurance scan tomorrow! Grin so excited, I’ll be wishing the day away tomorrow.

@Northernlass101 my libido has nose dived too. Knackered and feeling sick. Hopefully things will pick up in the second trimester!

Coffee4me · 04/11/2020 18:58

@AlRRRR I saw midwife in person last week. I was told when I booked it, it'll be over the phone but then confirmed by text, it was in person after all. In here we get a number to ring and book 12 weeks scan from midwife appt, which was good as could choose exact time - seems to vary!

Humpty11 · 04/11/2020 19:48

I had a face to face appointment with my midwife last week but she’s said my 16 week check will be over the phone.
She put the request for my scan when I was with her and I received a letter in the post within a couple of days for my scan at the end of November.
I’m in the south west and they were really efficient when I was pregnant with my son a couple of years ago too.

PumpkinEverything · 04/11/2020 19:50

Thank you @123feraverto 😊 I’m in Northern Ireland, but assume it will be the same sort of questions.
I’m just worried that I won’t know something from my family history as we haven’t told our parents yet and I know they’ll be suspicious if I was to ask. Was it for parents only, or grandparents as well? Or siblings too?
It’s crazy they ask if you’re related to the father 😳
