Feeling very anxious due to previously having misscarriages

Thanks @mouldygrapes! Exciting for your scan on Sunday! How far along will you be then?

Thinking of you today @lucymagoo and hope the scan goes really well!

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 09/10/2020 08:37

I have a happy little person inside me with a lovely flickering heartbeat 🥰
Was so lovely to see, she measured me as a day ahead of what I have but said the 12wk one is the proper dating scan because they can see more.
Feel so much better!
I told my mum because I know if something happened tomorrow, I would tell her. So its nice to go with good news instead. Shes happy but told me off for going on holiday last week!
Also got buccastem for my vomiting but they just make me feel more sick having a chemical taste in my mouth for an hour or more while they melt 🤢

lucymagoo · 09/10/2020 09:00

Awh that's so lovely @SweetpeaOrMarigold I'm so happy for you!

Thanks for the well wishes, scan is at 2:30 we are both quite anxious but hopeful

RustyCat · 09/10/2020 09:40

@lucymagoo good luck today!

@sweetpeaormarigold that's lovely news about your scan! Not so much about the foul taste from the anti sickness meds though. Hopefully they are worth it or more that your nausea goes away itself!

mouldygrapes · 09/10/2020 09:41

@CharlieD2020 will be interested to see if the scan gives me more clarity! By LMP I’m 7+4 today but by ovulation date I’m 8+1. Not a huge difference I guess.
I’ve got a date for my 12 week NHS scan too, but my booking isn’t till 10 weeks 😒

bloomety · 09/10/2020 14:14

What’s everyone doing about screening?

My MW has been great so far. I want to get an NIPT ASAP, as with my son, the screening came back really high at 1 in 21 and it was longest 2 week wait for the NIPT results. So this time, I asked my MW to book it for 11+2 because to get the NIPT bloods done, I need to have been scanned from then on. She’s booked it bang on 3rd November.

Bea11 · 09/10/2020 14:32

@mylittlebean2019 how are you feeling today? Any better? x

lucymagoo · 09/10/2020 14:52

We have a heartbeat! And measuring 8+2 apparently even though I'm 7+5 from LMP. I full burst into tears it was embarrassing

wishingwomen · 09/10/2020 15:03

Ah congratulations @lucymagoo I had a scan today too first one ever measuring 7+2 which I thought I was & don't worry I cried too amazing isn't it wishing you all the best Thanks

Bea11 · 09/10/2020 15:34

Congratulations @wishingwomen and @lucymagoo. Lovely news xx

mouldygrapes · 09/10/2020 16:06

Congratulations to both of you! I’m sure they are used to tears, bet loads of people cry!

bloomety · 09/10/2020 16:18

Oh congratulations @lucymagoo. I cried too!!

lucymagoo · 09/10/2020 16:39

Congrats @wishingwomen! Best thing ever isn't it

bloomety · 09/10/2020 16:53

Congrats @wishingwomen too. Sorry I didn’t see your post.

CharlieD2020 · 10/10/2020 08:44

Huge congratulations @lucymagoo and @wishingwomen! Flowers how lovely!!!

@bloomety this is my first pregnancy so I'm not hugely clued up but said to my MW I will have the standard screening at 12 weeks and then if told there's a high chance of a problem, consider if we want to do any additional screening. Must have been an anxious time waiting for results for your DS! So glad he is well though

CharlieD2020 · 10/10/2020 08:50

What are you all doing in terms of social distancing/reducing contact? I'm in an area without additional lockdown restrictions (East of England) and I am feeling nervous about meeting up with people if I don't know how carefully they are following guidelines/how many people they've seen recently. Obviously when I do see people I follow social distancing. I'm also WFH due to Covid.

I'm an extrovert and loveee being around people but really don't want to get covid whilst pregnant, and with this being such a new virus, I really don't think we can know yet the impact it can have on our unborn little ones. But I don't want to go OTT and have a lonely PG, and DH is keen for us to see people, even if they've just been doing something I consider riskier (such as going away somewhere in the UK with lots of other people, generally socialising with lots of different people, working in a hospital etc.)

What kind of stance are you ladies taking?

lucymagoo · 10/10/2020 09:34

@CharlieD2020 I'm very much an introvert so very happy sat inside seeing no one all day. Grin I would say though maybe keep a "bubble" of your closest friends who you trust not to put you at risk, we have only really seen a few people who I know are taking the virus seriously and steering clear of bigger groups.

lucymagoo · 10/10/2020 10:54

Just got the pics from the scan through and thought I’d share 🥰

Is anyone else due on the 22nd may 2021?
mylittlebean2019 · 10/10/2020 11:38

@Bea11 - Thanks for checking up! I felt much better yesterday the pain pretty much gone. I just feel like I’m 8 months pregnant my stomach is so bloated and I just have that uncomfortable feeling. Got the pregnancy pillow back out my DH is delighted 😂

Amazing news @wishingwomen and @lucymagoo! Love the scan pic 😍

@CharlieD2020 - we are just keeping careful where we can. I’m still going to classes with my DD which is pretty much no social distancing and she’s at nursery which is always full of gems! Just trying to be strict washing our hands and wearing masks out. I’m WFH which helps not commuting into the city, and then just socialising with close friends and family. X

Bea11 · 10/10/2020 12:17

@mylittlebean2019 so pleased to hear that you're feeling better. It's hard not to worry when you have pain isn't it. Well done on getting the pregnancy pillow back out. Mine will be making its way down from the loft soon I'm sure!!

SweetpeaOrMarigold · 10/10/2020 14:37

Screening-wise I will be having everything. Working in NICU makes you very aware and I feel I need to be fully informed so I can enjoy the pregnancy.
Social distancing is fine because of working in the NHS I'm already so careful tbh.

Trousersareoverrated · 10/10/2020 16:52

@CharlieD2020 my DD, DSD and DH are all exposed a lot at work and school so I have a lot more chance of catching COVID from them than anyone else. I’m still meeting with friends and observing the rules but not taking any extra measures because of the pregnancy.

If you look at the NHS advice, pregnant women are classified as clinically vulnerable as a precaution as this is a new virus and may affect us more than others like the flu does but there is absolutely no evidence of any extra ill effects in pregnant women or babies as yet. So I’m not super worried especially because I don’t have any extra risk factors (I’m white, young, healthy BMI, female, no additional conditions)

bloomety · 10/10/2020 17:23

I know I was thinking about it today and covid affects the lungs worse, as far as I know. Babies don’t breathe through their lungs until they’re born, so you’d think there would be no risk to an unborn baby. I’m just guessing though, I don’t know. I’ve had a col for about a week and today I couldn’t taste some cheese and onion crisps. DH said he could smell them from the other side of the car they were so strong. So I got myself a test. Waiting for the results now.

Trousersareoverrated · 10/10/2020 17:32

@bloomety my friend only had loss of taste and smell as a symptom so you may well have it. I often think it would be good to get it at this stage in pregnancy (assuming it wasn’t a serious case) and have some immunity for the later stages.

mouldygrapes · 11/10/2020 10:27

Argh, got my scan in 40 mins and think I’m meant to have a full bladder. Drank a load of water first thing but threw it up! Now can only really manage sips 😩
