@Sheera1 I had an emcs with my first - terrible ordeal - was severely traumatised by it - then forceps worth my second, since then I've had vaginal deliveries (induction by breaking my waters for the last 4), couple of them have been pretty hairy though - no 6 was almost a crash emcs and the last where I ended up with legs in stirrups and baby was tired & they removed the gas and air so I could quote "push properly". I don't feel I coped very well and off the back of 3 mc I just want (as far as is possible) to have a calm and straight forward delivery but I am scared of the operation and I know that with a vaginal delivery I'll be up and doing the washing etc with in 12 hours - I did the school run within 24 hrs last time (perhaps that's a good reason to have the c section 😬😂😂) . As I said before I'm kind of hoping that this one stays transverse and makes the decision for me!!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 02/10/2020 12:31

@Frazzlerock the only criteria I have to meet is having a c section previously. It doesn't matter that it was 19 yr ago 😬 I was surprised tbh! As I wrote to sheera I think a elcs will be the calmest and that's what I want. I always feel labour is a bit of an out of control experience for me and I don't want that this time.

NaomiB79 · 02/10/2020 12:59

@Sheera1 sorry to hear he's not showing much interest, maybe opening the box together could help. Could you give him certain jobs to do for the baby coming like it's his responsibility to install the car seat and understand how it works or some of the machines like the steriliser etc if he's techy and likes that sort of thing to try and get him more engaged?

My DP had been great he bought a book for expectant Dad's and has read it all and he reads all my notes when we get back from the hospital and looks to understand the graphs etc - he's more into that side of it than me tbh.

Exciting times getting the baby box, I got mine last week - some helpful bits in there that we didn't already have and some extras of things we already did have.

jalu47 · 02/10/2020 14:27

I've been trying to book my flu jab for over two weeks and just can't get through to my GPs.. the recording says only over 65s can make an appt. Think I'm going to have to pop in

footprintsintheslow · 02/10/2020 14:37

I have booked my flu jab. I rang and the receptionist said they had run out and to ring back in two weeks. But the next day I was at the surgery anyway so asked and they'd just had a new delivery. Apparently it can all change on a daily basis.
I think daily hassling may be the way forward.

jalu47 · 02/10/2020 15:47

@footprintsintheslow hoping I can get somewhere by going in.. I need an egg free one so it will have to be specially ordered anyway!

footprintsintheslow · 02/10/2020 17:19

@jalu47 gosh have you got an allergy?

jalu47 · 02/10/2020 18:48

@footprintsintheslow yep I'm allergic to egg white (albumin) so struggle to get a lot of vaccines as that is what they are cultured on. I'm is 3 risk groups now - asthmatic, immunosuppressed and pregnant so hope I don't have to battle too hard to get it!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 04/10/2020 19:46

Evening everyone! Anyone know how to feel for what position baby is in? Mine was oblique transverse on Wednesday by the scan but I think rather than move more head down she's gone the other way and is more transverse now...DH walked into the bathroom when I was showering this morning and was like "what's happened...you're lop-sided and funny shaped on one side". Showed him a picture of a transverse lie and he said that's what my bump looks like - so out of curiosity does anyone know how to work out what position baby is in? You'd think I'd have a clue but I don't really...I've always left it to the midwives and tbh by now mine have always been head down ready to go!!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 04/10/2020 19:49

On a different note...no side affects from the flu jab 👍🏻 but horrid night last night (hours of feeling too sick to sleep) and consequently a day of horrid nausea today 🙄😳😬😭 It's not reflux either 😭

Sheera1 · 04/10/2020 19:52

I can't tell a thing tbh. I can feel squirmy feet kicking me down really low and my scan confirmed that baby is currently breech with head up under my ribs on my right side.

I could fee something large on my left side pushing out which she said was knees. It does feel lumpy but can't really tell anything else.

All I know is I am pretty uncomfortable and sitting down baby seems to get legs trapped between bump and thighs and when I stand up it is quite comfy like he_she has been all bunches up.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 04/10/2020 20:07

@Sheera1 you sound as good as me then 🤣🤣🤣. I told the doctor that categorically I would not have them try to turn the baby - I'm pretty set on a c section anyway. I would like to know though...probs going to have to wait until my 36 week scan! I'm getting impatient now...don't know about you?! Still have no names though 😬 I've gone off everything. We've had 3 rules for naming the kids and even though DH has said just go with whatever you like this time I'm finding it really difficult to actually consider doing that!! For ref the 3 rules are 1. Greek first name (my heritage) 2. No repeated initial (he has the same first name as his Dad - so he had a thing about his Dad opening his post) 3. Family names as middle names.

NaomiB79 · 04/10/2020 20:51

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I can't tell what position my baby is in either by feeling my bump. At my 30 week scan she was transverse but a few days later when my midwife felt her she said she was head down. I definitely feel more kicks near my ribs but usually just on one side so I think she could be in either of those positions. I have a scan at 36 weeks which is in two weeks so hopefully find out then. Like you I don't want them to try and turn the baby if she's not in the right position, I'd rather have a section. I don't think my baby is head down and engaged as my bump Is still quite high, not sure if it's too early for that anyway as this is my first.

Frazzlerock · 05/10/2020 08:32

I never know what position baby is in either. But lately when I've been for scans/midwife appts, they've said head down so I think the big lump that keep pushing out above my belly button is a big fat bum.

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I wouldn't bother having them turn baby either, not unless you're desperate for a vag birth (which I know you're not). When I was offered it with DS2, I read that the procedure is stressful for baby and painful for the mum, then 50% of babies turn back anyway so it seems a waste of time and stress really.

@Sheera1 I get that 'legs trapped' feeling too when I sit and lean forward, like baby is telling me off for squashing him/her!

Also, this one gets hiccups a lot, at least twice a day and they go on for ages! I don't remember that with the boys.

I met up with two ladies from the Peanut app at the weekend. They both live fairly locally and are both due within the same week as me. They were really nice. Glad I did it as I haven't joined NCT and really wanted some local new mum friends to hang out with, especially as all my friends have finished their baby making and most of their children are teenagers now.

OP posts:
onlyreadingneverposting8 · 05/10/2020 08:42

@Frazzlerock hiccups here too - usually once a day - such an odd sensation!!

Might get that peanut app and try connect with a mum or two once we've moved. I'm not going to know anyone in the new area.

I'm feeling really incapacitated now. Struggling to do anything much due to the nausea and being heavily pregnant. Yesterday I basically sat on my bum all day while DH packed boxes. He doesn't mind and keeps saying it's not long now but I mind ALOT and am seriously fed up of feeling so blinking ill.

Frazzlerock · 05/10/2020 09:28

I don't know how you're coping with the sickness as well @onlyreadingneverposting8. Must be hell!

The Peanut app is good, but the forum part is very 'Nethuns'. If you can cope with that, then I'd recommend it.

DP has been decorating the nursery all weekend and I love it! He put the cot up and drawers are in. We rented a Rug Doctor on Sat so the carpet is a bit damp still, but I'm slowly putting things in and can see it coming together. He put the wallpaper up which neither of us have ever done before and I don't think he'll ever do again! I'll post a pic when its done.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 05/10/2020 09:33

@Frazzlerock cant wait to see pics of the nursery. What colour have you gone for? I'm so ready to just get moved now and be able to feel like we can actually get some baby stuff! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 it might be move day Friday!!

Frazzlerock · 05/10/2020 10:25

Ooh good luck with the move Onlyreading! I'll keep my fingers crossed for Friday 🤞

Here's a sneak peak of the nursery

Sheera1 · 05/10/2020 19:10

Ooh so lovely @Frazzlerock the wallpaper a d cute matching lampshade are lovely.

DP seems to have pulled his finger out and got the message. Got an apology and he wants to sit and watch some baby videos together to get clues up on stuff. Fingers crossed. Love him but man exhausting. He says he has been putting head in the sand and not taking care of me well enough so fingers crossed he keeps it up. X

BuffaloMozzerella · 05/10/2020 19:11

That is lovely wallpaper @FrazzleRock I loved doing up our daughter's room before she arrived. It really helped make it seem real.

Sorry for those of you feeling uncomfortable and not sleeping well. I'm only nearly 20 weeks and I feel like this pregnancy is really dragging. So long to go 😩

NaomiB79 · 05/10/2020 19:31

Love the nursery @Frazzlerock ours is nearly finished so I'll post some pics when it's done.

@Sheera that's good news. We did a couple of classes together which might be good to do too with your DP. We did a 2hr one with the Baby Academy on baby care which was helpful and free all focussed on practical baby care once they are here and a few with The Honest Midwife, the first one was free and others only £10. Might help your DP feel more prepared.

I'm worried I've put on too much weight! I weighed myself last night and I have put on 3 stone and still have 6 weeks to go 🙈. My BMI was quite high to start with so not ideal. Will really need to watch what I'm eating before the baby comes. It's my first so not sure what a normal amount of weight is to have put on by this stage?

jalu47 · 05/10/2020 21:43

@NaomiB79 I've been worrying about my weight too.. I've put on almost 2 stone and still 9 weeks to go. I've stopped weighing myself now and was starting to hate seen the scales go up - it'll be what it'll be I guess.

I've been asked to go for the more in depth diabetes check as my glucose drink / blood test check a week or so ago was quite high. Apparently it takes 3 hrs and means more time of work which as a contractor I don't get paid for. I'm grateful I've got extra scans and obstetrician appts etc but they are all taking sooo much time and they are never together or even on the same day!

Lost track a bit but has anyone on the board actually been diagnosed with gestational diabetes as yet?

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 05/10/2020 21:55

@NaomiB79 @jalu47 I stopped weighing myself too! With previous pregnancies I've gained between 28 and 35lbs but I've definitely gained more this time. I was underweight when I got pregnant and eating is the only way to stave off the constant nausea for just a little while!! I've been nauseous/sick since 5 weeks pregnant and I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow. I usually exercise a lot too but I've not been able to do anything this time...just been too ill. I've just decided that what will be will be and I'll deal with it afterwards. I've put a ban on weighing myself until 6 weeks postpartum (or maybe after Xmas...)
