Thanks all.

@onlyreadingneverposting8 that is great on the scan and having the options open to you. You are an expert at this so glad they are listening to you.

Moving house is so stressful. And I would be exhausted too. Hope you are getting lots of help and not being left to do too much. I am struggling to bend down and unload the dishwasher these days never mind pack and organise! Next week at least gives you time and still lots of time to organise for baby. And is almost in sight.

I ended up calling in today as twice this week baby has not been moving in the morning for like 50 mins when normally bumps back no probs. Honestly they were not the slightest bit interested. She actually said "it is not like baby has a clock in there" 😡. It moves fine the rest of the day but that sluggishness is new first thing as gas as I am aware.

I have a growth scan tomorrow and seeing consultant otherwise I would be rather hacked off. Had a good cry the first time it happened thinking the worst.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 30/09/2020 15:22

@Sheera1 I am so paranoid about movements too!! I have to have baby move plenty before I can go to sleep or go back to sleep and still I'm thinking horrid thoughts if I can't get her to give me a boot pretty quickly!!. Today baby has moved loads and the sonographer struggled to get the measurements because of it 🤦🏽‍♀️ She has me on my side and then back and then half side and then side again - holding my breathe to get the placental flow, which she did 3 times - that worried me but she said she was just making sure as she's fussy and baby was moving around too much 🤣

Sheera1 · 30/09/2020 16:21

Glad It is not just me. Honestly I am so worried at the mo. Prob notbhelped by stress over the weekend and worry if that had an affect. Yes I bet baby is all over the place at my scan tomorrow. I don't have one decent scan pick because he/she is always jumping about lol. Maybe if lazy first thing I might get one tomorrow or is it too big these days to get a profile?

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 30/09/2020 17:23

@Sheera1 I have been able to get a photo this stage on but not today as baby was turned the wrong way and had her arms and hands in front of her face. At 36 weeks (my next scan) it's not really possible - they're just too big. Baby was measuring at 4lb today so I'm expecting 7lb to 7.5lbs at birth according to the growth chart for me.

Sheera1 · 01/10/2020 11:35

Scan went well. The sonographer was so lovely. She pointed out hair on babies head. Measuring 5 pounds 11 which is 90th centile on one chart and 75th on another 🤔. DS was predicted 90th but came out smaller though still whopping at 9.4 All looks fine but she said to mention concerns to consultant.

Now the rage starts. I didn't get to see the consultant in fact they were surprised I thought I was. Got a registrar? She was not interested in my concerns. Hadn't read my notes. Didn't even know a c section had already been agreed and tried to talk me out of it having not read a thing about the issues I had with DS. She was saying if I have another baby I wouldn't be able to have a 3rd section?? Another baby??They hadn't booked my next scan nor an appointment with aneasthitist ahead of surgery they said weeks ago they would do and then said they aren't doing them due to covid! I said they had messed up my epidural and gave me a spinal headache so I definitely wanted to chat and raise concerns. She said she would ask but I can tell she won't.

She then topped it off saying that even though I am high risk for VTE and due to age and bmi and the fact I will be 34 weeks which is the cusp of being allowed to fly without complications, that she saw no reason for me not to fly to Spain next week (booked before I was pregnant) and so won't sign the form for my insurance to claim the flights back!

Beyond raging. I said well I need a fit to fly for my airline would you be comfortable giving me one and she swerved the question. 😡

Just going to ask my GP. What is it to her to not sign FFS!

Frazzlerock · 01/10/2020 12:53

Oh FFS @Sheera1 I would be raging too. What a complete fuck up!
Seems like nothing is straightforward Angry

I'm pleased the scan went well though, lovely pic! Smile

I'm just back from the midwife. She measured bump and I'm measuring 2 weeks ahead which is a huge jump from my last scan. So she's sending me for a scan within the next 5 days as it might be polyhydramnios but also my two boys were on the 94th and 83rd centile so it might just be another whopper. She said I should have had a scan at 32 weeks (ie now) anyway. She couldn't find the ectopic heartbeat and said baby seems very happy, but she said they can't always hear them.

OP posts:
onlyreadingneverposting8 · 01/10/2020 13:34

@Sheera1 ffs! That is really annoying I would probably have cried - then try to hold onto baby is well and you're healthy! And you got a photo!!

@Frazzlerock good the hear that the midwife couldn't hear the ectopic heartbeat (perhaps it was never there?) I would suspect that baby is just on the bigger side like your others - good to get a scan though!

I've also been raging today! Went to the chemist to have my flu jab (GP cancelled on me - only found out when I turned up for it) and also had a repeat prescription of clexane to pick up. Lovely pharmacist looked everywhere and then checked the computer, which told her that the Surgery had issued it but then cancelled it! As the surgery is very near I went round, knocked on the door and a receptionist came. Explained what had happened and said I really needed it reissuing ASAP as I need the medication. The receptionist (I'm very rude tone) said "you'll have to ring up as I need your details" so I replied "couldn't you just get some paper and take them down now?" To which she said (rudely again) "No, you'll have to ring because we are too busy in the desk to do that!"
So I came home, wrote out another request on a piece of paper (with my phone number) and went back. She wouldn't answer the door and so I put it through the letter box. With in a couple of minutes said receptionist rang me and said I hadn't put my name on the request...to which I replied "yes I have it's in capitals, just above my date of birth!". She then found me on the system and said I'd written a different name down....I replied I hadn't and that I was quite capable of writing my name correctly. At which point she put the phone down on me!!!!

Frazzlerock · 01/10/2020 14:01

Jesus christ @onlyreadingneverposting8 I'd have been going loopy!
What on earth!?

Hospital just rang and got me in for 4:20 this arvo! Not sure whether to be concerned they go me in so fast... Midwife said it would be within 5 days

OP posts:
onlyreadingneverposting8 · 01/10/2020 14:49

@Frazzlerock I wouldn't be worried - she probs asked for ASAP so you weren't worrying!!

Stuntbird · 01/10/2020 15:18

Hi newbie here. Im 43, 15 weeks and due 24th March 2021 with my first. My DP is a few years younger (let's say lol) and over the moon.
I've been lucky with morning sickness but it has hit me hard in the last week! Is it ok to live off chicken soup and bread ?!

Sheera1 · 01/10/2020 15:23

@onlyreadingneverposting8 OMG that is horrific! Totally complain. What a dick she was. Wrote the wrong name, bugger off. This is life saving medicine and they fucked up not you. I am horrified for you. What is with everyone at the moment. I took a prescription to my GP after my midwife appointment and stood at the screen for ages while she typed away and ignored me. She wouldn't discuss it with me and told me to call the line. I think they are taking the piss a lot at the moment and are crazy power hungry goblins at the best of times.

@Frazzlerock I have zero faith in the fundal measurement nonsense. They had DS way off the chart and he wasn't. I am sure everything is ok and enjoy the scan. I loved mine today. It was so clear and you could see him/her playing with the cord and smacking the sonographer back. Lol. If they bring you forward a few weeks it would be no bad thing. Great no ectopic heartbeat found. Let us know how you get on.

I messaged a doctor friend and she said it was beyond ridiculous that she wouldn't sign my flight form. Will try my GP. She said no 3rd trimester lady should be flying just now and that no GP's at that stage are doing anything customer facing.

The registrar did however call back and say when I get my next scan they will call the aneathetist to come and see me then which is good. Maybe she finally opened my notes 😂

Frazzlerock · 01/10/2020 18:53

All was fine at the scan. Baby measuring just over 50th centile and amniotic fluid deepest pool was 7cm, so well within range.
Also no ectopic beat at scan either so it looks like it's resolved itself already. Got a 4lb 9ozer in there 🙌

Sheera1 · 01/10/2020 19:32

Yay @Frazzlerock that is great!!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 01/10/2020 19:34

@Frazzlerock fantastic! Now you can be reassured on all fronts! Xx

Managed to get the prescription saga sorted - has to take my boys in to prove I needed the clexane 🙄🙄 Why they couldn't have rung me in the first place god only knows - rather than wait until I go to the pharmacy to find it's not been issued!! Honestly I'm so glad I'm moving so I can move surgeries- they are just terrible!! This isn't the first time we've had problems with them. Ds has had trouble getting prescriptions off them especially when it's a change of meds directed by his consultant and there's never any communication the GP just doesn't action anything. 😖

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 01/10/2020 19:34

Typos!!! Had to take my NOTES in (not boys!!)

footprintsintheslow · 01/10/2020 20:15

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I've been sat here wondering who your boys are and how they can prove anything!

I've had crap drs and now a really fantastic one and it makes so much difference to my life. Can you change sooner rather than later?

As for me, I'm totally addicted to hot chocolate and I can't go a day without a couple of mugs...some days I drink almost a litre of it. I'm obsessed.

Sheera1 · 01/10/2020 21:56

😂😂😂on the boys. What a nonsense. Why on earth did they decide after all these weeks suddenly you had to prove it. So grrrr for you.

I just find it a pain phoning up every week. Why 10 at a time when I need like 100 till I am done. Small gripe but it takes them 4 working days so I am constantly worrying about when I need to phone and forgetting when I last called.

@footprintsintheslow mine is currently tunnox teacakes! Can not get enough of them!!

footprintsintheslow · 01/10/2020 22:16

@Sheera1 are they like normal tea cakes? I'm mad for fruit bread every morning.

Frazzlerock · 02/10/2020 08:04

Morning,

Addictions... well I could totally get on board with the hot chocolate thing, we have a Velvetiser so I have steered clear of it as I fear it will be a slippery slope!
But Tunnocks teacakes are incredible, no other teacake comes close, not even the M&S ones. @footprintsintheslow they're not the fruit bread variety, they're the choc covered marshmallow thingies. Soooo good, but again I've stayed away in case I go overly nuts for them. I love Tunnocks chewy wafer bars too, yumm.....

I'm really enjoying olives, the cheap black ones you get in jars, I had the same with DS2. Also those polish smoked sausage things, Kabanos, which are soo full of salt so I shouldn't really but they're so good and remind me of Peperamis but even better. Probably terribly bad for me. Plus I'm sure we're not supposed to eat smoked meats, but these are so heavily processed I'm sure they're fine!

How's the weather where you all are? It's CHUCKING it down here in Kent. Poor DS2 has gone off to school on his bike in it, he's going to have a very wet day today...

OP posts:
Frazzlerock · 02/10/2020 08:07

Has anyone tried to book their flu jab? Normally I can just ring the surgery and book it but there was a message on their phone saying those who are eligible will get a letter and they're not taking flu jab bookings unless we have a letter. I guess I'll have to wait, but not sure how long they will take. Wondering whether to just find a pharmacy who offers them.

OP posts:
Sheera1 · 02/10/2020 09:50

@footprintsintheslow it is a Scottish company and they come in a shiny foil that is red and silver. Like Frazzle says. Mallowy amazingness. They are so light though that I need to eat two at a time 🙈.

@Frazzlerock I thought my midwife would sort my fly jab but I have lost faith in them knowing what stages I am at as they never have things booked it and she is so scary (although very chatty and nice). Going to ask GP about the fly jab.

I love kabanos but they thought gives me heartburn 😂

NaomiB79 · 02/10/2020 10:37

@Frazzlerock I haven't booked my flu jab yet but was reading on another thread that loads of folks who had theirs booked at Boots in the next two weeks have had them cancelled as there is a national shortage at the moment! I was going to phone the surgery later to ask about it, I would have thought pregnant women are in the priority group but maybe not.

Lloyd's Pharmacy seem to be fairing better in terms of availability than Boots so would maybe try them.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 02/10/2020 10:57

I had my flu jab at my local pharmacy yesterday (arm quite achy today but nothing like the whooping cough where I actually couldn't move it!!) I just went in and asked and they rang me back when stock came in to ask if I needed one still. I would definitely recommend taking matters into your own hands & wouldn't be waiting for a letter @Frazzlerock

On the food front I'm really struggling. I have even gone off bread and porridge. I'm so nauseous (today is a bad day). I can eat chocolate though...this is what happened with my nearly 11 yr old. I was literally just eating twix for the last few weeks with her. I did tell the doctor on Wednesday I was still feeling awful but it's my experience that as long as the baby is ok they don't really care how ill we are feeling! 😭 Moan over! Will all be worth it - I know that!

I'm thinking today I'm am going to request a c section...even though I'm pretty terrified of both options right now!! I think DH would rather I had a vaginal delivery...he's worried about covid more than anything!

Sheera1 · 02/10/2020 12:12

I'm so sorry you are still feeling so nauseous @onlyreadingneverposting8 it is a long ling time to feel that way.

Going to ask my GP now about flu jabs as surprised we haven't had any notice. I keep forgetting to ask things when I see people face to face. I forgot yesterday to specifically ask about my amniotic fluid levels with me losing weight and some weird movements and then forgot amidst the nonsense from the registrar around my section. I called them there and first midwife couldn't give a shit and said she couldn't look it up and tried to transfer me elsewhere but it bounced back and another midwife picked up and she couldn't have been more helpful. Said measurement was nicely within the normal range which is reassuring. It is such a gamble depending on who you speak to.

What have your other deliveries been Only?

My baby box just arrived (Scotland). Was going to open it but will wait for DP. He has been much better and no drinking but he still is just really not that interested. When I was telling him the saga from ytday he starting writing his work hours down in his log book and I stopped and said "are you actually listening to what I am telling you?" He just seems so far away from being part of what is going on. Is that quite normal? My previous husband was a bit like that but he at least got to come to the scans but had no interest in feeling kicks etc either.

Might just open it myself as he probably is not interested and I will get the hump.

Once it is here he will be interested but is it a guy thing that as it is not yet affecting them, it is not really on their radar?

What are your partners like?

Frazzlerock · 02/10/2020 12:25

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I quite fancy living of Twixes but I'm sure it is relentless when you physically can't stomach anything else.
Having gone through a long and painful labour (but not birth) and an EMCS and ELCS, I would go for an ELCS if you've the choice.
What criteria do you have to meet to get one? Apart from previous c-sections/high risk

@Sheera1 awwww I'd LOVE a baby box. I did look at them but they're expensive to buy. I would bloody open it! It's weird that your DP wants this more than anything but ignores you when you talk about the baby.
Do you think he might be scared or something? I wonder if there is some kind of avoidance due to something like that?

My ex wasn't the best, I can't remember how much involvement he had with my pregnancies TBH.
DP is really lovely with this one and reads stories to baby and can't sleep unless he feels baby moving at night, and reads my maternity notes etc. I do think I got lucky with him though, apart from the mood swings of course. I think if I had this convo with my circle of friends, they'd all be saying their partners/husbands were very distant until the birth, which I understand is very normal.
