Hello! So I'm 32+4 with my second, a girl this time 😊 the whole pregnancy has gone quick as been running round after my toddler, though now I know I'm almost there it's going so slowly! So looking for some buddies to compare notes and pass the time with! Though don't know why I want it to hurry up as I know too well the pain and sleepless nights ahead 🤣 just I think uncomfortable enough now to want her out! Everywhere pretty swollen already, hips hurt and wake me up, I pee all the time even in the night, tired and get some braxton hicks. How are others doing?

@Elly88 I hope so too! I get them every time I’m stood up now and it really feels like she’s burrowing down there! I’m 39+4 today. Someone asked how long left and I got to say 3 days!

I gave DS an extra long nap this afternoon, thinking we’d walk round to the local park when he was up, but no, he point blank refused to go and is now a bundle of energy!

Elly88 · 17/09/2020 19:12

@UserFriendly14 yes I get a tightening everytime I do something remotely active or lean forward. 39+4 is so close! I really wanna go into labour naturally early 😩
Oh no hope your DS goes down soon for you! Mine could have probably had a longer lunch nap but I got him up so that he'd hopefully go down well for the night! He age a little bit of tea so fingers crossed hell have a good night and feel better tomoro, quite looking forward to having my happy no bother toddler back that sleeps 13 hours!

Got a call from the hospital and they've managed to fit me in for a scan at lunchtime tomorrow. Hoping they dont want to/need to induce me, but obvs I'll go with whatever is best. Got a very wriggly baby though. Belly feels like it's all limbs, and she keeps hooking a foot under my ribs so it's so uncomfortable. Fortunately DH is working from home tomorrow so he can have DD. I'm also hoping he might let me sleep in if I have another terrible night x

Elly88 · 17/09/2020 20:59

@spark27 glad they fitted you in for a scan, I bet she'll weigh above the 10th centile and it'll all be fine 🤞🏻
I had a stage of getting feet under the ribs, so cringy isn't it! She must have moved lower now though as my hips back to hurting and no more rib kicking. Done all my bouncing/expressing/clary sage/raspberrytea/pineapple/dates today but still not holding my breath until I have a show :/ though I'm literally biting DH's head off and finding it difficult to have patience with my toddler today so hormones are certainly ramping up!

Have you guys got any tips for hand expressing? I attempted it but struggled to get anything! Even a link to a good video 🙈

I’m the same, desperate to have baby before
due date! Have my raspberry tea and spending about and hour on birthing ball in the evenings

Elly88 · 18/09/2020 07:04

@FreyaFirstTimeMum it may take a few times of doing it before you get anything, or you may not get anything at all and that's completely normal. I find in the bath works best so the tissues are all warm and it let's down a lot quicker. If it to bring on labour, just the action of expressing will still stimulate your hormones though. Good luck!

I'm sorry I havent had chance to update. It's been a crazy few days.

Our baby boy was born happy and healthy on Tuesday afternoon by ceasaren as planned. He was a mere 7oz lighter than they predicted but we were also told the right decision was made in delivering early.

I know a lot of you had been saying about visiting restrictions etc. DH had to leave once I left recovery but was then given two hours visiting time later in the day. Although this is extremely difficult, I couldn't of felt more looked after. There were more midwives and maternity support workers on the wards. If I rang my bell it was never more than a couple of minutes before someone was with me. They are also discharging as quick as is safely possible.

If you go in for induction be prepared you may to have a covid swab. Our trust is swabbing anyone who becomes an inpatient and this has to be repeated every 5 days if it's a lengthy stay. Luckily I only had one but it's not nice.

Hope all your babies follow soon Flowers

UserFriendly14 · 18/09/2020 10:34

Awww congratulations @mistletoeprickles!!! Are you home now? So glad that the midwives and staff were helpful.

Hope your scan goes well @Spark27.

I have the worst pressure down below today, so all that burrowing she was doing worked. I’m walking like a cowboy and I’m sure if I were examined, they’d say she’s fully engaged.

Elly88 · 18/09/2020 12:08

Congratulations @mistletoeprickles! Have you decided on a name yet?
I've been for a decent walk with DS then round the supermarket then stood up Baking so if that hasn't helped things I don't know what will! Legs and back are killing now. Slightly filled with dread at the thought of another week, maybe even 2 of having nothing to do to entertain DS all day on my own!! Praying she arrives this weekend 😩🙏🏻

Just back from the scan. All measuring fine. Baby is approx 6lbs 12oz and on the 30th centile. The sonographer said I was just good at hiding the baby. She also said no wonder the movements are so painful as my belly is all baby.
So the wait is still on. 9 days til EDD. x

Flower81 · 18/09/2020 13:16

Congratulations @mistletoeprickles! Glad to hear all went well and that you felt so looked after. Hope you're recovering well.

@FreyaFirstTimeMum I haven't tried hand expressing this time, but i previously found the information from La Leche League (I've probably spelt that wrong!) quite helpful. It still didn't feel obvious that I was doing it 'right', and took ages to get just a little drop of anything, but I think they gave the most detail I could find.

MrsK89 · 18/09/2020 13:20

@mistletoeprickles congratulations xx

MrsK89 · 18/09/2020 13:24

@Spark27 glad all went well in the scan

Ive just come back from midwife appt. Briefly went through birth plan and she said baby was really low down. She said I could ask for a sweep on Tuesday after I go for my scan as hospital would rather me go naturally than get induced (next Saturday!)

DH has stopped me from doing school runs as its over 5 miles away so just been relaxing with DD who has a terrible cold, full of snot

FreyaFirstTimeMum · 18/09/2020 13:30

Congrats on your wee one! 👶🏻

I’m getting so anxious on the potential nationwide restrictions, I’m in Scotland and First Minister has said to expect announcement of further restrictions from next week. This could potentially mean impact on partner being in hospital and grandparents meeting baby.

Just wish she would come this weekend!

Spark27 · 18/09/2020 14:21

Congratulations @mistletoeprickles
Just realised that in all the faff of this morning and the scan I had forgotten to say. Hope you're doing well now? Are you home?

I've got a banging headache. Not sure if it was the stress of the scan and wondering what they would say, or just lack of sleep and tiredness. My sister has invited DD to hers tonight for a sleepover with my nephews. Feel sorry for my sister having to deal with that, but happy to get the break from her. Think I'm going to take the opportunity to chill and order a mexican takeaway tonight.

I feel the same as you @Elly88. Not sure how I'm going to have the energy to entertain DD next week, and I only have her part time.xx

Elly88 · 18/09/2020 18:08

@spark27 glad scan went well and weight is OK. Night to yourself sound lovely hope you enjoy it!! I actually slept so well for the first time in ages last night and DS seems much better today so hoping for another nice early one to get back on track. Least he's stopped being whingey so I should be grateful for that, just feel bad that he's stuck with short dog walks round the estate, short park trips, or to feed the ducks or to the supermarket, that's about it! Yh 5 full days a week is a lot 🙈
Praying we get some more early babies soon, I so desperately don't want to go over. I feel so ready now. Braxton hicks have been pretty non stop today but not really painful. If only I could have a sweep now! I reckon it would set things off.

UserFriendly14 · 18/09/2020 23:23

Sames as you both @Elly88 and @Spark27, it’s the entertaining of DS that’s driving me mad. [Luckily 😬] he’s been down with the cold the last few days so hasn’t wanted to do much anyway. He was at PIL today and he came back so much brighter so I think the change of scenery did him good, but didn’t help my mum guilt.

@FreyaFirstTimeMum Argh there’s no worse timing is there?! I for sure thought we’d be passed all these restrictions by the time baby/September arrived. Thankfully I seem to be in a low risk area so I have my fingers crossed.

Showed DH my new walk today, due to all the pelvic pain I have, and he said “you’re gonna drop this weekend. I mean, look at the size of you” 🤨 I think he meant bump but still...!

Elly88 · 19/09/2020 11:19

Also rather get her out before more covid restrictions possibly come in! Been for a walk this morning, managed to find some reflexology shortly, then the inlaws are bringing a takeaway curry over tonight! Probs tmi but just not sure I can bring myself to doing the deed 🙈 anyone for one not have the energy, plus just feel like a disgusting whale and so not in the mood? Though I desperately want to try everything to get her out!
@UserFriendly14 you're quite far along now aren't you? Hopefully we'll have some babies over the weekend! 🤞🏻

I am so not up for sex. I am too big, too uncomfortable. Down there feels swollen, baby is wriggling too much. And I'm too gassy. I'd probably end up burping or farting on him. 🙊Nope. No way. That is one thing I will not be trying, even if I get really fed up 🤣 And I dont think he'd be that up for it either xx

Nicalo2019 · 19/09/2020 12:42

Hi all, had no show as of yet. Had midwife appointment yesterday an she is sending me for a scan as not 100% he is head down. Definetly feels like he is in position but she wants to be sure! Ball bouncing, hand expressing n not sure I want to try sex but will see if needs must. G
Booked in for a sweep in Monday 28th if nothing happens over the next week! Hoping for movement soon!

UserFriendly14 · 19/09/2020 13:39

Hope your scan goes ok @Nicalo2019. I think that’s a full house for us all having late scans now?

Oh and nope. Nada. No way. Not happening. Not if he were the last man on Earth! 😂

Elly88 · 19/09/2020 13:41

Glad I'm not the only one 🙈 hilariously true @spark27. Plus I'm so hormonal I'm not exactly in the loving kind of mood lol.
@Nicalo2019 u also have a sweep on 28th as long as she is engaged enough. Hope your scan goes OK and baby is head down for you!
Reflexology was nice, just hoping it helps! Shall be ordering a spicy curry tonight and getting on my birthing ball shortly. Though my relaxed state was quickly ruined by getting in to find DH not tidied up at all after feeding DS his lunch and he'd forgotten to turn his white noise on for his nap so he probably won't sleep at long, he's bloody lucky he went down at all! We've literally used white noise since he was born so how on earth he can forget is beyond me, why are men so useless?! Had to nag him to do every little thing today its ridiculous 😐

OP posts:
MrsK89 · 19/09/2020 14:13

I'm in a different frame of mind regarding sex. I really want baby to come out before next Saturdays induction lol. Plus I'm guessing it'll be the last time for a while.
Currently bouncing on ball which is giving me some sharp pains down below, don't know if that means anything though haha.
We've got our baby swing up and ready and DH needs to put the baby cot up and we are as ready as can be x

UserFriendly14 · 19/09/2020 16:08

@elly88 I think my attitude to DH this pregnancy has ensured he won’t be coming near me again until he’s had the snip! Just today we did a 17 mile(!) round trip for lunch, only to find the place was full and come home again 🙄 DH wanted to go for a walk to make the most of it and seemed genuinely surprised when I put my foot down because I was hungry... BECAUSE I’M PREGNANT! No consideration given to the fact that DS needed lunch either 🤦🏻‍♀️ DS missed having a nap in all this and is now being a right pain.

I’ll be making a spicy curry this evening, as I’ve promised myself a takeaway the day we come home from hospital.

@MrsK89 I don’t blame you really, but I’m genuinely at the point of I’d rather an induction than sex!

Been thinking my stance RE having a sweep too- I had two failed ones with DS, so I was adamant that I wouldn’t bother again this time. Now it’s here I’m wondering if one might be in order!

Elly88 · 19/09/2020 16:18

@UserFriendly14 I think I'm with you on preferring an induction 🙈 less embarrassing lol. Oh god I would have totally lost it if that happened to me!!
Currently concentrating on baby's moves as feel like they've been less than usual but it's so hard to tell! And you know if you call you'll have to go all the way in and then they'll kick like crazy and it'll all be fine. But u have been busy what with the walk this morning, then reflexology, then hoovered did some washing and scrubbed the kitchen floor on my hands and knees.
I think the sweep worked for me last time, well it gave me my show anyway which led to labour 2 days later. And actually didn't hurt or bother me in the slightest, just felt crampy immediately after. So I'm definitely up for sweeps! Praying she comes before that though 😩
