Hello! So I'm 32+4 with my second, a girl this time 😊 the whole pregnancy has gone quick as been running round after my toddler, though now I know I'm almost there it's going so slowly! So looking for some buddies to compare notes and pass the time with! Though don't know why I want it to hurry up as I know too well the pain and sleepless nights ahead 🤣 just I think uncomfortable enough now to want her out! Everywhere pretty swollen already, hips hurt and wake me up, I pee all the time even in the night, tired and get some braxton hicks. How are others doing?

That's sounds super stressful @chocolate4me! I hope you get a plan soon so you can get stuff sorted and know what's happening. The not knowing is awful isn't it. I'm nervous enough about leaving my 19 month old just to go and have the baby never mind having to stay in for weeks, hopefully that won't happen. No one does anything quite like mummy does it do they? My LO is still very clingy bless him so I hope I'm in hosp during the night when he's asleep so not away for too long!
At my 20 week scan she did think my placenta might be a bit low but she git me to go for a wee then rescanned me and said it was fine. So hopefully it is!
Currently sat working my way through a box of mini muffins, that'll help keep baby's birth weight down 🙈🙄

Chocolate4me · 08/08/2020 16:48

Ha ha, enjoy the muffins!!
I remember feeling really anxious about leaving my boys overnight, luckily with all of them I managed to get them down to sleep before I had to go to hospital and they were fine with my Mum but it did make me nervous. I'm glad my youngest is a bit older than they were as I think he would be OK with my partner or Mum at night now as he is 2 years 8 months now, where as my others were 21 months and 2 years 4 months.
I asked my diabetes midwife about an induction and she said they don't induce till 40 weeks for controlled gestational diabetes unless there are issues... Which is great on one hand, but when you worry about having a big baby, it makes me worry going to 40 weeks too. Although my heaviest baby was 8 pounds 6 but he was the easiest delivery. Just need to find out about the placenta now. It's funny how yours was better after going for a wee, as I think mine was worse after I went for a wee as if my bladder being full, made it seem further away on the abdominal scan.

Have managed with the heat so far today but definitely don't fancy doing much in the afternoons especially when this hot

Spark27 · 08/08/2020 19:26

Currently away on a little UK based holiday with the family. So nice to have a change of scenery, even though we've basically moved our crap to another house 😹

Was so hot yesterday. Bedroom was still 30c at 2300 with windows open and fan on. Surprised I managed to get some sleep. Fortunately its cooler tonight, with a breeze. Had a really sore bump and aching back last night. Think it was due to humping and dumping all the stuff in and out of cars. Busy day at a zoo planned tomorrow so expecting to be knackered tomorrow evening.

Troubledmummy3 · 08/08/2020 22:19

Wow it's been so hot today! Hope everyone is coping?! I had a 32 week growth scan yesterday...and I was diagnosed as having severe Polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid)
I didn't realise how serious it could be until I was sent to the day assessment unit to see the doctor, then consultant and I've been put on bed rest...which is virtually impossible due to being at home with 3 children and told that I cannot be left alone - but DH has to go to work! I'm absolutely terrified...has anyone else ever heard of this? Because this is my fourth baby and I've never had this before...I've been told I've got more than double the fluid I should have and I'm at high risk of PPROM...and that if my waters do go I need to go straight to hospital 😕

Chocolate4me · 09/08/2020 08:03

Oh gosh how scary, sorry to hear that, have they said why you have so much fluid? I don't know much about this, but when I thought about if I need bed rest, I wondered if I could have found a college student over the holidays to come and be a Nanny for my kids. Is this something you could afford to do? We would be in the same tricky situation with OH and work. Hope you find a solution for the next few weeks, not too much longer till you reach the safer stage of 36/37 weeks

Troubledmummy3 · 09/08/2020 13:47

@Chocolate4me I've got the glucose fasting blood test thing on Tuesday for gestational diabetes but I googled excess fluid and scared myself witless...other than that they aren't sure...sorry bit of a downer just had no idea where to post about it...😕 and I'm not googling it anymore!! 🙈

mistletoeprickles · 09/08/2020 13:57

@Troubledmummy3 I don't know anything at all about excess fluid but I've had gestational diabetes in a previous pregnancy and I was diagnosed at 16 weeks in this one. I'm insulin controlled, 4 injections a day. It's a pain but it's manageable and I eat a normal ish diet, even with a few treats. My last growth scan was at 28 weeks and he was exactly where he should be. I think what I'm trying to say is don't worry about the diabetes side of it, it manageable.
@Chocolate4me it's scary but they do move and quickly. Mine was over my cervix at the 20 week scan but 22 it was high. I have no idea where it is now but they'll check at 36 weeks.
@Elly88 how's the Braxton hicks now? I'm still on and off. Some a little painful.

Anyone had fanny daggers? It feels like he's kicking me in the cervix every so often which takes my breath away.
I'm definatley in the nesting stage and driving DH mad. He's only had one day off this week and I keep finding him things to do. But the pushchair and inserts are now all washed and I've made a small start on my hospital bag!
The weather is meant to continue to be hot here this week (midlands) so the DC's will love me when we're hiding inside most of this week!

Elly88 · 09/08/2020 18:01

@troubledmummy3 let us know how you get on, never heard of too much waters, best you hadn't either until now 🙈 are you sure you're having the glucose fast test? They just do one blood test now without the fasting, that's what my midwife did for me and said its the new way that doesn't involve you waiting or fasting?
@mistletoeprickles fanny daggers hahaha 😂 can't say I've had those but currently having light crampy period type pains. Probably just digestion/braxton hicks. I have no expectation this time of being early, certainly not 7 weeks early. With you on the nesting stage, we put the TV on the wall today and had a shuffle round to create some more room in the lounge! Also sorted through all my toddlers and baby's clothes. Itching to put the next to me crib up but it means shoving the bed over to one side and it's just really in the way 🙈 don't think I'll resist much longer tho lol.
Dreading the weather this week, my poor toddler is going to be so bored!

OP posts:
mistletoeprickles · 09/08/2020 18:06

@Elly88 I'm tempted with the next to me but it's all washed and fresh and it'll stay like that better sat in its bag. It'll be done the day before I go in for my section. Also DS will want to get in it Grin. I've had enough trouble keeping him out the carseat when I washed all of that!

Chocolate4me · 09/08/2020 19:38

Urgh, I don't think I'm going to cook in this sort of heat ever again, I had a mini tantrum at everyone for coming in the kitchen and being demanding while I was dishing up and boiling hot!!

I had a fasting glucose tolerance test at 28 weeks, must vary by area but wish I'd have had the single blood test!!

I'm feeling like baby has dropped more, def. Feeling more bladder pressure and uncomfortable when I walk, have had it so good up until now, won't be planning much for this week if it stays hot apart from sitting in front of the fan

Elly88 · 09/08/2020 20:57

Anyone else on here not a ftm and getting anxiety about adding another one to the mix? Overjoyed I'm pregnant but currently my toddler is still up screaming (rather out of character I'll admit) but making me have a little breakdown thinking what on earth am I going to do with a newborn as well when I'm even more tired?!

OP posts:
Spark27 · 09/08/2020 22:59

@Elly88 oh yes. DD will be 3 around the time the next one is born and I'm bricking it. Shes so active and demanding. Shes currently at nursery 2 days a week and my mum used to have her 1 day, while I worked. Not sure what I will do having both of them on my own 2 days a week. And then my DH is military so if he gets deployed or moved I'll be on my own all week or for 6 months. DD is generally good, but goes through difficult stages. I remember taking advantage of her napping when she was little and using it to catch up on sleep/relax/do housework, not sure how I'll survive this time round when I cant do it 😬

Flower81 · 10/08/2020 00:35

Yep!! I feel the same. I'll only have a 19 month age gap and am worrying how i will cope. Even just the thought of getting out the house and a double buggy up our garden stairs makes me on edge... So any tips from anyone very welcome!

mistletoeprickles · 10/08/2020 06:36

I'll have a 10 year old and a 3 year old. The eldest will be in school full time (hopefully!) and DS will be in pre school 3 mornings a week.
Honestly ladies I think we just take it in our stride and adapt. The best thing I had for DS was a soft sling. If he was having a fussy day I just strapped him to me and I could carry on with what needed doing and allowed me to continue with giving DD attention.
Our fall back is DS crap bedtime. With him starting pre school he has to get into a routine so that battle will be beginning this evening.
I'm then going to stock the freezer with nice easy meals and bags of pre prepped veg etc ready to throw in the slow cooker. That's my biggest worry, not being able to cook with 3 of them.
Luckily I have DH home for 3 weeks so that will really help.

Chocolate4me · 10/08/2020 07:24

I have been deliberately not thinking about it too much 😂 I have a 12 Yr old, 10 Yr old, 8 Yr old and 2.9 Yr old. I'm hoping schools go back and stay back 🤞🤞🤞 I'm not looking forward to that mad morning rush though I have to say but will just make sure everyone has everything they need laid out the night before.
I think as long as you lower expectations of being places bang on time and that meals might not be quite as good as before, then all is good 😊

mistletoeprickles · 10/08/2020 07:35

@Chocolate4me mornings scare me. Having had a lazy morning every morning since March it's going to be a shock to the system! We're up by 6.30 every day day but then proceed to do nothing 😂 for some time.

booroo · 10/08/2020 07:52

I'm due the 1st of October can I jump on and join? Currently really disliking the heat Blush I'm also worrying about adding a newborn to the mix not sure my 4 year old daughter is going to be to impressed with the reality of the baby being here, just hoping she settles at school when she starts so it will Be slightly less of a shock for her..

Elly88 · 10/08/2020 08:13

Glad I'm not the only one. In my head I'd thought get the sleepless nights and nappies and naps etc out the way together but now the reality is sinking in I wish my eldest was at school so then at least I have the day to focus on the newborn! I'm sure I'll appreciate it later but its going to be a tiring couple of years! They'll be almost 21 months between my two so it's like what to do with toddler whilst I try and put baby down for a nap or vice versa?! I have my wrap around sling which ds lived in for first few months but then he was a terrible sleeper cos was used to always being on me so want to try and put this one down on her own a bit more but then that isn't safe early on to have them nap in another room with a monitor on is it? My husband works lunch time u till 11pm so isn't around to help early morning or for tea/bath/bedtime. Just a couple. Hours late morning, least it means he can take the toddler out and entertain him but trying to do all the rest myself is rather daunting!

Chocolate4me · 10/08/2020 08:50

Hi booroo, you're due a day after me 😊

Elly88, you could always get a breathing sensor monitor for baby for naps in the other room. I had a 21 month gap and actually he was my easiest sleeper, think he got used to the noise and would nap in the buggy whilst out and about. You'll look back in a couple of years and be glad to have got the sleepless nights done 😊

Flower81 · 10/08/2020 09:56

I feel exactly the same about naps @Elly88 - I did love a sling with my daughter but then it took a long time to get her to accept going into the cot... She's happy in there now and sleeps through, but she's still reliant on us to nod off in the first place 😬 I know it's bad, but just haven't been able to face it while trying to juggle work and looking after her in full lockdown and now just too exhausted!

I guess we will just adapt as there is no other choice! Going to trust you on that one @mistletoeprickles. The slow cooker, filled pasta and other easy meals are definitely going to be my best friends, although I worry there is little room for lowering my expectations for the state of the house 😂

mistletoeprickles · 10/08/2020 10:49

@Flower81 the day before my section DH and I have a few hours just us so we'll be doing a food shop for easy meals. I go in 6 weeks today which is complete madness!

Chocolate4me · 11/08/2020 09:54

I'm 33 weeks tomorrow, feel like my bump has massively grown over 2 days!!! Can't wait for this heat to subside, hopefully a bit cooler tomorrow afternoon onwards 🙏

Elly88 · 11/08/2020 10:14

I keep getting told my bump is big and have I grown overnight 🙄 trying my hardest to not over eat but everywhere just blows up when I'm pregnant, arms, legs, hips, face. 6 and a bit weeks to go for me, hopefully slightly less?! I couldn't sleep last night cos of the heat so I've caved and set up the next to me crib so everything's all ready now! Unfortunately the hideous hot weather carries on until the end of the week where I am 😭

OP posts:
Elly88 · 11/08/2020 10:17

Oh and thank you all for the nap tips, I'm praying for a heavy sleeper this time! 🤞🏻

OP posts:
Chocolate4me · 11/08/2020 11:20

I need to order my bedside crib but I'm going to leave it right to the last minute, can use the carrycot from the buggy if I get caught short I guess.
I was thinking that I didn't really feel at the really heavy end of pregnancy stage that often.... I think it's about to hit me and be a more permanent thing. Drinking tons of water because of the heat probably makes us feel much bigger too!
We are due thunder and storms from tomorrow and then it should drop to 20 degrees at night... That's the part I need it get cooler for the most, hope the cooler weather comes your way soon... Although my forecast says rain and storms for the next 10 days 🙄 can't win!
