Hello! So I'm 32+4 with my second, a girl this time 😊 the whole pregnancy has gone quick as been running round after my toddler, though now I know I'm almost there it's going so slowly! So looking for some buddies to compare notes and pass the time with! Though don't know why I want it to hurry up as I know too well the pain and sleepless nights ahead 🤣 just I think uncomfortable enough now to want her out! Everywhere pretty swollen already, hips hurt and wake me up, I pee all the time even in the night, tired and get some braxton hicks. How are others doing?

I dont feel right/well today. I cant put my finger on why but I dont, just feel off.

MrsK89 · 11/09/2020 09:35

I think my discharge is looking more like the plug this morning, very thick and jelly like.
@mistletoeprickles I'm feeling the same as you, but I'm getting quite a few cramps. Kind of feels like wind is trapped in different parts of my stomach and sharp pains down below. Shoulders are aching and these staggered school runs are taking it out of me

Elly88 · 11/09/2020 09:38

@mistletoeprickles I don't feel well either. Stomach still having good clear out and Ive felt nauseous since yesterday, haven't had much of an appetite still. Like you say, no symptoms as such just don't feel right xx

Good luck with your scan this morning @mistletoeprickles Flowers

Hope you all feel better too.

Had an up and down night, but DS treated me to a 9am lie in so I’m not complaining.

Scan this afternoon and DH has chosen today to cycle to work. Told him that he’ll need to peddle like the clappers to get home, should I need him Angry

Elly88 · 11/09/2020 12:06

Back from my midwife appt, baby is 3/5 engaged but of course not guaranteed to stay that way. Managed to book a sweep for 40+1 and then can have another few days after if needed both as long as she's still engaged, but that's over 2 weeks away still 😞 there was a trace of protein in my urine along with lucocytes? And my top BP number was normal but high for me, bottom number low. So they weren't worried but I know it'll play on my mind now. Just got to get bouncing like mad on my ball and expressing now to help beat my next appt!
Hope both scans go OK, let us know!
Salt in the wound for me today - meant to meet a friend this afternoon but she's cancelled cos gone into labour lol.

OP posts:
UserFriendly14 · 11/09/2020 13:24

At my 36w app the MW said I had a bit of protein in my wee, but it was only a trace so she wasn’t fussed and said it could have been from anything. All was good at 38w. Not sure if you have to reuse the pots like we have to? 😣 It’s the worst part of it all I think. I can only imagine how raging you are that your friend has gone into labour! Will you be visiting in the next couple of weeks? Just think of all the lovely oxytocin!

Going to leave in 20 mins for the scan. Not sure how to feel, but I’m looking forward to seeing baby if nothing else! Hopefully have them confirm she’s a girl too, just to completely put my mind at ease- there’ll be a lot of donated dresses and tights if it’s wrong 😂

Elly88 · 11/09/2020 16:15

@UserFriendly14 that's good to know, hopefully nothing then. No reusing of pots here thankfully!
How did your scan go? Yes I don't know her overly well so won't be visiting, but it was her first baby and she was only 39 weeks of that! Jammy bugger 😂
I did ask re partner rules atm and she said they're allowed with you the whole time in labour, but if you have to go to a ward after giving birth they're only allowed to stay during visiting hours. If you have to be induced, they go with you while you get set up, then have to go once visiting hours over, and they get called once you're in active labour - how awful is that?! Especially with second babies what if they don't make it back in time?! And cannot see how on earth it makes a difference if they're allowed in at some point, any bugs will be brought in anyway?!

mistletoeprickles · 11/09/2020 18:17

Hi ladies.

I am now a resident of my local hospital! I had a scan and the baby is measuring above the 97th percentile. The consultant isnt happy because it's clear I'm suffering with his size and also said that's why the braxton hicks are so bad. Hes sat on my cervix and has nowhere to go. I was admitted on the spot!

I'll have steroids over the weekend and I'm on the list for a space for a section which will either be monday or tuesday. She said tuesday is looking more likely.

Leaving the children is going to be awful but DH is going to bring them each day so I can see them outside for a little while. DH is allowed to visit every day between 4 and 6 which is something I suppose but I am going to struggle. Theres been alot of tears already.

I'll catch up with everyone later

Elly88 · 11/09/2020 18:34

@mistletoeprickles oh my goodness no wonder you've been so uncomfortable! Is that 97th centile according to your scan? Can't imagine how you feel having to leave your other little ones but I'm sure they'll be fine and hopefully it's only a few days, am sure they won't remember it when they're older! How many weeks and days are you now? Best of luck with the section, hope they don't keep you waiting too long.

Crumbsinthecarpet · 11/09/2020 19:52

@Elly88 good with 3/5ths engaged! Had an appointment today and she's popped back out to 1/5 engaged when she was 2/5 for ages :(
@mistletoeprickles good luck with it all! Very excited for you!

Midwife came round to give me a sweep but cervix was just too far back for her to get any real purchase unfortunately :( second attempt booked for Tuesday

Elly88 · 11/09/2020 20:05

@crumbsinthecarpet how frustrating! How many weeks are you now then? I couldn't get a sweep before term which was so annoying as she was engaged just enough to have one.
I'm back to being all depressed and fed up as everyone around me seems to have had their babies already, massive mum guilt for not being able to do anything with ds, so hideously uncomfortable, don't get any proper time with DH as can't join him for dog walks anymore and after ds goes to bed I have to bath and hit the pit myself. Just want it to be over but not even a sign of my mucus plug never mind a show or contractions so I know I have weeks left 😭

OP posts:
UserFriendly14 · 11/09/2020 20:28

Oh @mistletoeprickles at least you’ve got some answers and an end in sight now Flowers I knew you’d be the first of us to have baby! Just know that we’re always about for a chat... especially 1am-5am 😂 Just to completely out myself (Hi Mum!) Tuesday 15th is also my birthday, so it’s the best day for a section I’d say!

Scan for me went absolutely fine. Baby’s actually measuring just below 50th percentile, so no idea where the MW got 90th from Confused Weight at the moment is about 7 and half pounds so I’m looking at another decent sized one! In fact I might take the newborn clothes out of my hospital bag now and just replace them with up to 1 month. I couldn’t make out anything from the screen and sonographer didn’t ask if I knew the sex.

@Elly88 I have always said the same RE birth partners. From what I understood at my local hospital, BP could be there for 4 hours after birth but what difference does that make if they’ve already been there the whole time before that?! With DS I was ready to be discharged 6 hours after birth, and am seriously hoping for same again, so hopefully it won’t be too long without DH there.

This really is the worst part, isn’t it?! All the waiting and hoping for signs of anything happening. If it makes you feel any better @Elly88 I really can’t see this one making an appearance any time soon either. I am so uncomfortable, especially when trying to sleep and I’m so glad it’s the weekend so DH will be around to be with DS. I feel awful at the moment as he was at MIL this afternoon and all I did was sit on the sofa and not move, apart from scan. There’s so much to be done around the house, as nesting has tampered off, but I just can’t muster the energy for it.

@Crumbsinthecarpet that’s a shame about your sweep- keep bouncing over the weekend and hopefully things will be better come the second attempt!

Flower81 · 11/09/2020 23:08

@mistletoeprickles no wonder you've been suffering. I'm glad you're on the list for a section space soon but sounds tough. There would have been a lot of tears here too knowing I couldn't see my DD for days, and two hour visiting is nothing. At my hospital they've increased visiting hours but I know others not far away where partners are now allowed to stay overnight. Just seems so variable.

mistletoeprickles · 12/09/2020 04:10

Thank you for all the lovely responses.
I had my first steroid injection about midnight I think it was, which means I have to have my blood sugar taken every two hours 😡 not much sleep happening!
I'm just accepting of the fact that I'm here until hes born now. Sleep will be crap, DH is now mum but itll all be fine.

@Userfriendly14 it's amazing how easily they can get things wrong isnt it? 2 weeks ago at my midwife appointment there was no issue at all and now I'm having a giant baby!

@flower81, there were lots of tears all of which were mine. As we live really close to the hospital DH will bring the children up daily and I'll meet them outside. It's really shit but the best we can do for now.

@Elly88, above 97th is according to the scan yes. Technically measuring full term at 36 weeks.

@Crumbsinthecarpet its really not uncommon for babies to engage and pop in and out especially if it isnt your first? I am sorry about your sweep though. Hopefully it moves down soon.

Elly88 · 12/09/2020 04:28

@UserFriendly14 well at least we can hopefully wait it out together 🙈 no idea how they get it so wrong either, my midwife constantly measured me at 90th and scan showed just above 10th as I say?! So midwives and consultant all cool and cucumbers now saying how she's only small and I just don't buy it. Scans are wrong all the time. Midwife said she couldn't even measure my bump today because it's been less than 2 weeks since my scan so not enough time for baby to have grown? So now I've no idea what in measuring and won't be measured until day after my due date?! With a history of shoulder dystocia that seems bonkers to me.
@mistletoeprickles don't envy you at all trying to sleep on the wards. I got put on a ward for a night after ds was born and there was no chance of a decent sleep.
I've been reasonably comfortable tonight but still waking up unable to sleep. Just frustrating when you know you need the rest and feel so tired in the day, and will soon be up all hours with a newborn!
Got it in my head now that nothings gonna happen for a while, at least until I lose my plug/have my show which last wasn't until after a sweep so not holding my breath. Just trying to think of ways to entertain DS and get me through the week. Next week isn't looking so bad as he's off to MIL's Monday and Wednesday afternoons, meeting a friend at the park weds morning, then my mums staying Thursday afternoon till Friday tea time. It's the following week where I'll be between 39-40 weeks and I have no plans that I'm concerned with! Any ideas welcome!

Morning ladies

Sorry to hear how things have changed @mistletoeprickles, but at least they are looking after you. Difficult to do as I know you'll be missing the family so much, but try and relax before baby comes, in between all the checks 🤔. Hopefully you've got, or can get some earplugs and an eye mask to try and get some sleep, and catch up on some netflix.

No advice I'm afraid @Elly88 as I live for DDs 2 nursery days, and then her day at grandma's. Already counting down til I can drop her off there this afternoon 😅.
Have you got anything on a to do list that you need to get sorted that could pass the time? Or do you want some time to chill and relax? Or ideas to help entertain your toddler? I went to B&M the other day to stock up on some sticker books, colouring stuff, cheap toys, etc. Thinking I can get one thing out at a time when I've hit my peak with my DD (it will probably all last 2 days 🤣)xx

Elly88 · 12/09/2020 08:54

@spark27 was after ideas to entertain toddler, he's only 20months so unfortunately not able to sit and colour etc yet :/ otherwise that sounds like a great idea!
While I'm in here, out of curiosity, those of you who are second time mums, did you have your show/mucus plug before waters or contractions? I have it in my head that no point being 'on look out' for contractions until I've lost my plug and or had my show?

OP posts:
UserFriendly14 · 12/09/2020 11:58

It really is amazing how wrong her measurement of my bump was. I’m surprised she didn’t at least double check it on me as she did a quick one and plotted it and that was that. I’m worried I’ll have her again next time and she’ll see how wrong her work was Blush She was an older MW too, so I’d have thought she knew what she was doing.

@mistletoeprickles I would say I hope you can take it easy, but checks every 2 hours sounds awful. I remember just from being in to be induced that there was no chance of sleep, even without any monitoring. 6 woman in a small room and the one next to me was clearly making the MST of her last night of sleep before baby arrived. The SNORING that emitted from her was on another level! I still have the text I sent to DH comparing her to a farm animal!

@Elly88 Parks are my best friend for DS at the moment. I find he can run around, while I watch closely and not having to walk around too much. I’ll even drive to one a bit further away if I’m really not up for walking to our local one. That aside, we’re not getting much else done! He is being a bit spoilt with cheap new toys like @Spark27 said! No idea on the show/contraction front I’m afraid as I didn’t even get that far before!

DH is in a huff as he wanted to do some gardening this morning, but I’ve insisted he takes DS out there with him so I can get some housework done (and MN!). He really doesn’t understand (or he does and just doesn’t acknowledge) that I have to have DS with me whatever I do. Case in point is every single one of my MW appt I’ve had to take DS with me. Not much fun being measured on the bed, with him squashed in next to me. Or when poor MW is trying to listen to baby’s heartbeat and he’s moaning that he’s bored! Sorry nothing to do with being pregnant and rant over!

Elly88 · 12/09/2020 13:23

@UserFriendly14 it is mad how wrong they can be but i suppose it doesn't mean your bump measurement was wrong, just that our bumps clearly aren't all baby 🤣 might be extra waters or such like, I guess they do say your bump stretches more with your second too? But I'm sure each midwife would measure slightly differently too. I'm never sure how accurate the scans are either though tbf so could be bigger than they think.
Yes my DS is also a fan of the park but as he's only 20 months it's quite a hands on experience! He's not able to run round and climb on stuff himself yet, has to have his hand held and be lifted up onto stuff and made sure he doesn't fall off etc etc.
We took him to a horse and donkey sanctuary this morning which was a decent 40 min walk round so having decent braxton hicks from that. Off to a friends surprise birthday do later this afternoon, hoping if I have plans it'll tempt fate to make baby come!
With you on feeling DH never understand the struggle of having a toddler with you 24/7, as adorable as they are, you can't expect to go to the toilet for 20 minutes by yourself, or go upstairs to sort the washing, or just 'pop' to the shop etc etc. When I was working DH has DS all day on his own on a Sunday which really helped him understand but like you I haven't worked since March! Full time mumming is not for me...
Hope you're getting on OK @mistletoeprickles really feel for you! Least it won't be long now x

Flower81 · 12/09/2020 14:27

Hey @Elly88 I didn't lose my mucus plug until my waters broke which was over half way through labour, so you never know... Contractions were properly going for me first.

Spark27 · 12/09/2020 17:34

Dropped DD off at my mums and she said she'd bring her back in 22hrs 🥳💃. If only I could drink 😅

Elly88 · 12/09/2020 18:12

Thanks @Flower81 that gives me hope! Though not sure if I'd be better telling myself it can't happen until then so I can stop driving myself insane symptom spotting lol.
Sounds glorious @spark27, DS yet to have a night away.
Been a busy day so had fair few BH today. Sending baby dust out to us all in hope of movement tonight (doubtful I know) but 38 weeks tomoro 🙏🏻

OP posts:
UserFriendly14 · 12/09/2020 18:38

I hope for your sake @Spark27 that that’s not a typo and it is 22 hours!

I keep feeling this afternoon little, quick pains. It’s right where I had actual contractions last time. It’s not drawn out like I’ve read BH are. Will have to see how it goes.

Spark27 · 12/09/2020 18:47

Nope, no typo. 22hr glorious hours.
Just booked for me and DH to go out for lunch tomorrow. Decided it would be nice to do something and not just sit in. If it wasnt for Covid we'd have probably had a night away in the 2nd tri so at least this is something.

38w tomorrow as well. Woooooo x

Crumbsinthecarpet · 12/09/2020 19:48

@Elly88 39 weeks and a day!

@userfriendly14 yes fingers crossed! Trying all the daft sounding methods to get her engaged again including kerb walking!

On that note if anyone has any ideas to get baby in the pelvis they are welcome!!!!
