I completely get that @mrsmummy1111

I've spent a small fortune on OPKs over the last few months and am so bloody impatient that I was buying pregnancy tests before AF was due, much to my disappointment.

This month I hadn't bought any OPKs - I was so busy with work, didn't jot down when we had sex or anything. We went away for a few days last week and I mentioned to DH I was due on over the weekend - totally forgot and only realised when I had a notification on my phone telling me to log my period 🤦🏼‍♀️

lastditchattempt20 · 26/07/2020 11:33

Hi all, tentatively sneaking in to stand at the back 😁 Very early days (3w+4) but would be nice to share early symptoms for reassurance. Pic at 10 DPO. EDD April 7th. Will hopefully be DC2... 🤞🏻
I would rather stay on here than a FB group, but understand if others prefer FB.
Is anyone else still pre 4w?

@lastditchattempt20 welcome and congrats on ur BFP!!!

4.6weeks today’s and so so so tired like literally feel like I’ve been hit by a bus or hungover when I wake up. Anyone else? Also the first morning I properly gagged over the toilet but stomach empty so nothing came up

mammii · 26/07/2020 16:04

Welcome @lastditchattempt20 and congratulations 😊 x

I am only just 4 weeks today. I think I'll be due on 4th April, although may end up with another elective c-section as my baby's are close together in age, so unsure if I'd be a good candidate for a vbac.

How old is your DC1? 😊

lastditchattempt20 · 26/07/2020 16:08

She's 6.5 so there'll be a decent age gap 😕 just have to hope everyone is happy with the situation!
Does anyone have cramps still? And spotting? Very minimal and part of me knows it can be normal, but... 😬

Definitely having cramps. Keep expecting AF still and keep doing pregnancy tests.... I’m on 7 now!! All clearly positive. I’ve got one more CB to do and I’m going to do it tomorrow then call the GP!

So new to this, so ladies with babies or just anyone more in the know than me, what happens when you speak to the GP??

Caz86 · 26/07/2020 16:40

@lastditchattempt20
I have cramps daily since about 3 days before my period was due (obviously never came on) I have read that this is completely normal but also slightly worried. No spotting at all just mild cramps.

mrsmummy1111 · 26/07/2020 16:49

@penny92 I was so disappointed with DS when I called the GP 🤣 they were so uninterested and just asked if I knew which hospital I wanted to give birth in, and do I want to self refer myself or do I want them to do it. Then they sent me on my merry way. I was half expecting a Millie's cookies congratulations cake, some party poppers and maybe another pregnancy test just to make sure I hadn't made a mistake. But nope, couldn't care less.

This time I didn't even bother telling my GP. I just self referred myself to the hospital I want to give birth in, and they'll contact me with my initial 10w midwife appt. if you know which hospital you want to go to, I'd save yourself time and do it yourself. GP surgery take their sweet time sending the referral over and it meant my first scan wasn't until 13+ weeks and you don't want that xx

Thank you!! That’s really helpful. I might be moving areas in the next couple of months so does anyone know if initially I go directly to my local hospital for now?

Birnam · 26/07/2020 17:43

I have no clue what I'm meant to do next either, haha!! I keep googling but it's not really giving me much, wish I could just speak to my friends who have had babies but I don't want to tell them yet. Is anyone else in Scotland who knows what I'm supposed to do? Do we have to contact our GP?

mammii · 26/07/2020 17:52

@Caz86 and @lastditchattempt20
I have had the faintest aching feeling, due AF today, but thankfully she's not arrived. Also checked pregnancy test and test is getting darker.

I had cramping and bleeding from weeks 5-8 of my first pregnancy and even had bright red blood and clots. Had an early scan and there was nothing to worry about. Just one of those things. Even though I understand the worry of cramping or any bleeding, it can be totally nothing to worry about 😊 I was told that brown blood is just old blood shedding

mrsmummy1111 · 26/07/2020 18:26

@penny92 yes register with your local hospital and then your community midwife team will contact you, then if you do end up moving they'll just transfer you. But you need to register wherever you're living for now Smile

JTB123 · 26/07/2020 18:39

I rang my GP when I found out and they booked me in for a 1hr telephone midwife appointment, I almost think this is pointless as apparently they will be inviting me in for another appointment in person a few days later?!

RasperryInAMelon · 26/07/2020 18:43

I self referred and got a call within 24 hours.

Booking Appt is a 2hr telephone call on the 21st and then I have to go down to outpatients just for my bloods

LurAlba · 26/07/2020 18:45

Hi. Like some of you I’m a first time mum. According to the various apps I’m also due 31st March but I reckon it’ll be April - all the first time mums I know have been past their due date.

Interesting to read how people have already got scans booked. When I called my GPs surgery they said it’s a self referral system. I called and emailed and eventually a bored call centre operator called back and took all my details. He said the first time anyone would see me would be 8-10 weeks in and they’d be in touch closer to then to book an apt.

I know this is a exceptional time we’re dealing with COVID 19 but I was a bit shocked at just how indifferent everyone is and the lack of guidance or ability to speak to someone so I could ask questions.

I’ve been trying for 19months so this has been momentous and somewhat surprising (thought it was never going to happen). I haven’t really told anyone else.

It’s quite nice just to share this with all of you. And so nice to see other first time mums due the same time as me. 😄

LurAlba · 26/07/2020 18:56
@Birnam congrats! I’ve been putting off testing on CB as don’t want to be disappointed.. 13 DPO today, might take one on Monday. Been using the little stick tests every day since Wednesday, they are getting stronger which is relieving...

Ladies, I’ve set up a Facebook group. It’s simply called Due in April 2021. It’s a totally private group so if anyone wants to join, feel free . There’s a question on there asking where you came across the group :) x
Hi @whiteolive
I've been trying to find the Facebook group. There's a few referring to April due dates but none that I can see with the exact wording. I'd be dead keen to join. Finding the Mumsnet user interface a bit old fashioned.

Kristy17 · 26/07/2020 19:22

@lastditchattempt20 yep still got cramps over here, had them since a couple of days before my first positive at 10DPO - I’m now 15DPO. Oh and a huge congratulations 😊

As to the gp, with my daughter I made an appointment and she just asked general questions similar to the self referral form so tempted to just do it myself this time. I’ve moved now and I’m in the middle of two hospital trusts so no idea if that changes anything, but I’ll probably go with the same one as last time as then I’ve got the option of the new forest birth centre if it’s open this time haha. It was closed the day I gave birth to my daughter so had to go to the birth centre at the hospital.

whiteolive · 26/07/2020 19:52

Evening all, hope everyone’s doing ok today. Sorry I forgot to put a link to the page, no wonder no one can find it!

You should all get to it this way :)

Been feeling a little wobbly today as the lines on the cheap strip tests weren’t getting a strong as I’d have hoped so did a clearblue this evening and got a solid dark line, thankfully.

kwastell · 26/07/2020 20:44

Thanks @whiteolive

I find the cheap strip tests fluctuate a lot too. My lines on them are still pale, whereas on First Response the lines almost as dark as the control. 😅

kwastell · 26/07/2020 20:48

@LurAlba congratulations. I agree, I was surprised with my first baby how non-plussed the doctors were, especially when it's so important to you. Lovely news you got a positive after 19 months. Congratulations ✨

Herbys · 26/07/2020 20:50

Congrats all on the BFPs! 😊

Can I also join please? Due 1st April, was 4 weeks yesterday and already feel that time has slowed down... Don't know how it will feel trying to get to 12 🤞Boobs are killing me and keep having period like cramps which make me panic, but I believe is normal!

Just seen that I can self-refer to midwives but need to be 6 weeks. Will help me feel like I am not jinxing it by waiting!

whiteolive · 26/07/2020 20:51

@kwastell I’m glad it’s not only me in that boat.

My other half keeps telling me to chill out, he keeps finding strips laid out on the bathroom side each morning comparing 😂 I know I need to relax but easier said than done!

kwastell · 26/07/2020 20:55

@whiteolive haha, same here. I try to hide them now. Need to stop! 🙈

kwastell · 26/07/2020 20:58

Congratulations @Herbys 🎉

It feels like its going so slow to me too! I'm really trying to live in the moment and enjoy being pregnant today.

Kristy17 · 26/07/2020 22:06

@whiteolive @kwastell haha, I’ve been doing the same though I’ve just run out of tests today unless I go and buy more 😂 I’ve got 6 in a drawer plus a digital (3 FRERs and 3 cheapy Poundland ones). Not sure how I’m going to cope with no tests, but I’m so glad I’ve been able to see the lines darken lol.
