Hi all,

Found out on Monday that I’m expecting, first pregnancy, still in disbelief so I keep testing, how many is normal? 🙈

Due beginning of April, spoke to my GP who gave me the midwifes number as she said the GP doesn’t really have much to do with it?! Need to ring the midwife but I wanted to wait a few more days and test again to be 100%!

@DMCCF congratulations 😊 id like to know the answer to how many is normal, 20 DPO here and still did a test this morning! Need to stop now lol.

Hey!
First time round for myself - little confused as to what I can and cant do as I took a test (which was positive) after 8 months of trying (yay!) and I rang and asked to see a GP, the reception was very rude and said that I do not need to see a GP I would need to see a midwife but not until September?! Has anyone else had this.. Im just going off the back of a test at the moment :( .. also congrats anyone!

Hi everyone, I will join you. I just got my BFP on Wednesday, and it ya slowly sinking in. Due 16th if April. It is very exciting, but also I forgot how mind bending it is to get around the change that will come. I thought it would be more matter of fact on #2 . Anyone else feel like it’d blown their mind?!!🤯🤣

@Farfaraway1 How did you get on? Are you doing ok? Spotting is always scary.

@crazybat I’m so sorry to hear your partner has not been supportive. It must be so stressful for you. I have a friend who was in the same situation, and now her little girl is the apple of her eye.

I’m In ireland do its a different system. You do have a Phonecall/visit with the GP but It is just to get you on the medical system. There is not much they can do, the test and missed period are main indicators. They like to wait till you have progressed to do anymore tests, as they can tell more. In ireland you have a booking visit at 8-12 weeks when they take bloods, family history, and book you for your 12 week scan.Nothing till then

It feels like an anticlimax doesn’t it! You get the biggest, life changing news of your life....and it feels like, is there not more? Should you not check me to make sure, and that it’s all ok? But nope, you just go home and sit and wonder if it really is true and hope for some symptoms do you can ‘feel’ pregnant. 🤷‍♀️ But it will get more eventful, esp around 12 weeks when you have the scan, and can let the cat out of the bag, and get more symptoms and see a little bump appear. But till then at least we can share on here.

Hi Ladies, may I join please. It’s very early days only just got my BFP but this will be our 3rd. We have a 8yr old DD and a 7yr old DS. They’ve finally become a bit easier and life was more straight foreword and we thought oh yes let’s have another 😂😉😳

Thankyou! I’m 16DPO and due 11th April from my calculations, I have a feeling I will probably test up until the 12 weeks scan until it’s confirmed properly 🙈 congratulations to you too!

@Bouncytree I think it’s blown my husbands mind! He was a little shocked when I told him. Despite the fact we obviously talked about trying and coming off contraception etc. He was just like “ Already? I thought we’d only just started trying!!” Men! 🤦🏼‍♀️ 😂

@abbiek94 Hi! 👋🏻 I think because pregnancy tests are sooo sensitive these days we can pick up conception a lot sooner. Specialists estimate that as many as 75% of conceptions end in v early miscarriages 😕 so GPs understandably can't see everyone that gets a positive test until they have some more assurance that it will be an ongoing pregnancy (obviously some people will need care sooner). I had a chemical pregnancy last month- it's tough seeing the lines disappear. But it's still no excuse for receptionists being rude!

Hello, can I join you? Got a positive test this morning. A bit surprised as first month trying and didn't even think we'd done it at the right time. We have 10 month old daughter, so another one seems a bit crazy now it has actually happened, but pleased to see other people with smaller gaps so it doesn't seem quite as mad!

@frenchtoast88 I have an 18 month gap between my daughter and son. They are 8 & 7 now - they squabble like mad 😂 which is siblings generally I think but it’s brilliant having them close coz you can do they same things with them - they play together - they are interested in the same stuff etc. Not sure how it’s going to work now we’re having another 😳 but I hope my daughter will be really helpful and involved as she’s baby mad - my son couldn’t be less interested 😂

Hi Everyone,

Please may I join this group? I’m completely new to all of this, as I have just found out that I’m expecting today after testing twice and both were bfps! I’m absolutely thrilled but terrified at the same time, I’ve used the due date calculator and it’s showing due date as 9th April 2021.

I am literally clueless and in utter shock to what is going on right now, so please bear with me as I’m also new to mumsnet and don’t know how everything works just yet!

My partner is over the moon but as it’s still early days, we want to keep it to ourselves so thought it would be nice to have a support network on here.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and hopefully you’ll take me in with open arms!
