With dd I had a scan at about 9 weeks and it was so lovely to see the baby in there and feel like it was all getting more real.

This time I'm thinking of trying to hold off a bit longer so I can have a scan and a private NIPT test at the same time, so I'll have to wait until I'm 10+ weeks for that.

I may crack and book an earlier scan as well though!

whiteolive · 29/07/2020 12:07

@MorningOwl congratulations!

You will have to let us know how you get on at meet your miracle. We were thinking of booking one for around the same time when we will be 8 weeks so we might be able to see more than just a blob on screen 😂 haven’t actually booked it yet as I’m worried about tempting fate!

glastogal · 29/07/2020 12:17

I've got a reassurance scan booked for 15th Aug and will probably also be booking a Harmony test for mid-September. Mine is with ultrasound direct I think!

MorningOwl · 29/07/2020 12:17

@mrsmummy1111 😂 stubborn baby! They know that you're watching them.

@whiteolive I know what you mean, I keep panicking whenever my OH tells any of his family cause I'm so early still that it's just such a risk. But my theory is, I'll book it now and whatever happens happens, can always cancel it.

PeachesAndHoney · 29/07/2020 12:19

@glastogal that's who I'm going to go with as well. Although I don't think we actually have a lot of different options around here anyway.

Birnam · 29/07/2020 12:29

@whiteolive definitely feeling the same. It's great that everyone shares their MC stories but at the same time, it's so difficult to see anything other than people telling me about their MCs which is making me so anxious.

I don't think it's helpful to keep testing, at all. It makes things more stressful. I'm not going to do any more tests now. If something goes wrong, it goes wrong. No amount of googling and testing is going to stop that. Easier said than done though I know!

Birnam · 29/07/2020 12:31
@Birnam how often are you testing? Every day? Are your lines getting darker? I’m going to do my second test tomorrow evening and really hoping to see a difference in the tests. I’m trying so hard to restrain myself from testing morning and night... 🙁 the anxiety is just awful..
I've done my initial FRER test, then CB digital, ANOTHER CB digital and then today I took a cheap one with the lines. The line was a lot darker than my initial test so that's fine. NO MORE! Haha! It's so not helpful.

glastogal · 29/07/2020 12:37

@peaches yeah, not many options here either!! They aren't the cheapest but I've used them before and they were really good!

glastogal · 29/07/2020 12:44

@birnam you make a lot of sense!! I know it doesn't help me to keep testing, but I can't help myself 🤷‍♀️ I get a real thrill each time!

AntiHop · 29/07/2020 12:53

Can I join? I got my bfp yesterday. I already have dd aged 5. I'm 42 and we've been ttc since nov last year. Had a chemical a couple of months ago.

BB2021 · 29/07/2020 14:24

Hi everyone, I found out yesterday that I am pregnant! According to the online calculators I should be due on 04/04/2021. I'll be a first time mum and I am totally new to this as my husband and I didn't expect this to happen so quickly.
I'm starting to learn so much about what to expect and still have so much more to learn. Can any of you recommend any books or apps/websites? I'm feeling a little lost!

RosieJess91 · 29/07/2020 14:36

I hope I'm joining this boat! Got a BFP yesterday! Totally surprised, I've had 2 miscarriages this year and wasn't even trying this month, but it happened again! Hoping this one is a sticky bean, odd thing is the due date would be the 1st anniversary of my mother in law passing away, so we're hoping it's meant to be! 💗

Missyrogan8 · 29/07/2020 14:37

Yes I have now booked an early scan also... With window to the womb.... For the 12th August... I will be nearly 7 weeks then xxx

MorningOwl · 29/07/2020 14:44

@BB2021 I'm feeling a bit lost too! Only app I can recommend is Emma's diary. Get lots of freebies and offers and plenty to read too. Congrats!

lastditchattempt20 · 29/07/2020 15:17

@BB2021 congratulations! I find the 'what to expect' website good, and quite clear. Also once you've made contact with the midwife team they should give you advice and the leaflets etc that are quite informative.

BB2021 · 29/07/2020 15:24

Thanks for the website recommendation. I self-referred to the local maternity unit yesterday and they called me today to double check my address. They said I wouldn't hear from them again until I'm about 11 weeks, at which point I'll have a telephone consultation and then they'll book me in for a 12 week scan. Not sure if this is normal?
I only registered with a GP yesterday (moved house recently) and apparently it takes 5wd for the registration to complete - should I also notify them that I am pregnant?

KO045 · 29/07/2020 15:51

@bb2021 congratulations! that sounds about the same with us - got my booking appointment on the 20th august but wont get my scan date till after then. i'll be just coming up on 11 weeks by then. seems the GP's arent doing much in regards to involvement so I dont think you'd need to tell them but im not sure.

glastogal · 29/07/2020 18:02

I have the Ovia app, which gives you little tidbits each day about the developments going on with your chia seed sized babe! It's completely fascinating in the first 12 weeks that they go from egg to practically fully formed human. Blows my mind!

glastogal · 29/07/2020 18:04

Congratulations and welcome @BB2021 @RosieJess91 @AntiHop

PeachesAndHoney · 29/07/2020 18:08

I have the glow nurture app which I like but I think I'll download the Ovia one too.

Serethiel · 29/07/2020 19:57

I also use Ovia and have done with all my pregnancies. I loved seeing what fruit size baby was each week 😄 I'd get so excited to find out. Its updated a lot since then and theres loads of cool new add ons on there.which I like.

I'm due AF tomorrow ladies.....I've never usually found out this early. Usually I'm 2 days late when I discover I'm pregnant. Not 7 days before AF is due 😄

glastogal · 30/07/2020 06:40

Going away with some friends this weekend for some socially distanced glamping.. gonna be fun trying to keep this under wraps, especially since I had been vocally looking forward to a few gins with them! Anyone else got events coming up that they need to navigate? I think I'm going down the "health kick" route..

Missyrogan8 · 30/07/2020 06:59

@glastogal same I have a trip to Manchester coming up with the girls, which is basically two nights out drinking. I think they may all guess as I'm not usually the one turning down a drink! Haha xx

penny92 · 30/07/2020 07:08

@glastogal I have the exact same situation this weekend, so yesterday I went to Waitrose and bought essentially their entire collection of alcohol free drinks. Chardonnay, gin and some kopperbergs! Unless anyone is looking at your bottle closely then no one will know! Sneaky Wink

glastogal · 30/07/2020 07:10

That sounds fun but, yeah, tough to get away with 😆
