Hi everyone.
I noticed our thread was about to fill up, so thought I’d start a new one quick. Hope that’s not too presumptuous of me and have to say thank you to @Sheera1 for starting the thread.

As the title says it’s a discussion thread for any pregnant women who are classed as that bit older for a mum to be.

Copying our list over so we can keep up. If you would like to join please copy and paste the list, adding your own details in date order.

Really hope I’m doing this right! 🙈

Morning all, and thank you for the wise words @AliasGrape

Update here is that baby has arrived!

PregnantPorcupine · 06/08/2020 08:17

Posted too soon, although tbh that got the main point across Grin

She is perfect. Currently having wonderful cuddles and trying to figure out what the heck I am supposed to do with her 😂 Guess she's got even more things to figure out!

Birth was extremely unfun but mercifully fast, and I even got my pool (with about 20 mins to go) and got away with only 2nd degree tears (though midwife took about 2 hours to sew me up.. Not ready to think to hard about that yet..)

PregnantPorcupine · 06/08/2020 08:19

*too hard

AliasGrape · 06/08/2020 08:41

Wow @PregnantPorcupine Congratulations! Sorry it was another tough one but you did it and she’s here! I totally know that ‘what on earth do I do with her now’ feeling.

Well done and huge congratulations xxx

Kelpie123 · 06/08/2020 11:40

Huge congrats @PregnantPorcupine Flowers so proud of you what an amazing thing for your body to do, I can’t even imagine getting to your point Smile

Realladymarmalade · 06/08/2020 11:40

Managed to attend mw appt today and not cry ...u tio the end where we spoke about post birth visits. Still a bit haunted by my ex threatening to leave me when dd was 3 days old .

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 06/08/2020 11:42

Many congratulations @PregnantPorcupine!! Does lo have a name yet?

November can't come quickly enough for me...the longer I'm pregnant the more anxious I'm becoming - & I'm really fed up of feeling sick!!!!!!!!! Dared to eat some seasoned potato wedges on Monday evening (from dominoes) nope....vomited later that evening and felt horrendous for most of the next morning 😳 Avocado is ok though - I've discovered that. Sweet pepper and cucumber are a nope too!

Viennoise · 06/08/2020 12:51

Congratulations @PregnantPorcupine! Enjoy the newborn cuddles with your little one! 💕 I can totally understand feeling somewhat overwhelmed with the new stage in your lives. At times I still feel a bit like a rabbit in the headlights with this pregnancy. Just keep on going 😊

I bought my first baby items today, tiny newborn socks 😍

Sheera1 · 06/08/2020 14:41

Quick post here as have loads to read and lost my place on the thread.

Congrats @pregnantporcupine so pleased for you. Is there a name? I might have missed it as haven't really read posts yet. X

fool11 · 06/08/2020 16:59

Congratulations @PregnantPorcupine! That’s wonderful news. Birth plans always go out of window..these babies just do whatever they want to do..at least you got your 20min in a pool 😄..did you see your neighbour?

We are doing ok, last 3days been non stop, I’m feeding, collecting the let downs, doing formula top up and pumping, washing bottles, feels like we are doing everything and it is exhausting. But he gained the weight so it’s a good news. Also had him checked by a specialist tongue tie midwife and she said that’s it’s really minimum, even snipping it would not make any change so we didn’t do it. I find the pumping the hardest, by the time I finish bf, clearing up etc and pumping I feel the whole cycle will start again. Only managed to get all together 80mls yesterday of collected and pumped up milk which is only enough for 2top ups, so still need formula top ups, just feel my boobs are not producing enough..he a as Lao had a bcg jab today and he was so good, so can’t complain.
Hope you are all well.

Clarkel1 · 06/08/2020 18:36

Congrats @PregnantPorcupine great news x

Realladymarmalade · 07/08/2020 06:26

That's great fool you are doing amazing and its bloody hard work. I remember feeling that I was getting about 10 mins between feeds bc the rest of the time was spent settling , pumping , sterilising.......its exhausting and I hope you can get some semblance of rest.

To the sick lady- I love avocados !

I looking forward to being able to pop normally hopefully in a months time ! #goals

footprintsintheslow · 07/08/2020 19:50

Are we all hot to post today!?

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 07/08/2020 20:20

Yep! Far far too hot! It's been 35 here in Essex. We did go to Tesco - I considered just staying there as it's a 24hr one! The freezer section was lovely!

AliasGrape · 07/08/2020 21:30

I’ve just posted asking for advice on the heat! The three (!) various room thermometers I have are shouting at me that it’s too hot but I’ve no idea what to do about it! Windows open, 2 fans in room, baby just in vest.

I’m not sure how to put her to sleep - she only really settles wrapped in cellular blanket (if at all, generally she just wants to be on me) but it’s far too hot for that. I have a summer baby muslin swaddle thing which seems very light but we’ve not swaddled her arms at all yet and tonight doesn’t seem the night to try it in the heat - I was reading you shouldn’t cover their arms/ hands anyway. I just don’t know.

We’re doing ok apart from me worrying about heat and basically everything else. It’s all very terrifying. LO seems pretty content and I am besotted, though also so so emotional and cry approximately 3 times an hour. Physically I’m feeling a bit better. No joy with boobs still. That still hurts a lot and is the cause of most of the tears.

OP posts:
onlyreadingneverposting8 · 07/08/2020 21:56

@AliasGrape if she likes being wrapped I'd not bother with the vest and go with the muslin lightly wrapped. Possibly sleep downstairs - not sure how practical that would be for you.

Realladymarmalade · 07/08/2020 23:13

Yup. 37 weeks tomorrow. I'm a hot mess, a literal one and not in a sexy sense .
Have spent the week facilitating my kids going to tennis camp and a sleepover (before the covid police come knocking am in Scotland; not Aberdeen mind!) . Their one sleepover of 2020 as we are battening down the hatches- school next week. Also have had a heap of business stuff to do . I'm going to feel the effects of all of this tomorrow 😥.
But yes , too hot :(

Realladymarmalade · 07/08/2020 23:15

alias has she settled ?
I'd agree strip her right down and use the muslins sounds the best approach.

Realladymarmalade · 07/08/2020 23:17

By the way alias that melts my heart hearing you talk about how besotted you are. Clearly a much longed for and loved baby. And she's all yours ❤❤❤ precious
#hormotional

Ethellsmum · 08/08/2020 06:18

Morning all.

Thought I’d pop in now baby is 3 weeks old.
We’ve had feeding issues too - she has a tongue tie and although fed ok the first few days, by day 5 I was so sore.
She’s also lost quite a bit of weight and isn’t yet back at her birth weight so we can’t be discharged from the midwife yet. We are also doing the whole bf, expressing, formula etc @fool11 and it’s making me so stressed. It’s really not sustainable as my poor kids are getting no time and attention from me at the moment.
We have an appt for the tongue tie at least.
Baby is my 5th but I feel as lost as I did with my 1st - 3 weeks in and it’s just starting to get a bit easier.

Realladymarmalade · 08/08/2020 07:11

37 weeks today and up at the labour suite after a small bleed. Everything is ok and his heartbeat fine so hone again.
Made me realise must pack bag as the stuff I hastily put in it is so random! I remain hopeful that labour is not far.
Also I couldn't get hold of the kids dad , my partner is offshore and my family backups were also not picking up. So thank God for my friend for stepping in and mum for driving me up. Oh and the other learning point is that when it all happens I need my kids to go to their dads as soon as ! Ds 9 was all anxious (I don't want you to be in pain mummy ) despite me being pretty calm, dd6 forensically fascinated and excited!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 08/08/2020 10:11

@Realladymarmalade glad to hear all is ok. Xx
