Hi everyone.
I noticed our thread was about to fill up, so thought I’d start a new one quick. Hope that’s not too presumptuous of me and have to say thank you to @Sheera1 for starting the thread.

As the title says it’s a discussion thread for any pregnant women who are classed as that bit older for a mum to be.

Copying our list over so we can keep up. If you would like to join please copy and paste the list, adding your own details in date order.

Really hope I’m doing this right! 🙈

Glad everyone all well, wee question so that's me now 15 weeks, for some weird reason my bump seems smaller this week than last ... how is that even possible? Has anyone else felt this? I'm wondering if uterus has gone up more so it's less at the bottom of my tummy if you know what I mean 🤨

Frazzlerock · 20/07/2020 10:31

Hey @Clarkel1 so glad you found us!

I answered the same question on the previous page to @Viennoise. Let me grab it, save you looking...

Frazzlerock · 20/07/2020 10:33

@onlyreadingneverposting8 LOVE that little dress!

@Clarkel1 This is what I said to Viennoise:
"my bump gets smaller and larger depending on the day and I deffo had the same concerns at about 12 weeks. My theory is the initial 'bump' is bloat so when your actual baby bump starts coming along, the bloat goes down so you can appear smaller, if that makes sense?
DP has said to me so many times 'you're bump is shrinking...' I think that just means I haven't bloated out that day and just have a baby bump" Smile

Frazzlerock · 20/07/2020 10:34

YOUR not you're Hmm. My grammar is really gone downhill!

Frazzlerock · 20/07/2020 10:37

Oh FFS HAS. I give up Grin

Viennoise · 20/07/2020 10:50

@Frazzlerock you could well be right with the bloat vs bump. I’m quite petite in general and had a visible “bump”/ change in the way my belly looked from about 5 weeks, which obviously couldn’t have been the actual baby. I ate my way through my nausea and have gained about 5lbs in weight so far. Last week I was feeling well enough to get back to the gym, so maybe my stomach muscles have just reined everything back in 😂 I’ve got an appointment for the Combined test results on Friday, so hopefully there’ll be a scan and everything will be ok 🤞

Frazzlerock · 20/07/2020 11:24

@Viennoise I'm sure that's the case. My bump still goes up and down now at 21 weeks. Ah... I so miss exercise. I am a keen runner and miss it so much. I also had got quite into boxing too and really miss my sessions Sad I can't wait to get back into it once baby is here Grin
Good luck for your combined test results. Is that the 12 week nuchal fold/blood test results? I get so confused as it wasn't called that when I had mine at 12 weeks.

Viennoise · 20/07/2020 13:02

@Frazzlerock yep, I meant the nuchal fold/ blood test. I’m not in the UK so I’m not entirely sure what it’s called either. I had the blood taken last week and haven’t been called back so far that anything has gone awry. I’m quite nervous about it but am trying to stay positive.

I’ve done various types of sport over the years but started CrossFit in the autumn and absolutely loved it. I’d finally found something that really motivated me and was training 4 times a week. I even did quite well with keeping going via online workouts during lockdown. I’ve got a plan for how to adapt everything to pregnancy but had just not felt up to it for the last few weeks. I’m hoping I can keep going twice a week through the second trimester and add in some outdoor swimming. As soon as I stop exercising I start feeling my age 🤣

Frazzlerock · 20/07/2020 13:13

Yeah I've definitely felt my age since I stopped exercising. I'm just too scared to keep it up. I did start doing Joe PE with the DC when I was first pregnant as I was convinced I'd lose the baby anyway, but I avoided any tummy exercises and then the bleeding started and I had to be on bed rest pretty much. Now the haematoma has gone but after all we've been through the past few years I just can't do it, not running and boxing anyway. I could probably do some gentle yoga if I made some time for it and I have been going for the odd walk.
I figure its only for another 4 months plus maybe a few weeks post c-section and I can get back to it again. I admire women who are able to exercise during pregnancy! It is supposed to be so beneficial all round, especially for prepping for giving birth and losing the weight afterwards.

Frazzlerock · 20/07/2020 15:16

Does anyone remember that lovely brand I posted in here a few weeks ago? Baby Bambi I think its called. Well I finally received the items I ordered, took forever and discovered they are based in China, hence the delay in delivery. The quality isn't great either, just feels cheap and looks so much better on the website. I'm a bit disappointed as it wasn't the cheapest.
Just warning people in case anyone saved the link anywhere, not to bother!

AliasGrape · 20/07/2020 15:51

@Sheera1 well it was exciting but nothing else happening today - apart from constantly feeling like I need a poo. (Maybe I just do and that’s all it is Grin )

Definitely a weird time. At the moment I’m thinking we’ll give it a week once we get home without visitors and then decide what to do for the best, will ask the docs/midwives when we get discharged too.
It doesn’t sit quite comfortably with me -
I know it’s the done thing on mumsnet to ban visitors and just have a little newborn bubble but that’s very much not my family way! But in these specific circumstances we are going to have to be a bit more cautious I think.

As far as I know DH will be able to come to the induction with me and be around in the day but can’t stay at night. That’s what the last consultant said, i can’t find anything to confirm that online though. If I went into spontaneous labour I think the rules are still
that partners can come in when in established labour, stay for a little while after birth but then have to go home when you go to postnatal ward.

I’m sorry your midwife has been rubbish.
It’s so frustrating when the care just isn’t there. I feel a bit adrift at the moment too although I have had all my appointments in person which is good.

@Frazzlerock that’s disappointing that you weren’t happy with your purchases! Is it worth attempting a return or will you keep them?

Sheera1 · 20/07/2020 18:33

What was the item @frazzlerock to jog my baby brain?

footprintsintheslow · 20/07/2020 19:32

@AliasGrape as for visitors see how you feel at the time. On one hand it's nice to have visitors but on the other hand it's nice to have space and with Covid you have the perfect excuse.
All that baby needs is you really (not even your partner) I know that sounds harsh.

Your birth in this world was such a tragic event that I bet you were the silver lining and ray of hope helping people move forward.

@Sheera1 your midwife sounds as elusive as mine although I've booked for a phonecall tomorrow as I haven't had my NT results letter either and it's two and half weeks ago now. I just expected it by now but maybe I'm being unreasonable? Good luck getting what you want from midwife and let us know how it goes.

@Frazzlerock I was doing joe wicks too and loved it every morning but once the nausea kicked in me and him were over. I used hula hoop every evening at home but I'm too scared to now. So I sit and eat crap instead.

Celibacydidntwork · 20/07/2020 20:59

Hi all, you asked for an update, I spoke to the epu today and they said no surgical option available due to covid. I’m booked in at 10 for medical management- 4 pessaries, pain suppository then discharged. I’m pretty terrified because I feel very pregnant albeit baby died at 9.5 weeks I’m now 12.5 weeks so scared after reading lots of horror stories. Don’t think I have much choice.

Sheera1 · 20/07/2020 21:16

Oh @Celibacydidntwork. If it is any help it was all over relatively quickly in the end. It was sore but manageable. It only got rsly intense at the end and was almost over by then. For me it was the emotional side that took a long time to process. We did move house the week after it (best timing) and I remember being really really tired even though I did very little really. Sending hugs. X

MaryShelley1818 · 21/07/2020 06:10

Hi everyone, so I had my NIPT scan last night and everything is well 😊 Baby was super active waving it's arms and legs, and even did a forward roll! Just the anxious wait for results now

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 21/07/2020 06:28

@Celibacydidntwork good luck today 🤞🏼 it goes smoothly and easily for you (physically at least). Be prepared for lots of blood - some people don't bleed so much but others do. I had my medical management in hospital due to having haemorrhaged after a natural mc previously and required large size incontinence pants plus a large size incontinence pad inside them to contain the bleeding. I felt fine though - and as I said before I would have managed fine with just paracetamol as pain relief.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 21/07/2020 06:28

@MaryShelley1818 great news! 🤞🏼for speedy results for you xx

footprintsintheslow · 21/07/2020 07:04

@Celibacydidntwork I'm so sorry you are going through this with limited options and choices. That must be an extra blow on top. I hope you have strong support around you.

fool11 · 21/07/2020 07:20

Thank you all for the lovely wishes. Baby is well although you forget about 24h shifts 🙂 and suddenly it hits u..I had about 2h sleep since Friday..but so worth it, absolutely in love with him. Hope your are all well.

Frazzlerock · 21/07/2020 07:45

@@Celibacydidntwork I have never had the medical option so I can't give you my experience on that, but I am saddened further that your options are so limited Sad How are you doing mentally? Its such a horrendous and traumatic experience. How is your DP? Please look out for eachother and listen to eachother. DP and I nearly broke several times after each of our MMCs. I don't know if you're ready for this, but we planted a tree for our first little one. Something to think about anyway. We actually didn't plant it until our due date but I love going out there and seeing it bloom.
We also kept a scan photo of each of them and have them fall framed on some shelves on our landing with some little cuddly toys, they are fairly hidden around a corner and in an alcove sort of thing so they aren't in anyone's faces all the time. You may not like that idea but it gave me something to do and I never tire of seeing them.
Please do reach out if you need anything. I've been thinking of you Flowers

Frazzlerock · 21/07/2020 07:52

Great news @MaryShelley1818 ! its lovely to see isn't it. Was DP allowed in too?

@fool11 lovely to hear you're doing so well. I am so not looking for the sleepless nights. DP and I are AWFUL on lack of sleep!
If you have any tips and tricks for the early days, please do share! It's been 11 years since my last baby so I have forgotten most things.

@Sheera1 it was the brown teddy bear snowsuit and three ribbed babygrows in black, grey and red. They looked so lovely on the website.
I'm not going to return them @AliasGrape, I reckon it would be a nightmare sending back to China and they're not awful, just not the lovely quality I expected.

AliasGrape · 21/07/2020 11:03

@Celibacydidntwork thank you for the update, I’m so sorry you are going through this and that your options have been limited. Best of luck today. I hope the physical side of things goes as smoothly as possible for you, and that you are getting lots of support. Thinking of you xx

Finally finished the mega blanket after nearly three months. It started off my crochet obsession and was my first project. So pleased it's finished. That was a bit of a marathon 😂
