Hi everyone.
I noticed our thread was about to fill up, so thought I’d start a new one quick. Hope that’s not too presumptuous of me and have to say thank you to @Sheera1 for starting the thread.

As the title says it’s a discussion thread for any pregnant women who are classed as that bit older for a mum to be.

Evening all.

My little one arrived yesterday at 39+4. She is just perfect and I feel so very blessed.
I had an induction - so much more difficult than my spontaneous labours but at least I wasn’t overdue this time.

I think the tiredness, stress and anxiety of this week have caught up with me and I am one big blubbering mess.
The labour was awful and the pregnancy more complicated than my previous pregnancies but I am so gutted that it’s over with. I’m sure I’ll feel better about everything in a few weeks.

Our baby boy was born 2h ago..I’m still running on adrenalin..awful labour..woke up with contractions 7min apart at 2am, WithIn 30min they were 2-3min apart, at 4am at hospital told me I’m 4cm to go for a walk hoping my waters would break, got to the door and couldn’t walk, they checked again I was 5cm, called for epidural guy, went from 5 to 10cm in 1min and he was born few min later..absolutely shattered, but he is wonderful,.not going to forget the pain but glad it’s over..hope u r all well x

Congratulations on the births! It still seems so unreal for me. My bump seems to have all but disappeared today, is that usual for 12 weeks?

Morning all!

Wow, I disappear for the weekend and I'm greeted by not one but TWO new births! @@Ethellsmum and @fool11 huge congratulations! I'm absolutely thrilled for both of you!

@Viennoise my bump gets smaller and larger depending on the day and I deffo had the same concerns at about 12 weeks. My theory is the initial 'bump' is bloat so when your actual baby bump starts coming along, the bloat goes down so you can appear smaller, if that makes sense?
DP has said to me so many times 'you're bump is shrinking...' I think that just means I haven't bloated out that day and just have a baby bump.

It's weird that the same people keep falling off the list. I wonder if an old list keep being brought back somehow? Sorry to those who keep having to add themselves back.

No real news from me. I've started a new blanket, despite not finishing the mammoth one yet. I'm so over that one now

I've got the midwife on Thursday who was going to do a phone appointment, but has offered to let me come in so I can have a listen to the heartbeat.

Morning @Frazzlerock I've started a couple of projects over the weekend but ended up unravelling one and ditching it! I've also started another blanket - same as my first but in different yarn so I'm a good way on with it already.

I'm still unwell most of the time - even threw up on Friday night 🤦🏽‍♀️...this baby is making me suffer 🤣 but I did have some time on Saturday when I actually felt ok!!!!!! Hallelujah!!

Also my arm from the DTP vaccination is still really painful - it aches and is stiff and wakes me up at night 😲😲

I'll stop whinging now! 🤣🤣

Great that you've got a MW appointment- I don't seem to have any appointments except hospital ones - they've sent through scan and clinic appointments for 28, 32 & 36 weeks arrived on Saturday morning. I really need to ring the MW and get her to issue my exemption form, which she said she'd do at 12 weeks but I've never received. I don't mind paying for my prescriptions but I need some dental work doing and I'd rather get that for free....when my dentist eventually starts doing less than total emergency dentistry!

Morning everyone.

I thought something was starting last night had such bad lower back ache and feeling of pressure down into my pelvis and bum. Had to get up and sit on ball slumped over back of sofa with a hot water bottle wedged down the back of my pjs! Eventually it eased and nothing has happened since so I don’t really know what that was about.

Been busy emptying and repacking my hospital bags this morning. Seem to be taking more than I took on our last holiday! It’s just hard as I don’t know how long I’ll be in with the induction. I haven’t even started adding snacks yet.

I’m still feeling we’re quite low on 0-3 months clothes but I don’t know whether to buy any more or just leave it now and assume we will be bought lots.

We’ve been talking about what we’re going to do about visitors and allowing people to hold the baby. I’ve been quite laid back in the last few weeks, going to shops and meeting friends/sister etc albeit with social distancing, but once baby is out in the world I feel like I might feel differently. I want this baby to be celebrated, cuddled and loved to bits by anyone and everyone - I sometimes think about my birth and how because my mother died it must have been such a sad time for everyone and I probably didn’t bring much joy - I really don’t want that for this one! But then I know I need to protect them and DH thinks we should say no visitors at first and absolutely no cuddles for a few weeks at least. I agree with that on one hand but also feel sad about it.

I can't believe you've not had your exemption form yet! I got mine at the first MW appointment and have had my certificate for weeks now, not that I've been able to use it until now

@AliasGrape ooh I bet that was a bit exciting! Maybe it is imminent then... When is your induction?

Re getting close to people. I would say absolutely not until we are instructed that we can. Even then I won't trust the government to get that right and won't be hugging anyone as soon as they say so.
I had a massive rant on FB about people being twats and hugging others. Some even having big get togethers and completely ignoring SD. Man it winds me up. We've all worked so hard by staying away from others, why are others ruining it now?
Some people I know have even had picnics with their new babies and passed them around and are clearly sitting nearly on top of eachother in the photos. I want to scream at them! Rules clearly don't apply to them

I would continue the 2 metres distancing, It sucks massive balls, I know. We all wish we could have those special times with grandparents holding their newborn grandchildren but its just not worth it right now

@AliasGrape ooh that is exciting. Getting close now. Yes that is a tough call on the baby and people holding him/her. My friend had a granddaughter a few weeks ago and keeps showing pictures of lots of people holding the baby and tbh I think eeek! I think close family probably and knowing where they have been and been mixing etc. Peoppe can visit without a cuddle I guess? It is a weird old time isn't it. What are you hospital rules for your partner at the moment?

@onlyreadingneverposting8 yay for a 🤢 free Saturday. What a shame for you. I am back in nausea land but utbus pretty minor. More just difficult finding something I want to eat.
@Frazzlerock I have my midwives 22 week appointment on Wednesday and she is actually seeing me. Wowsa. She has been rubbish so far tbh. Ignore calls and texts asking about my NT results which basically went missing as I still haven't recieved the letter. Had someone else I will never see again do the 16 week call. I also texted and called her worried about headaches and she didn't reply for weeks. When she texted to book this appointment I asked if she could find out what my measurements and scores were for the downs test rather than just the probability and hasn't bothered. 🤔

I am sure she is busy but I feel there is no care there. As an older and risky mother to be I would have expected her to follow up. Oh well.

So I need to ask for MatB1 form and baby box (Scotland). What else at the 22 week appointment?
