Hi everyone.
I noticed our thread was about to fill up, so thought I’d start a new one quick. Hope that’s not too presumptuous of me and have to say thank you to @Sheera1 for starting the thread.

As the title says it’s a discussion thread for any pregnant women who are classed as that bit older for a mum to be.

Copying our list over so we can keep up. If you would like to join please copy and paste the list, adding your own details in date order.

Really hope I’m doing this right! 🙈

@Celibacydidntwork I have had three MMC (and one MC) and had surgery every single time. I personally didn't want to go through the pain and I didn't know how long my body would take, even with medical management. So I felt surgery was best for me.
Physically, all three ops went very well. I'm not sure if you've experienced this before, but after 2 they offer karyotyping which I had for two of mine.(both chromosomal and both little boys)
Hospital experience has been varied. My first time was awful and it was very 'conveyor belt' and zero compassion.
My 2nd and 3rd were much better as they were a different hospital where I had my own room.
Definitely take your time to decide. We all experience this horrific experience so differently. Feel free to PM me if you need support, or keep posting here xx

Frazzlerock · 17/07/2020 15:12

Sorry I meant after 3 losses they test, not after 2 x

Frazzlerock · 17/07/2020 15:48

@Sheera1 as @onlyreadingneverposting8has says, I also think it is round ligament pain. I've had the odd shooting pain if I get up too quickly or sneeze or turn over in bed awkwardly.

footprintsintheslow · 17/07/2020 15:54

@Celibacydidntwork it must be awful being there without your partner and he must hate being away from you.

fool11 · 17/07/2020 16:04

Really sorry to hear the news @Celibacydidntwork..I had a mmc 2y ago at nearly 12w and it’s heartbreaking..really sorry x

I had an op under general aneast. as just wanted to move on quickly and kind of didn’t want to deal with it and it worked for me..it was a good experience, things might be different now, during covid.

Celibacydidntwork · 17/07/2020 16:37

Thanks everyone for your kind messages. You were a great support whilst sitting in the hospital alone. ♥️

I decided to come home and have done nothing yet, the medical management route is prob the one I’ll take but I wasn’t ready there and then.

I really wish I hadn’t seen the baby on the screen at ultrasound, it became real suddenly then bad news so I can’t get that image out of my head. It looked very real and for 9.5 weeks when it stopped growing it looked very lovely. If I hadn’t have seen it I would still be in my unreality place. So a lot to process and I could make a clear decision. I’m now drinking wine and going to sit in the garden and try home medical management of hardcore alcohol 🍸

I’ll let you know how it goes but also don’t want to piss on all your bonfires! Have wonderful pregnancies and I wish you all well

Xxxx

footprintsintheslow · 17/07/2020 16:44

@Celibacydidntwork if you want to inbox me you are welcome but let me know on here if you do as I don't see messages on my phone.

One thing I will say, is when I found out at our scan I always regretted not getting a photo. I wasn't offered one and we were just taken to the special room. I wish I'd asked. You can have a second opinion scan when you are next there. They offered it to me on the same day for my peace of mind. Wish I'd had that scan photo though.

AliasGrape · 17/07/2020 17:01

@Celibacydidntwork I’m so very sorry Flowers I’m glad you’re home and taking some time before the next step. I wish I had better words but I’m thinking of you and sending love xxx

@Celibacydidntwork I'm sure you will feel differently about the scan photo in time. I have a scan photo of one of my mmc's (at 8 weeks before the heart stopped) and an actual photo of the baby of my first mmc. Tbh I haven't looked at the photo of my first since it happened 5 years ago but I'm glad I have it - I know it's there if I ever want it. I also have a charm in my pandora bracelet for each of my mc's.

I had medical management with my second mmc and it was fine for me. Not very painful - took a couple of co - codamol but paracetamol would have been enough. From pessaries to passing was less than 24 hours and I didn't have any problem sleeping.

For now I think you're doing the right thing in having a large drink. Xxxx

DufferedUp · 17/07/2020 17:25

So sorry @Celibacydidntwork. I've had 4 mc, one was a MMC @ 10 weeks. First time I did the surgery but they nicked a blood vessel and I bled for 5 weeks afterwards. Second time I did medical management and it was the most painful experience ever. Ended up in A&E begging for pain relief. Didn't last long though.

Julieb80 · 17/07/2020 17:59

Hi all I’m new, I’m due 22/10/20 it’s my 4th baby, big gap since last one and I’m having a little girl xx

Sheera1 · 17/07/2020 18:02

Oh @Celibacydidntwork I am so sorry to hear that. Alcohol is a good idea for today. I was 12 weeks and had a smear of blood the day before my 12 week scan. It is devastating and I agree seeing the ultrasound. It was a trigger for me seeing them for a good while after. I went naturally the next day. Not going to lie it was painful. Nothing like a bad period as they seem to state. It was actual contractions like labour but not as sore. It peaks and it passes and it is over. Was only bordering on unbearable right at the end but was a couple of hours of contractions till then.

I am so sorry you were on your own too. Feet up, cuddles, cry and a good drink and see how you feel in the morning. If mine hadn't happened quickly I would have asked for the pessary as didn't like the thought of waiting for it for days or weeks. Chances are if it was 9 weeks it should happen soon naturally. Xx

Sheera1 · 17/07/2020 18:04

@onlyreadingneverposting8 and @Frazzlerock thank you. It was seriously sore blinding flash of pain then slowly receded. Will google round ligament pain. I am sure I have fuck all muscles down there too. 😁. Terrified to sneeze now!

NaomiB79 · 17/07/2020 18:10

@Celibacydidntwork I am so sorry to hear your news and can't imagine how hard it was to be told that and have the follow up conversations on your own. Take care of yourself, we are all thinking about you x

Countingblessings · 17/07/2020 18:45

Oh @Celibacydidntwork I'm so truly sorry to hear your news. I was told at 10 wks baby stopped growing at 5. Still get flashbacks now. I did exactly the same as you, home and put a bottle of wine straight in the fridge. I wasnt offered anything straight away and fortunately I went naturally the next day. It's such a horrible, unfair thing to happen but please know you're not alone. As others have said, many of us have been exactly where you are now and we understand so please do let us know how you are and how things go Flowers

footprintsintheslow · 17/07/2020 19:04

@Julieb80 welcome along and congratulations. There's a few big gaps here. I've got one on the way, a two year old and a 21 year old!

Julieb80 · 17/07/2020 19:14

@footprintsintheslow thank you, my eldest is 20, then I have a 15year old and 13year old, have to say I’m a Little nervous this time round x

Countingblessings · 17/07/2020 20:15

Welcome @julieb80 and congratulations on your pregnancy! October's not too far away. Are you all prepared? My little one is 3 so not too big a gap. Wishing I'd made more of an effort to lose my baby weight though. I'm only 18 weeks and look and feel huge Blush

Loved the chat about nursing chairs. I'm really tempted this time round. Are the ikea chairs comfy? I know I'll need to go and try one but they look low down so I worry I'd struggle to get back out of it!!

Anyone else's baby movements ever feel sharp? I'm not sure if I can feel baby moving or just something stretching and pinging?!

footprintsintheslow · 17/07/2020 20:32

I don't think I'll be using the chair for long. I'm still breastfeeding my 2 year old and a chair would've be been great for the first 6 months or so for night time but after that you can feed standing on your head or standing up.
So anyway I think I'll go for a poang because they are cheap and plentiful second hand on marketplace.

Julieb80 · 17/07/2020 20:41

@Countingblessings thanks for the welcome, i more or less prepared, I’ve felt and looked huge for weeks now xx

Sheera1 · 18/07/2020 11:05

Poang is great and really comfy but it is not easy to get up from. It is low and also you sit and sort of lie back in it. If you have good core strength it won't be a problem but if not you need at least a hand to push against the armrests to get up which if holding a sleeping baby will most likely wake it up. I know with a c section it will be impossible. All my couches are really low down too and comfy slouchy rather than to sit up straight. Going to be interesting😁.

Hi @Julieb80. Xxx

footprintsintheslow · 18/07/2020 12:06

Maybe I need to rethink the poang then.

PregnantPorcupine · 18/07/2020 14:00

@footprintsintheslow I have this

www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/strandmon-wing-chair-nordvalla-dark-grey-70359830/

Not tried it for breastfeeding yet obviously but it's incredibly comfortable and quite upright, especially if you put a cushion by the small of your back.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 18/07/2020 18:06

Little dress - this has been hard going! Lots and lots of new stuff to learn! Looks a bit square but fits fine on my daughter reborn doll that fits 0-3 month clothes.

Only reading that's adorable !!!!!! Wow. Lots of impressive crafting on here.

34 weeks and riding the waves of nausea big style tonight. I suspect the addition of sertraline has not helped. 😳. Gulp.
