I did the workshop this morning too, it was good!

@GhostWorld Don't stress, I have bought hardly anything (and I'm not worrying about it!). I have a few vests and babygrows in first size and 0-3, some scratch mitts, and a first size cardigan for bringing the little guy home but that's it! No big stuff at all.
I'm waiting til 30 weeks (which is in 2 weeks for me), I'll probably buy a Moses basket and car seat then as that way I'll feel like I can bring him home safely and he'll have somewhere to sleep!
The pram and side sleeper cot, I'm waiting until September.
There's no right or wrong, just buy as early or late as you feel comfortable Smile

BS9790 · 25/07/2020 17:30

We've bought most stuff now and the nursery is decorated, earlier than I'd have probably liked to of done it.... but I will be going back to work in 5 weeks time and working until I'm 39 weeks. So I want be organised by the time I go back to work at the start of September otherwise it just won't get done!!

Is anyone booking in for a 3d/reassurance scan?

DressingGown87 · 25/07/2020 17:50

Thanks everyone! New bath is in, and it’s slowly all coming together. Can’t wait to be able to shower again at home. One more week, and then I can turn my focus on to me, and sorting things for my little girl!

Hope everyone is doing ok?

@BS9790 I’ve been having them too, when I’ve been walking. Don’t worry, they are quite scary to start with.

@Mc3209 that’s good. I called the nursery on Friday, put her name down. Going to have a look round in November from a parent viewpoint. Be nice to tell her when’s she older than mummy designed her nursery 😊 Don’t work about the “pig” day! We all have them.

@watersintheclouds hope you’ve had a lovely afternoon with the family.

@GhostWorld don’t worry, everyone does things at a different pace. I’m sure your prepared, as you seem to have done a lot of research. I’ve got my travel system, car seat etc, but not having it delivered until end of August? Could you do that. My crib etc has come but is boxed up still. I have a few clothes, bits. My hospital bag is packed, but need more for baby. I just haven’t finished because I’m living in a building site, and don’t want it full of dust. But as I am high risk for being prem, I got the main bits to ensure I’m ready.

DressingGown87 · 25/07/2020 17:57

@BS9790 I had my 4D scan, got it on offer and it was lovely seeing her button nose (although it’s her dads), well worth the price.

@KitKatKit it’s hard managing the acid reflux, I find it’s more timing, than what I eat. Hope you manage to balance it, and enjoyed the McDonald’s!!

OP posts:
WaveStreet · 25/07/2020 21:25

@GhostWorld I'm nowhere near as organised as some are! I'm enjoying making lists and researching though so when it comes to buying gradually I know what I'm after.

I ordered the bedside crib last weekend as its on preorder for August and we have finally just settled on a pram and got that ordered as that's 8 weeks for delivery. We've gone for the tutti bambini crib and the uppababy vista.

@bs9790 I've said I'm not fussed about a 4d scan but then again would love to see him, so undecided. Have you booked one?

SJR86 · 25/07/2020 21:59

@GhostWorld we've only bought the bigger bits: travel system and bedside crib. Ordered the cotbed yesterday as I hadn't realised that there was a 6 week wait time on it and I'm 28 weeks tomorrow.
Otherwise we have nothing else yet but I feel happier knowing the bigger things are sorted and we will be able to get baby home and it will have somewhere safe to sleep!
We're seeing family next week who are passing on a load of baby clothes and things so will feel a bit more prepared then.

There is no wrong or right time to start buying things, everything I've ordered so far is still in boxes in the garage as I'm petrified of jinxing things!

Sls668 · 25/07/2020 22:08

@GhostWorld I feel exactly the same! I’ve bought tonnes of clothes in bigger sizes but don’t feel like we have any of the stuff we really need! My boyfriend might be being made redundant so he’s reluctant to buy the big things until we find out which is understandable but I’m getting impatient!

watersintheclouds · 26/07/2020 09:17

@WaveStreet we’ve gone for the same crib and pram combo. Our vista was on back order for 4 weeks but arrived this week and it’s lovely.

I also felt like we started shopping late but in the last month we’ve bought the pram, car seat and crib plus a few packs of vests/sleepsuits/muslins. We plan to buy more over the next couple of months but I know if baby arrived tomorrow we’d be ok with DH doing an emergency trip to 24hr Tesco and an Amazon order. Our approach has been to buy quality but try to get it on sale or discounted so I’ve done lots of research but we’ve only bought the larger items when they’ve been 10/20% off.

DressingGown87 · 26/07/2020 09:24

@watersintheclouds @WaveStreet I have the same combo too in Jordan! Ordered both at 20weeks After researching loads, but took weeks to arrive / be in stock. Do you find it easy to put down / up on your own?

I’m also waiting for some baby events / sales to stock up on nappies, and some of the “not so important” items. I think some start end of this month?

krissy12 · 26/07/2020 10:08

@DressingGown87 Tesco's baby event is on just now and I think aldi's is back on next week. havent been to Tesco's one but I got loads at the last aldi baby event it was so good picked up packs of muslin, bibs a changing bag some other bits and a travel cot for my parents house

WaveStreet · 26/07/2020 11:37

@DressingGown87 @watersintheclouds great minds! We went for the hazel colour (olive green). It was a toss up between that and the icandy peach in the end but really happy with the vista. I found the vista light enough and smoother to put up/down. I like the option that it can fold with the seat attached if i need to pop it down anywhere to take up less space, although I don't think I'll realistically be lifting it into the car in one piece as it's quite heavy that way and my car is higher than some. Which car seat did you both go for?

I've been picking up odd bits like wipes and nappy cream when I've seen them on offer in the supermarket and we're also lucky that family are buying things like nappies etc as they go along too. I like to spread everything out!

DressingGown87 · 26/07/2020 21:07

@krissy12 thank you Will have a look at them.

@WaveStreet it was between the uppababy, and the MP Ocarro. I loved how it folds with the seat, I tried it in the store, but that seems weeks ago. My car is a SUV so high too, but I’m hoping I can lift it in. I went for the MC pebble pro car seat, it seem really good, and I like how the inserts separate. Which did you get? I loved that colour way. Did you get the footmuff and drinks holder?

OP posts:
WaveStreet · 26/07/2020 22:52

@DressingGown87 i would imagine it'll be easier to lift without the bump we're carrying too! Haven't decided on the car seat yet, it'll either be maxi cosi, cybex cloud z, or have been advised to look at the uppababy one too. I haven't added any extras to the pram yet either but I would like both of those at some point.

FirstSurprise001 · 27/07/2020 06:39

Another Monday, another week.

Is anyone really suffering with their sleep at the moment? If I’m not gulping down water all night because I’m so thirsty then I’m peeing 1000 times. Note to self to ask midwife if I have a 5th water infection of the pregnancy

Last night was just awful, not only the above but also insomnia because I started thinking about (scaring myself) with whether I’m actually going to be able to juggle everything when he’s here. Then DP started back at the gym this morning, getting up earlier, waking me up when I’d finally just got to sleep and setting the dog off before roaring off in his car.

Apologies for the moan, I AM JUST SO TIRED 😭💤

1990shopefulftm · 27/07/2020 08:50

Referred myself to physio yesterday and got an email back this morning with just a couple of relevant short videos to the issue I m having, I knew being seen in person wasn't going to happen but i feel a bit bad now for wasting the person's time emailing when it's just stuff I could have found on youtube.

Think I might look into whether to get a private video appointment with the physio through my health plan as I ve found physio tricky in the past if no one can check I m doing it right.
Will definitely mention to my midwife so they know for their other patients that it's just videos they can find online rather than bothering to tell anyone to do a referral at the moment as she seemed to think that they were still seeing people.

1990shopefulftm · 27/07/2020 08:54

@FirstSurprise001 it's difficult not sleeping as well as you feel you need to, I only need to pee once most nights but I find that it still really throws me off for the start of the next day at least.
I think perhaps our bodies delibrately start making you a light sleeper ready for baby which is just cruel when there's still 3 months to go.

watersintheclouds · 27/07/2020 09:26

@DressingGown87 @WaveStreet we’ve gone for the MC pebble pro too. We went for the Vista in Jake - “of course it’s all black” was the response from my best friend and MIL as most of my wardrobe is black. We haven’t got any accessories yet but we’ll probably get the cup holder and the footmuff for when we switch from the bassinet to the seat. Are you bothering with the car seat adaptors? I’m not sure how much we’d use them.

I saw my stomach moving for the first time last night. Baby was having it’s usual bedtime wriggle and I saw my stomach bulge on one side. DH managed to spot it too. Really weird but exciting to know they’re getting big and strong.

KitKatKit · 27/07/2020 11:49

@FirstSurprise001 Yes, sleep, what sleep?! Haha. It's so frustrating having to visit the loo in the night. I really struggle to fall asleep once I've been woken (I'm basically never going to sleep once this baby arrives!) I tried drinking lots of water all day until 5pm to see if I could limit nighttime wees, it didn't make an iota of a difference Hmm

DressingGown87 · 27/07/2020 13:36

@wavestreet I think the cybex and MC are meant to be Both good. I’ve got the next stage in a swivel already from my step dc, so I just went with a standard one. Keep an eye out for offers on accessories. The place I got my pram from put the footmuff on offer so I ordered it after, then JL had the cup holder on sale.

@watersintheclouds I got that reaction too, but with the grey colour way! 😂 I have got the adapters, just through if I nip to the shop / doctors it might be easier, as i won’t be able to leave her at home and pop to the shop.

@FirstSurprise001 it’s on and off, i get so fidgety and like @KitKatKit struggle falling back to sleep sometimes. she moves position sometimes and is right on my bladder, so I wee a lot, other nights its less. I’ve got use to doing the half asleep zombie wee, but the other night I woke myself up fully as I was weeing on the floor as I’ve moved the toilet in my bathroom, and was obviously too tired to notice / remember! Hope you feel better soon, and your little one moves off your bladder. Try have an afternoon nap, You will cope, are bodies will just hopefully adjust.

@1990shopefulftm I’m sure you haven’t wasted anyone’s time. Mention it to your midwife, I understand your concerns of doing it right, I would be the same. Private might give you some reassurance though, if them exercises don’t help.

1990shopefulftm · 27/07/2020 13:42

@DressingGown87 I ll definitely mention it to her when I have my 28 week appointment. I ll give the exercises a go for a couple of weeks but with not having any pain I feel unsure that I ll know if it's making a difference.

SamK93 · 27/07/2020 14:16

Ladies it was my last day at work today, as I have a couple of weeks annual leave before I take my maternity and as you ladies know i go out in the community and I had 5/6 regular clients that I took care of and look at all these lovely cards! Such a nice feeling to know that you make a difference in people's lives ☺️ my actual workplace, colleagues or manager never bothered but I honestly couldn't care less as these were the people that appreciated me most!

@SamK93 that's such a lovely gesture, I m sure they ll miss having your care and support.

Mc3209 · 27/07/2020 14:35

@SamK93 that's wonderful! Those cards are super 🎉
Congratulations on reaching the mat leave (annual leave + mat leave)! 🥰
I've got another 10 weeks to go and I am counting down the days 😂

roarfeckingroar · 27/07/2020 14:55

I'm with you guys on dreadful sleep. I can fall asleep easily but I'm up and down to wee about 8 times a night and my dreams are troubling. Apparently our babies can now dream - how crazy is that!

Things are a bit tough with my partner too. His work situation is getting worse - over 100 hours last week - and he's literally screaming out for help but the company has lost so many people he can't not do it all. It means he's shattered and stressed and the physical side of our relationship has really suffered and I'm trying so hard to be understanding but I just want to be held and I'm struggling not to take it personally. I'm crying every day. We talk a huge amount and I know he loves me and he's doing all he can, I'm just drained and struggling.

On a brighter note, I went swimming today! It felt amazing to exercise without pregnancy getting in the way and a brilliant change from sodding antenatal yoga. The pool is under my flat so I'm going to go most days now.

I hope you're all having good Mondays. Sorry for the whine. I miss wine.

KitKatKit · 27/07/2020 14:55

@DressingGown87 Bless you, the bathroom reno's really knock you out of sync don't they?!
I'm grateful we have a second loo downstairs whilst our main bathroom is being done, but there's plastic sheeting on all the landings/hallways/stairs, and I have really bad eyesight, so navigating down the stairs in the night and trying not to slip is basically like an obstacle course every night!

@SamK93 That is so lovely, enjoy your time off before your little one arrives!

@Mc3209 Same, 10 weeks and counting... Trying so hard to stay focused on work, but I'm finding myself caring less and less!
