@SamK93 Often not knowing is the worst. It's reassuring that nothing else was picked up though. Hang in there, hopefully you will hear soon xx

KayBM · 19/06/2020 20:10

Just wanted to congratulate you all.Flowers

Not expecting. Got a baby boy who's a few months old, but stumbled on the thread.
If I had my time back, I wouldn't have concentrated too much on work, and worried about buying stuff afterwards...would have just got bare essentials.
Got a good 2nd hand pram that looked like new.

So happy for you all...

Mc3209 · 19/06/2020 20:58

@KayBM thank you for the tip. I am still trying to figure out what's essential and what's not 😬 It took me a while to figure out the baby clothes terminology.. I am FTM, as green as they get 😂

Freddie1987 · 19/06/2020 21:53

@KayBM ahhh that's so nice of you, congrats on your little boy ☺️any tips for the first few months as well?! 😆

@SamK93 agree with the others, it sounds positive but I think not knowing is the worst. I wouldn't mind either way too but I still think it's worth arming yourself with as much information as possible to work our next steps. Hope you get an answer soon.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt congrats!! Is your other boy old enough to understand they're going to be a big brother? 🥰

KayBM · 20/06/2020 06:15

@Mc3209

Well in my opinion newborn clothes... probably not essential. My son only fitted them for a couple of weeks, in fact many he was too big for.

Here's what I would get clothes wise if it was me:

6 sleepsuits. 6 short sleeved & 6 long sleeved bodysuits. 2-3 all in ones (easier to dress), 4 trousers, 6 tops (long sleeved & short), 2 cardigans/jumpers, hats and I coat for each age range. Quite a lot of socks & bibs! They disappear/ get sicked up on a lot... Probably would say get maybe relatives to gift newborn clothes if they want to and then buy 0-3 and 3-6 mths so you have plenty in hand.

KayBM · 20/06/2020 06:22

@Mc3209

Another tip in the summer you can just use a long sleeved body suit and trousers without a top. So something to think about when you baby is a few months old.

Just spotted you're having a boy- congrats. Welcome to the world of searching for boys clothes... haven't found too bad yet, bit definitely seems to be a lot less choice than in the baby girls sections.

PS feel free to pm me if you want to ask me anything.

I'd no one to really talk to during pregnancy who was a mother.

KayBM · 20/06/2020 06:33

@Freddie1987

First few months...just enjoy it as much as you can, get lots of photos and videos. Fill in your baby record book religiously if you have one. It goes so fast.

You in the first few months- be prepared to feel like a completely different person. Personally I'd have plenty of chocolate and coffee in the house for postnatal.
If you get down/ have any concerns go to your doctors.

This is my own unfortunate personal experience, but I have not found female gps to be so great towards me since having a baby. So don't discount male gps...you would think it would be the other way round, but I have found them so much more responsive.

Oh and be prepared for everyone to start asking you when you're having another baby! Hmm

Feel free to pm me if you want to chat. Trust me good coffee is a great treat after months of denying yourself!

DressingGown87 · 20/06/2020 10:04

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt @samk93 congratulations on your scans and little boys 💙

@SamK93 I hope you get some answers soon. It just might have been an angle they took the measurements, especially as there was no other signs. Hope your ok.

My movements have reduced in the last 24hours. It’s usually when I watch tv in a evening, or when I first wake up, but I’ve not felt anything strong. Hoping she is just hiding. My weekly heartbeat check was fine on Thursday, so seems stupid ringing them up.

@DressingGown87
I had a day like that where I felt nothing and was a little worried, but I think it must have been her position because the next day she was moving around loads and my DH felt her from the outside for the first time!

Mc3209 · 20/06/2020 10:18

@DressingGown87 most likely it's just a position, but call triage just to be on the safe side. They much rather you call if you are worried at all.

Mc3209 · 20/06/2020 10:21

@KayBM thank you, that super useful! I didn't get any newborn size so far, got few in 'up to 1 month' size and few 0-3.

SamK93 · 20/06/2020 11:18

Thank you @Mc3209 @Clalou83 @DressingGown87 @Freddie1987

I didn’t sleep all night, I just can’t stop worrying. It’s true, it’s just the not knowing. I can’t help feeling like this. She told me not to worry or be anxious until I hear something which will most likely be on Monday, but its all I can think about. I drove myself mad on google all night. When I’ve tried to speak to my husband about it he hasn’t really said anything at all, just oh stop worrying you don’t even know what’s going on yet. I don’t think he really understands how I’m feeling. I tried to tell my mum and she said “oh we never had all this in our day, they just make you worry for no reason, I’m sure it will be fine” Which really didn’t help lol.

DressingGown87 · 20/06/2020 11:21

@LadyB90 @mc3209 thank you both. Was just having some toast, and was going to text my midwife. Said to bump “we can either meet friends and go for a walk today. Or go and sit in a hospital again, which is it?” And got a good jab to the ribs 😂 I think having perinatal depression and anxiety doesn’t help.

I've been waiting so long I thought to myself I'll wait until after 20 week scan when I know everything is okay and find out the gender then start my shopping, I feel like I'm back at square one am I stupid for feeling like this

DressingGown87 · 20/06/2020 11:24

@Freddie1987 can you go on a nice walk today, or do something to take you mind of things? Even for a short while. The unknown and waiting would drive me crazy too, so don’t worry about feeling the way that you do, it’s completely understandable. Big hugs, and I hope Monday comes around quickly x

Sorry it tagged the wrong person above @SamK93

Glooorb · 20/06/2020 11:25

@DressingGown87 funny you say that, I’ve noticed the same since yesterday too. I was wondering whether he is in a different position, or maybe it’s because the movement is rather apparent and easy to identify now, and so I pay more attention to it and notice more ups and downs!

@SamK93 so sorry to hear about the anxious news. I can imagine that the anxiety of not knowing can be really overwhelming. Look after yourself and the bump though! You need sleep and rest, and as you mentioned, either outcome will be ok. Please take care! Xx

SamK93 · 20/06/2020 11:42

Thank you so much @DressingGown87 @Glooorb it really means a lot to me, thank you for understanding I'm glad I have this group or I'd go mad.

1990shopefulftm · 20/06/2020 11:56

@SamK93 it's not stupid to feel like that at all, I'm sorry you mum and partner haven't been more supportive. I'm very much a be prepared for the worst person and people just don't understand it at all sometimes.

Flora20 · 20/06/2020 11:57

@SamK93 Totally understand the not knowing - like you, I'd be fine either way, but the wait to have anything confirmed must be hard. I would imagine they'll get in touch asap though, so hopefully it'll be Monday at the latest. Try to find something else to occupy you if you can, maybe some crafting if you have any hobbies, or browse for some baby clothes! Something with a productive outcome 🙂 Fingers crossed you find out soon X

@DressingGown87 Glad baby has woken up! I'm getting such big movements now that if I don't feel anything for a couple of hours I start to worry, but I think they spend a lot of time sleeping!

Glooorb · 20/06/2020 13:32

Is anyone still feeling random aches and niggles around your bump? I would randomly feel a pull down a side, another ache here and there...

Also is anyone's muscles around the groin / vaginal area a bit tender? I feel them being more tender when I go to the loo (sorry TMI)

BS9790 · 20/06/2020 15:17

@Glooorb yes I'm with you on all aches, pains, niggles, muscles... The lot!

1990shopefulftm · 20/06/2020 17:06

my coordination condition might have been aggravating it, but my arm and hand was quite uncomfortable yesterday, ended up on google and realising that pregnancy carpal tunnel is a thing so I'm wondering if that's what the issue was. I'd been typing quickly for a couple of hours when it started.
Anybody else got a similar issue?

SJR86 · 20/06/2020 19:56

@SamK93 I can fully appreciate how you're feeling.

I've not posted anything in the last couple of weeks as our 20 week scan was an awful experience and resulted in a referral to fetal medicine. The consultant there was amazing and we had a really in depth scan where they are much more used to scanning in lots of detail - we were scanned for nearly an hour!

We now are being kept an eye on because of low amniotic fluid levels and the baby measuring small (no structural anomalies though), so it still feels really touch and go and I can't get excited or feel justified in buying anything yet as I'm worried about jinxing things. We have another scan on Friday and I am hoping against hope that the fluid levels will have risen.

It's been lovely to see all your scan pics though Smile

roarfeckingroar · 20/06/2020 20:11

@Glooorb yup lots of aches today. I think I overdid the yoga this week because I went on a long but gentle walk earlier and it was not fun after a few km!
