@SJR86 I'm really sorry you had such an awful experience, it's not very nice at all. Being on my own yesterday with the sonographer being soo quiet throughout was not nice at all. It says on my report from yesterday that I've been referred to fetal med too. I'm really sorry your going through all this and fingers crossed I hope everything is well at your scan on Friday. It's good that they're keeping a close eye on you, is baby okay and healthy otherwise? I know what you mean about jinxing things, I'm really sorry I have no other advice for you but just stay positive xxx

roarfeckingroar · 20/06/2020 20:13

So sorry to hear you're having such a tough time @SJR86 I hope your next scan goes well 💖

DressingGown87 · 20/06/2020 20:21

@SJR86 aww so sorry to hear about your scan, and that your going through this. Glad they have done a detailed scan, and are monitoring you and baby closely. Hope everything goes ok on Friday, fingers crossed for you.

@Glooorb @flora20 it’s weird isn’t it. I’m trying not to worry. The movements where so strong, and now they gone back to little bubbles and flutters. Hoping it’s just position. But did get a jab before. I’ve downloaded an app, to see if I can track and monitor the movements a bit more.

As for aches and pains, it’s just my back which is bothering me. But think that’s from over doing it, so I’m on REST!

@SJR86 really sorry to hear it's been a stressful couple of weeks for you, hope you get some answers and options soon. It sounds like everything else is positive with baby's development though, that's something good to focus on 💛

roarfeckingroar · 21/06/2020 13:54

Hello everyone! I'm feeling happy today because I'm 24 weeks so reached viability day!

How are you all feeling? Fancy another round of bump photos?

Elizag20 · 21/06/2020 13:58

Is anyone having growth scans? Are they at set weeks?

1990shopefulftm · 21/06/2020 14:12

@roarfeckingroar got a bit emotional this morning, I've had plenty of fathers days without my dad and the pregnancy hormones on top made it tricky, DH is being wonderful as always and making a nice comforting roast dinner together later.

roarfeckingroar · 21/06/2020 14:22

@1990shopefulftm it's funny how hormones get you isn't it. I lost my mum 25 years ago but since being pregnant it's hit me a few times. I hope you feel better, the roast sounds lovely. DP and I are going to see my dad but then he has to drive away for work until Thursday again and I'm starting to really miss him when he goes.

1990shopefulftm · 21/06/2020 14:50

@roarfeckingroar yes, I ve never said I was particularly hormonal but I ve felt it today.

I think it's just one of those milestones where it reminds you more that they're gone and that they won't be being a grandparent to your baby. Baby's going to have my dad's name as a middle name so sometimes I talk to bump and tell him about the people he won't get to me.

Can you get some nice stuff for a bath and things to watch whilst DPs gone?

roarfeckingroar · 21/06/2020 14:57

@1990shopefulftm I'll be ok, I'm used to it and actually really liked having a few days to myself each week but bloody hormones... at least work is still intense so I'm occupied until 8/8.30.

Talking to your bump about your dad is lovely. I struggle with feelings about my mum so I've just bought a book about being a mother when you're motherless yourself. Sodding hormones 😁

1990shopefulftm · 21/06/2020 15:07

@roarfeckingroar fair play for you to working that late, I d be struggling to carry on that long.

I hope you find the book helpful, I ve a close friend who lost her mum young so I talk to her whenever I find it difficult, I guess I feel like she really gets what I mean so I don't feel afraid to be completely open about it.

Glooorb · 21/06/2020 16:20

So reassuring to hear that other mums are getting aches and pains too. I reckon it’s just things continually to stretch but good to have a group of lovelies to go through it together 😊

@SJR86 sorry to hear about the news. It’s good news that there are no structural anomalies together so definitely a positive there. I can totally understand the worry. I’m so sorry - do take care. Did they advise whether there is anything you can do to improve amniotic fluid levels?

Glooorb · 21/06/2020 16:23

I got my DH a little something for Father’s Day today. He was totally not expecting it so it was nice to give him a little surprise! 😄

@roarfeckingroar congratulations on your milestone. Will do a bump photo when I don’t look like I’ve rolled around in white emulsion paint. Sorry to hear about your mum, hope the book helps, and the days pass quickly until DP is back.

@1990shopefulftm hope you ok. Somedays are tougher than others, it’s nice your talking to bump.

Today Has made me realise that my daughter is never going to have a father. So it’s been quite emotional. Was thinking about when she is at school / nursery and they paint pictures, make gifts, how she is going to miss out. How will I ever be able to explain that.

@Elizag20 growth scans mainly start at 30weeks, if yours on the growth management pathway. They can request to start them earlier (mine start at 26), if they have concerns over your measurements against the chart which they start at 24/25weeks.

@DressingGown87 they can make things for you or maybe your parents, what matters is that you are giving them a loving childhood and that's what they ll remember.

watersintheclouds · 21/06/2020 17:46

@Elizag20 I’ve already been booked in for growth scans at 28, 32, 34 and 36 weeks.

I bought DH a “shh I’m watching rugby with Daddy” baby grow and a card with a scan photo on it. He got quite emotional and said it made everything seem that little more real.

Sorry to all those who find today difficult in one way or another. I know how lucky I am to have DH and still have my darling Dad to celebrate today.

Glooorb · 21/06/2020 18:13

Yes I’m sorry for everyone who may be finding it a bit tough today x

@DressingGown87 well not sure about whether you would want to have other relationships / family after the birth, but if you do find someone, they would be a great dad for your daughter!

Glooorb · 21/06/2020 18:16

We splurged on baby things today... we decided to bite the bullet and buy the Nanit baby monitor (for those who may be interested, it has £50 off on Amazon and the official site for Father’s Day promotion). Then we saw on amazon that if you buy £500 baby stuff you get 15% off, so we bought the Tommy Tippee feeding set as well as a play mat to make up to the amount. Good savings!

SJR86 · 21/06/2020 18:55

@Glooorb @DressingGown87 @roarfeckingroar thanks we're keeping everything crossed. Apparently there's nothing I can do to help replenish amniotic fluid levels...but I'm upping my water intake anyway!

@Elizag20 i think you will only get NHS growth scans if you are on the growth pathway. I've known a few people have growth scans after 30 weeks if their measurements with the midwife don't follow the expected pattern.

Mc3209 · 21/06/2020 22:13

@SJR86 and @SamK93 good luck this week, hopefully it will bring the news you are hoping for!

I've just weighed myself... +8kg at 21 weeks, and that's above recommended gain by those graph thingies that take into account your starting BMI etc. From tomorrow on I guess I am on a healthy eating path.. Not that I was eating complete junk up until now, but definitely enjoyed cookie or two once too often by the looks of things. Gah.

KitKatKit · 21/06/2020 22:47

@Mc3209 I might have to join you there. I dare not get on the scales but I've eaten so much bread and cheese the last few months. I feel huge!

Im 23 weeks tomorrow and the heartburn/acid reflux is soo bad these days. Also, is anybody else peeing like crazy?! I feel like I've had to empty my bladder every hour today 🙄

roarfeckingroar · 21/06/2020 22:58

@KitKatKit yup I'm back to peeing all the time too. It had let up for the past two months!

I don't keep scales in the house because I have a habit of taking dieting a little bit far, but I'm going to weigh myself at my 25 weeks appointment on Wednesday so I can check against the recommended weight gain chart.

Is anyone else really warm all the time?

Argh huge piece of work to do tomorrow to present Tuesday (I need pressure of a deadline to get anything done). Not in the mood for it. Anyone fancy doing it for me? Will repay the kindness with Waitrose non-alcoholic sparkling wine...

FirstSurprise001 · 22/06/2020 06:25

Sorry in advance for the rant but is anyone else just really struggling in general at the moment?

For the last week our dog has decided 3am is wake up, so high pitched barking every 45 minutes. It’s up and down the stairs to take him out or just put him back in bed (basically like having a baby already!!) This morning it started at 2am, whenever I finally drop off I’m having nightmares about the baby coming early or family members dying so not sleeping well. Finally got into a deeper sleep at 5am to be woken by DP snoring. I just feel like I’m not getting a break!!

On top of that, my bosses are being utterly awful at the moment despite working from home. I’m having physio on my back and coccyx as I apparently got ‘too big too quickly’ so my muscles around the base of my spine can’t cope and I’m struggling to walk/sit/do anything. DP works 6 days a week, 12 hours days so I’m in the house all day working, doing my physio twice a day, walking the dog twice a day, cooking, cleaning and just generally feeling like absolute crap and lonely.

I appreciate there’s a lot bigger things going on in the world and I’m lucky to have a healthy baby but just some days (like today) I just feel like completely giving up and staying in bed. 😭

1990shopefulftm · 22/06/2020 07:46

@FirstSurprise001 would you feel safe having a dog walker or friend help out sometimes with your dog, perhaps they can pick him up from outdoors so there's a distance there and have him run round? I can't imagine walking twice a day with how my hip and knee (half the week I don't feel up to leave the house) are and coccyx pain sounds awful.

Has the physio suggested any support pillows or anything for pain management that you can try?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with giving yourself a break and getting a load of stuff in the freezer so you don't use so much energy on the cooking and it really doesn't matter if somewhere isn't clean all the time as long as it's not a health hazard.
