when it does happen they nod sagely and go 'oh yes.. this happens to 1 in 100 pregnant women'

(and why is it always 1 in 100)

I am awaiting your opinions before posting the bizarre things that occurred during my otherwise totally healthy pregnancies

OP posts:

emmy6781 · 20/09/2007 13:09

the wierdest thing about my whole pregnancy was my babys date of birth. 09 09 99

MerryMarigold · 20/09/2007 13:52

Thrush - from about 6mths till the end. Never had it before or since.

empen · 20/09/2007 14:19

I never realised how un-understanding dh would be. He still expects the same slavery treatment even though I can't touch my own toes, see my mini moo or stand up in less than 20 seconds.
No night orgasms unfortunetly only vivid dreams about giving birth in the most awkward situations - every night for the last 2 weeks!!
Baby managed to kick me in the boob the other day - that was weird!

MrsMcJnr · 20/09/2007 15:44

These are fab

I've noticed

  • skin is uniformly darker
  • odd vibrations up my left leg (?)

along with the nocturnal leg cramps, the sleep orgasms, the filthy dreams , the acute sense of smell (can smell other people's breath all the time! ), rages - the new assertive me!

3Ddonut · 20/09/2007 15:56

dd3's due date was 6/6/06, I was worried all day especially when I got 'odd' pains around 6pm, but she held on until the 11th!

I was very depressed throughout that pg, don't know if that's weird or not, and I couldn't breathe from about 8weeks so much so that I got dizzy from it and didn't work for the last 6 months. I'm not popular at work anymore!

AnguaVonUberwald · 20/09/2007 15:58

No-one tells you how tired you will be - and will continue to be, even after you are meant to be "blooming".

How come if I am blooming I am so sodding tired then?

(p.s. this is post first trimester)

Slubberdegullion · 20/09/2007 16:04

I grew what was affectionately referred to by DH as Gimli's Beard. My pubes just took off, potato tuber stylee...where were they headed? Maybe searching out the light. Hideous. I hacked them back several times but there was no stopping them. Should have left them to grow maybe and measured them for a Guiness World Record.

Oh and I dribbled non stop.

designerbaby · 20/09/2007 16:14

I got stuck in the bath the other night... hadn't had one for a while and hadn't reaslised quite how unwieldy I'd become... could find nothing with which to leverage myself out - didn't want to grab onto the taps as they're a bit dodgy anyway and was convinced I'd pull 'em out of the wall.

Had to lie there yelling for DH, who apparently went temporarily deaf. Fortunately after a while he came up of his own accord to find out how long I was going to be, and was able to haul me out...

How embarassing... DH will be telling this one to amuse our freinds for weeks, the git.

I had no morning sickness, but would wretch violently every time I brushed my teeth.

Just seen your post kualalump. Weird how something so fresh and minty could make you feel so awful.

jellyjem · 20/09/2007 16:21

Does anyone else get frequent and very sudden hickups? I'll just hickup once then its gone for an hour or two, then I'll get it again. Happens at least 10 times a day and has done since I was about 6 weeks.

MamaD · 20/09/2007 16:55

Skin Tags......WTF??

I remember spending ages in the shower trying to push a 'pile' back in (TMI ) only to discover it wasn't one! Then more appeared, on my back, my neck and arm.

Midwife actually said 'oooh we hardly ever see these - you ARE special'

After birth they all shrunk until they finally disappeared.........except that first one hmmmmmm

plus stuffy nose, giant feet, mood swings and being scared of dog food (because it made me retch) poor bloody dog was lucky it didnt starve lol

ShellySara · 20/09/2007 16:56

This one has to be soooo wrong - I cant face chocolate anymore!!!

I am the original chocolate monster, and now, yuck! Cant face it - tried eating some more again today but it was so horrible. I did manage to finish it though. Just dont think I will have any more for a while!

The other strange thing I have is that I feel like my hips are popping out the sockets - owww!!!

primigravida · 20/09/2007 17:20

My lactose intolerance went away, I can eat as much dairy as I like now whereas before I got pregnant it used to make me sick.

mummydood · 20/09/2007 18:59

opposite of Crookshanks dry fanjo!

ahem ..... (she whispers)fanny farts!

yetihed · 20/09/2007 19:02

I love this thread...

Inability to tolerate any kind of artificial ingredients in anything- even added calcium in orange juice sets my stomach off.

Feeling like I'm living in a bubble.

Lumps in the bottom of my feet!

3Ddonut · 20/09/2007 19:38

I used to be a bit dodgy with dairy but after having my son, my 2nd pg, it got MUCH worse. I got sick from my baby (no 3) coughing milk 'shards' into my mouth the other day, I'm VERY sensitive to all dairy now and can only have soya, it's a pain.

FuriousGeorge · 20/09/2007 19:44

Getting a varicose vein in my armpit-still there 4 years later.

Developimg a little roll of fat across my lower back[thanks dd2!].

tyaca · 20/09/2007 19:57

horny as.... but no night orgasms (prob for the best)

from eight weeks, only been able to wear sandals as anything else gives me foot claustropobia and panic attacks...

Coolmama · 20/09/2007 20:10

Piles, piles, f*&^ing piles!!

  • you know how your nipples darken when you are pregnant?, well so does the inside of your vagina - no more pink skin and, just like your nipples, never changes back again -
  • feet are half a size wider - -the terrible pains when your stomach muscles start to stretch.

I'll second the hair growing fast and not just on my head. I don't want to have such long hair down there! I'm going to have to trim before I can't see it anymore!

And the finding my dh's breath so disgusting I couldn't sleep if he is facing me. And I don't like the smell of my house.

sleepfinder · 20/09/2007 20:42

Coolmama you just described me to a T.
I had a look down there the other day and wondered what was different - it didn't occur to me I'd gone from pink to brown but that's it.

I can't even remember what my boobs were like before. I should have taken a photo.

Eaglebird · 20/09/2007 22:28

Drooling whilst asleep.
Snoring so loudly that I wake myself up.
Uncontrollable farting
