Hi all, I hope its ok to join the thread at this point! I'm 16+4 , and riddled with anxiety on account of having a very wobbly start to a high risk pregnancy, so finding it very useful to read of all of your experiences, and the upbeat messages. Hope everyone is keeping well x

1990shopefulftm · 06/05/2020 15:29

@Gogol253 of course you can join us :)

WaveStreet · 06/05/2020 15:32

@gogol253 welcome! Sorry to hear you've had a stressful start, hopefully things continue to remain positive for you.

I don't think they are doing 16 week appointments in my area but maybe your timing is just a bit late @SamK93, they must all be struggling with how to deal with things, who knows!

Sls668 · 06/05/2020 16:53

My 20 week scan is not until 12th June, does anyone think partners (or have inside knowledge) will be allowed to scans by then?

1990shopefulftm · 06/05/2020 17:08

@Sls668, mines on the 8th of June, I'm assuming it won't be possible so I've come up with how I m going to tell DH the gender.

KitKatKit · 06/05/2020 17:11

@Sls668 I really hope they do relax the rules a bit surrounding maternity support. It would be nice to have the option of taking your partner/friend/mum with you if you wished!

I don't have any insider knowledge though haha Grin

@Gogol253 Welcome! We're all here for a natter should you need it Smile

Sls668 · 06/05/2020 17:12

@1990shopefulftm that’s what I’m thinking. I’ve read on here some sonographers won’t write down the gender so if that’s the case I guess we’ll have to go private as I don’t want to find out without him

Sls668 · 06/05/2020 17:16

@KitKatKit it’s the day before my Birthday so would be such a nice treat to be able to go and find out the gender together! I’ve got everything crossed 🤞🏼

WaveStreet · 06/05/2020 17:24

@sls668 snap, mines on the 12th too. I'm hoping they might be allowed by then but i suppose it depends on what the plans are for easing lockdown generally. I would rather go alone than have increased risk to everyone if they can't be sure it's safe so just keeping my fingers crossed too.

1990shopefulftm · 06/05/2020 17:24

@Sls688 , yes my hospital refuses to do it. We decided to save the money for a private scan, later on, in case of concerns or if we get lucky and can have a 4d one.
DH is going to wait in the hospital carpark incase there is any bad news but it's only a 5 minute drive to the hospital and then I can do a gender surprise when we get home. DH is very much if something out of his control, he doesn't worry about it.

WaveStreet · 06/05/2020 17:25

@1990shopefulftm ooh what have you come up with for the reveal to your DH?

Sls668 · 06/05/2020 17:31

@1990shopefulftm that’s what my partner is like. We ended up going private at 10 weeks but just because I was a nervous wreck but he was very much ‘well if I can’t go, I can’t go. As long as the baby’s healthy, that’s all that matters’. I wish I could be so rational!

1990shopefulftm · 06/05/2020 18:05

@WaveStreet I ve ordered a confetti cannon for him to pop one in each colour and then I can donate the other one to any pregnant ladies locally.
@Sls668 yes I got a private one at 8 weeks and DH was able to go, so he's grateful to have seen them once and not worried at all about labour if covid means things still change, it's good to have someone balance your worrying out isn't it ? :)

WaveStreet · 06/05/2020 23:00

@1990shopefulftm aw that'll make for a special video to capture his reaction!

Mc3209 · 07/05/2020 08:13

@Gogol253 welcome! Cool name, anything to do with russian writer by any chance?

DressingGown87 · 07/05/2020 08:13

@Gogol253 congratulations and welcome. I’m a high risk pregnancy too. Feel free to vent and ask as many silly questions as you like on here!

@1990shopefulftm that sounds a great plan with the cannon.

Mc3209 · 07/05/2020 08:14

@DressingGown87 how are you feeling? Have you recovered from that awful program?

OP posts:
sunbreak · 07/05/2020 09:02

Hey does any of you still get mild cramps low in the belly area? I get them every so often, they don't seem to last for more than 15 mins or so and have no blood or anything, just mild cramping.

Clalou83 · 07/05/2020 09:07

@sunbreak Yeah on and off some days and not others.

I actually prefer when I have some kind of symptoms as at the moment my sicky feeling has gone which I've had from week five to week 15. So feels weird as that was my reminder / reassurance everything was normal / ok??

Crazy this pregnancy experience ya never know what's happening do ya. I think once the 20 week scan is here I will feel more reassured???

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 07/05/2020 09:14

My local private scan place has stopped doing gender scans, no idea why. So I ha e to wait the long 6 weeks until my NHS one.

Yes @sunbreak, just growing pains I reckon

DressingGown87 · 07/05/2020 09:44

@Mc3209 yes thank you, I saw the reviews and most people seem to think it was great. I think it was just the reality that hit home, with me. Still cramping on and off, with twinges. But at the hospital today for my 16week appointment. Hope your ok?

@sunbreak yes I am, going to speak to my midwife + consultant today. Hoping it’s just stretching.

@Clalou83 it is crazy isn’t it. I’m hoping 20 weeks is the point I feel a bit less anxious too.

@monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt have they starting going the health scans, as some places are doing them, and disclosing the gender at the same time?

Clalou83 · 07/05/2020 10:28

Everyone seems to be having a 16 week appointment. Must be different where I live mines 18 week and I was told it be a phone call but not heard anything yet. 😃

DressingGown87 · 07/05/2020 10:36

@Clalou83 I’m under consultant care and not midwife led so I don’t know if that makes a difference. Because I have to have blood tests, and heart rate checks, they had to do it in person. But I do think most are over the phone. Strange it’s at 18weeks though x

1990shopefulftm · 07/05/2020 10:41

@Clalou83 I m midwife led and they said I might get a call next week when I m 15 weeks but I m not too worried if I don't. I ve been checking my blood pressure and although it's lower that's apparently perfectly normal so nothing I need to speak to a midwife about really :)

Clalou83 · 07/05/2020 11:28

@1990shopefulftm @DressingGown87 At this stage I don't know what I am. At my 9wk apt she just told me about the options. Think I'd like to be midwife led.
