@flora20 that would be amazing!

DressingGown87 · 27/05/2020 16:18

@elizag these are my lists which I’ve done this afternoon. A big OTT, but I thought if I can get everything down I can work it out! Let me know if I have missed anything off. Somethings are for later on, but it’s going to be Christmas, so thought if I see stuff in the sale etc I could get it.

Ignore the autocorrect MUSLIN SQUARES

Glooorb · 27/05/2020 16:27

@DressingGown87 ooh this list is really helpful, thank you!! :) Did you put this list together or something that can be downloaded? Really useful to make sure we haven't missed anything

roarfeckingroar · 27/05/2020 16:40

@DressingGown87 calls started just after 8 this morning and are ongoing today! It never ends. My back is sore from not having a proper office chair so I'm lying flat on the sofa with my camera firmly off!!! Thank you for your care - DP is away until Friday again and I'm so bloody fed up and heavy and bored of needing a wee and exercise not doing itself.

@KitKatKit I've bought Gaviscon and am hoping for the best. I now want a curry!

@Flora20 oh love, that's quite funny so long as he didn't mean to drop a bollock. Mine is trying to convince me that it's the baby, not me, but it's making me pretty miserable today and I miss being slim and doing hardcore exercise. Ish.

roarfeckingroar · 27/05/2020 16:41

@DressingGown87 that is one hell of a list 😍

DressingGown87 · 27/05/2020 16:46

I’ve made it but if you want can email it (PM me an email address), I just thought if people ask what I need I can answer. Plus don’t want to going to the shops lots, or duplicating 😂 it’s work in progress. I don’t need much furniture, as ive got wardrobes and stuff, and can’t BF due to medication.

@roarfeckingroar that sounds a tedious day. I know the feeling, I just sit there thinking I cba, and get up and down all day for a week. Hope the Gaviscon helps!

KitKatKit · 27/05/2020 16:46

@roarfeckingroar Yeah Gaviscon tablets are my best friend! On a side note, have you tried sitting on a birthing ball/ exercise ball instead of your desk chair for part of the day? I have a proper office chair at home so that's not causing me any agg, but my sofa is really making my back hurt at the moment and sitting on the ball takes the pressure off a lot.

@DressingGown87 That is one heck of a list, bravo Grin

Flora20 · 27/05/2020 16:48

@ElizaG20 Ok... In no particular order, as you'll see! We had a moses basket but she never stayed sleep in it and ended up cosleeping. We never got one but I'd probably recommend a next to me instead. Sling - an absolute lifesaver, find your local sling library now and get a stretchy wrap! Changing table - we didn't have room but glad we didn't bother as we ended up using the floor after a couple of weeks anyway. Feeding - if you're breastfeeding, get lansinoh cream and some breast shells - they collect milk while you're feeding on the other side but more importantly hold your bra off your nipple if it's sore. They stopped me going topless instead 😂 Also bf related, get a big insulated cup for huge amounts of tea. And huge amounts of biscuits!

Clothes - everyone told me to get 0-3 but baby was small and had to send mum out for newborn on the first day! Don't get too much of anything very small though as they do grow ridiculously quickly. Sleepsuits are fab and so much easier than trying to wrestle tiny arms and legs into the cute trousers and dresses you'll see...ditto kimono style vests that don't go over the head! 3 or 4 cardigans,, a pramsuit, a couple of hats - they don't need a huge amount of extras.

The only other thing I can think of right now is that we were persuaded a vibrating bouncer/swing thing would entertain her - she hated it and all the babies I've know since have been the same. Get a cheap basic bouncer chair if you want anything and save the money!

I'll probably think of something else later 🙂

Elizag20 · 27/05/2020 16:49

@DressingGown87 thank you, that’s super helpful!

roarfeckingroar · 27/05/2020 16:49

@DressingGown87 I truly don't care anymore. I had some great EOY feedback today and of course focused on the negative - one of my main stakeholders was obviously scrabbling (and otherwise v positive) and said I had missed chairing a meeting. When I was on annual leave, as explained in advance. Sigh. I want wine. Lovely lovely cold wine. Alas.

@KitKatKit a ball you say... does this work? I'm keen to give it a shot if it helps / doesn't take up too much space.

DressingGown87 · 27/05/2020 17:00

@roarfeckingroar I’m sat in my egg chair with a ice cold Pepsi! But it’s just not the same!! Try not to focus on the negative, sounds like you’ve had some great positive feedback. I’ve finished some building regulation drawings which have been playing on my mind, so that’s my achievement for today!

Freddie1987 · 27/05/2020 17:18

@DressingGown87 as a list person, your list is very pleasing on the eye! Plus, I may have to nick some of your ideas 😆thanks for sharing!

What I would do for an ice cold glass of dry white wine right now...oof.

roarfeckingroar · 27/05/2020 17:23

@DressingGown87 well done!!!

1990shopefulftm · 27/05/2020 17:56

@DressingGown87 great list, I'd forgotten about things like gripe water and sunshades for the car, I haven't come across a gro clock?

I love the look of a gro egg thermometer and my sister had one so thought it might be helpful, not sure whether to get a night light as well of if leaving the thermometer on is a good amount of light.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 27/05/2020 18:09

Tbh, go clock only really came into play when babe could understand night and day, bedtime and up time. Useful for the future through

KitKatKit · 27/05/2020 18:21

@roarfeckingroar Yep, I got one quite cheap from Amazon - just google birthing ball/exercise ball, but make sure you get the right size one for you depending on how tall you are. I'm 5'4 and got 65cm I believe.

@60sPony hey I've just had a thought about those night time pins and needles- it might be when we roll over onto our backs that it happens. I had a bit of a lay down this afternoon and was on my back, and the pins and needles returned! So I wonder if that's what's causing it at night Grin

DressingGown87 · 27/05/2020 19:11

Thank you! Let me know if you think I’ve forgotten anything.

@1990shopefulftm I meant the Gro Egg for the room. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I’d just order my niece a Gro clock as she seems to think bedtime / morning is at stupid times since lock down, so will definitely get one of them in the future.

1990shopefulftm · 27/05/2020 19:19

@DressingGown87 easy mistakes to make, seems like they're made by the same company.

Flora20 · 27/05/2020 20:47

@DressingGown87 Wow, I was never that organised 😂 We were given a gro egg and it was good in the earliest weeks when you're paranoid about everything. Got a groclock now but still waiting for her to get the point of it!

WaveStreet · 27/05/2020 21:01

Thank you @DressingGown87 for sharing your comprehensive list, super helpful.

Hope everyone is doing ok. I keep wondering if I'm feeling baby move but I'm not sure!

DressingGown87 · 27/05/2020 22:03

@Flora20 thank you I will defiantly add biscuits to the list!

@wavestreet thank you, hope it helps someone.

I have weekly perinatal sessions, so my homework this week was to make a list. It’s all about tackling things one step at a time, so I don’t overwhelm myself, and can get things at my own pace, without getting anxious or lost, and worrying about forgetting something.

SamK93 · 28/05/2020 13:59

@Freddie1987 thank you for your reply yesterday, I tried some stretches before bed last night it did help a little.

Hope everyone's okay today and enjoying the weather x

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 28/05/2020 15:14

So tired today. Not helped with having to bunk up with my 4yr old this am due to him having a nightmare. Sharing a single with a bump is not fun!!

Freddie1987 · 28/05/2020 15:38

@SamK93 no worries, glad to hear it! ☺️
