I am wondering about maternity knickers as mine are straining to fit 😬😬😬 I don't think my boobs are getting bigger but my backside certainly is

DressingGown87 · 25/05/2020 21:07

@justtb yes they are! I’ve had my fair share over the years. But you just need to do what’s right for you, and remember that you will have support. The father of my baby is 35, would have thought he wouldn’t be so immature, but guess not. Just remember not all men are like that, and there are some really lovely people out there.

I don’t know much about my maternity knickers! Mine are surviving so far 😂

WaveStreet · 25/05/2020 22:28

I've only bought a few basics like sleepsuits, muslins, a sleeping bag etc, either if there's been a discount online or picking up bits in the supermarkets, I suppose he won't be in newborn for long. At least with a boy it's pretty certain the sex is correct!

Waiting to get over the 20 week scan and I'll start with the bigger things, looks like we'll be able to get out to shops too.

We decided to wait and discuss names once we knew the sex. I have one I like but i think it's a popular choice, not that i mind too much - my name has been popular for years and it's never bothered me. DH isn't very forthcoming with opinions or suggestions so far except one out-there one which we will not be using 😂 I think we need to sit down with a list each, tick off ones we like and see if we agree on any.

SamK93 · 25/05/2020 23:41

I think I'm the only one who hasn't bought anything yet, I do have a few baby clothes from DS and DD but other than that, nothing! I think I'm just apprehensive and waiting for my 20 week scan which isn't even for another three weeks, the wait is killing me. By the way I think I read that one of you have started getting up for a wee at night? Omg I can't hold mine in at all, I must go around the 20 times during the day and a good 3/4 times at night.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 26/05/2020 00:11

@Flora20 Yeah whatever! The only thing obvious was that you actually didn't give any advice. This isn't the first of it you know, the way you constantly pick on my posts here, throwing in sacarsm at every opportunity. We all can't like the same thing in life. And everyone has rights to opinions. You don't have to always emphasize on my advice or opinions with contempt in order to give yours.

Flora20 · 26/05/2020 07:38

@UpsyDaisy1234 Excuse me?! At no point have I been sarcastic, picked on you or done anything other than offer advice or support to women in here in general. As the point of the board was, I thought. If you're upset then I'm sorry for that, but it's certainly not some personal vendetta as you seem to have decided! I'm shocked at the hate and personal attack in that last post. I genuinely hope you're feeling happier today than you were last night.

Clalou83 · 26/05/2020 07:43

@SamK93 Hi lovely yeah it is a long time between the 1st and second scan isn't it. We have 2 weeks to wait on Thursday. Last week we had a private scan as I got myself so anxious thinking 3 weeks.
But I know we are lucky my mum only had one scan just before she gave birth to me.
Hang in there I keep saying to myself good things come to those who wait. Lol
I think this period of time makes it tricky as that's all we can focus on. Keep busy and take care x x

UpsyDaisy1234 · 26/05/2020 08:30

@Flora20 Actually i'm very happy this morning than i was last night, hearing you apologise. That's what you should do when you hurt people.

Flora20 · 26/05/2020 09:02

@UpsyDaisy1234 I cried this morning when I read your message. So yes, an apology would be nice.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 26/05/2020 09:22

@Flora Apology taken. Thanks

Sls668 · 26/05/2020 09:40

@SamK93 I thought that too 😂 normally I never wake up to wee in the night but it was one of my first symptoms - from VERY early I started waking up at 5am to go for a wee.
Now, I’m very lucky if I don’t have to get up once, sometimes twice but, believe it or not, baby let me sleep a whole 8 hours without having to get up last night!

Flora20 · 26/05/2020 10:24

@UpsyDaisy1234 Seriously? I'm a teacher but thought the playground politics were for teenagers. Please just assume that anything else I say on here is specifically not addressed to you, just in case you find it offensive in any way. I'm sure everyone else would like the board to get back to a discussion of their pregnancies so have a lovely day everyone.

Lolllyf · 26/05/2020 10:27

@SamK93
I am going twice in the night! Started very early. My uterus is retroverted (I think, have been told this at smear test and gynae) and this apparently can make this worse.
At my 16 week appointment my urine dipstick looked like I may have a UTI so urine sent off and came back as UTI so taken antibiotics. I was asymptomatic then and really didn’t think I did! But while waiting for results felt like I needed to go more urgently. I still didn’t have any pain or burning when urinating.
Anyway it’s a bit better now but I still have to go much more often than before so I suspect it’s just pressure.
I have never had a UTI as an adult before either.
Anyway, if you are worried maybe get your urine checked!

1990shopefulftm · 26/05/2020 10:48

@Sls668 glad baby let you get a whole nights sleep, I ve started needing to get up some nights this week but I don't want to drink less as I know I ll wake up because I m thirsty.

roarfeckingroar · 26/05/2020 12:08

Woah @UpsyDaisy1234 - not really necessary !!! I can't see where @Flora20 has picked at you at all, not once... let's try not to single people out here.

roarfeckingroar · 26/05/2020 12:11

It's a beautiful day again here and I'm on a six hour conference call. I cleared the whole terrace and planted a mixture of flowers and seeds so it's lovely out here and I'm just not going to turn my camera on for the call Smile

SamK93 · 26/05/2020 12:26

@Clalou83 I'll be 18 weeks on Friday, my scan isn't until the 19th June, just seems so far away, it's true though sometimes it's all I can think about. Hanging in there though thank you x

@Sls668 same here, weeing frequently was one or my first symptoms too lol. Everything you said is literally me lol. Very similar pregnancies and same due date? Lol x

@Lolllyf I don't think I've ever had an UTI as an adult either, if I don't get up to wee straight away it's a horrible pressure down there. I can sit on toilet for ages and drops of wee will just keep coming lol. I always heard that it's a burning sensation if it's a UTI too so I'm not sure. My "16 week scan" isn't until next week where I'll actually be 19 weeks I'll mention it to her then, hopefully it wont be an over the phone one.

Sls668 · 26/05/2020 12:42

@SamK93 we also have the same first name!

I ordered these which came today, I realise the pom poms are ridiculously huge but they’re so cute. My dad’s response when I showed him was ‘Oh dear, poor little bugger!’ 😂

Freddie1987 · 26/05/2020 12:50

@Sls668 😂your dads comment. Very cute! I've got my eye on so many cute outfits, don't even know where to begin?! One other thing that made me laugh this morning, my best friend sent me a pic of her just turned 1 year old girl wearing shorts/bloomers I'd bought her aged 3-6 months?! She's a normal sized baby too, randomly they have just been super oversized!! Reminds me of when you were a kid and your mum used to get your school uniform three sizes too big so you'd grow into it...

Lolllyf · 26/05/2020 12:56

@SamK93 yes I would mention it! It may just be pressure. I had that too, it felt like my bladder wasn’t completely empty and would then have to go again in 5 min. That sensation of urgency has gone now after antibiotics. I had no burning at all. Not emptying your bladder fully can also predispose to a UTI. Luckily my 16 week appointment was in person so my urine was tested. I think if you are concerned mention it to your midwife.

DressingGown87 · 26/05/2020 13:11

@Sls668 them hats are too cute!!

I have the concentration span of a 2 year old, at the minute. Then as soon as I get into something, I need to pee!! I had a weak bladder prior to this, and now I can’t stop weeing!

roarfeckingroar · 26/05/2020 13:40

@SamK93 "oh dear, poor little bugger" is my dad's reaction whenever I tell him potential baby names 😂. He wonders why I don't tell him now.

Elizag20 · 26/05/2020 14:23

Hey I’m new to this thread! 19 weeks pregnant ☺️ Baby had been really active but I haven’t felt anything in about 24 hours and now I’m starting to worry. Is it too early in the pregnancy for me to call the helpline? Also I got really badly sunburnt yesterday by accident, could this have something to do with the no movement...

Freddie1987 · 26/05/2020 14:55

Hi @Elizag20 welcome 👋

I wouldn't worry too much about the sun affecting you unless you got severely overheated or felt faint? Obviously no burn is better than burning but I doubt there would be a risk to the baby. Have you checked NHS to see if there's any guidance? Maybe give your midwife a call if it's worrying you.

As for the movement thing, baby is small enough to be doing all sorts of somersaults in there and might be in a position which means you can't feel any kicks. I don't think you're supposed to monitor them daily until after 24 weeks or something so it's pretty early...what I like to do is lay down somewhere quiet and put my hands on the bottom of my belly and do a bit of meditation, once you're fully relaxed you sort of tune into even the smallest of flutters or kicks. I think eating something sweet is supposed to get them moving too if you want to try that! Again, call your midwife to put your mind at rest if you're still struggling. X

Jaffas22 · 26/05/2020 15:25

My sister had given me her next to me crib, she only bought it in March as my niece was too big for the Moses basket but she felt it was too early to put her in her own room ... is it recommended I get a new mattress or will it be okay as it’s only been used for 2 months?
