@justtb yes I’m single! Doing it alone 😳

justtb · 24/05/2020 18:11

@DressingGown87 I've accepted for a while that I could possibly be doing this alone, think it might be a reality soon. At least I know there is someone here 💖

roarfeckingroar · 24/05/2020 18:50

We're planning to spend a month in Australia and New Zealand for a wedding and seeing family in April because I'll be off anyway Grin. Also planning to get married end of next summer and then Maldives for the honeymoon - also with baby - but it'll be little and easily enough entertained. When I was a kid (only child) I sort of fitted into my parents' lives and travel and we went all around the world - I loved it. I want the same for this little one.

WaveStreet · 24/05/2020 19:50

Hope you're ok @justtb

All this talk of holidays has got me dreaming! Before covid I was hoping for one more adults only before baby but obviously that isn't going to happen now! DH is Australian with most of his family there so we are hoping to visit as soon as we can with our little one, and hoping it won't be too bad while he's small as it wouldn't really be much different to being at home with him, other than the travelling, and most likely family will be there to help.

1990shopefulftm · 24/05/2020 20:02

My blood pressure is pretty low today, hoping if I drink a lot I won't have the same problem continue.

Freddie1987 · 24/05/2020 21:37

Yes, hope you're ok @justtb and have some loved ones you can lean on at the moment. x

DressingGown87 · 24/05/2020 22:28

@justtb hope your ok? I’m sure you will have lots of people around you for support, with whatever decision you will take. My situation is probably slightly different as me and F where not really together, and ended things prior to me going to New York. I found out I wasn’t the only woman. When I returned from NY I discovered I was pregnant, contacted him, and he didn’t want any part of the babies life. But I have lots of friends and family supporting me, and I see it as I would rather be alone, than try and coparent with an “idiot” liar, and rude individual.

@roarfeckingroar that sound amazing!

@WaveStreet I’ve just cancelled my holidays to Dubai and Thailand for the end of the year. I would have loved one more holiday child/guilt free, but also coming to terms with that won’t happen. A trip to Australia next year sounds amazing!

@1990shopefulftm hope your feeling better, try have a good nights sleep and some rest.

1990shopefulftm · 24/05/2020 22:31

@DressingGown87 I m feeling a bit better, it's taking me a while to get comfortable to sleep recently so hoping that will get better this week.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 25/05/2020 00:02

@Flora20 & @60spony To each their own. Mine works for my family. Your's works for you too and others their's. Every child love things differently. Every family do things differently too. I was just giving ftms ideas that having a child shouldn't prevent them going on vacations or living their lives as they would. I was not in anyway imposing any "radical change" on anyone. Cheers!

60sPony · 25/05/2020 12:48

Absolutely @UpsyDaisy1234 it’s whatever works for each family and what each family likes

Hope everyone is enjoying the ☀️

Flora20 · 25/05/2020 13:51

@UpsyDaisy1234 Well yes, you have your advice and so did I. Thought that was obvious... not sure it required that response but whatever!

@60sPony It's so good to have the sun back, the wind was horrific round here!

How's everyone getting on with names, anyone else fine it really hard?!

DressingGown87 · 25/05/2020 14:22

@1990shopefulftm hopefully you’ll find a position which works for you, and make it more comfortable.

@flora20 I have a girls name, which Ive have had from the start. If the scan is wrong and it’s a boy, them I’m stuck! Think it’s easier when I don’t have to agree with anybody, but myself! Have you a unique or traditional name in mind?

The sun is lovely!!

1990shopefulftm · 25/05/2020 14:33

@Flora20 we have a name in mind for a boy or a girl including middle names. If it's a boy they ll have my dad's name for their middle name.
@DressingGown87 last night was better, I just had so much to drink I woke up needing to pee, not sure if it's a one off or if that's normal to start at 18 weeks.

Clalou83 · 25/05/2020 16:08

Hi all if anyone is struggling or needs alittle help with names there's this app I was shown. You basically thumbs down the ones you don't like and thumbs up the ones you do. Invite your partner or perhaps a friend they do the same the you see if you get any matches. We kinda have our names but was still interested to try. X Happy sunny day everyone SmileThanks

Clalou83 · 25/05/2020 16:09

Sorry here's the link. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=global.kinder

Sls668 · 25/05/2020 16:17

We have a boys name picked and lots of choices for middle name but absolutely zero girls names, I don’t like a single one and it’s really starting to stress me out! My 20 week scan is in a couple of weeks so at least we’ll know one way or another then!
On a different note, I managed to finally see my chiropractor again for the first time in my whole pregnancy (they were closed for most of lockdown) so, fingers crossed, I might get a better nights sleep for the first time in weeks!

BS9790 · 25/05/2020 16:24

Does anyone know if there's a "cut off" time for the anomaly scan? For them to see what they need to?
Mines at 22 weeks, I'm assuming this is fine?
I would prefer it earlier 😂😂

Have people bought much? We've ordered some wallpaper samples, shnuggle bath and a few clothes from mamas and papas sale since we found out we were team boy. Now I'm really nervous I've jumped the gun a bit 🙈

1990shopefulftm · 25/05/2020 16:49

@BS9790 the NHS website says its normally by 21 weeks but don't know if there's a specific cut off.

I've bought a Moses basket, some sleeping bags, a few gender neutral clothes off eBay and I've preordered a bedside crib. DH is sorting our box room this week so he has an office space set up and then the nursery after that, at which point I have a lot of links of the other things I'll order.
I've done my best guesses at how much things cost but want to get bits earlier rather than so I know if we need to save more or if we'll have some money left for extra bits that I originally wrote off.
I don't think you've jumped the gun at all :)

Clalou83 · 25/05/2020 16:50

@Sls668 I was the same for a boys name I looked at a list of 1000 names and still didn't like any. Well there was a few that I thought yeah they are fine but it has to have that feel to it doesn't it.

Fingers crossed you get some comfortable rest tonight. X

Clalou83 · 25/05/2020 16:58

@BS9790 I'm eager to start buying I think once we have had the twenty week scan in 3 week time I'll order things on line that I don't mind doing and then just wait to get the big things like Oran, car seat, coat when we can go shopping. Also got quite a few things been given.

Also waiting to see what they say about shielding as the 12 weeks is almost up. I've been out for walks but nothing else, my partner does all the shopping and errands. I think whatever they say I will still be very careful and just do what I feel I best.

Lolllyf · 25/05/2020 17:00

@BS9790 I have bought some clothes when I found out it was a boy. Doesn’t sound like you have bought too much! I am a bit worried about buying anything big too early. Will feel better after the 20 week scan or after about 24 weeks but that’s a personal choice.

Sls668 · 25/05/2020 17:11

@Clalou83 yes I’ve had some that I’ve thought ‘well, that’s ok.....’ but I don’t want to give my baby a name that I’ve just kind of settled on! I feel bad but it’s scaring me off having a girl which I realise is totally ridiculous!

DressingGown87 · 25/05/2020 17:28

@1990shopefulftm glad your feeling better, I can’t walk far without needing to pee! Hard when everywhere is closed!

@sls668 hope you get a better sleep now. The lack of boys names scared me off a boy, but it’s a girl!

@BS9790 I don’t think there is. However mine is on a Monday, my clinic day is a Thursday so my midwife wanted to change it. But told to leave it at 19+6. It might be worth calling and seeing if you can get an earlier date / cancellation?

I don’t think you’ve jumped the gun, everyone buys things at the personal rate, as and when they feel right, see things, or depending on their finances. I’ve done lots and lots of research, and have an in store appointment on the 10th, when I’ve had that I will be ordering the crib, pram, car seat. Once I doubled checked the gender at my scan, I will order clothes. You sound really organised which is good!

Sls668 · 25/05/2020 19:05

@BS9790 I’m desperate to start buying things and have bought a couple of packs of muslins and a couple of unisex things (a bunny rabbit outfit, of course, the important things 😂). I also bought a breast pump because it was in the sale and the reviews on it seemed pretty good. I’m waiting to find out the gender before I buy much more and really want to look at the big stuff but I want to be able to see it in person before committing to anything

justtb · 25/05/2020 19:48

@DressingGown87 (some) men are absolute shit heads aren't they?
He stormed out on my yesterday pretty much because I looking at him while he was on his PC. He said we would spend our day off together but was gone for over 8 hours. Found out today he was having a lovely old time with his friend (there was probably several of them tbf). He's 23 and immature as it is.. always known deep down he wasn't ready for a child.

I haven't bought anything yet. Partly because I'm salty most newborn stuff is sold out and partly because I'm waiting for 20 week scan.
