@roarfeckingroar glad all okay with your scan 💙 wow his spine! It's crazy isn't it! Does your DP still not know what you're having by the way?

1990shopefulftm · 23/05/2020 11:31

@roarfeckingroar that's a lovely scan picture :)
I don't think I'll resist not having a scan sometime after 20 weeks, 4 months seems a long time not to see them.

roarfeckingroar · 23/05/2020 14:39

@WaveStreet he still doesn't know! And I'm absolutely fine with that now.

The spine is crazy isn't it. Apparently everything is good though.

DressingGown87 · 23/05/2020 16:05

@1990shopefulftm aww that will be good to get sorted! I know it will be worth it in the end, I just work and always seem to be on / living in building sites 😂 Plus I’m a nightmare client, just like doctors being the worst patients I suppose.

@Sls668 Atleast you have something to look forward too, and lots of people to help out. I’m looking at a holiday in June time, probably not that long distance though.

@roarfeckingroar glad everything went well! What a lonely scan picture, so detailed! And well done for not letting it slip!

1990shopefulftm · 23/05/2020 16:09

@DressingGown87 maybe be upfront about your expertise so they know to be straight with you when they're doing any works at your house.

WaveStreet · 23/05/2020 17:10

@roarfeckingroar that's some serious willpower from both of you but glad you found a middle ground. I feel so much more attached to my little boy now i know what he is.

@DressingGown87 it'll be nice to get the house adjusted to what suits you and your baby, and something to look forward to when it's all finished! We really could do with getting our bathroom sorted too.

Clalou83 · 23/05/2020 18:12

@roarfeckingroar Gorgeous scan picture congratulations x x

Clalou83 · 23/05/2020 18:13

@1990shopefulftm Yeah we are very lucky to be able to have scans privately if we choose, we are hoping our clinic start the 4D ones back up in July onwards as we'll be doing that.

1990shopefulftm · 23/05/2020 18:21

@Clalou83 i've no idea when the clinics nearby will do 4d scans again if at all before October.

HelenMarie1001 · 23/05/2020 18:43

We had a private scan today and another boy to add to the group!!

DressingGown87 · 23/05/2020 18:49

@helenMarie1001 congratulations on your little boy 💙 will find and update the list at some point!

@1990shopefulftm I think one near us is June, as my friend enquired.

@WaveStreet it’s just a long list of jobs! Bathroom was always on the list, but had to change all my plans, as I didn’t want a bath! Once all this is done, it’s finished. Just wish I hadn’t done glazed doors last year.

@1990shopefulftm it’s someone I know, so I think they know what they have let themselves in for (I hope) 🙈

I’m still so tired. They’ve increased the dose on one of my meds, and I’m wondering if this is having an impact, as one of the side effects is tiredness.

1990shopefulftm · 23/05/2020 18:58

@DressingGown87 hopefully it's much less stressful using someone you know :)

Clalou83 · 23/05/2020 19:54

@1990shopefulftm Think they'll all be different but ours are hoping July.

SamK93 · 23/05/2020 20:15

Congratulations @HelenMarie1001 💙

UpsyDaisy1234 · 23/05/2020 20:17

@roarfeckingroar Awww! Gorgeous scan. You can book for a private scan further into your pregnancy or request for a scan if you get worried for any reason. If you go in for assessment at any point onwards, you'd be scanned without a doubt anyway.

Because i'm always high risk, including with my previous ones, i get scanned every 3 weeks from 24weeks until birth, & it will be same for this pregnancy. Not for the best reasons but i love the fact that i get to see my babies often.

@HelenMarie1001 Congratulations on your little boy!

@Sls668 You will be alright. We went to Disneyland florida with a 6months baby & a 5year old toddler, just me & my DH, we managed really well and we really had fun.

justtb · 23/05/2020 21:02

@roarfeckingroar congrats on your little boy! Baby got bones!!! 👶🏻👶🏻

My dog is okay, just has a lump that needs to be removed and tested. Hopefully it's nothing serious - was just a shock! Better now than when I'm 8 months pregnant I suppose.

Freddie1987 · 23/05/2020 23:36

@roarfeckingroar awww amazing scan, so much detail! 😍

@HelenMarie1001congrats on the boy news too! ☺️

@UpsyDaisy1234 it's good to hear positive stories of travelling/holidays with tiny ones, I bet we'll all bloody deserve a trip by the time that restrictions are lifted! Even if it's a camping holiday haha. I'd hate to give up on travelling and seeing the world out of fear of not being able to cope. As long as you're realistic about the type of places you can go then why should it stop us eh!

UpsyDaisy1234 · 24/05/2020 08:03

@Freddie1987 That was four years ago though, so they are 9yrs & 4yrs now.

You are absolutely right about the types of places to go. With kids, your holiday plan totally becomes child themed. You can't just go to everywhere with them though, there are specific fun-filled packed destinations perfect for kids. You will bore them out if you take them to Malta lol. But i must agree that holidays with kids are very precious & creates beautiful memories. The only thing they need is non-stop fun. And the tip for a happy one is to make sure you pre-book organised activities, pool, beach etc. Resorts are very family friendly too. There are quite a few in spain we've been to over the years. We stayed in one in Marjoca last year, it was so amazing my daughter didn't want to go home. She asked if we could live there. Haha!

Having a baby/babies simply means having your entire priorities, goals, plans, and every thought centered on them. Your entire life precisely. But like you said, it shouldn't put a stop to living our lives!

We go for family holiday only once a year though. But once in every 3 months, Dh & I makes sure we have weekends getaways, just the 2 of us, with the kids at his parent's. We always look forward to each one...Candle light dinners, pampering spa, amazing sex, night outs e.t.c. These short breaks have really helped keep our intimacy, romance & love for each other top-notch.

Sls668 · 24/05/2020 08:32

@UpsyDaisy1234 ahh that’s good to hear, if you managed it with a 5 year old too, it must either be manageable or you’re super parents 😂 we always go away with my sister and her boys and I remember under 1 always being the easiest as they mainly just sleep with the hot weather.

UpsyDaisy1234 · 24/05/2020 11:00

@Sls668 I can imagine a holiday with a 1year old. It must be really challenging. Likewise a 2 or 3yrs old. My son has always been an easy-going boy and on that florida holiday we made sure he was engaged in one activity or play all day, every day during our one week stay, so by evening he's completely exhausted. My daughter at 6months, once fed & clean nappy, was a happy girl and she sat in the pushchair all through.

Freddie1987 · 24/05/2020 13:15

@UpsyDaisy1234 @Sls668 you're right, think the younger the better so they're not needing constant entertainment in the same sense as when they can run about and cause havoc! 😆

Flora20 · 24/05/2020 13:57

Honestly in terms of holidays we've not done anything particularly differently - I guess it depends what you used to do! Certainly never going to do the whole kids resort/organised fun/activity clubs thing - obviously if that's your thing then go for it, but you don't have to change radically if you don't want to! First family holiday here was a week in Northumberland when she was 6 months old, next was going to be Rome at Christmas but then I got pregnant so that's out... We've never been into resort holidays though.

60sPony · 24/05/2020 14:10

@flora20 we are the same here.. still have enjoyed our normal type holidays since our son was born. Villa/ chateau with a pool is heaven for a baby/ toddler and us! We’ve also done skiing and festivals so we have tried to make sure we still do all the things we enjoyed doing before. Always fun to go away with friends who have kids of a similar age too as they get older they keep each other entertained.

DressingGown87 · 24/05/2020 14:38

We use to take the step children abroad few times a year. Starting from when the twins where 2, the eldest was 3. The best thing we found was staying in lodge/villa accommodation! No worries that Spider-Man (2yr old) was going to leap off a balcony! We also got them all swimming lessons, so by the time we went on a “hot holiday” they could all swim, which helped loads in the public pools. We got them use to walking far too, as we couldn’t take a buggy’s for all of them, so it was the odd piggy back / tantrum. We went to Iceland, Amsterdam and a few city breaks without them, as didn’t think it was suitable and needed some us time.

Is anyone here single?
