@WaveStreet @roarfeckingroar I've started pregnancy yoga in line and with the same lady I plan to do hypno birthing with my partner which probably will be on line but usually she comes to your home.
I heard the local council offer a few NCT sessions?

60sPony · 14/05/2020 21:56

@Clalou83 Yes and even if you know your husband is Rh-, so baby will be too, they insist you get the injection as they can’t trust that the spouse is always the father 😮

1990shopefulftm · 14/05/2020 22:36

@Chl00 give the hospital a call :)

Mc3209 · 14/05/2020 22:53

@roarfeckingroar it comes with daytime gel, a bump band with rubbery thingies that sit against the skin and equalise the stretching forces across the bump, and a night time cream. Supposedly it helps to spread the force over the larger area in attempt to protect deeper skin layers and prevent stretch marks from forming. Reviews online are mixed, but I am giving it a go. Apparently it's the only anti-stretch mark treatment that has a study behind it (which I haven't read). If I do end up going stripey, at least I've tried everything! It's quite comfortable to wear, and the creams smell nice.

@Mc3209 that sounds interesting! I am going to have a look. I have been using bio oil for now.

Lolllyf · 15/05/2020 07:10

@Clalou83 they usually test baby blood group after birth. They may offer you Anti-d injections to prevent sensitisation.

A good place to read is the RCOG Website. They have all the guidelines on there that most places would follow more or less.

DogCatDex · 15/05/2020 08:27

For NCT classes are there NHS ones or do you just go through nct.org.uk? There seems to be quite a few near me on that website

UpsyDaisy1234 · 15/05/2020 09:39

@Mc3209 Wish i heard about it while pregnant with my first. I slathered myself in Bio oil religously throughout, and still ended up with stripes on my tummy, but none on my thighs or breasts.

sunbreak · 15/05/2020 14:06

@UpsyDaisy1234 @Mc3209 most of what I've read says that having stretch marks is pre-determined and genetic, so the best to look at it is if your mum didn't have stretch marks chances are that you won't have them either. The oils and creams are useful to the top layer of skin and can stop itching and help with the stretching of the top layer but stretch marks are cases by the stretching of the deeper skin layer. I don't think that there are any studies done to prove otherwise. (Either way I'm still using bio oil every night after shower 😊)
I don't know about that device around the belly you were talking about though.

1990shopefulftm · 15/05/2020 14:17

I m allergic to lavender so can't use bio oil, just got some cocoa butter to try out, genetics make it likely I ll get them anyway but I ve been getting dry skin so if that's all it help then I don't mind :)

Freddie1987 · 15/05/2020 14:17

@sunbreak you're totally right. I actually used to have Bio-Oil as a client and learnt a lot about them. I use it religiously as it's still a great product but it's basically better at reducing the appearance of stretch marks, not preventing them in the first place. That's why a lot of people use them on healed scars for instance. I think keeping your skin hydrated as much as possible through water intake and moisturisers will help reduce the severity should you get them but unfortunately a lot of the time it's down to genetics or how quickly you gain baby weight in prone areas.

Freddie1987 · 15/05/2020 14:19

Also the Palmers cocoa butter for stretch marks smells lush and seems to absorb quicker than their normal range! ☺️

KitKatKit · 15/05/2020 14:55

I've been using sweet almond oil, it's a decent alternative to the creams if you're lazy like me! Grin

Flora20 · 15/05/2020 15:33

Someone bought me the Palmer's cocoa butter one last time round and I've got some left - it smells great but I could never be bothered to get into a routine with putting it on my bump so used it on my hands etc instead. Didn't get any stretch marks despite doing nothing to prevent them... It is genetic I'm afraid!

I've just been sorting through all the baby clothes from the attic, there's a ridiculous amount and I'm sure I don't recognise some of them! Anyway all newborn, 0-3 and 3-6 are down in the corner of the spare room ready for the wardrobe. Feeling unusually organised!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 15/05/2020 15:41

My stripes from my pregnancy with my little boy are reappearing. I'm hoping this means I won't get more as I'm already stretched Grin. Should probably start moisturizing them though!

Clalou83 · 15/05/2020 15:58

I've started moisturising but just using general creams. I think just the notion of the hands can help to tone up the skin no matter what cream it is.

My partner has used bio oil in the past on his scares but as soon as he stopped they would reappear.

I think it is just what it is isn't it.

Clalou83 · 15/05/2020 15:58

Motion not notion

DogCatDex · 15/05/2020 16:49

Just had my 16 scan... I’m having a girl!

11Eleven11 · 15/05/2020 16:53

@Clalou83 I had the blood test for Rh- at my booking appointment with the midwife, then they gave me the results at the 12 week scan, they said I will have to have the antibodies injection at around 28 weeks.

SamK93 · 15/05/2020 16:54

@DogCatDex congratulations!! Another little girl x

KitKatKit · 15/05/2020 16:59

@DogCatDex Wahay congrats!!

Freddie1987 · 15/05/2020 17:01

@DogCatDex woohoo another girl!! Congrats! X

UpsyDaisy1234 · 15/05/2020 17:24

Yaay! Another baby girl! Congrats @DogCatDex

DressingGown87 · 15/05/2020 18:11

@roarfeckingroar that’s great news that they moved your scan forward.

@WaveStreet I looked at booking a 3 day NCT class, it’s £200 though! That was through NCT. Don’t know if this is right?

@Mc3209 That sounds interesting. Really need to get some bio-oil, but got the coco butter stuff for now as I already use it for toning.

@DogCatDex congratulations on your little girl 💕
Think that’s 5 up to now!

I’ve gone off the bugaboo, after my virtual appointment. The fact you have to take the seat off to fold, and the seat moves as one has put me off. Anyone looked at the Ocarro? Think I’m set of the maxi cosi next to me.

DogCatDex · 15/05/2020 18:36

Yeh I don’t really get the hype of the bugaboo either. I’m thinking I’ll goo either Uppababy or Maxi Cosi. My friend has an Uppababy and she swears by it. She’s also got a Babyzen YoYo for holidays which sounds like a good idea
