I got told not to worry about booking the vaccine in until after the 20 week scan.

Clalou83 · 14/05/2020 17:15

I was told 18 week for my midwife appointment at the booking scan and everyone here has had 16 week apt. I'm 16 week today I'm tempted to phone tomorrow. I'm sure at my 9 week apt she said 18 weeks though.

EmmaA96 · 14/05/2020 17:25

@DogCatDex I read online it was after 16, only ever been told after 20 though!

SJR86 · 14/05/2020 17:29

My midwife told me to book my vaccine in for after the 20 week scan. All my antenatal checks are being done face to face, I'm not high risk.

We've decided we're not going to find out the gender either. I can't wait for the shops to open so we can go and try out buggy's and things!

KitKatKit · 14/05/2020 17:53

@EmmaA96 Ahh congrats on the girls! How exciting!

I'm the same as the rest of you, doing pram and car seat research and itching to get into the shops to buy!

How's everyone's energy? Im 17+3 and have had a brief surge today but now I'm in bed with an achey body! It's like a rollercoaster these days...

SamK93 · 14/05/2020 17:58

@Clalou83 my appointment is also at 18 weeks and not 16

Clalou83 · 14/05/2020 18:06

@SamK93 Oh that's good to know. I guess it doesn't really matter especially as it's a phone call, not been given a date for it though.

Does anyone know when you have a blood test for baby to check their blood group if you are R negative?

1990shopefulftm · 14/05/2020 18:08

My local maternity group just announced the head of sonography at the hospital is now allowing guests to 20 week scans, I d come to terms with going alone so this is wonderful :)

DressingGown87 · 14/05/2020 18:25

@1990shopefulftm I spoke to my midwife before, she said they had made changes to make my appointments / clinic quicker. Never mentioned scans, but that’s good if they have.

@KitKatKit have you looked at the online appointments they are offering. Today is the first day I’ve not napped this week!

1990shopefulftm · 14/05/2020 18:30

@DressingGown87 I hope it's the case, I was a ball of nerves before the 12 week one and I know I wouldn't be like that again if DH is there.
Glad they re getting quicker with your appointments for you, no idea when my next one is after the scan, think I ll go nicely ask the antenatal clinic after the scan as I don't think my GP will have the midwife clinic there.

DressingGown87 · 14/05/2020 18:39

@1990shopefulftm Atleast you get to experience it together, and find out the gender. I probably still won’t be able to take a friend, or family, as I live alone. I don’t know how they’ve changed this, but hopefully it works, be worth asking them

1990shopefulftm · 14/05/2020 18:55

@DressingGown87 perhaps they'd allow someone whose been isolating themselves to go with you to the scan if you wanted to do that ?

@Clalou83 not 100% sure but I think they check if your own blood is positive or negative and if you have anti bodies when they do the first blood test for HIV and such. Then if they didn't find antibodies they check again later on.

I think they can check babies blood types quite early on as there's enough of their DNA to check gender as well before 12 weeks.

Clalou83 · 14/05/2020 19:42

@1990shopefulftm What area is that? Perhaps it's down to the area in relation to how high the risk is. I'm North West so think the risk is high here?

1990shopefulftm · 14/05/2020 19:46

@Clalou83 i m in the north west at well, I remembered I'd read they check for it on the NHS website about rhesus disease.

Chl00 · 14/05/2020 19:57

Hey girls, I’m new and due end of October, anyone been allowed a scan with their OH? Got my gender scan soon and I feel so bad not having him there with me

Mc3209 · 14/05/2020 20:35

I just got Secret Saviours stretch mark prevention pack. Ordered it yesterday as a bit of impulse buy and it already arrived today! If anything it smells awesome and the band is quite comfy. Whether it works or not, time will tell (genetics or not, I am willing to do anything to try...)

@EmmaA96 congrats on your two girls ❤️❤️

I had a call for my 16 week appt yesterday, wasn't expecting one. It was very brief so probably not hugely worthwhile. The midwife said I'll see a midwife when i go for 20 week scan then another phone call at 24 weeks, and face to face after that. She was hopeful by then things may be going back to normal but obviously no one really knows.

She asked me if I knew I'm rhesus negative (i did, but i think they check your type in your first blood test) and said I'll get an appointment through for the injection which will be around 30 weeks.

@chl00 welcome! In my area clinics are allowing partners to private gender scans.

1990shopefulftm · 14/05/2020 21:09

@Chl00 my hospital just decided today that partners can be allowed at the 20 week scan's only again, some private clinics in my area allow them and some don't.

Chl00 · 14/05/2020 21:16

@WaveStreet thanks!

@1990shopefulftm ok hopefully mine will then, do you know how I can find out?

roarfeckingroar · 14/05/2020 21:26

I rang my obs dept today and asked if it would be possible to bring my scan forward and they have! So it's a week on Saturday not on the 29th. I'm desperate for reassurance baby is ok.

roarfeckingroar · 14/05/2020 21:27

@Mc3209 how does the anti stretch mark pack work it sounds interesting

WaveStreet · 14/05/2020 21:41

@roarfeckingroar that's good news about your scan date.

Has anyone thought about NCT classes yet?

60sPony · 14/05/2020 21:45

@Clalou83 with my trust if you are RH- they tell you at your 16 week appointment from your bloods taken at booking then you have your anti D injection at your 28 week appointment. If you have any accidents they will also give you another anti D injection.

roarfeckingroar · 14/05/2020 21:48

@WaveStreet I did a NCT online taster last week. It was ok, not great. I'm keen to do something where I'll meet people - if we are ever set free.

Clalou83 · 14/05/2020 21:50

@60sPony Aww thank you. I know I'm R- but yeah get what ya saying as they have to test you anyway don't they. X
