@clalou83 I think I will do the same.. I was initially thinking in the next week but I'm probably best to wait until after 20 week scan.

I don't get why some do and some don't let partners attend. I was an absolute mess at last hospital scan because DP wasn't there..

Clalou83 · 10/05/2020 21:34

@justtb Me too. My partner cane with me too as they letter said he could. I thought it was because I was going to a smaller centre but when we got there they said he has to leave. They said they just weren't changing n the letter. So I sat in the waiting room crying my eyes out. Then I'm quite quiet and shy so cos I was upset I probably didn't speak and ask questions as much as I would have done if my partner was there.
The letter for my 20 week scan is the same, it wouldn't hurt to take a paragraph out really.
Least I maybe more prepared this time.

justtb · 10/05/2020 22:39

@clalou83 my letter was the same. DP tried to ring beforehand to make sure he could come but they didn't answer. I thought they were really blunt when we went into the waiting room.. just said 'only one patient allowed in' and that was it. I am usually very quiet too, and sonographer wasn't allowed to say much at all apart from that everything was fine. Haven't had 20 week scan letter yet but I'm guessing it'll be just the same as last time. Obviously it's all being done for a reason but it's still really sad for us lot

roarfeckingroar · 10/05/2020 22:39

I really don't mind scans on my own. It's quite lovely, a chance to have a chat with the sonographer without someone else there.

Clalou83 · 10/05/2020 22:57

@justtb Oh yeah of corse I totally get why their doing it.
Sure you'll get it soon. I got mine last week. I'll be 16 weeks Thursday so 4 weeks from then is my scan. I feel like after this scan it won't seem like there's as much waiting around. Not that I want to rush this experience. I just mean things will be busier ie more appointments, buying things getting things sorted and together Smile Will all feel alittle more real x x

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 11/05/2020 10:24

I'll be 22 weeks at my 20 week scan, wish I could bring it forward a week or so! I'm so impatient

1990shopefulftm · 11/05/2020 10:47

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt that's disappointing, perhaps you could ask for a cancellation?

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 11/05/2020 12:37

@1990shopefulftm do you think I could? Don't want to be cheeky by asking!

1990shopefulftm · 11/05/2020 12:41

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt you could just say you ve seen on the NHS website that its normally between 18-21 weeks and ask if there's any possibility of it being sooner.

Flora20 · 11/05/2020 13:09

@DressingGown87 Ooh congratulations!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 11/05/2020 13:39

Small victory, brought it forward 4 days to the Friday morning Smile

sunbreak · 11/05/2020 13:54

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt well done 😊 that's 4 days you won't have to wait so it's still a win 😊
My 20w scan is in mid June but I can really wait and my husband hasn't been able to see the baby yet (it's our first) so we've booked a private one for next week. It's only 1 week but I can barely wait. I'll be right at the end of 16 weeks as well so we might be able to find out the gender too which will be lovely.

Also, when I received my 20w scan letter they had put a little label on the first page to say that I'll ha e to attend it on my own so it might be unpleasant but at least I know early on. Also won't be that bad as DH would've had the experience already and he'll be waiting in the car 😊

1990shopefulftm · 11/05/2020 13:58

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt glad they moved it earlier for you :)

WaveStreet · 11/05/2020 20:00

Been researching car seats today... 🤯 Harder than i thought!

DressingGown87 · 11/05/2020 20:41

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt Glad you’ve managed to creep it forward a few days!!

@sunbreak aww, my little monkey kept putting her feet up! But they managed to trick her 😂

@wavestreet I’m researching “next to me” style cribs, I’m baffled. I want to know the mattress base height, but none seem to tell me! Also want one that’s quite big, so it’s last a couple of months. Hope you’ve been more successful with car seats!

I’m so exhausted! Last two days all I want to do is sleep, no energy to cook, and I’m freezing. Hoping this is pregnancy and not anything sinister!

roarfeckingroar · 11/05/2020 21:29

@WaveStreet @DressingGown87 we bought a tutti bambini cozee next to me bedside crib and a maxi cosi pebble car seat.
I love them both 😍

roarfeckingroar · 11/05/2020 21:30

Has anyone else lost their appetite? I'm eating because otherwise my stomach hurts and I feel nauseous but I've no interest in food. I would kill for a really nice cold glass of white wine on the other hand.

Mc3209 · 11/05/2020 21:44

@roarfeckingroar I swing between shovelling anything that's not nailed down to the surface into my mouth to not really having much appetite. It's a bit hit and miss at the moment, and I've given up to even try and make sense of it.

DressingGown87 · 11/05/2020 21:46

@roarfeckingroar that’s the one I prefer, I can see that it has 5 height settings, but can’t seem to find what these are? Love how big the storage is underneath.

I’ve gone off food, struggling to even want anything. But I’ve got no energy either, so don’t know if it’s that.

parks11 · 11/05/2020 21:50

@DressingGown87 hey I think you had the same due date as me, Oct 20th- sorry I haven't been on here for a few weeks.
Well today, I also found out that we are having a little girl! 😍 So that's two baby girls, due the same day!
Cautious as always but I must admit I am a little excited today! ☺️

WaveStreet · 11/05/2020 21:52

@DressingGown87 no further forward really! Its just research as I want one compatibile with a travel system, although i have a shortlist of prams i want to look at, I wont be buying any of these until i can get to a shop to have a look. Also I've got a big-ish car but it seems not many seats suit my back seats so I'm struggling to tick all my boxes! Have you seen any cribs you like?

@roarfeckingroar your crib looks really lovely!

roarfeckingroar · 11/05/2020 22:30

@DressingGown87 it feels like it's well made and it looks lovely. It's bigger than I expected from pictures online, but not too big. I would recommend so far and the anti-reflux tilt is really easy to do.

Thanks @WaveStreet ! I just can't wait for it to have a baby in.

@Mc3209 it's a pain isn't it. I came to bed without having dinner and now my stomach aches. Ah well.

I'm feeling a bit anxious because I haven't felt any movements and I'm 18+1 today. I've read that if you have strong stomach muscles you often don't feel them as early and I still do from gymnastics, but I really want to so I know baby is ok in there. My 20 week isn't until 29 May which feels like a lifetime away.

DressingGown87 · 12/05/2020 07:36

@parks11 aww congratulations on your little girl! Yes we do share a due date too! How you feeling?

@WaveStreet that’s my plan, make a short list and come July I should be able to go and look. I’ve got an iso base (and every car seat going apart from new born) from my exs DC. Just need to find a seat that fit / works on everything. It’s a minefield isn’t it!

@roarfeckingroar that’s why I like it for the reflux setting, did you find the adjustable height online? That’s good to hear! Have the put in your notes the position of the placenta? If this is at the front you tend to not feel movements as strong / soon? Try not to worry at this sage. I’m 17 and just feel flutters, but it might be wind!

1990shopefulftm · 12/05/2020 08:21

@parks11 congratulations on your little girl :)

I thought I was getting flutters last night but really not sure as I m only 16 weeks.

DressingGown87 · 12/05/2020 09:41

@1990shopefulftm it’s really confusing isn’t it? I felt something when my midwife was doing to the doppler, it felt like flutters, she said it’s the baby. She did say they aren’t awake much at this stage.
