Replying to everyone in a new thread as the old one is full! Also tagging @Lemonysherbet @ELW85 @MrsH497 @LokiCat @larrydavid - so sorry if I’m forgetting anyone!

@MrsR16 It’s so weird, I was thinking back to getting my BFP for the twins the other day - some days it feels like yesterday but others it feels like a lifetime ago! I bet now Ethans here the pregnancy also feels like a distant memory!!

@TrashKitten10 Ah thanks lovely - wow a 9 pounder!! Well done you! I will definitely let everyone know as soon as I can once the twins are here :)

@PippaPug Thanks lovely! How are you feeling at the moment? Funnily enough they don’t do the steroid injections at my hospital if you’re going to deliver post 37 weeks so I’ve managed to swerve that one - how have you found them? Hurray for big babies - looks like we’re both going to have some chunky twins on our hands!! Do you find you are constantly congratulated at hospital for keeping them in so long/growing them so big?! I get it every time!

@Fivebyfive2 Joe is adorable! How was your first night away?

@thumper59 12 weeks! He is so so cute and I LOVE the matching jackets haha!

@purplefig Ugh the first lie in didn’t go to plan, I woke at 3 and couldn’t drift off again until 6... so glad it isn’t just us wobbling on names at the midnight hour! Yep ours will be Irish names - narrowing it right down and making it even harder for ourselves!! Hope you enjoyed your last yoga class!

Had a scare this morning; after a shocking night trying to sleep I woke quite late (well, around 9) - twin 2 dancing the jig as always but couldn’t feel twin 1 at all. I tried absolutely everything, I must have had a full litre of orange juice, chocolate, prodding at his side of my belly and I just got nothing. I called DH at 11 and just broke down, and we were soon off to triage. I literally cried all the way there! We had a CTG and as much as she struggled to find twin 1, he’s there and heart is pounding away. She told me he’s very low now, and position wise twin 2 is actually almost sitting on top of him so masking some of the stronger movements. The little swines! I’m so relieved, but it was horrible - I was terrified. Tracking twin movements is such a minefield!!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :)

@FlapJackered, hope your scan goes well today, I'll be thinking of you. So glad your dh can go too! Xx

@MrsEG, ha ha tin foil and a wooden spoon made me really laugh 😀

So... Day 4 of total quarantine yesterday and Joe was being a judge 😂

Morning all!

Thank you so much for the well wishes!
Latent phase of labour = contractions can randomly stop and this pain can go on for any amount of days. So sadly still at home after going to hospital for a check on baby and some pain relief. Passed out and contractions have slowed right down! This is so upsetting.

LokiCat · 27/03/2020 08:19

@ELW85 I'm sorry they stopped, I can imagine that must be quite frustrating. Hopefully you're almost there! Are you still being induced today? Thinking of you lovely 💕

@FlapJackered good luck for your scan today! That's great trust they've said you can now have DH there with you 😊

@Fivebyfive2 oh how cute!! 🥰

So our hospital has now changed it's policy that birth partner has to leave a little while after baby is here as well 😞 I really hope it changes back in the next few weeks when I'm most likely due.. I feel so clueless and I'm now panicking how I'll manage the first few hours/days alone with her.

MrsEG · 27/03/2020 08:37

@ELW85 very best of luck; I was in a slow labour and it is incredibly frustrating. I actually wish I’d been at home - they admitted me as I was so high risk with breech twins and it was hell - I was on essentially the ‘holding’ ward for two day’s with women just coming and going being induced and not long after being wheeled off. You can imagine how little sleep you get when women are contracting all around you! So perhaps that’s a small silver lining - I’d have much rather have gone through that stage at home; DH was only allowed in during visiting hours too which was shit. Anyway on that cheerful note!! Best of luck - it won’t last forever hun it really won’t; you’ll be meeting your baby very soon now!!

@FlapJackered Very best of luck today; thinking of you!

@Fivebyfive2 He’s so gorgeous!! I’ve been entertaining myself with baby fashion shows of all the clothes they’ll have grown out of by the time we can see people again!

@LokiCat It’s unprecedented isn’t it - my local maternity unit has actually closed so staff can be redeployed. Hopefully things will calm down again after the peak of the virus. All I can say is that the real fun begins at home! It’s such a cliche but it’s true. Before long the birth is a distant memory.

Really levelled up with the twin parenting this morning during feeding time!!

Morning guys, hope everyone is coping in isolation! I developed a cough on Monday and a high temperature so we've not left the house for five days. Luckily it seems to have gone but we're staying in until Monday to be sure. Definitely an up and down week - I feel grateful for all the things we have but keep getting sad for things being so out of my control (work cancellations, pregnancy not being as I expected, wedding plans up in the air). It's exhausting isn't it! Going to try and stay positive and be grateful for the garden I have to work in today!

@ELW85 ahhh sorry it's slowed down but hang in there. The baby is coming! Now long now 💛

@MrsEG honestly that one handed feeding is seriously impressive! You're a superstar. Hope you're doing well!

@LokiCat I should imagine the policies might change a lot over the next few weeks. Hopefully for better - not worse. When are you due? I'll
Post nursery pics soon. It still looks like a junk room at the moment!

@Fivebyfive2 Joe is so cute!

@FlapJackered Good luck at your scan today! Glad you get to take your partner with you!

MrsH497 · 27/03/2020 10:01

@LokiCat same here. I know it's stupid but I was in tears last night so worried they will next say no birth partners at all. I totally get the reasons but it's a worrying enough time especially as a first time mum!
Got my placenta check scan today which I know is playing on my mind a bit.

@ELW85 sorry the contractions stopped! How annoying but least it's all heading in the right direction

@MrsEG 💙💙your boys are just adorable.

@FlapJackered good luck with your scan today be thinking of you

LokiCat · 27/03/2020 10:35

@MrsEG haha that is impressive! You're doing an amazing job clearly!
Oh wow, can't believe they've shut your local unit! It must be so busy at the other hospitals now. The peak is what I'm worried about, as I think they're anticipating it in 3-4 weeks which is when I'm due 🙈 you're right though, hopefully I'll only be in for a little while and then can focus on bringing her home!

@Larrydavid glad to hear your cough and fever have gone now. It is sad that all of this is getting in the way of what should be special memories. Sorry if you've said before, but when were you planning your wedding for? I hope things settle down soon.
I'm due 21st April - got my induction booked in for 25th April, as I can't go over too much because of the GD.
Haha the nursery was our junk room pretty much till last week. I forgot to put up the other photos so will do that now. We're still waiting for the dresser behind the rocking chair to go but I doubt anyone's going to buy on eBay with this current situation! Enjoy working in the sun :)

@MrsH497 I was upset about it last night as well, but DH rightly made me realise that we don't know how things will be in a few weeks and hopefully they could get better. I'm keeping up to date with their postings on the maternity unit Facebook page. They've said they have no plans to restrict birth partners completely, so hopefully it's the same for you!
Hope all goes well at the placenta scan 💕

So on a more positive note, it's my last working from home day before maternity leave starts. So happy I can finally put the laptop away and focus on just relaxing and getting bits around the house sorted. My brother got me a beginners crochet kit to make a little bunny; excited to get that started!

Looking at the nursery photos, I think I may have gone a bit overboard with the animals... 😂

Thanks for all the well wishes, the scan was great!! Baby was wriggling around like a mad thing! I am so relieved! They couldn't take the NT measurement though so I have to have the blood test at 16 weeks. Did any of you have to have this instead?

@ELW85 that is frustrating, I hope things start moving again for you soon! Not fun at all. X

@LokiCat hopefully things will change by the time you get there and partners will be allowed to stay, I know there is a lot of uproar about it so they may feel pressure for the mothers mental health to let partners stay.
Your nursery looks amazing! 🤩 never too many animals!!

@MrsH497 I hope your scan went well too!?

@Larrydavid sorry to hear you're not well. I hope it hasn't hit you too badly. It's definitely not an easy time to be pregnant.

@MrsEG 😂 one hand! You are rocking it! They are just THE most gorgeous babies.

MrsH497 · 27/03/2020 19:23

@FlapJackered @LokiCat thanks ladies placenta has moved but so has baby it was head down a week ago and has been doing gymnastics as now breech! Typical child!

@FlapJackered glad your scan went well lovely x

LokiCat · 27/03/2020 21:27

@FlapJackered ah so happy to hear your scan went well! It's so amazing seeing them wriggling away 🥰 no I had the combined test; NT measurement and blood test. Fingers crossed the bloods will go well as well!
Thank you so much, I am a bit obsessed with just sitting in the nursery 🙊😁

@MrsH497 glad all went well at the scan, hopefully baby will move again!!

Just seen this guidance from RCObsGyn re birth partners on Twitter - so hopefully this means all trusts will follow it for at least the labour!

Hi all

Sorry for the absence but after a 41 hour labour,
Finlay Alexander was born at 11.47am on Saturday 28th March!
DH was allowed in but couldn’t go to the post natal ward and was only allowed to stay with me for a Max of 4 hours afterwards (even in our own room).
Mine is a pretty traumatic birth story and so I won’t openly post it as I don’t want to put anyone off, but if anyone is interested, I’m happy to share it privately!

@ELW85 huge congratulations lovely! Welcome to the world little Finlay 🥰
Sorry to hear you had a traumatic birth story - I may ask to hear it after I've gone through it (just so I don't get worried 🙈). I hope you're both okay and home safely 💕💕

Larrydavid · 30/03/2020 21:43

@ELW85 huge congratulations! He's absolutely gorgeous 😍 sorry you had a traumatic birth. When you're ready to tell, I'd like to hear it privately. But enjoy all the newborn cuddles for now! So pleased for you! X

Jessikka · 31/03/2020 13:36

@ELW85 congratulations! So glad your partner got to experience it with you - especially if the experience was unpleasant.

What a little cutie ❤

purplefig · 31/03/2020 13:55

Sorry I've been MIA! I had a rough start - it's taken me ages to feel back to normal after my hospital stay for a nasty mastitis infection. And this whole pandemic thing has been pretty rough - I've coped by deleting all the apps on my phone. Finally feeling a bit more normal now so wanted to pop on and check up on you all! I hope you're all doing well despite the crazy times? Thinking of you all lots.

@ELW85 he is PERFECTION. Huge well done to you! I am sorry to hear you had a traumatic birth. FWIW I found writing up my birth story incredibly cathartic. And while I wouldn't describe mine as traumatic as I ended up having an amazing delivery, like you I had a very long latent labour that wasn't handled very well and left me feeling pretty helpless. Feel free to PM me if you like.

PippaPug · 01/04/2020 00:14

@LokiCat - How are you getting on? We are doing well, time is flying and the boys are 6 weeks now! Your nursery looks fab / ours is all penguin themed!

@MrsEG - my boys are 6 weeks now and yes shattered is the word! Very jealous of your 5.5 hour stretch of sleep we get about 4 hours and I’m desperately hoping it won’t be forever if we can get it too 5! Sleeping isn’t to bad touch wood and both boys are becoming more alert as each day comes! Where is the other thread, I can’t seem to find it 🙈 how is everything in your world?

@ELW85 - he is gorgeous and what a fantastic name if I do say so myself! 😂 I hope your all doing well and resting lots!

I hope all Mummies and babies are doing well!

MrsH497 · 01/04/2020 07:57

Oh @ELW85 he is gorgeous!! Glad you're doing ok.

Anyone else get lots more watery discharge at the 33 week mark? I'm paranoid it's amniotic fluid (friend said bump looked lower as well) but really don't know

Jessikka · 02/04/2020 16:05

Afternoon Ladies.

Just saying hello and hope you mommas are doing ok and getting some sleep!

37+5 today so just patiently waiting!

Looking at my lovely pram wondering when in the hell I will use it with the world the way it is, but grateful that we are healthy ❤

Stay safe!

cupcakesandglitter · 04/04/2020 14:41

Massive congratulations @ELW85 he's absolutely gorgeous, glad you're both safe and well xx

Hope you're all doing okay 💕💕

Lemonysherbet · 07/04/2020 13:33

Huge congratulations @ELW85 he's gorgeous. How are you getting on?

Sorry I've been mia, been struggling with my anxiety quite a bit, been furloughed at work and had a pretty crappy couple of weeks but feeling much stronger now (and the sun certainly helps!)

How is everyone doing?

Lemonysherbet · 07/04/2020 13:34

@FlapJackered forgot to say very happy for you on the scan front, hope you're managing to enjoy it a bit more now that scary milestone is done 🥰

FlapJackered · 08/04/2020 07:18

Thanks @Lemonysherbet 😍
It was such a relief and a surprise to see it wriggling away! I had a week of feeling great but then hit with nausea again and terrible headaches/migraines. I have been in bed for the last 2 days with it which is not fun!
Sorry to hear you have had a rough couple of weeks. It is such a horrible time to be pregnant, so much extra unneeded stress. I am glad you have managed to find a way through the anxiety though, you're right the sunshine definitely helps! ☀️

@ELW85 congratulations!! 🥰 he is such a beautiful baby! I hope you are recovering ok and enjoying the first week with your new family member xx

Did anyone else have migraines at around 14 weeks? If so any tips for coping with them and not becoming a sobbing mess on a daily basis? 🙈
