Replying to everyone in a new thread as the old one is full! Also tagging @Lemonysherbet @ELW85 @MrsH497 @LokiCat @larrydavid - so sorry if I’m forgetting anyone!

@MrsR16 It’s so weird, I was thinking back to getting my BFP for the twins the other day - some days it feels like yesterday but others it feels like a lifetime ago! I bet now Ethans here the pregnancy also feels like a distant memory!!

@TrashKitten10 Ah thanks lovely - wow a 9 pounder!! Well done you! I will definitely let everyone know as soon as I can once the twins are here :)

@PippaPug Thanks lovely! How are you feeling at the moment? Funnily enough they don’t do the steroid injections at my hospital if you’re going to deliver post 37 weeks so I’ve managed to swerve that one - how have you found them? Hurray for big babies - looks like we’re both going to have some chunky twins on our hands!! Do you find you are constantly congratulated at hospital for keeping them in so long/growing them so big?! I get it every time!

@Fivebyfive2 Joe is adorable! How was your first night away?

@thumper59 12 weeks! He is so so cute and I LOVE the matching jackets haha!

@purplefig Ugh the first lie in didn’t go to plan, I woke at 3 and couldn’t drift off again until 6... so glad it isn’t just us wobbling on names at the midnight hour! Yep ours will be Irish names - narrowing it right down and making it even harder for ourselves!! Hope you enjoyed your last yoga class!

Had a scare this morning; after a shocking night trying to sleep I woke quite late (well, around 9) - twin 2 dancing the jig as always but couldn’t feel twin 1 at all. I tried absolutely everything, I must have had a full litre of orange juice, chocolate, prodding at his side of my belly and I just got nothing. I called DH at 11 and just broke down, and we were soon off to triage. I literally cried all the way there! We had a CTG and as much as she struggled to find twin 1, he’s there and heart is pounding away. She told me he’s very low now, and position wise twin 2 is actually almost sitting on top of him so masking some of the stronger movements. The little swines! I’m so relieved, but it was horrible - I was terrified. Tracking twin movements is such a minefield!!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :)

Just popping on to see how everyone is doing and wanted to say a huge congratulations to @LikeTheFruit and @cupcakesandglitter!! Congratulations on the birth of your little ones!

How are you both doing?

@MrsEG - how’s twin life treating you?

Nice to see there are some new members joining this thread - how exciting!

Hope everyone is keeping well right now xx

MrsH497 · 24/03/2020 09:08

@FlapJackered keeping everything crossed for you!

How's everyone doing? I'm currently mixing wfh with online ordering the "last essentials" as I'd banked on going out!
Xx

LokiCat · 24/03/2020 10:08

@FlapJackered how have you found your pregnancy so far? Many symptoms?
Yeah, I'm definitely going stir crazy during this lockdown! Lots of online shopping 😂

@PippaPug lovely to hear from you! How are the twins and how have you been getting on?

@MrsH497 yeah I did an amazon and boots order over the weekend for last few bits for the hospital bag. Just waiting for one more thing then I'm going to start packing everything.

@ELW85 thinking of you lovely! Hope you're doing okay 💕

How's everyone feeling after the lockdown briefing last night? I was supposed to have my 36 week midwife appointment today, but they're cancelling all routine appointments and putting a new system in place, apparently. Still have my growth scan and diabetes appointment tomorrow, though.
I found out that my friend has been told she can't have any birth partners at all! I wouldn't be able to cope with that. Ours has been restricted to one and they're the only visitors allowed in the post natal ward after. Have you all been advised if anything?

Washed all of baby's clothes and extras yesterday. The house smelt so good 😂 going to start packing soon. Feels so surreal how close it's getting 🙊🥰

Hope you're all doing well xx

MrsH497 · 24/03/2020 10:35

@LokiCat I've done the wash of baby clothes as well! It's all so cute and tiny!
Think I'll aim for John Lewis/boots/amazon for my last bits and get packing.
Got my scan Friday to check placenta position. So far frimley have said 1 well and healthy birth partner but I'm so worried they will change it.

Can't wait for DH to have some days off just to reassure me a bit I was doing fine but I'm now worrying he won't be at the birth (he's fine and healthy!) we won't have stuff ready!

But it's a beautiful sunny day and I'm loving just hearing the birds sing.

Shameless bump pic at 32 weeks and the cute baby clothes ❤️

ELW85 · 24/03/2020 12:38

Morning all

@cupcakesandglitter - thanks for sharing your birth story - I hope you’re doing well?

@LokiCat - I think we’re still allowed birth partners according to the hospital website. Going to give them a call though, as I’m not doing this by myself!
How are you feeling?
I was awake at 4am feeling crampy and nothing since. It’s getting really frustrating now.

cupcakesandglitter · 24/03/2020 12:50

Thankyou @KittieKath it's definitely unusual but we absolutely love it and it really suits her! Awww you're having a boy! I don't know if you've said it before and I've just forgotten sorry 🤦🏻‍♀️ but how lovely is that 😀 do you have a name picked out for him? And Thankyou so much, this bit really is amazing 🥰 wishing all of you the very best of labours - when they say you forget everything the second you hold them they aren't lying!!

Thankyou @FlapJackered 🥰 wow 12 weeks already?! Best of luck to you, I'm sure everything will be great and you'll have a lovely easy pregnancy, you deserve it x

Thankyou @Jessikka x

Thanks @LokiCat honestly I know I'm lucky to have dilated so quickly BUT it also meant there was no build up to the intensity of it, and so I really struggled through the time period of wanting the gas and air and the epidural kicking in. It's crazy how much you know your body though, women really are incredible 💪🏽 awww glad you love the chair, it'll be so worth it when you're sat in there together 😭 have your tightenings eased off now? Try to relax however you can but if you start feeling like somethings up I'd definitely call MAC just to let them know. Fingers crossed baba stays cooking for a few more weeks 😁 x

Thanks @PippaPug we're doing really well, I've just joined the other thread 😁😁 x

Awww @MrsH497 lovely bump 🥰🥰

MrsH497 · 24/03/2020 13:00

Frimley just announced no partners to accompany to scans 🙁 I know it's to keep everyone safe but I'm getting more anxious they will ban birthing partners now

Jessikka · 24/03/2020 13:25

@lokicat I'm the same 🙋‍♀️ 36 week appointment tomorrow so they're apparently going to ring today and give me a time at the county hospital tomorrow, where I will have to wait in the carpark until they ring me and ask me to walk over! I havent left the house in over a week so might be nice to brush my hair again!

I havent really noticed not leaving the house as my nesting has kept me busy! Currently watching teeny tiny Lion King pjs flap on the line and I keep letting off some sort of high pitched squeal haha!

So cute I cant cope!

Hope you're all well and noone is struggling.

ELW85 · 24/03/2020 13:45

Absolutely devastated; DH isn’t allowed to stay with me after the birth and they’ve said it’s changing on a daily basis.
Just cried my eyes out. I know it’s soft but this is getting too much now.

MrsH497 · 24/03/2020 13:48

@ELW85 no I've done the same over DH not being able to come to the scan which has increased my worry about exactly that DH not being able to be at the birth/stay after the birth. What should be such an exciting time is slowly starting to not be. Sending you a hug x

ELW85 · 24/03/2020 13:59

@MrsH497 - thank you. I feel so stupid and I know we’ve all got to make our sacrifices for the situation at the moment but I’m terrified that I’m going to have to do this alone and DH shouldn’t be missing out either x

LokiCat · 24/03/2020 14:28

@ELW85 oh sweet, I'm so sorry! It's understandable to be upset about this. Hopefully all will go well during the birth, so you and baby won't have to stay for too long after and can be home with DH. You're strong and I'm sure you'll do amazing 💕

@MrsH497 what a gorgeous bump!
Midwife just called me up and said I can only come to scan alone as well (DH is working anyway, so wouldn't have been able to go). Hopefully your DH will be able to be at the birth xx

@cupcakesandglitter tightenings have eased off since yesterday evening thankfully, so can stop panicking that she wants to come out early! It gave me the push I need to get everything ready just incase though!
How have the first few days with Dina been? Hope you're doing okay xx

@Jessikka haha I've literally been in PJs/comfy loungewear since last Monday. I'll shower and just put PJs on again 😁
Oh that's interesting! I wonder what new system they'll put in place for us.
The clothes are so cute and tiny, I can't get over them 🥰

MrsH497 · 24/03/2020 14:33

@LokiCat @ELW85 we've got this ladies sending you both lots of hugs. Let's hope by the time we give birth this crazy time is dying down and we are a bit more back to normal!

@LokiCat thank you! Loving my bump!

MrsEG · 24/03/2020 14:33

@PippaPug Hi lovely! I’m okay - absolutely shattered but the boys are 7 weeks old now and have settled in to an evening routine which is fab; getting some good chunks of sleep finally, last night they slept from 10-3:30. Days are still absolutely all over the place and being housebound isn’t helping haha! How are you getting on?

@FlapJackered Enjoy the scan on friday! Gosh that’s gone fast already!

@cupcakesandglitter Congratulations! I love the name. Well done you. Enjoy these early days!

Sorry I can’t catch up with everything, I keep coming on to reply with a message and then a twin screams and I close my phone and lose everything!
I have to say being on mat leave with the isolation/lock down is crazy. Health visitor appts are now cancelled and being done only over the phone and I’m having a nightmare getting the boys 8-week jabs booked with the GP. All very uncertain. I understand the need for it and the severity of the situation completely (have a friend on the frontline NHS who is full of horror stories) but it’s incredibly isolating. Only silver lining is having DH around so much, for the help and also for him to see so much more of the boys. We still go for our walk every day and look forward to it so much!

@ELW85 Oh hun; although I have to say my DH was booted out after I had the boys at hospital anyway. I had my catheter taken out and was checked over and he was asked to leave an hour later. I wish I’d booked a private room in hindsight. But please don’t worry - the midwives will take good care of you and you’ll be home before you know it; even with a section and twins I was out and home in less than 2 days! They really don’t hang about. Good luck :)

OP posts:
cupcakesandglitter · 24/03/2020 15:05

Whoops sorry @ELW85 took me that long to reply that I didn't see your message 🤦🏻‍♀️ My DH couldn't stay either - I ended up breaking down in the postnatal ward when they told him to leave. I just stayed up with baby, and got discharged as soon as I could because my anxiety was through the roof. Sorry if that doesn't help at all, but you can 10000% do this, the only thing I'd say is the midwives were really really supportive on the ward and very understanding about how hard it all is at the minute, they'll support you as much as possible 💕

Oh fab @LokiCat hopefully they stay off until labour 😊 they've been great! There's loads of postnatal stuff that happens that I didn't know about, and breastfeeding isn't as simple as I thought but it's all more than worth it x

Thanks @MrsEG it's a crazy time - I really hope they get your jabs sorted, I'm not sure if there's a certain time frame they need to be done by? You'd think they could do them on the home visits with the whole emergency situation!

MrsEG · 24/03/2020 15:18

@cupcakesandglitter All home visits are cancelled too! I’ve had to really push for the jabs to be viewed as an essential appointment. It’s been the toughest thing about the whole situation so far I’ve found.
I do think though that this COVID situation just isn’t going to change for a good while so I’ve been trying to find the positives - being home so much has really helped us find our feet and get a bit of a routine going, its amazing having DH home with us again with the boys, we’re getting SO inventive with some baby sensory in the living room. And I am working my way through the award winning wine selection at Lidl which has been wonderful haha!
My HV said on the phone that as frustrated as we all are, these babies won’t remember any of this. All that matters is that they are safe and loved; all else pales in comparison. I do my best now to just try and make the best of a bad situation! don’t get me wrong it can get very very lonely and some days are like Groundhog Day. But then you get a wee smile from the baba and all is good again!

OP posts:
Jessikka · 24/03/2020 16:14

@ELW85 I would be in tears too. I just asked a midwife about my hospital and I am allowed a birthing partner but then hes only allowed to stay for an hour once baby is born. He can come back and collect me when its home time. They said the hospital will try and turf me out providing the birth is straight forward but that the midwife will refuse it and make me stay for 6hrs. Though this may all change!

Maybe yours will implement something similar - fingers crossed!

Started losing a small part of my plug yesterday - only 5p in size so nothing drastic but today I have the same weird feeling that my cervix is being poked by a stick lol!

It's not painful or sharp just a little irritation that lasts whilst I walk. Like I've become very aware of it there or something.

We have to make it to the end of this lockdown please baby - though, on the other hand... I want baby here so I can protect them properly! Aaagh it's a headache!

ELW85 · 24/03/2020 18:02

@LokiCat @MrsEG @Jessikka @MrsH497 @cupcakesandglitter - thanks ladies. I feel so weird, hardly stopped crying (which I know won’t be helping things) but I think it’s a combination of little one not being here yet, feeling awful about everything CV wise at the moment and then facing a prospect of not having DH with me is just not something I really want to deal with right now.
I asked them to bring the induction forward a couple of days so we get a better outcome for all 3 of us and the doctors won’t as they don’t think the mental health side of it is a good enough reason.

MrsEG · 24/03/2020 18:52

@ELW85 Take a look at this Facebook group. I joined it today as it was set up by a woman local to me. It’s just for women with new babies or expecting during the pandemic to try and get through a situation that has simply never happened before, so the outside support just isn’t there. There have been some incredibly positive posts on the page today so if you are really upset perhaps it could help?

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 9!

ELW85 · 24/03/2020 20:59

@MrsEG - thank you so much, I’ll have a look at this now 😊
Hopefully he hurries himself up and I can join you in the wine selection soon!!

MrsEG · 24/03/2020 21:13

@ELW85 oh we don’t know ourselves tonight, they’ve napped since 7:30 - we’ve managed an online dance class, dinner and dessert and some wine!! They’re starting to grizzle a bit now which is ideal - my dream scenario is last bottle between 9:30-10 as we then get a good nights sleep!
I’ve got everything crossed for you - it’s a truly extraordinary time at the moment and one I think we’re part of a very unique group for - the tales we’ll have for our ‘Corona’ babies in future! ‘Yes son, me and your dad spent 12 weeks trying to entertain you with a foil blanket and a wooden spoon!’

OP posts:
FlapJackered · 25/03/2020 06:55

That is really tough @ELW85 not what you want to hear when it is already a stressful time.
@MrsH497 I am in the same boat with the scan, DH isn't allowed to come to my 12 week one either 😭
I was so upset yesterday that we booked a private scan for today. I know it's probably not the best idea to get 2 scans in one week but I think the anxiety of not having him there and after the MC last time I don't think I could cope with it if it was bad news. So going to get the scan tonight.
I do understand the restrictions but in a way if he had Corona so would I!

Thanks @MrsH497 @cupcakesandglitter @MrsEG 🤞
❤️😘

@LokiCat i have been exhausted since 8 weeks and on and off nausea but I feel like it is easing up now thankfully! I think I got off fairly lightly really but it doesn't feel like it 😂
Did you have it bad it the 1st trimester?
I am looking forward to getting some energy back!
God that must be really tough to not have your partner there during the birth at all, just not having DH at the scan has made me really anxious about it all.

@MrsEG Good to hear you are surviving with the lockdown, it must make everything a bit more difficult. But great to have DH there!

LokiCat · 25/03/2020 13:20

Hi ladies 😊

@cupcakesandglitter I can imagine it all must be worth it once they're here! Ahhh I can't wait! 🥰

@MrsEG hahaha foil blanket and wooden spoon 😂 yeah they're definitely being born at quite a time and I'm sure we'll have lots of stories for them! Thank you for sharing the Facebook group, I'm going to take a look at that too.
Sounds like you guys are making the most of the lockdown. Glad to hear you have DH home as well to help you out!

@ELW85 I hope you're feeling better today lovely 💕

@FlapJackered I think during the first trimester I was doing everything I could to keep the anxiety at bay because I know it can be quite a worrying time. If a scan today helps you, then it's good you went ahead! Plus it'll be nice for your DH to be there for the first one. I hope all went okay at the scan?
Apart from sore boobs I had no symptoms in my first trimester (which of course didn't help the anxiety at all!). So I thought I was one of the lucky ones that missed it, but the second trimester symptoms hit me hard; I couldn't keep any food down, was constantly tired and in pain till just before my 20 week scan. I was so glad once I was able to enjoy food again!
Glad to hear your symptoms are easing off and hopefully you'll have an easier second trimester!

So just got back from my 36 week growth scan - she's doing really well and growing nicely. They're still happy with the blood sugar levels so will let me go to 40+4 weeks. If I don't go in to natural labour by then, I've got my induction booked in for 25th April. So surreal having a date now! I'll try and do everything I can to see if she comes naturally before though; would prefer not to be induced!

FlapJackered · 25/03/2020 18:08

@LokiCat that is great your scan went well and she is a good size. 🙃 That is interesting you got your symptoms in the 2nd trimester, I hope mine are over now!
I had another call from the midwife to say they got it wrong and he is allowed to go after all 🤦‍♀️ Apparently its only the 12 week scan then after that I am on my own!
So I cancelled the private scan and now the wait for Friday! 😬

ELW85 · 26/03/2020 23:45

Evening all - sorry I can’t really update but I think this is it!
Having contractions lasting nearly a minute every 8 or so minutes now. Been in labour since around 7pm. I’ll update when I can - wish me luck!!
