Ah - see what I did there? [wink}
Hope it's ok to start a new thread. Computer couldn't cope with the old one.

Ok here, but am on operation not-go-mad today as have been feeling pretty down. Friend over this morning and will waddle into town this afternoon. This will render me exhausted and will then sleep/graze until bedtime.
Have also watched far too many baby progs on Discovery Health. Have become an armchair expert in giving birth ("ooh, you don't want to do that love"). Will get my come uppance soon enough!!!! Eek!!

Cazzybabs you're still around then (or were yesterday)? Hope your niggly pains turn into something.

Eyelash - how is your dh today? You'll be wanting this baby to be really late now I suppose.

Geogteach - I know what you mean about the phonecalls. It gets so annoying doesn't it.

Turtle35 · 05/10/2004 10:32

morning fellow mooses! had lots of pains last night that felt strangely like labour but it was so sporadic and all over the place that in hind sight I think it was upset tummy from dinner

I have been told that there is no mistaking it when it really happens. DB has been very active in the last few days which I think is a good sign and the period pains are not as bad today but still there.

I am so ready to have this baby....

Turtle35 · 05/10/2004 10:33

Bean well done on turing little bean, do you think it was because you spent so much time on all fours?

huppa · 05/10/2004 10:41

Ooh it´s so exciting waiting to see who´s going to pop first.

Bibi - any news of your brother yet?

Turtle - the pain sounds a nightmare and I´m afraid I´ve no ideas about how you can improve the situation.

Bean - good luck for today, you must be really pleased that bean has turned.

eyelash - hope your dh is feeling better today.

distracted - I can really understand your frustration. Hope you enjoy the reflexology this afternoon.

Hope everyone else is o.k.
No sign of anything happening here. I´m just enjoying the last few days/weeks of eating exactly what I want without feeling guilty. Mind you I wouldn´t really like to know what proportion of my daily calorie intake has come from either chocolate, biscuits, cake or ice-cream in the last few weeks, but I know I´d be horrified if I did .

cazzybabs · 05/10/2004 10:41

I am still here - and the midwife has recommended lots of sex, Pineapple (which has natural prostaglandins in) and Evening primose oil (which you put up your bits). Pains have gone - and to top it off I have a sore throat and a cold!

Toots · 05/10/2004 11:05

HAPPY DUE DATE TO YOU. HAPPY DUE DATE TO YOU. HAPPY DUE DATE DEAR BEANSPROUUUUUUUT, HAPPY DUE DATE TO YOU Make it so.

Evening Primrose oil up your bits Cazzybabs????? Ay Carumba! Mind you there came a point last time when I'd have basted myself with EPO and merenge'd up the high street, if I'd thought it would get things rolling. Let us know.

Where is Sooz????????

huppa · 05/10/2004 11:23

I forgot to say, here in Germany I was told a mixture of castor oil, peach juice and sparkling wine should get the baby moving. Luckily I didn´t need to try it out last time. Not sure of the quantities, but maybe miniscule amounts of castor oil and peach juice and huge amounts of sparkling wine might not taste too bad - then again in those quantities it probably wouldn´t work

Turtle35 · 05/10/2004 11:28

Huppa - take it easy on the castor oil - too much of that and anyone should go into labour

Bean are you OK? don't get down if it doesn't happen today.

Going to buy some more raspberry leaf tea and a hot water bottle for my hips. I really can only blame myself for gaining so much damn weight

geogteach · 05/10/2004 12:06

Toots yes pepcid 2 is what you need, must go and get some more for me - took last one yestaday, tried to convince myself that I would have this baby and therefore not need any more!
Today i've found the matress for the moses basket and had a nappy agent round so I could choose some new nappies, after all I am due in 2 days I suppose I ought to get something ready!
Just got a hospital appointment for DS through the post for 13th - what does everyone think shall I cancel this one or will I still be here at plus 6 days - your bets please ladies!

beansprout · 05/10/2004 12:29

Nothing major to report here , an increase in twinges and leaks but that probably says more about my hyper state of alert than anything that is actually happening.
Saw Dr Pants this morning and she thinks the baby is "er, perhaps posterior? I've forgotten the different positions, so I would have to look it up." Er.... excuse me?!!!!? I think Bean is pretty much where he needs to be but still refuse to lean back, just in case!

Geogteach - that sounds a bit tight - how long would you have to wait for another appointment?
Huupa - that brew sounds like it would set something off for sure, but maybe not labour. Might be good if anyone runs out of petrol on the way to the hospital though?

OP posts:
motherinferior · 05/10/2004 13:00

Oooh, good luck with those twinges!

eyelash · 05/10/2004 19:12

yipee - see birth announcements for my birth story

beansprout · 05/10/2004 21:19

Eyelash - soooo many congratulations to you! Such a lovely birth story - really fantastic to read about such a positive experience while we are forming an orderly queue! You sound really blissed out - long may it continue!

So... who's next? Nowt happening here - anyone else?!

OP posts:
Distracted · 05/10/2004 21:50

Eyelash - wonderful news (have posted on your birth announcement). Like the bit about the second midwife holding a hot water bottle on your dh's back Hope he's well enough soon to help you out.

I had my reflexology, which was certainly nice and relaxing and worth it for that if nothing else.

Cazzybabs good luck with the evening primrose oil - I seem to remember reading something about that last time I was pg, but I swallowed the capsules (can't now remember what I thought it was supposed to do). Hope your cold gets better super quick.

Good luck beansprout - hope your baby is still the right way, sounds like you know more than your doctor.

cazzybabs · 06/10/2004 09:08

I am hopefully there will be no need for evening primose oil/pineapples/sex (well not for a while )
....because today I have had my show and getting some pains. Not sure it will happen today, but hopefully tomorrow!

Am wishing everyone else strong (but fairly painfree) contractions!

beansprout · 06/10/2004 09:17

Happy Due Date Piglit!!
CBs - woohoo! Good luck!

Nothing happening here at all, in fact have felt better than I have done for a while. Pregnancy, schmegnancy.... I'm going off out for a bit. See y'all later.

xx

PS I am working on the same principle that dictates that every time I leave the room during an England game, they score. So.... want lots of October meecelets here when I get back, right?

OP posts:
piglit · 06/10/2004 10:58

Wonderful news Eyelash - congratulations.

Due date today but I'm not expecting anything to happen.....

Hope you are all well.

melsmum · 06/10/2004 13:58

does anyone ever hear of anyone having their baby on the due date??????????? its my dd's birthday today and i am making cakes/sausage rolls while the rest of the family sit on their backsides watching finding nemo for the millionth time. so i decided to sneak up here and have a moan. they are about to get stuck into the beer and wine as well, humphfff, huff!! does anyone ever hear of anyone having 2 babies on the same day, 2 years apart? im not due til the 17th so i suppose that wont happen.
glad to hear others are popping out fine. congrats! hope you are all well today.

melsmum · 06/10/2004 14:00

ps does "IT" bring on labour or was that made up (by a man probably)?(wink)

piglit · 06/10/2004 14:40

Sex,pineapples and curry can help to bring it on. Sex works because of the prostaglandin in semen. Apparently you have to lie on your back with your legs in the air afterwards to bathe your cervix in it. Sorry if that's too much info but I just wanted to share it with you...

Distracted · 06/10/2004 15:03

And according to my MW the most effective way to do it is 3x in a row 12 hours apart (just like they do with the prostaglandin gel). She also said to stay on your back for 1 hour after each time. Only works though if your cervix is getting ready to go though...

Cazzybabs that's good news - hope it all continues and progresses smoothly for you.

I do know of 2 people who delivered on their due dates - but think it's only supposed to be something like 6%?

I'm 9 days over today and suppose was almost thinking of today as my due date this week as day 9 was when I went into labour last time (although was after a sweep on day 8). Was disappointed when I woke up in the morning with nothing (it started when I woke up at 6 am last time).

Just had a big show this afternoon, so maybe? But it's not the first, had one after first sweep last weekend and a tiny bit more after second sweep. Am waiting for the rain to stop and then going for a short walk to 'get my body going'!

beansprout · 06/10/2004 15:22

Good luck with the walk Distracted. I seem to be settling down here for quite a wait - that's my strong hunch, but would be happy to be wrong!

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 06/10/2004 15:32

Am def. having contractions - but very very mild ones. Have been shopping with a friend and she didn't notice. Am now scared - its going to hurt. Anyay hopefully they will continue and not die out by the time I have to see the doctor tomorrow!

Bibiboo · 06/10/2004 16:00

ooooh cazzybabs, very excited for you and just a smidge jealous

I too believe I am here for the long haul bean, there has been no movement despite a whole pineapple to myself in 1 go, 2 hot curries since Saturday and even sex. DH thinks it's Christmas!

Mmw said again yesterday that the baby wasn't a tiddler, and asked me how tall (I'm not "tall" at all) I was and what shoe size I wore (small) in case my pelvis can't cope with the monster I'm apparently carrying - darn that tall, broad husband of mine!!!

Sending out good vibes to you all, oh, and I've had my hair cut so at least one part of me looks okay now...until I wash it and try and style it myself. Cue mad hormone attack ...

miffy2 · 06/10/2004 16:31

My head is hanging low girls, I feel bad for not posting for so long. I guess my excuse is that when the kids are at home I am busy as a bee and when they are in school/montessori I am running round like a mad thing, shopping, getting 'ready' etc.

Anyway I had a quick look at the messages and it is really exciting coming to Due dates! Mine is not for another 16 days but you never know this one might come early.

Had a scan last week as baby was measuring small for dates. He weighed in at 6lbs 3oz which is fine. He is a bit of a gymnast tho as I get kicks at all angles at the same time.

Bag is almost packed, just last-minute stuff to put in. Got a feeding bra (underwired!) yesterday so I feel totally prepared now.

Like most of you I am on the loo every 10 mins or so, have horrendous heartburn and on top of that I am on antibiotics for a bad cold/chest infection.

Anyway I am sure the next time I log in I will be reading birth announcements from you early birds. Best of luck, don't worry so much about the pain, remember the prize for it, and get as much rest as you can (says she who plans to do the ironing tonight...)

Take care, Miffy
