Ah - see what I did there? [wink}
Hope it's ok to start a new thread. Computer couldn't cope with the old one.

Ok here, but am on operation not-go-mad today as have been feeling pretty down. Friend over this morning and will waddle into town this afternoon. This will render me exhausted and will then sleep/graze until bedtime.
Have also watched far too many baby progs on Discovery Health. Have become an armchair expert in giving birth ("ooh, you don't want to do that love"). Will get my come uppance soon enough!!!! Eek!!

Turtle35 · 02/10/2004 11:41

As of 30 Sept Eyelash was still pg.......

Toots · 02/10/2004 14:27

Hi Distracted nice to have you with us. Hope it won't be too long for you.

beansprout · 02/10/2004 14:41

Hi Distracted, you are v welcome but as others have said, hope you don't have to wait too much longer.

After a burst of energy this morning, am exhausted again. Hope that wedding is ok Turtle. Make sure you at least get double cake?

does everyone realise this is virtually the first Saturday this thread has been active - what does that tell us. Just been out to lunch en famille as DH has been offered a new job, i'm married to a consultant!

beansprout · 02/10/2004 14:54

Congratulations to Mr Geogteach!!
I'm v relieved that we are all about this weekend, as I am WAY too jittery to not talk to you meece for 2 days! Feel like I want to take the register every day to see if we are all still here - anyone who doesn't post for a couple of days is giving me the jitters... Bibi?!

Hello all - still here after my sweep yesterday . I had a show today but nothing else (and last time when the sweep did work I remember having cramps for several hours plus I think some bleeding all leading up to the time when my contractions started), so this one hasn't worked. At least I got to go to the NCT nearly new sale today though and bought lots of baby clothes (just hope we got the sex right now or else they won't be much use)

Cazzybabs are you still here?

Eyelash had a sweep on Thursday didn't she and they told her things looked good, so her disappearance is rather portentous - perhaps she did have a September baby after all!

Turtle35 thanks for the recommendation for reflexology. I think after my next sweep on Monday I will try to find out about local reflexologists and see whether something can be booked at short notice.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

cazzybabs · 02/10/2004 20:45

Congratulations to Mr. Mr Geogteach and his new job. I am still here - I have had a hot curry!!!! Still no show or anything. I will only start to get worried on Wednesday ....

eyelash · 03/10/2004 08:19

Congrats to Mr Geogteach.

Still here - after Thursday's internal/sweep had loads (and I mean loads) of show all day Friday and yesterday). Went for long walk on beech yesterday and then last night started having regular contractions about 10 - 15 mins apart. Dead excited obviously. Midwife on call rang to say she was going to a party and was anything happening (booked for homebirth). Explained I thought I was in early labour but didn't expect anything to happen until early morning at earliest. She rang back at 10pm when I was still getting contractions (nothing I couldn't cope with) and said have a bath and get to bed. Did that, went to bed and woke up at 4am with no contractions at all. And still nothing now. Gutted to say the least but had a false labour with ds1 2 days before I went into proper labour so maybe it means it is imminent. I did have the most fantastic sleep though.

How foolish do I feel though and the poor midwifes on call (both at same party) didn't even have a glass of wine. They must think I am off my head. Long walk on cards again today.

Hope everybody else is well.

Cazzybabs and Distracted - hope your labours start soon.

MTS - thanks for asking and as you can see still here.

huppa · 03/10/2004 10:05

Eyelash - what a bummer - so close and yet so far. At least you got a good nights sleep, exactly what you need before labour.
I had 4 really bad nights sleep last week and ended up saying I could´t possibly go into labour because I was simply too tired. Fingers crossed that something happens for you today aswell as Cazzybabs, Distracted and sooz31.

Congratulations to your dh geogteach.

Turtle- how was the wedding? Hope your not feeling too exhausted today.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

Eyelash what a pain - at least things are happening though, surely it can't be long now. I had a show all yesterday and some still today after Friday's sweep, so similar to you. Also wonder if baby had suddenly become much more engaged as a result too (was only 2/5), as now getting much more difficulties with moving legs in certain ways and more pelvic pain and had a bloody awful night last night.

Huppa, can really sympathise with you saying you can't go into labour now as you're too tired as I'm a bit the same. Was up every 2 hours going to loo last night, had to change position every 1 hour and each time I had to move it was excrutiating and took me ages to manouvre myself into a new position, to then lie there awake for ages. I haven't slept really well for the last few months but last night was suddenly a turn for the worse (hence my theory that is due to baby being more engaged). I feel so exhausted today, but I wonder if things are only going to get worse, so I'm the opposite to you and more inclined to just want it all over now. May try a longish walk today (did this last pg and didn't work so this time had decided it's more important to rest, but worth a try perhaps today)

Turtle hope your wedding went well?

Sooz31 you've now joined us on the overdue list then

Harman - I'm nervous too, each time I get a bh and wonder slightly if it will be something else, a bit of me panics too. Also worried about arrangements for my dd. Keep worrying about going into fast labour at a time when parents can't quickly get to me to look after dd and dh is 1.5 hours drive away at work during the week(and once he gets here hospital is 1 hour drive too). But then I am a natural worrier anyway Hope you enjoyed choosing some new furniture - bit of shopping therapy can't be a bad thing.

beansprout · 03/10/2004 12:38

Hi everyone, another one here who just worries that if I go into labour now I simply won't have the energy to finish the job. Keep trying to conserve energy but am going stir crazy as a result. Could I actually OD on raspberry leaf tablets and induce labour? Is that possible?

Distracted and CBs - fingers crossed that your shows develop into something soon and best of luck with the shoppnig and house Harman, hope it's everything you want/need it to be.

I too have those unspeakable fears. Someone actually told me yesterday that babies die sometimes but that i shouldn't worry as it's not that common..!!! FFS!! We had a SIDS death in the family earlier this year so thanks, but I really do have this fear already!! What is WRONG with some people?!

Turtle35 · 03/10/2004 12:40

This thread is getting so exciting!!! I read Eyelashes last post holding my breath and then said out loud "Oh Damn" thinking it was all kicking off. I can't wait to see who has first DB.

I didn't last long at the wedding, I forgot how uncomfortable it is sitting in a church for an hour and then on the way to reception in central London it absolutely poured down with rain, got soaked, I managed to squeeze my feet into a pair of sling-backs which have left a permanent mark around my ankle (used to fit), had a glass of champagne which gave me horrific heart burn, canapes were all things I couldn't eat and decided to make a break for it just before dinner (although the most important part for me, I knew I couldn't sit through 4 courses and then hours of speeches). Came home and got into pjs, had some pasta and watched a movie ....marvellous

Harman good luck and have fun shopping, I think it is normal to worry about the worst when you are so close to labour but it's your mind working overtime and we do this in our dreams also. You are not tempting fate, this will make you feel more worried, good luck with the move and all, sure hope you have lots of luck and DONT over do it!! God I sound like a mother already

Turtle35 · 03/10/2004 12:43

Bean some people are incredibly tactless!! and plain stupid, try to feel worry for who ever told you that because they must be incredibly thick!!! I am banishing those thoughts from your head now....... have you felt any BH's?

beansprout · 03/10/2004 12:48

Turtle - what thoughts?
I'm not sure if I am having BHs, well, probably am having them but not sure. Do get a lot of feeling v crampy/period pain like feelings though, so perhaps that's it?

Good work on the wedding front too - PJs and a film, that's our girl!

OP posts:
Turtle35 · 03/10/2004 13:27

Bean crampy period like pains are good!! this means little bean is on it's way!! woo hoo.

I am sooo excited for you. It won't be long and by the way, as we are both first timers, I want details - yep even the gory ones. You can do this, I started a thread on advice for labour and got back a lot of great advice and responses, even though a lot of woman say have an epidural, YOU CAN do it without, you are a strong woman who will work through it and the end result will be amazing for you. I personally thought the best advice was every contraction is bringing you closer to your baby and it WILL end.

Turtle35 · 03/10/2004 13:37

by the way, the two things I really didn't want to happen during pg was

a) stretch marks - got a couple now that I am 9 months pg!!

b) hemmoroids - yikes painful and horrible, why now???? grrr I gather prep H is OK? I really don't want to go into labour with bad piles as if it's not bad enough.

cazzybabs · 03/10/2004 16:03

beansprout that is very exciting - hope its getting more painful (well in a labour kind of way) - my dp told me off for typing that but if its getting more painful then maybe things are happening....and don't worry about labour - I didn't quite enjoy mine but it was an amazing experience when I felt dd head streaching passages (sorry tif thats TMI) - but it was amazing. That's not to say I am looking forward to birth this time though!

Erghh I am bored, dp is bored and friends are bored - all waiting fot things to happen! I have backache and my tummy hurts but not sadly in a labour way! Still no show or anything even slighly exctiing - except am very tired. Have read the thread on posteror babies and have decided better get back to the ball!

florenceuk · 03/10/2004 19:02

Good luck Beansprout! Waiting for updates soon....

fisil · 03/10/2004 19:08

Just popping in to say...

GOOD LUCK ALL OF YOU!!!!!

I hope they all just pop out like a champagne cork!

beansprout · 03/10/2004 20:17

Thanks everyone but I really don't think anything is happening yet, as this has been coming and going for a few days now.
Blimey, I thought waiting for buses was bad, but THIS....!!

Turtle - I saw your thread and thought it was great and have really held onto some of the advice on there. I can see past the birth now too, whereas i was quite fixated on it for a while. Yes, it will hurt but a few hours of that to meet Bean feels like something I can do ...(good job eh?!!! )

OP posts:
Toots · 03/10/2004 21:15

Just knew there would be lots to catch up on on here. Turtle - slingbacks, I salute you! But I double salute your pjs and pasta.

I had a crazy thought earlier... I'm going to miss this time on here with you lot. I'm sure we'll all stay a community on an october babies thread, but I just felt nostalgic for the part of this year that has been the moose massive. Might have to print the whole caboodle out for db!

We now have not one, but two cots fully operational - even twins couldn't throw me now

Look forward to more chat tomorrow. Huppa and Distracted - hope you get good sleeps tonight. Everyone else too.

xxxxxxx

piglit · 04/10/2004 09:13

I've been having period type pains for a few days (and backache) but just assumed it was my body getting ready. There's no regularity to them and it's just an uncomfortable ache. I am off to meet some of my old mukkas today - perhaps a day of girly chat and gossip will take my mind of it all. Good luck to everyone.....
