@cupcakesandglitter I'm really sorry to hear that, though it's totally understandable as you do think once you've hit 12 weeks you can chill out a bit. Hopefully your midwife and doctors will be able to reassure you a bit, they must come across this issue fairly regularly. Big hugs lovely.
@BabySquid haha thanks, I loved getting to see all it's bits (other than, you know, it's actual bits!) up close...so fascinating! Interesting you say girl, there is a theory floating around the internet (must be true then
) that girls are more likely to be the ones you can't tell. But really, who knows! I have heard it's true that not knowing is a good motivation for those last few pushes too. I've also heard you think you'll check right away, but actually in the moment you often are overcome with emotion and forget for a few minutes! Enjoy your evening of baking - sounds fab!
@MrsH497 it's amazing how much more detail you can see at 20 weeks than 12 weeks. Ooo that's exciting - will you decide on the day do you think? Sorry to hear you're experiencing some anxiety, though I'm sure that's totally normal. I think focusing on positive next steps - like the booking in appointment - is a great way to help. So at my booking in appointment they took a urine sample and blood sample, measured my height and weight, took my blood pressure and did the CO2 breath test thing. They also asked me loads of questions and gave me my maternity notes. It was lovely and made it all feel much more real, plus it's also a great chance to ask any questions. Mine lasted about an hour. Your partner can go if you like, but they don't need to (I went on my own and it was fine). More info on it here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/first-midwife-appointment/
@MrsR16 thank you lovely! I think we got lucky and the baby was nice and still briefly, which helps. It must be so, so amazing to feel them. I am fairly certain I can feel them....but it isn't anything obvious yet!! Just read you start mat leave on December 9th - that is an absolutely dreamy scenario! You're going to have the best festive time ever.
@ELW85 Thanks - I was pretty taken aback by how much they'd changed in 8 weeks to be honest. Weird to think if all goes well that's it now until we meet in person! I meant the bit where the guy goes "I bet you'd like to know what the fucks going on?!" and I just screamed YES WE WOULD PLEASE at the TV, to no avail
. Nice early night for you perhaps? And then when you wake up it's seriously countdown time until the weekend!
@MrsEG Yeah it's a strange notion isn't it really? My god....baby dungarees....you'll set me off again!! Too cute. This is a bit of an odd one - and might be totally irrelevant - but I was suffering really badly with back pain (right around the time I was getting headaches, lovely combo). Anyway, I eventually realised it was my bra (which is odd as it was in the lower area). I've switched over to crop top bralettes and it's really, really helped. Hopefully yoga will help tonight.
@thumper59 haha thanks, you're totally right - main thing is they are healthy and well! Great your midwife appointment went well today - and fab he's head down. Stay put little bubba! The heartbeat never gets old does it?! How long are your midwife appointments btw? My last one was only 15 mins - is that about normal now?
@PippaPug great news it's all going well! That must be a fab feeling! I think we're definitely going to wait until the birth now - we've both gone from 100% wanting to know, to really looking forward to a surprise. I'm really quite shocked, especially at DH who was utterly adamant he wanted to know.
Right - I've finished work so I'm off to give the house a bit of a proper clean and wash the dog as we've got people staying this weekend and I'm always paranoid about being nose blind re: dog smells
.
