Afternoon all!

@purplefig - what a gorgeous scan photo!! I really can’t believe how developed the little one is! I’m pleased your napture went well - too well for @LokiCat 😂
Why am I struggling to remember the ending? At the Shard? Clearly time for my napture!!

@MrsEG - I think The Capture is only 4 eps in so not lots to catch up on.

@MrsH497 - totally understandable that you’re feeling as you are on the anxiety front, but I’m sure everything will be just fine 😊

@cupcakesandglitter - congratulations on the scan! When we went for the NIPT, the baby refused to move from their side so they couldn’t get a great measurement; my sympathies!!

@MrsR16 - can’t believe you’re in the third tri! When are you finishing up work-wise?

I’m absolutely shattered today. Is it the weekend yet?!

MrsR16 · 25/09/2019 14:01

@ELW85 I honestly don't know where the time has gone! Mat leave officially starts on 9th December, which work have agreed. But then I have a week of annual leave to take on top of that, as well as three bank holidays and two more days as my place shuts down for 2 days over Christmas so used 2 days holiday which I forgot about! My calculations make that 22nd November as my last working day 😊 less than 2 months! I just need HR to confirm... 🤦‍♀️

Tropicana1 · 25/09/2019 14:32

@BostonFern your food prep sounds immense. I'm definitely going to have to take a leaf out of your book!

@MrsEG I wasn't happy with the bake off result either!! Don't want to post spoilers though for those that haven't watched yet so that's all I'll say 😂

@cupcakesandglitter yay glad the 12 week scan went well 😊 sorry the nurse just left you hanging with the booklet rather than explaining things to you

MrsEG · 25/09/2019 15:07

@cupcakesandglitter Glad the 12 week scan went so well! As others have said try not to worry yourself too much about the Rhesus, I believe it’s incredibly common. As the saying goes though, we start worrying from getting pregnant right until they grow up and move out!! All part and parcel of being a parent :)

@purplefig I’m exactly the same, I hate the idea of very gendered clothing although I think it’s much easier with girls - I’d dress a girl in absolutely anything but I can’t seem me putting a little boy in a tutu! My niece is often in dungarees, trainers, little shirts etc - there’s just so much more variety for them!

@MrsH497 So understandable to be anxious but try to enjoy this time - the booking in appt is great, it all starts to feel very real from there!

MrsEG · 25/09/2019 15:14

@MrsR16 Glad you’re feeling good! Wow just two more months!! Amazing. That will go super fast!

@ELW85 Awesome! Might try and catch up on them tonight. I’m really enjoying it but a bit confused!! I guess that’s the point :) Gotta love a good Beeb drama!

@Tropicana1 Agreed - no spoilers but I wasn’t happy! Also absolutely loved Noel’s shirt!

I’m getting so much pain in my very lower back/butt today. If it’s still like this tomorrow I might try and see a physio or something. It’s really painful getting out of my chair!

thumper59 · 25/09/2019 15:46

@purplefig aww I can't believe baby is keeping us all waiting!! So happy for you everything was as it should be.. you really don't care do you once you hear that and see them bouncing around! I feel like I haven't seen our little man in ages now. Lovely scan picture 🥰

@MrsEG I am laughing out loud at your DP saying you look like peter griffin! He sounds like my OH. I remember when I was about 20 weeks he rolled over in bed, cuddled me
And went 'aww. Look at your saggy belly' 😂😂 he meant it in the nicest way possible, he just doesn't have a way with words 🙄😂😂 he comes out with all sorts of back handed compliments- good job I love him!

@MrsH497 I am another who had bad skin in the first tri! It soon passed though. Unfortunately with it being hormonal I don't think their is much we can do except wait for it to pass

@MrsR16 welcome to the third trimester!! Not long now!!

@cupcakesandglitter glad the scan went well. I echo everyone else about trying not to worry about the rhesus. It is common- but I know it's hard not to worry💞

I had midwife this morning. All is fine! Heard his heartbeat again. She took his measurements and he is on the top line again so doing well- she was shocked by how much my bump had grown in 3 weeks, she was shocked by how high the top of my uterus is to the bottom of my ribs, I think she said I have less than half an inch so no wonder I'm having so much acid/ getting breathless, and how he has his feet firmly wedged under there 😂 little bugger. He's been head down since about 27-28 weeks now so I'm hoping he stays there! Booked my next 2 appointments one in two weeks, one two weeks after which takes me to 38+2 which is just so hard to believe! I've heard his heartbeat multiple times now and it's still as amazing as the first time 💞

PippaPug · 25/09/2019 15:49

@Fivebyfive2 @MrsEG @LokiCat @BostonFern @purplefig
Thanks for the well wishes for the consultant, after all that I didn’t get a extra scan! However, he said that the pregnancy is going really well he has no concerns minus the fact I’m high risk due to the twins, at the 20 week scan I will also have my cervix checked to see how likely it is for me to go into early labour....if that’s all fine he will see me at 34 weeks to see what position the babies are in - if they are head down we can go ahead with trying for a natural labour so fingers crossed!

@MrsEG - what prices have you seen for it roughly if you don’t mind me asking? I have seen so many different prices!

@Lokicat - Scans are the best when you see them wiggling around and dancing, I have just put some of our scans on the fridge and it makes me smile every time I walk past ☺️ How are you today after your nap/sleep?!

@BabySquid I had grown my hair for the wedding and it was so long, really needed a cut! I really like it but I went to see my Nan yesterday and she asked me what was wrong with my black floppy hair 🤨😂 She has dementia and because I had changed my appearance it threw her, but did make me laugh!

@MrsR16 - wahooo your on the home stretch now!

@Purplefig - Yes I really like that shop and love we have family history there! It’s quite exciting not finding out I think! Do you think your wait till the birth now? Your scan is beautiful 😍

@Bostonfern - batch cooking is fab, your husband sounds lovely!

@cupcakesandglitter

Your baby sounds like a right little mover! Sorry they wouldn’t keep still long enough for a decent scan photo! My 12 week ones like that, one 2 semi decent ones and that’s at a push! I’m sorry that the midwife wasnt that sympathetic or supportive, can you ring your community midwife for a chat perhaps?

I sadly haven’t got into bake off this year - I’m sure it’s because I seem to feel nauseas every time I watch it but I don’t know why?! So random!

MrsH497 · 25/09/2019 16:23

@MrsEG what happens at the booking in appointment?! All I've been told by the gp receptionist is a urine test!

MrsEG · 25/09/2019 16:41

@MrsH497 Oh god, your life history! Be prepared to be asked if you and DH are blood relatives too!! And yep urine and blood tests too. Mine took about an hour! But it was so lovely - being congratulated on your pregnancy and discussing all things babies, I really enjoyed it. DH came along and I thought he’d hate it but he loved it too!

@PippaPug Thats great news! Yeah I have to have a cervix check too - doing all my pelvic floor exercises to keep it strong haha! Cheapest I can find for the 360 is £170 at the moment - it’s on offer at Mothercare. Oh god I am totally the opposite with Bake Off it makes me so hungry!!

@thumper59 such charmers!! He made about 3 fat jokes yesterday - I was like ‘one day I’ll just start crying and then you’ll feel bad!!’ Two more appointments! That is so exciting! Rest up easy now over the next few weeks!

@stormtrooperjulian I hope all is going well for you??

OP posts:
purplefig · 25/09/2019 16:52

@cupcakesandglitter I'm really sorry to hear that, though it's totally understandable as you do think once you've hit 12 weeks you can chill out a bit. Hopefully your midwife and doctors will be able to reassure you a bit, they must come across this issue fairly regularly. Big hugs lovely.

@BabySquid haha thanks, I loved getting to see all it's bits (other than, you know, it's actual bits!) up close...so fascinating! Interesting you say girl, there is a theory floating around the internet (must be true then Grin) that girls are more likely to be the ones you can't tell. But really, who knows! I have heard it's true that not knowing is a good motivation for those last few pushes too. I've also heard you think you'll check right away, but actually in the moment you often are overcome with emotion and forget for a few minutes! Enjoy your evening of baking - sounds fab!

@MrsH497 it's amazing how much more detail you can see at 20 weeks than 12 weeks. Ooo that's exciting - will you decide on the day do you think? Sorry to hear you're experiencing some anxiety, though I'm sure that's totally normal. I think focusing on positive next steps - like the booking in appointment - is a great way to help. So at my booking in appointment they took a urine sample and blood sample, measured my height and weight, took my blood pressure and did the CO2 breath test thing. They also asked me loads of questions and gave me my maternity notes. It was lovely and made it all feel much more real, plus it's also a great chance to ask any questions. Mine lasted about an hour. Your partner can go if you like, but they don't need to (I went on my own and it was fine). More info on it here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/first-midwife-appointment/

@MrsR16 thank you lovely! I think we got lucky and the baby was nice and still briefly, which helps. It must be so, so amazing to feel them. I am fairly certain I can feel them....but it isn't anything obvious yet!! Just read you start mat leave on December 9th - that is an absolutely dreamy scenario! You're going to have the best festive time ever.

@ELW85 Thanks - I was pretty taken aback by how much they'd changed in 8 weeks to be honest. Weird to think if all goes well that's it now until we meet in person! I meant the bit where the guy goes "I bet you'd like to know what the fucks going on?!" and I just screamed YES WE WOULD PLEASE at the TV, to no avail Grin. Nice early night for you perhaps? And then when you wake up it's seriously countdown time until the weekend!

@MrsEG Yeah it's a strange notion isn't it really? My god....baby dungarees....you'll set me off again!! Too cute. This is a bit of an odd one - and might be totally irrelevant - but I was suffering really badly with back pain (right around the time I was getting headaches, lovely combo). Anyway, I eventually realised it was my bra (which is odd as it was in the lower area). I've switched over to crop top bralettes and it's really, really helped. Hopefully yoga will help tonight.

@thumper59 haha thanks, you're totally right - main thing is they are healthy and well! Great your midwife appointment went well today - and fab he's head down. Stay put little bubba! The heartbeat never gets old does it?! How long are your midwife appointments btw? My last one was only 15 mins - is that about normal now?

@PippaPug great news it's all going well! That must be a fab feeling! I think we're definitely going to wait until the birth now - we've both gone from 100% wanting to know, to really looking forward to a surprise. I'm really quite shocked, especially at DH who was utterly adamant he wanted to know.

Right - I've finished work so I'm off to give the house a bit of a proper clean and wash the dog as we've got people staying this weekend and I'm always paranoid about being nose blind re: dog smells Grin.

MrsEG · 25/09/2019 18:17

@purplefig Oh god, her outfits are amazing - she even has this fabulous pair of pink glittery Dr Martens (stealing those for the twins for sure!!) I already wear crop tops as I refuse to keep buying new bras haha! The pain is more contained to my pelvic region now. I saw pain it’s more of a twinge. Might give the midwife a call tomorrow just to check it’s all normal! It could be the twins - today I finally felt proper movement - twice in quick concession like someone was flicking me from the inside! I was so shocked I held my breath for about 8 seconds!!
Enjoy the dog bath - when I bath ours he smells even worse for the first 24 hours haha! Oh the joys of long, wiry husky fur that just won’t dry!!

LokiCat · 25/09/2019 20:06

Hi all! Hope you've had a lovely day 😊

@BabySquid haha I've definitely had lazy mornings in bed where I've ended up snoozing for an hour and then regretted it when trying to find parking!
Luckily I'm at a training course 15 minutes from my house tomorrow and Friday, so I get an extra lie in Grin

@MrsR16 omg third trimester! How amazing! How are you feeling? December 9th will be a great time to be off from, especially with the festive season so close!

@purplefig yeah we had some amazing sunshine on the way home today, as well! I was boiling because I was all wrapped up to cover myself from the rain!
That is such an amazing scan photo!! I can't believe how much you can see, I didn't even realise.
I was literally screaming YES at the tv when he asked that! I was genuinely sulking when it finished that we'd have to wait another week. So cruel 😩

@ELW85 love the word play with Napture. It definitely caught me last night 😂

@MrsEG I definitely have my moments where I feel like I constantly want to sleep some nights and others where I can't sleep at all! Haha I'm definitely still in the intrigued yet confused state four episodes in, it's definitely got me hooked!
Sorry to hear you're having some aches, I hope pregnancy yoga helps tonight!

@cupcakesandglitter ah that must have been amazing seeing such an active baby during the scan! Sorry to hear the nurse was unhelpful to just leave you alone after telling you that without much information. Hope all is okay!

@MrsH497 ah a week till your booking in appointment, how exciting! Mine definitely made things feel more real, especially talking about the pregnancy, the birth etc.

@thumper59 glad everything was fine at your appointment and you got to hear the heartbeat again! I bet that can never get old 😍
Wow two more appointments, so exciting!

@PippaPug oh that's great that all went well with the consultant! Fingers crossed babies will be head down by then so you can your natural birth :) I bet! I can't wait to see the scans with an active baby.
I was feeling great this morning, very refreshed after a long sleep but started crashing down by the afternoon haha

I'm already in bed again. Started feeling quite nauseous after dinner so thought lying down might make me feel better. DH has just brought me up a hot chocolate, which is so sweet. Don't think I'll be able to stomach it, unfortunately 😩

MrsR16 · 25/09/2019 20:20

@MrsEG I hope so! 😊 sorry to hear you're struggling with your back! Have you got a support belt yet? I've got one, have yet to figure out how to wear it...

@thumper59 thank you lovely! Amazing you got to hear baby again and great that he's already primed and ready being head down!

@PippaPug I certainly am! You'll be there before you know it 😊

@purplefig I'm desperately hoping baby arrives early/on time so I can really enjoy our first Christmas as a bigger family!

@LokiCat it's certainly coming round very quickly! I'm doing ok, now getting quite tired in the evening so my volunteering has taken a back seat (although I'm still doing one night a week and occasional weekend stuff...) I'm also starting to suffer with heartburn! Look after yourself and just do what your body tells you to do! Xx

thumper59 · 25/09/2019 21:03

@MrsEG what are they like 😂 3 weeks left at work!

@purplefig oh mine are the same not long at all! She literally does my blood pressure, asks if I'm ok. Does my wee sample and takes his measurement and heartbeat. I was wondering if they'd start discussing anything else soon? But I don't think so. I think unless you bring something up they assume you are all smooth sailing, we had the health visitor week before last who went through safe sleeping/ feeding a little bit too. I don't really know what the general rule is or what your really suppose to discuss? Hope washing the dog wasn't to bad - it's a military operation in this house 😂

@LokiCat it really doesn't, it's so prominent and strong now and super easy for them to find. I feel like I just know him so well already. It's so weird! Aw sorry you can't stomach your hot chocolate. Rest up! Get as much sleep as you need xx

@MrsR16 aww I hope baby is on time for you. I'm so excited to have him here for Christmas! Sorry the heartburn is getting you, it's awful! Keep stocked up on gaviscon x

MrsR16 · 25/09/2019 21:13

@thumper59 i bet you are! Next year will be so awesome, as our little uns will be old enough to get excited but won't be old enough to know to what they're getting excited about!! 😊 xx

BabySquid · 25/09/2019 21:28

Oh my gosh I just typed a nice long post and my phone decided to say it had posted then crash!!

@MrsEG I've just watched bake off and I can't believe who's gone! Soz but spoiler alert...
The only goth who doesn't portray us all as devil worshipping manic depressives!! Not impressed!
@MrsR16 you can start your mat leave any time from 11 weeks pre DD.
@MrsH497 my booking appointment was fairly quick, 4 tubes of blood, urine test, family history, asked if everything was ok with my marriage. Did the CO test and height and weight. Didn't really ask hubs that much which I was surprised about.

Well my cupcakes are made ready for icing tomorrow. Here we have lemon, and choc orange. 🤤😍

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 7!
MrsEG · 25/09/2019 21:43

Evening all, I skipped yoga tonight, my pelvis was really aching so I went home for a rest and a snooze. I’ve woken up and it’s completely stopped. Work has been crazy today and I’ve been on my feet non-stop so I wonder if it was that?

Soo, just watching Emma Willis and of course it’s twins, again! But the mum had them naturally! And it was absolutely textbook! Absolutely amazing to watch. She actually made it look easy haha! DH kept telling me to turn it off but I love watching them, makes me feel a lot more prepared! @PippaPug if you can find it on catch up I definitely recommend!

@LokiCat How lovely of DH! Did you manage the hot chocolate? I can get a bit like that and sometimes feel like an insomniac at night but I think it’s because I have too many naps!!

@MrsR16 I do have a support belt actually, why didn’t I think of this?! Might be time to start wearing it! I was told to wear it for walking/moving about mostly too, so that would make sense! Have you tried yours yet? I tried mine at the weekend, it took me ages to figure out where everything went haha!

@thumper59 3 weeks of work left!! Brilliant. I’m so jealous haha! Just saw your comment about your dog - same with us! Always, always takes two of us and my god if you don’t get out of the way when he gets out you’re getting drenched when he shakes!!

@BabySquid I know, she was my fave, I’m still so annoyed!!! Those cakes look absolutely lovely :) Orange choc is my all time fave!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 25/09/2019 21:56

@BabySquid those cakes look just amazing... I know I can start my mat leave early, but I have annual leave and bank holidays to take, so I'll take those (fully paid) bits before mat leave starts and I become poor for the next 9 months! 😂 but it'll so be worth it and it will all work out.

@MrsEG I tried to put it on this morning before work, but absolutely epically failed at life! 😂😂 I'm getting DH to help me work it out tonight so if I need it I can use it!

MrsEG · 25/09/2019 22:02

@MrsR16 They're bloody hard work aren't they?! Mine is in three different parts haha! Took me embarrassingly long to even figure out what Velcro bits went where! Good luck with yours!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 25/09/2019 22:04

@MrsEG I'll take a picture and upload it here if I have success! 😂😂

ELW85 · 26/09/2019 08:13

Morning all!

I had some much needed time with DH last night, so apologies for the late reply!

Also slightly anxious at getting the NIPT results tomorrow/Monday morning. I think it’s just bothering me as it’s getting closer to the time.

How are we all today? I’m in Glasgow for work and then a short day tomorrow which I’m very excited about!

@purplefig - I totally forgot about that guy, but yes we most certainly would like to know what’s going on!!

@MrsEG - I hope you’re not too sore today? Doesn’t sound like much fun!

@PippaPug - those are really encouraging words from the consultant; you must be so pleased!

Tropicana1 · 26/09/2019 08:24

Morning ladies!

@MrsEG @thumper59 my DH is also a master of the brutal honesty 😂
The other day I asked him if he thought strangers would know I was pregnant now and he just goes "probably not, to be honest you just look a bit fat" 😂 cheers!

@MrsEG does your husky enjoy bath time? My malamute HATES a bath so I usually end up doing it once a year at best 😂 and bath isn't really an accurate description as he won't stay in it so it's a buckets in the garden job

MrsH497 · 26/09/2019 08:37

Ooh @MrsEG hope you're doing ok today

@ELW85 glad you got some quality time with DH. I'm sure the NIPT results will be find but can totally understand the anxiety.

@Tropicana1 😂 sounds like what my hubs would say!

Off to Devon tomorrow to see the in-laws. We had originally planned to go abroad but when we found out I was pregnant (still doesn't feel real!) because of what happened last time I didn't feel comfortable going abroad. 8 hours of work to get through and a week today is the midwife appointment!! Feeling a bit 🤢 this morning.

Anyone got any different recommendations other than pregnacare think they make me feel worse

Have a good day lovely ladies xx

ELW85 · 26/09/2019 08:54

@MrsH497 - thank you 😊 I hope you have a wonderful time in Devon, I’ve still not been but it’s on the list!
I know it sounds totally counterintuitive, but have you tried having something light to eat? I always found it ended up helping with the nausea (when I could force it down!)

purplefig · 26/09/2019 09:21

@MrsEG oh wow - you've got to get your hands on those Dr Martens!!!! Ouch, that sounds very sore - let us know what the midwife says. Ahhhh how amazing that you felt them moving, that's so gorgeous!! I can't believe I still can't feel anything other than general 'digestive' feelings. The sonographer said it's normal, but it does seem late in the day. Hahaa our dog is constantly wet as our nearest walk is the beach and he loves nothing more than swimming, so I think I've become well and truly nose blind to wet dog smell. He got the full treatment though - wash and a blow-dry with my hairdryer Grin.

@LokiCat it was a really cool scan - they were looking so, so babyish! Totally get you on the ending of The Capture - cruel!! Sorry to hear you're suffering with nausea so badly, the first trimester is rough (or was in my experience). But the good news it (in most cases!) won't last the whole pregnancy.

@MrsR16 when are you due? It's going to be such a magical Christmas this year!!

@thumper59 have you discussed your birth preferences with her yet? Thanks - the dog washing was a success - I can't stop sniffing him now. Mmmm oaty dog shampoo Grin.

@BabySquid check you out - they look great! Bake off next year?!?!

@ELW85 hopefully your day in Glasgow will be a good distraction. And anytime anxious thoughts pop up, just try and remind yourself that the results you got back are low risk, so the odds are very (very!) much in your favour.

@MrsH497 Have a fab time in Devon! Hopefully work whizzes by. Not sure what else to recommend as I've stuck to pregnacare out of habit. All the supermarkets do a version though - could try one of them? Like @ELW85 said, I found eating something (small and plain) really helped with the nausea. Crackers and potatoes worked well for me.
