Growth scan went really well! Twin 1 has done a full flip since 20 weeks and is now breech but twin 2 is still head down. I’ll be on that birthing ball tonight! T1 was sucking his thumb the whole time. Currently measuring 1lb 10oz and 1lb 9oz so bang on with each other! Just waiting on the consultant now (this bit always takes ages!) but sonographer was really happy with everything she saw :)

@ELW85 Good luck today!

@MrsR16 Ahh it was you! It’s changed my life! Didn’t have any burn or reflux in bed last night either!!

@PippaPug Oh no! Have you managed to get it sorted?

@purplefig Ha mum was actually really good! She was absolutely fascinated by it. She went to my sisters 4D scan but hasn’t seen a medical once since she has us! She couldn’t believe how much they could see. Oh what a pain about mat allowance!!! Why can’t people just apply a bit earlier?!

@Larrydavid I cry at everything now, a particularly emotive advert will set me off!! I’ve heard of others having a weak cervix and it’s quite an easy fix I believe, I think they do a little stitch if needed? I could be wrong though! I’m sure the consultant will go through it all :)

OP posts:
Larrydavid · 06/11/2019 11:55

@Lemonysherbet oh no - you poor thing. Go home if you can - being ill at work isn't fun! Has your doctor prescribed anything to help with the sickness? It sounds like you've got it bad. I've been lucky - nauseous all the time but not actually being sick. Take care of yourself x

@MrsEG he mentioned a stitch! Hopefully it'll be fine - I couldn't remember the procedures I had during my hospital smears but I don't think they ever took a biopsy- and I think that's what makes it weak. They also want to check me over because I have a history of endometriosis and fibroids but hopefully that's all under control! As for emotions, I've had this weird thing since being pregnant where something will make me really laugh and I then I start crying - like hysterical laughter crying. I look insane. My boyfriend finds it amusing because he knows but to everyone else I just look like a mad woman! Good luck on the ball - glad your scan went well!

MrsR16 · 06/11/2019 13:34

@purplefig yeah, I think I'm going to have to be done now until after I go on mat leave! My bosses are fully understanding and are amazed that I've kept going this long! 😂

@Larrydavid I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking that this week is dragging!!

@Lemonysherbet definitely go home! Being ill's rubbish at the best of times but when you're pregnant, it's just ten times worse...

@MrsEG fab news!!! Glad everything's well with the bubbas! 😊 and I'm also glad I could help with the heartburn! I'm suffering bad today with it...

BostonFern · 06/11/2019 15:18

@cupcakesandglitter I know, I couldn't believe they basically said we wouldn't get a pillow unless we took our own! Re food-the food from the main restaurant seems to be better than the little cafes, they'll let you take it away in a container too.

@Fivebyfive2 sounds like baby is making a move in the right direction. I've also heard good things about the spinning babies website.

@LokiCat the bf guru was fabulous, I'd really recommend going to see your local one antenatally if possible, I feel a lot less anxious now-it was a drop in clinic with other mums bf there too, so it was really helpful to see how they feed too.

@Larrydavid glad the appointment went well and that they're being thorough about your cervix.

@MrsEG great news on the growth scan, hope the consultant also goes well.

@thumper59 hope all is progressing well for you!

So I'm 37 weeks today! Had a few days where I've had waves of back pain in the mornings, and I think I might have started to lose some of my plug today. Starting to seem more and more real!

PippaPug · 06/11/2019 15:41

@MrsR16 - the week is half way done at least! I hope the rest of your week is going better and less stressful then the start of your week!

@cupcakesandglitter - it’s lovely having the scans but it does set me a bit on edge before, I get myself so anxious - I just need a tv in my stomach like those teletubbies so I can see what’s going on at all times! I’m having a craving of m and s chocolate covered pretzels - I think it’s the combo of the sweet and Savoury! How’s the itchy boobs? Hopefully calming down? I found if I got to hot it was made worse.

@MrsEG - isofix is the best thing ever! Ours are also isofix, I wouldn’t get ones with straps - to much user error otherwise. How are you sleeping, any better? Really pleased the scan went so well! You see the consultant a lot don’t you? I am not due to see the consultant till Jan I don’t think!
It’s hard for the in laws but hopefully they understand and won’t cause any issues - do they use what’s app - can you have a family what’s app group and send them photos so they are included that way?

@thumper59 - oooooh exciting! Isn’t it your birthday tomorrow as well and potentially your first as a Mummy!

I have twinged my back 😭 I have no hot water or heating and the radiator Is still leaking and waiting for the plumber still....
I then rung wayfair where we got our chest of drawers from - we ordered a white unit and 95% of it is white with one of the major pieces is oak - so it is sitting in our lounge waiting and has been for the last 4 weeks, it was due today and low and behold it’s not being dispatched till the 18th of November 🙄 after me being very grumpy saying it would be almost 2 months sitting in the lounge (as after it’s dispatched it takes another 10 odd days to arrive) they have refunded 20% of the unit.....which will now be going straight to the plumber!

@BostonFern - are you the next to give birth on the thread? So exciting! A teeny baby right before Christmas!

MrsH497 · 06/11/2019 16:02

Hey ladies apologies for my absence ended up in hospital yesterday with dehydration due to HG. Lots more medication to sort this as I wasn't keeping water down 😩

In good news had our 12 week scan and all is good ❤️ EDD 18/5/20.

Hope everyone is doing ok I'll catch up with the posts from last few days x

purplefig · 06/11/2019 16:27

@MrsEG so glad it went well and your mum enjoyed herself too. FWIW my yoga teacher said last night that babies routinely flip all over the place and it's only really a concern from about 34 weeks. Though guessing it might be different for twins as less room to flip back?! Yeah, mat allowance is a mega pain in the butt. There's every reason I should get it, but still, not having it confirmed until the baby is potentially here is a bit terrifying to be totally honest.

@BostonFern ahhh no way are you 37 weeks! That's flown by!

@MrsH497 sorry to hear you're having a rough time at the moment, HG sounds like an absolute nightmare. Fab news scan went well and lovely pic.

@PippaPug that sounds dreadful - if it's still leaking can you not get someone out on an emergency call out?

BostonFern · 06/11/2019 16:36

@PippaPug oh no, hope your back isn't too painful and you get the bits around the house fixed/sorted soon. Yes, I think I'm the next one due after @thumper59 !

@MrsH497 sorry you're suffering so much with HG. What a lovely scan photo though!

@purplefig I know-woke up with a big smile this morning, can't believe baby is now at full term!

MrsEG · 06/11/2019 17:56

@Larrydavid Fingers crossed all will be okay! Ha I do the hysterical crying, the worst was after our scan when we found out the sex, I couldn’t even speak - I’m sure the receptionist thought I had lost my mind!!

@MrsR16 Heartburn is horrid isn’t it?! I’ve never had it in my life before pregnancy! She did say today that one twin is high up and one is low down so they’re ‘squishing you all over’ so I guess that explains the heartburn, rib pain and constant need to pee!! How are you feeling, is work any better?

@BostonFern Thanks lovely. 37 weeks! You’re officially full term :) Come on baby!!

@PippaPug I love Isofix! My sister drilled it in to me to get Isofix seats!! Yeah I see the consultant every month, but I don’t see any midwives - I’ll just go to a Sonographer and then the consultant. She’s really lovely though, and she was amazingly reassuring today. We went through all sorts! She’s very pleased to hear I’m finishing work before Xmas too, and she said ‘all you’ll do now is expand!’ Haha! Oh hun it sounds like you’re having such a rubbish day! Treat yourself to a nice tea!!

@MrsH497 Sorry to hear you’re still feeling so awful, hope you’re being looked after! The scan pic is fabulous :)

@purplefig Yeah the consultant said the exact same today, and I said I do sometimes physically see them travel across my belly!! She said for twins they like them to get in formation by about 30 weeks as after that there isn’t much moving space. But that still gives me 5.5 weeks to shift him! The mat allowance really is awful, imagine a single mother for example who doesn’t have anyone else to rely on. It really irritates me - I won’t drag politics in to the thread again though haha!

Have good evenings ladies! Consultant was amazing today. Apparently as my twins were conceived naturally it’s less likely there’ll be a need for induction for growth reasons, which was nice to hear! She said they’ll keep a close eye on me once I’m in the third trimester but their sizes today were bang on target so clearly all my hunger and snacking is doing the job haha! It’s started to feel quite real now as my next appointment is birth plans...!

OP posts:
ELW85 · 06/11/2019 18:00

Evening all!

The scan went really well; he’s looking healthy and the consultant said we’re still low risk so can go into the birthing suite!
They confirmed I’ve got a high anterior placenta so it’s why it’s taken a while to feel movements but she said that I should feel him all the time from here on out.
He’s on track to be about 7lbs 9oz on the EDD 😬

@MrsEG - I’m so pleased your scan went well!
Do you get one a month now? So happy your Mum enjoyed it too!

@purplefig - what a pain about the mat allowance! Can you challenge it to get an earlier decision? Makes no sense at all!
You were right about the definition on the scan; incredible to see!

@Larrydavid - I’m currently existing on optimism 😂
I had to see a consultant today as I’ve had two cervical biopsies in the past and he said that based on the biopsies I’ve had (punch) I don’t need any further consultant treatment, so all good! If you do need support, they do give you a stitch but it’s really not an issue 😊

@MrsH497 - so sorry to hear about the HG, but great pic!

@PippaPug - I hope you’re ok? Sounds pretty stressful!

I hope you’re all having a wonderful evening!

Tropicana1 · 06/11/2019 18:28

@Larrydavid that's good that your midwife was asking about a birth plan - I asked mine some questions today (31 + 2) and she was just like, "oh we'll go over it all in more detail when you're 36 weeks"

@PippaPug how annoying about your radiator!!

@MrsH497 Poor you! Glad your scan went well though 😊

@ELW85 Lovely scan pic 😊

@MrsEG glad your growth scan went well 😊 had my 31 week Midwife appointment today and My bump hasn't grown in the last 3 weeks at all apparently! Even though I feel like I'm growing, now I'm paranoid that I'm not!
Now stood here taking pictures of my bump and trying to work out how much it looks like it's grown to me over the last 3 weeks 🙄😂

Catching up with TTC #1, thread 7!
ELW85 · 06/11/2019 18:48

@Tropicana1 - haha! More detail at 36 weeks? Just to cut it fine 😂
Did they say anything about if they’d expect you to grow anymore? Doesn’t sound like they’re concerned though 😊

MrsR16 · 06/11/2019 19:02

@BostonFern oh goodness that sounds promising! 37 weeks... crazy how quick that's gone!

@PippaPug today went super quickly and people seemed more chilled! Although there's a nasty illness going round the office which I'm desperately trying to miss out on sharing! Everything sounds a little bit chaotic at your house at the moment 😕

@MrsH497 I am so so pleased for you!! Congratulations! Baby looks wonderful xx

@MrsEG work did chill out a bit today although it was really busy! However, my big boss is off tomorrow so things will be even more chilled! I'm bloody exhausted at the moment 😂 but I'll get there! Just 12 more working days to go...

@ELW85 great scan picture!!

@Tropicana1 I'm sure that it gets measured differently every time! You've got such a beautiful bump 😊

cupcakesandglitter · 06/11/2019 19:27

No problem @ELW85 glad everything went well at the scan 😊 look at that little face 😭🥰

@purplefig I might give that a go!! I get really restless especially when my hips hurt after lying on one side - I'm normally a front/back sleeper so side is definitely a change for me 😂 I'll get the maternity pillow out and give that a try, thankyou ❤️ glad you slept well after yoga - that's pants though about the pay!! 14 weeks is such a long time!

@MrsEG beards 😂 maybe I might try one, my hips are getting so achey I definitely need one!! Yay glad the scans went well, 1lb 😭🥰 birth plans?! Good news about the induction but that's bloody mental 😂 how fast is it going!!

Definitely @MrsR16 except I have crashed and burned 😂😂 not long left until you're finished work for mat leave!! Are you winding down now or is it all systems go until you leave?

I haven't sorry @Larrydavid as I've never had a smear BUT I'm sure it's all fine and just procedure, fx it's just routine stuff and won't affect your pregnancy x

Oh @Lemonysherbet get some rest and look after yourself, pregnancy exhaustion and sickness is on another level 😩

@BostonFern Can't believe it's something we have to remember on top of everything else 😩 I think I'll be packing lots of snacks 😕 37 weeks?! Oh my god you're so close!!! Are you feeling excited? 😁

@PippaPug chocolate covered pretzels my god 🤤 did you get any?! I get what you mean about being nervous - I could do with being a teletubby too 😂 the boobs have definitely calmed down, now it's just the hip pain 😂 oh god that's a pain with wayfair, but I'm glad they've refunded you some of it. That's still a long time to wait though! Have you managed to find a plumber? Not long until DH is back!!

@MrsH497 oh no 😩 hope everything is okay - glad your scan came back well though and you have your official EDD! I'm putting my bets in now that it's a girl, looks like my scan 😂

@ELW85 ahh yay! Fantastic news, glad everything is well 😊 OMG I didn't know they could tell that about the weight! Glad you got tour answer about the placenta - have you felt him move yet? Sorry if I've missed it x

Well ladies I had an eventful night 😂 I couldn't breathe so had the ambulance take me to hospital... got there at 2am and didn't leave until after 10.30am with not much progression but they don't seem worried about the baby which is good. I didn't manage to get anywhere comfortable to sleep or sit so by the time the last doctor was speaking to me I was hallucinating and falling asleep 😂 got home and slept and woke up an hour ago, definitely a much needed sleep. Baby's rocking chair has arrived at my ILs so I will be opening and checking it all tomorrow which is exciting!

cupcakesandglitter · 06/11/2019 19:31

@Tropicana1 sorry your message onwards didn't load!! Isn't 36 weeks cutting it a bit fine?! Awwww look at that bump 😭 are they happy with it? I don't know anything about bumps but I'm guessing as long as baby is growing it's okay? X

ELW85 · 06/11/2019 19:52

@MrsR16 - thank you! It was lovely to see him again 😊

@cupcakesandglitter - honestly this thread moves so fast and I can never remember what I’ve posted compared to what I think I’ve posted 😂
I can definitely feel him move now, and he’s been really strong the past couple of days.
The sonographer said that once you feel them, you should always feel them as if they’ve started to make it through the placenta, it’ll always be that way. No need to think about patterns, just as long as it’s a daily thing 😊
Not long to wait for yours now!
I was so surprised at the detail in the scan - so lovely to see!
The weight was on a growth chart they put in my notes at the scan. I would have totally looked past it until it was pointed out!
And OMG are you ok?! Did they say what it was? Fantastic that baby is fine, but terrifying for you. X

cupcakesandglitter · 06/11/2019 20:49

@ELW85 I know the feeling 😂 that's amazing, glad he's nice and strong too! There's no mistaking it is there? 😂 just under two weeks for mine, I can't wait! Did they talk you through everything they were looking at? Organs etc? I'll remember to check my notes after 😊 I'm okay now thanks - they think potentially asthma because I had a similar episode last year (was given an inhaler but my GP refused to repeat prescription due to me not having asthma 🤔) but then they said pregnancy breathlessness is common so it could be that.. doctor tried to book me in for an X-Ray to check my lungs, saying that there's nothing wrong with them, all scans are fine when you're pregnant it's just something people worry about for no reason.... NHS website literally says at the top you should avoid them if pregnant 😂 so I promptly told him I'm not risking it! I've been given another inhaler and what I can only describe as an asthma bong 😂

My rocking chair has arrived! Highly recommend it, it's massive and super comfortable too! Not bad from ALDI!

MrsEG · 06/11/2019 21:33

@ELW85 So pleased that the scan went well and all looks low risk! That’s fab news :) Yeah I get so many scans, too many - the next is in a month at 28 weeks but then they’ll be every 2 weeks! Thankfully my workplace are very understanding haha (as I always have to see the consultant afterwards too!) She explained today it’s to check growth, but also just to keep an eye on me and babies as it’s harder to figure out if both are moving all the time, and I have higher risks of all the ‘scaries’ like GD and PE etc. But today all my vitals were tip-top - in fact my haemoglobin was ‘extremely favourable’ so no anaemia; babies aren’t eating all of my spinach!!

@Tropicana1 Did they say why bump hasn’t grown, could baby be tucked away at the back perhaps? 36 weeks seems to be cutting it fine to discuss the birth!! Maybe get your birth plan/preferences all written down in the next few weeks ready!

@MrsR16 12 working days! You’ll be in single digits in no time hah! Have you made any plans for your mat leave?

@cupcakesandglitter It really is going so fast! I don’t even know if I have any birth preferences yet until I know how they’re lying and what I can and can’t do! Need to read more of my twin book I think and skip to the scary ‘delivery’ section! Oh gosh you poor thing are you feeling better now??

Just went to yoga and now feeling wonderfully stretched and serene - I WILL sleep properly tonight, I will!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 06/11/2019 23:03

@cupcakesandglitter oh my god, are you ok now?!? I'm definitely on the wind down - my responsibilities have started being handed over which is awesome! 😊 exciting about your rocking chair!!

@MrsEG not any hard and fast plans, except going to see my mum on her days off I think! I'll be tidying the house (I'm desperate to get it straight before baby arrives!)

BabySquid · 07/11/2019 06:52

Hi guys, got back from Aus yesterday morning, what a flight!! My feet and ankles are swollen despite drinking body weight in water and walking up and down the aisles lots. Had an amazing time though and can't wait to get the visas started so we can move out there in a couple of years!
How is everyone doing?
Saw the posts about hip pain during sleep, I'm also a back/front sleeper so sleeping on my side is hard and making my hips really hurt. Going to get a pillow today, any recommendations? I don't want a full U shape as it'd take up too much bed space.
My bump has grown so much, on the flight out I was fine sitting in the normal seats, but coming back I had to have a front seat where they put the bassinets as I couldn't put the tray table down 🙈🤰🏼
I meant to post another pic while away but we were so busy... so here it is. This was taken on Saturday.
@thumper59 & @BostonFern I hope it's not long for you now. Can't wait to see baba pics 🥰

Tropicana1 · 07/11/2019 08:27

@ELW85 @cupcakesandglitter @MrsR16 @MrsEG thanks ladies. She didn't say why it hasn't grown, same position as last time. If the bump still hasn't grown in 3 weeks I'll have to have some growth scans to make sure the baby is all ok, but I can feel her move loads and the heartbeat is strong and steady so hopefully nothing too much to worry about!

@cupcakesandglitter god that sounds so scary, glad to hear you're ok!

@BabySquid welcome back!! I have a dreamgeanii pillow which is a half curve and it's definitely helped my pain!

I'm just going to make my birth preferences list anyway and then ask again at my next appointment at 34 weeks - glad you all agree that it seems ages to wait!!

purplefig · 07/11/2019 08:58

@MrsEG exactly! MA is also for people who can't get SMP from their employer etc., it's just such a shit show. Anyway! 😅 5.5 weeks should give him plenty of time to flip - hopefully yoga and your exercise ball will help? So interesting about them having a lower risk of induction for growth due to being conceived naturally too.

@ELW85 great news and lovely scan pic! I found finishing the 20 week scan such a relief 😅. Interesting they've given you an estimated weight already! Unfortunately nothing to do be done about the decision timeline - there's huge backlogs apparently. No idea why.

@cupcakesandglitter oh my god, what an eventful night! Were they able to work out why you weren't breathing? That sounds so scary. I hope today is a better day. And that your asthma bong helps 😂❤️

@BabySquid glad you had a great time in Oz! Can't help with the pillow etc as mine is a monstrously large U shaped one 🤣

@Tropicana1 yeah I think that sounds like a sensible solution. My midwife pointed out to me a page in the Mat notes specifically for writing down birth preferences.

Have a good day all x

ELW85 · 07/11/2019 09:09

Morning all!

I slept through til 5am today so feeling like a rockstar, haha!

@cupcakesandglitter - they kind of talk to you as you’re going and then you get a letter in your file talking about the measurements (head, femur, abdomen etc) and they do a commentary on the organs.
They really thoroughly check the heart, stomach, spine and brain and they tend to talk you through that.
Pleased your rocking chair is good and you’re ok - you could try your asthma bong on it 😂

@MrsEG - it’s fantastic that they’re monitoring you that much, totally necessary but also great peace of mind for you!
How was your post-yoga slumber? I hope you had a lovely peaceful night!

@Tropicana1 - definitely worthwhile having a go at your options now anyway! Even the sonographer was giving us some insight into ours yesterday as she thinks the midwife had missed loads. Great!!

ELW85 · 07/11/2019 09:11

@purplefig - cross post! 😊
It was a growth chart in my notes that I would have totally looked past, but interesting to see!
How are you feeling? The mat allowance stuff isn’t helpful but I’ll keep everything crossed for you that they get it sorted quicker!

purplefig · 07/11/2019 09:15

@ELW85 ooo interesting, I'll have to have a look in mine! And thanks - I'm trying to see it as a practice for not ruminating / worrying as there's literally nothing else to be done at this stage. I'm feeling pretty good thanks - back and hips are better with my new bed setup and using my standing desk a bit more. How're you doing? Woohoo for a "lie in" 🤣! I haven't slept through in months - do you think it's training for the newborn stage?!
