@SC0508 and @em39ma hoping both your cramping is doing something.

I’m in the wide awake club thanks to heartburn. And my brain is still in overdrive!

I hope everyone else is having a restful night.

Figuringitout · 04/10/2019 05:01

Oh @Em39ma - hope the next dose speeds things up a little. Try to focus on the fact that by the end of today you will (hopefully) be holding your baby. Will be thinking of you.
I’m in the wide awake club too - slightly achy back (but nothing happening) I feel like I did in the first weeks when I was frantically symptom spotting and on knicker watch. I’m feeling it much lower now - I’m hoping that the scan this morning might give me some answers about how soon I might go into labour.

Em39ma · 04/10/2019 07:35

Third dose in and seems to stopped the contractions completely.
Guess the next stop is the drip in 6 hours time.
Baby quite happy, so hopefully can get up and walk around in a bit.

secretlyhermione · 04/10/2019 08:07

Another one in the bad sleeping club. Woke up three times and just finding it harder and harder to go back to sleep.
Also sorry for the tmi but I seem to be rushing to the toilet after everything I eat to do a number two. This has been going on for a week now, I know that some say this is the clear out and you're body preparing for labour, but I have no signs but this bar some mild period style cramps sporadically. Has anyone else experienced this?

Slinkyreptile · 04/10/2019 08:07

@Em39ma you have come this far, onto the final hurdle. After walking around I would start to rest up to conserve your energy. Not long now for those newborn snuggles!!

@MrsNotNice with first delivery I had 2nd degree tear with stitches for a 6lb 15 baby but this time round with an 8lb 1 I only had the tiniest 1st/2nd degree and the midwife is confident it is fusing on its own so no stitches required.

All the ladies getting anxiety.. I wasn’t too bad until my waters broke and then it all became real and I felt incredibly vulnerable. My birth this time was once again the total opposite from what I had planned/imagined but as soon as baby arrived nothing else mattered 🥰

Got discharged yesterday afternoon and had the most amazing day with plenty of snuggles and visitors. Struggling a little with the after pains but after what I’ve just been through this is a walk in the park!! Even with broken sleep all through the night I feel amazing because any sleep I do get I’m comfortable. Not long until you all join me 🙌🙌

Slinkyreptile · 04/10/2019 08:12

@secretlyhermione this happened to me for roughly 2 weeks. Would have mild cramping then need the toilet then just woke up to my waters breaking. I now know the cramping was just a combination of needing to poo/ baby movements since he was low down. Sounds like you can’t be too far away now 🤞🤞

cattaxi · 04/10/2019 08:51

Morning! I puked walking back from school again today. So classy!

@Em39ma my mate swears that she got both her inductions going by walking loops around the hospital - especially up & down the stairs. If you aren’t strapped to a monitor, definitely go for a walk. I’m not the sure it’s the same everywhere - but when I was on the drip I had to be continuously monitored. They didn’t have wireless, so i was pretty immobile and found it quite frustrating. Stretch those legs while you can.

@secretlyhermione I’m having similar symptoms. A bit of a change after being constipated most of the pregnancy! I just assumed I’m running out of room.

Excellent news that you are home @slinkyreptile. Enjoy all the snuggles!

MrsNotNice · 04/10/2019 09:11

secretlyhermione I had the same happen a month ago for a while and they couldn’t find the cause and they put it down to anxiety causing loose bowels.

@Slinkyreptile that sounds lovely. Hope you are enjoying every bit of those early days. Your experience is reassuring. I also had stitches first time round and even though it wasn’t so bad but for some reason I feel like my body is so mashed and hasn’t yet healed this time round and I fear it would be worse because of that in terms of prolapse and tearing. But your experiences are reassuring. First pregnancy I was brand new full of energy and did all my exercise, this time I’m too busy juggling to be on top of the game. But hopefully my body knows what to do!

I’ve been struggling all night with a terrible headache/migraine. I woke up with it and it’s still going. I’m wondering whether I should go get my pressure checked. I don’t usually have migraines.

Maryrobinson81 · 04/10/2019 09:41

Hope everyone is ok.
Today have decided to re-arrange the children’s bedrooms, and swap some of the drawers and furniture round. My partner is home today so he said he would move everything for me. So I’m emptying and sorting drawers etc. It’s something that’s we have needed to do for a long time now but never have the time. I’m already knackered though and all the bending down is giving me evil heart burn. I’m also now starving. I had a massive bowl of porridge just 2 hours ago and I add extra protein to it to keep me filled up. But I’m so hungry all the time, I feel I need to eat every hour this last week or so, having to eat in the night to get back to sleep!! Body must need it i guess!! X

HJWT · 04/10/2019 10:20

@Maryrobinson81 My stomach was rumbling at 3AM so I know how you feel, now I am craving a sausage sandwich 😝

Reality hit last night watching OBEM knowing in 10/11 days I could be pushing a baby out 🥵

Its nice to know we hopefully will have next week to get final bits sorted! If baby doesn't end up making a surprise appearance before induction!

I was offered to be part of the Big Baby Trial yesterday! Anyone else heard of it?

I'm also a member of the crappy sleep club right now. I'm waking at least twice a night and can't get back to sleep. Always around the same sort of times that I wake up too 🤔

I've had the odd cramping and Brixton hicks, but nothing is moving yet. I'm just trying to carry on as normal atm and if it happens it happens. I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and my last was born at 39 weeks, baby before that was 40weeks so expecting another on time baby 🤞🏻🤞🏻 dreading going over xx

Frizzy1986 · 04/10/2019 12:25

@slinkyreptile oh the after pains.
I don't like the swelling and lochia. It sucks feeling "dirty" down there and not being able to clean up properly. It's the one thing I envy about a CS as I guess there isn't the swelling down there, but somewhere else instead.
I've not ventured outside yet, but it's miserable out, it's only day 3 and I'm still all achy. I'm dreading dh going back to work and ill have to do stuff as I don't feel ready for that at all.

My parents are visiting tomorrow though so I'm super excited about that.

I also need to keep an eye out for a channel 5 documentary filmed in the maternity unit. They were doing births and things I think during Aug/Sept as I'd seen the signs for volunteers, but they came round to do some photos of babies for the opening and closing credits while we were there so we will have to see if Orson made the cut!

Frizzy1986 · 04/10/2019 12:27

@Em39ma it won't be long until it'll all be over and you can have plenty of snuggles. Try and walk around but also sleep and rest as it's your last chance.

Anyone else with possible signs/contractions, I hope they continue.
I was only getting odd period cramps in the evening as I went to bed but they didn't turn into anything. And then all of a sudden it kicked off and he was out 12hrs later.
Def no more babies for me. After another tear it would be a def CS anyway, but I don't think I could go through a natural delivery again after the speed of this one.

HJWT · 04/10/2019 13:07

@Frizzy1986 Iv been a couple of times whilst they were filming and hoped they didn't catch my big bum in the camera 😂

secretlyhermione · 04/10/2019 13:37

@slinkyreptile Oh here's hoping that it is a sign!! Although if genetics play a role my mum went full term with both my sister and I so if I follow her pattern I'm in it to 40 weeks which I'm ok with as long as I don't go too much over! How many weeks were you when your baby was born?
Just woke up from my afternoon nap. I sleep so soundly because of the constant wake ups at night. We're having friends over for dinner so will start preparing that now.

Frizzy1986 · 04/10/2019 14:42

@HJWT 😂 that's hilarious. No idea what it's going to be called or when it will air.

Im going to venture in the car with dh to collect dd from school. Most nervous about weeing myself while we are there. Not clear on what bladder control I currently have which does scare me

MrsNotNice · 04/10/2019 14:48

Im going to venture in the car with dh to collect dd from school

Frizzy that begs the question, what happened to that giant poo Grin

Figuringitout · 04/10/2019 16:40

I’m just home from hospital. Had a scan this morning - to check fluid levels as growth has slowed. All is good, baby is happy and placental blood supply looks good. Phew! However, they have booked me for an induction on Monday - eeek. I had a stretch and sweep while I was there and apparently my cervix is ‘favourable’ and I’m now having fairly regular contractions... so fingers crossed the induction won’t be needed. In other news, they did my bloods again and my iron levels have risen enough for me to be low risk! I cannot tell you how happy that makes me - and I feel so much more relaxed about everything. So, a good day.
Been thinking of you @Em39ma - hoping things are moving for you too

MrsNotNice · 04/10/2019 17:32

Figuringitout ohhhhhh soooo happy for you congrats!!!!!!! Sounds like you might have your baby today or tomorrow Grin be ready!!

How was the sweep? Is it painful? I’m contemplating getting one. Did you ask for it?

And what did you do for your cervix to be “favourable”? Share your secrets!

homley · 04/10/2019 17:59

Hope you are getting on ok @Em39ma!

That is great news @Figuringitout ! How did you find your sweep? Hope your contractions continue and the induction isn't needed. Fingers crossed for you.

Aww @Slinkyreptile sounds like you had a lovely day :) reassuring to know that things don't always go the way you had planned but you can have a positive outcome.

I have been for a scan this morning and they have booked me for an induction next Friday when I will be 40+1 due to IVF and apparent big baby (measured at 8lb today! eek).
They are actually planning on using a different induction method which I have never heard of before - they will insert a catheter balloon into my cervix and filled with saline to put pressure on the cervix and hopefully get things rolling! Now I need to decide if I want to have a sweep at some point before next Friday...

Figuringitout · 04/10/2019 18:06

@MrsNotNice - not sure! I have been taking raspberry leaf, but just think it was time! Sweep was fine, a bit uncomfortable but not awful - apparently I am at 4cm so that’s perhaps why it wasn’t too bad.
My kids are out tonight with my parents - contractions are heating up a bit, so fingers crossed!!
Thanks @homley - I hope it gets going now and I have a baby before Monday - midwife seemed pretty hopeful.
Will keep you all posted if I can!!

Em39ma · 04/10/2019 18:19

Now on a break until 7am tomorrow. Contractions have all stopped.

homley · 04/10/2019 18:30

Hope you manage to get plenty of rest tonight Emma.

Frizzy1986 · 04/10/2019 18:33

@figuringitout yay. Its sounding really promising isn't it. Looking forward to more news.

@Em39ma sorry its all stopped. I know it must be frustrating, but you are on the final straight!

@mrsnotnice my in car deposit was cleaned up by dh when he left the hospital to go home on Tuesday. He drove home with all the windows open to freshen it up. 😂
The midwives gave him a bright yellow hazardous materials bag, some gloves and wipes. Thank god I'd been sat on a towel and a tena sheet on top so he didn't have to clean up, more collect the specimen!
I think it's all in our bin outside now.

Im having a bit of a stressful few days. Orson has jaundice and it seems to be getting worse. I'm waking him up to feed him to help ensure he doesn't drop too much weight, but I've not got a good feeling about it all. With dd we had to go back to hospital and it was a horrible experience that I really want to avoid. I feel a bit of a failure if he does get so bad that he needs hospital. No one else I know has ever experienced going through it, so if it does happen twice, then I must be doing something wrong! 😔

YorkshireIndie · 04/10/2019 18:44

@Frizzy1986 try putting the baby in the window. My brother had jaundice as a baby and my mum said that she used to put him in the window as the sunlight will help clear
