Massive congratulations @Slinkyreptile - he is just lovely. Hope you’re home quickly.
@Frizzy1986 - enjoy your bed! Make sure that you have lots of comfort food, decent TV and just sit and snuggle your gorgeous boy. Hope your recovery isn’t too painful - did you get any ‘Spritz for bits’? I would recommend!
Good luck today @Em39ma - hope it is smooth sailing and keep your eyes on the prize!
I slept pretty well last night. I watched a crappy rom-com with DH (who must have been feeling sorry for me to let that one slide!) and tried to chill out.
I think hormones got the better of me yesterday, and I am trying to be positive today and focus on the main thing: the baby coming safely.
As a lovely side note - my piles have gone into overdrive and I have had some really painful sensations in my cervix (enough to wake me up) so thinking baby has dropped a bit more. Fingers crossed something happens soon.

Maryrobinson81 · 03/10/2019 09:29

@secretlyhermione definitely get lots of cuddles with a newborn it’s well known to often start things off, something to do with a surge in hormones I think. It worked for my sister when she held my newborn, she had her baby just a couple of days later when she was about 38 weeks!
Hope everything goes well for you @Em39ma.
Massive congratulations @Slinkyreptile, he is a gorgeous boy! Hope you can get home quick.
Hi @sarebear1983!
@Newmumatlast my midwife told me after a sweep with number 3 it’s good to do extra walking, ball bouncing and sex if you can to help the sweep work and get you into labour.
Hope everyone had a good day, going for a walk on the beach as the sun is shining today. Youngest only at nursery until 11.45 on Thursdays so just enough time for walks and hot choc and cake in the cafe! Also need to deliver some eggs and pop to my mum and dads to bring the isofix base back, we keep forgetting it!
Then this afternoon I’m going to encourage my little one to watch a film snuggled in bed together I think!

secretlyhermione · 03/10/2019 10:47

@maryrobinson81 that sounds very promising!! If they let me hold her I will definitely cuddle her a lot!!

YorkshireIndie · 03/10/2019 11:51

Just been offered a sweep at my next midwife appointment. Can not believe it is only 2 weeks until my due date 😱

Positivity86 · 03/10/2019 12:29

Huge congratulations @Slinkyreptile! He looks beautiful. Enjoy every moment ❤️

HJWT · 03/10/2019 15:22

@Em39ma How are you getting on?

Well things don't half flip in a day do they? Had scan today and now being given a date for induction next week! Baby be here before due date x

Ohhh @Slinkyreptile - that photo is making me feel all the feels! Can’t believe ours will be here in 10 days or so.

That’s exciting @HJWT!

I think my nesting instinct has finally kicked in. Spent all day sorting out the pantry & utility so that things are more organised & we have somewhere to put the pram. Feeling the need to do every other room now! Luckily we don’t have much planned over the next few days.

Hope everyone has had a good day 🙂

MrsNotNice · 03/10/2019 16:17

cattaxi

Ah that reminds me I need to sort out the pantry !

My nesting mode has been all focused on my DS toys to make sure he has a lot of variety to stay occupied . I really need to put my energy In preparing the maternity things. And to get myself a pram!

I don’t know why but I’ve started getting really anxious about going into labour, loads of questions in my head like when will it be? where will I be? will we get there in time,?will the children be ok? What if there’s nowhere to park?
I feel really silly, I’ve done this 3 times before!! Anyone else like this? If feel I’m being ridiculous!

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 03/10/2019 18:56

@Maryrobinson81 yes!!! I've suddenly become very very anxious about it all. So much so that I am meeting a consultant in the morning to request a planned section.

shouldntbeonhereagain · 03/10/2019 19:15

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy, @Maryrobinson81 me too! Everyone including husband seems to think there is nothing to worry about because this is the fourth but if anything I am more nervous. It’s also 3 years since I’ve done this and I feel old now! Do they let you request section at this late stage ? I have at least finally done my bag which seems pretty empty! What do you think have I forgotten?!

HJWT · 03/10/2019 19:26

@Maryrobinson81 @Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy

Definitely, Now I am going to be induced I feel a lot more relaxed but thats not for another 11-12 days so could easily happen before 🤷🏻‍♀️ it freaks me out because I have 1 person to watch DD which is my DSis and she works full time in her own business so can't just drop everything she would need probably an hour notice and then 40 mins to get to us , not to mention we live 40-60 mins from the hospital! Hopefully if it does happen it will be in the night 🤣🤞🏻

I’ve also had the other 3 in the same birth centre in Bolton, 2 in the same room. This time we are in Cornwall. So that’s new too!

MrsNotNice · 03/10/2019 20:06

Since we are talking about labour worries I’m gonna face my fears and ask you ladies,

I had a second degree tear bordering on 3rd degree with my first due to the speed of the pushing (drip). My baby was very small and this time scans show the baby is doing much better weight wise.

I’m wondering, those of you who had a tear (I also have a prolapse), did it get worse after the second delivery??

I think I’m also very worried about the prolapse because I haven’t been good with my kegels

cattaxi · 03/10/2019 20:18

@Maryrobinson81 @Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy @shouldntbeonhereagain
Another one here feeling lots of anxiety the past few days. I lay awake last night thinking of all the things that needed doing to get the house in order. Having lots of thoughts about what will happen if I go into labour before my section date. And lots of thoughts about what if something goes wrong with my section.
I’m usually pretty calm & collected. One part of my job involves teaching mindfulness!! But I’m really struggling to stay zen at the moment. I think the arrival of October as the “due” month has knocked me a bit.

@MrsNotNice I need to have a good cull of ds’ toys, or at least move some upstairs to make room for some baby bits in the living room storage. He’s quite a particular pickle, so I keep putting it off to avoid the inevitable disagreement! I might get him involved in sorting some baby stuff this weekend and do it then. I’m sure he’ll be more amenable for his little brother than for me!
No idea about tears, but I can see why that would play on your mind.

I’m sure we will all be ok! A good few of us are doing this for the second time, so it can’t be that bad.... can it ....?!

Maryrobinson81 · 03/10/2019 20:30

@MrsNotNice my first was a small baby and I had to be cut, but second 2 much bigger and no tears just a slight graze I think.

I’m sure once labour starts everything will fall into place for us all.

Still so much I also want to sort at home like re arranging the children’s bedrooms and some more charity shop trips with toys.
But I’m also really enjoying a little time for myself. With my other mat leaves I’ve had toddlers. Then been back to work full time after so this has been really nice!

Em39ma · 03/10/2019 20:36

I had the gel put in at 5pm, apart from a bit of stabbing every now and then nothing happening.
They will put some more in at 11pm. So just a waiting game.
I seem to be the only one in to induce today.
At the moment myself and DH are watching the athletics

HJWT · 03/10/2019 20:51

@MrsNotNice Iv also noticed people with big baby's don't tear as much or as bad, I think because the baby is bigger they take longer to come out so you have chance to stretch!

OP posts:
Frizzy1986 · 03/10/2019 20:56

@mrsnotnice my dd was 6lb 5 and was quite fast and I pushed too hard and fast resulting in a 3b tear.
This time I pushed much better. Midwife thought I pushed beautifully and ds came out nice and slowly. Unfortunately 3a tear (so better than last time) and he was 9lb 2.
Again it was a fast labour all round. First slight twinge at 3am (but only started getting what i thought could be def twinges around 5am, 20 mins apart by 9:30am and born by 4pm with no pain relief)
Surgeon said she couldn't see any scar tissue from prior incident when doing the repair and I'm just hoping that if I get doing my kegels I won't have any long term side effects of 2 3rd degree tears.

Figuringitout · 03/10/2019 21:22

@MrsNotNice I feel worried about tearing too this time. I think it’s perfectly rational to feel anxious about birth as there are so many unknowns (no matter how many times you do it!) I’ve calmed myself down about not having a water birth but have spent today eating iron rich food just in case I can make a difference!! I’ve got a scan in the morning and a sweep scheduled for Monday. Hoping hoping hoping that I go into labour spontaneously before then.
I’ve never been this pregnant before Sad

SC0508 · 04/10/2019 03:31

Wide awake with my nightly cramping 🙁 I've stopped getting excited that it could be the real thing as feel my body is just getting my hopes up now!

How is everyone else doing?

@Em39ma how are you getting on? 😀

Em39ma · 04/10/2019 04:21

I’m having contractions according to the monitor, but they feel just the same as the braxton hix I’ve been getting since 20 weeks. So they are planning on a third dose of gel at 6am.
Sent DH home when they did the second at midnight, as thought at least one of us should get a decent nights sleep.
Got a splitting headache, not sure if from the gel or because it’s so hot up here.
