@Frizzy1986 How you getting on have they let you home yet?

Sorry everyone isn't feeling to great mood wise! I think it really takes a toll mentally & physically towards the end! I am lucky I am not struggling as much now as he is so low down I can breathe a lot better so thats a plus at least! 😌

Hi everyone!
I've been having a bad mental health day. I have been so hypnobirthing - zen for so long but woken up this morning feeling like I can't breathe with worry about labour. I haven't been able to eat anything.
I have history of anxiety and ocd but I'm not sure what has triggered me. I've asked if I can meet a consultant about a section to try and gain some control.
Does anyone have any experience in requesting something like this so close to due date?

Slinkyreptile · 02/10/2019 19:25

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy Well done you for recognising you are having trouble and getting a plan in place straight away. I haven’t personally requested intervention like this however just wanted to let you know you are doing the right thing 💕

I had PND after first pregnancy (anxiety on and off for years beforehand) and even though I am lucky to have a big support network I feel quite vulnerable and anxious about what’s to come and that’s with me already having an induction planned on Friday. Unfortunately with pregnancy comes hormones which makes our head a mess.

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 02/10/2019 19:35

Thank you @Slinkyreptile your reply really means a lot to me xxx

Maryrobinson81 · 02/10/2019 19:35

@shouldntbeonhereagain we have pretty much the same age gaps with children, I also have 3 who are 6 ( 7 end of October), 5 and 3!

homley · 02/10/2019 20:13

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy sorry to experience to add but hoping you can get back in your zen mode soon. I was completely focused and 'ready' up until a few weeks ago so hopefully it is just down to the due date coming closer. Let us know how you get on :)

shouldntbeonhereagain · 02/10/2019 20:40

@Maryrobinson81 It’s good to know there’s someone out there with similar gaps. How are your others looking forward to the baby? I have days when I am so excited about them meeting the baby .. and others when I think I will never have enough time to give them each what they need (attention wise). Hope your pregnancy is going well. How long have you got left?

Maryrobinson81 · 02/10/2019 21:05

They are all quite excited @shouldntbeonhereagain, but like you I worry about the attention they will/ won’t get with a new baby around, and how it will effect behaviour, school etc.
I am 38+2 and have been lucky and had a very uneventful pregnancy so far (touch wood).
I worry about being away from them any longer than I have to, and how they will be for my mum and dad when it’s time to have the baby. I wanted this one at home but my partner is dead against it, he can’t cope with anything like that ( he has anxiety problems).

SC0508 · 02/10/2019 21:15

Feeling very emotional tonight, everything is making me cry! Started to panic about labour and worry myself that I just can't do it ☹️ OH has been very supportive and keeps reminding me that it's all worth it in the end.

Just feel so fed up now, I know all the aches and pains will be over within a few weeks but right now I just can't seem to cope with being pregnant anymore.

I feel guilty feeling like this but right now just can't seem to help it.

MrsNotNice · 02/10/2019 21:21

Maryrobinson81 from your experience how did you manage the transition between 1 to 2, and then 2 to 3? How did you ease them into it ?

Maryrobinson81 · 02/10/2019 21:55

@mrsnotnice I found 1 to 2 quite easy, number 1 was only 17 months old they just seemed to fall into a routine that worked. She still had long afternoon naps which helped. People also wanted to take her out and spoil her when number 2 arrived.
I did find 2 to 3 harder. It was the logistics of having enough hands for children and bags etc, but we again soon got into a good routine, at this point the older 2 were both napping still. Baby slings and carriers are invaluable. I used to put my wrap on before we left home so didn’t have to faff about in a car park getting all tangled up!

HarryHarry · 03/10/2019 00:25

It seems like everyone is having a hard time! I’m 39 weeks today. This afternoon I had a hospital appointment to prep for my C-section on Monday. They told me I am not allowed to be on my own with the baby for the first 24 hours, but if my husband stays with me there will be no one to look after our toddler (who is not allowed to stay). The problem is that we live overseas with no family who can either babysit the toddler or stay with me and the newborn.

When they told me this I started to cry because it felt like everything was going wrong again. I had my heart set on doing things right this time to make up for the trauma of last time.

Fortunately we seem to have found a solution. It’s not ideal but it’s the best we can do.

Hope everyone is having a better time!

Em39ma · 03/10/2019 04:14

I’ve been awake since just before 2, thought if I try and stay off the iPad I might go back to sleep quicker. No such luck, so have given in.
Hopefully everything is good for me to go in today. I think having the extra day has made my head start way over thinking everything.

Slinkyreptile · 03/10/2019 04:15

Excuse the reality of how a baby looks when first born! Meet Finley, born at 2.17am 8lb 1

Went into maternity unit around 11 pm as contractions were happening every 5 mins however when examined I was only 2cm!! I couldn’t believe it considering how much pain I was in. Sent home and then was in unbearable pain and headed straight back in. Arrived at 20 to 2 and he was born at 2.17 so only had the option of gas and air. They had the bath running but his head was already in sight lol

@Em39ma good luck today hopefully all goes as glad this time around 😀

@Slinkyreptile Huge congratulations he's absolutely gorgeous, hope you and baby are doing well! Enjoy those mummy cuddles 💙

SC0508 · 03/10/2019 04:22

@Em39ma that meant to say as planned not god 😂

SC0508 · 03/10/2019 04:23

@Em39ma as planned not glad 😂 damn this phone really does hate me tonight

Frizzy1986 · 03/10/2019 04:52

@slinkyreptile aww how gorgeous and congratulations!
Hope the experience was OK and that you are home.

@HJWT I am home now thanks. Discharged at 2pm. Dd has met Orson and loves him to pieces already.
I'm now settling back into the reality of having a new born. No sleep and all the postpartum bleeding and swelling.

sarebear1983 · 03/10/2019 05:20

Hi everyone! Gutted I've only just noticed this thread! Congratulations to those who've had their babies Smile
I'm currently 37+4 with my 2nd. We have a 2.5 year DS who's keeping me very busy but I'm lucky that we have lots of support.
Hoping for a VBAC after an emergency c-section last time. DS was undiagnosed footling breech and I had paralytic ileus after the surgery so hoping for a more chilled labour this time if there is such a thing! Baby is at least the right way round this time at the moment!
Been awake since 3.30am after multiple trips for a wee! So not sure what use I'm going to be today! Hope everyone is well and managing to get some rest here and there xx

homley · 03/10/2019 05:42

Morning all
@Slinkyreptile huge congratulations to you he is beautiful! Hope you are both doing well.

@Em39ma, good luck today!

@HarryHarry oh no that's a stress you dont really need right now. Is anyone looking after your first whilst you go in to hospital or is it husband?

Trying not to read into every little ache but it is so hard not to. Now usually feeling uncomfortable on a night, had period pains and back ache last night, go to bed wondering if this could be it and so far it isn't. Definitely feeling more hormonal now too!
Back at hospital for 39 wk scan tomorrow.

Newmumatlast · 03/10/2019 07:26

Day 3 of maternity leave starts today - I'm 39 wks tomorrow - and I'm so bored already after 2 days even though I kept busy. Hoping baby comes early especially as I've had a membrane sweep however I am worrying about labour. Doesn't help that the sweep was really painful, I've had soreness and period cramping since and lots of stuff coming away every day including brown blood and my mucus plug went Tuesday then day after the sweep. It had felt like things were happening but now feel like I'm just aching and sore for nothing

YorkshireIndie · 03/10/2019 07:39

@Slinkyreptile look at those fingers 😍 Congratulations he looks perfect

Good luck @Em39ma!

Slept okay last night. Got the midwife this morning and DH and I are going out for breakfast before hand. Starting to think I am going to miss my bump but not going to miss having to watch out for movement

cattaxi · 03/10/2019 07:41

Good morning! A sore arm from the flu jab was added to the list of things keeping me awake last night. So annoying!
And I’ve just had a massive nosebleed. Woe is me!

Welcome @sarebear1983
Massive congratulations @Slinkyreptile! He’s lovely!
It does seem like these October babies are all arriving quite quickly.

Welcome @sarebear1983

Good luck today @Em39ma! Hope it all goes smoothly & quickly for you. They can take ages, so make sure you’ve got a book / magazines / Netflix to keep you occupied.

secretlyhermione · 03/10/2019 07:41

@Slinkyreptile welcome to the world Finley!! Hope you are both doing well
@homley I feel the same way! Period pains this evening and slept horribly but not nothing. I'm 38 weeks today so happy for him/her to come whenever!! It seems that all I'm doing now is symptom spotting :D
Today I'm visiting a friend who had her baby a few days ago, maybe I can get some practice in :)

Em39ma · 03/10/2019 07:54

@Slinkyreptile Finley is gorgeous.
I’m hoping for a quick birth after all these that are happening. But it’s my first and being induced, I’m going to think I’m it for the long haul.
