Good luck @Slinkyreptile and @Em39ma. Just love that all these babies are now coming!

@Frizzy1986 your little boy looks gorgeous

I'm 37 weeks today which feels like a huge milestone. So excited!

SC0508 · 02/10/2019 09:08

@Positivity86 I am 37 weeks today too 😀 glad I have reached this far as means I can now hopefully have my water birth!

Been up again all night with not being able to remove myself from the bathroom, really hoping this is my body doing the clearout before labour as I am struggling to even walk DS to school now and it's not even a 5min walk from our house 😂

Em39ma · 02/10/2019 09:33

Just had a call from the hospital. No room at the inn.
They haven’t started yesterday’s yet, so they gave me the choice. I can go, but would probably be waiting around until tomorrow anyway.
So I’m now going in tomorrow, at the moment I’m the only one booked in, so should be all good to go.

Maryrobinson81 · 02/10/2019 09:56

Oh sorry @em39ma that must be frustrating, but sounds promising for tomorrow! Hope you start with contractions soon @Slinkyreptile

Figuringitout · 02/10/2019 10:35

I’m about to have a moany rant - (feel free to skip this!) I’ve just had a really shit appointment with the midwife. Basically the long and the short is that my iron levels are now too low for me to go to the birth centre and so it seems a water birth is out of the question. No-one told me to up my iron dosage - I should have been taking more than was prescribed since my last blood test - (or that if it was too low I would have to go to labour ward) Now, apparently they will give me a blood test when I arrive and based on the results decide where I can give birth. Good luck with that when my last labour was 2hrs. Urgh. I feel like I have to now get my head around a completely different birth to what I had imagined and I feel stressed at the thought of going into labour now. So, instead of wanting this baby out, I now need to keep it in for another week to give my iron chance to recover. Both options seem pretty shit. Someone please reassure me that a non-water birth will be ok. I have only experienced labour in the water and am now feeling really quite frightened about the birth.

SunshineSophia · 02/10/2019 10:50

Aw congratulations @Frizzy1986!! He is gorgeous 😍😍 So glad you were able to make it in to the hospital in time! (DS has good taste in clothes lol I've bought those babygrows for my LO too 😋)

Best of luck for today @Em39ma!!

HJWT · 02/10/2019 11:59

@Figuringitout I didn't have water birth with DD and probably won't be allowed one this time either, its not bad just stay up right and get a tense machine 😁 xx

Or a tens would be better 😂

I just want my baby now....I'm so so tired. A completely different tired, exhausted and I'm not even having to do much now I'm on maternity leave. I just do school runs to 2 schools but using the car as walking is too much atm. Then I come home and do the odd bit of housework and errands. All everyday stuff we all do.....

Is Anyone else just done? I'm over 37 weeks praying this baby won't be much longer 🤞🏻 desperate to see what we have made 💗💙

gkeal3 · 02/10/2019 12:27

Just seen another baby has been born, how amazing...congratulations @Frizzy1986 xx

Maryrobinson81 · 02/10/2019 12:28

I haven’t had water births with any of mine @Figuringitout, because by the time I’ve got there there hasn’t been time. What I have had is on all fours with mine, and it’s been amazing each time, it seems to be my comfy position during labour and birth, and my partner passed them through to me as they were born. So you can still have great experiences.
I’ve had a midwife appointment today also, she’s going to put on my notes I have had fast labours and to go in earlier if I want! So that’s good.

Frizzy1986 · 02/10/2019 12:56

@figuringitout I was only in the water for 2 minutes. Most of my active labour was sat upright in the passenger seat of the car. I pulled my trousers and knickers down when we stopped at traffic lights leaving the motorway. God knows what view people around us were getting got the last 10 mins of the journey. It was definitely not the calming water birth I had planned, but I coped with it.
Just keep focused on the end result, keep going into kneeling, squatting or all fours positions, whatever is most comfortable.
There's still time for your levels to recover, but you don't want to feel stressed before it even begins so it's good to get comfortable with the possible scenarios.

cattaxi · 02/10/2019 13:02

Had my last midwife appointment this morning as next week will be the pre-op at the hospital. Blood pressure pretty low again, but nothing to worry about. Might be why I’m feeling so tired.

Hope you are ok @SC0508 and that’s it’s a sign if labour & not illness.

How frustrating @Em39ma. But better to wait in comfort at home than in the hospital. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

I’m having similar troubles @Figuringitout. My iron was low, then they forgot the re-test. Eventually they did it. Then no one checked the results. And now they’ve Finally checked them, no one is sending them to the gp to sort out prescription. Total nightmare, and I’m getting more & more symptomatic of anaemia every day, despite taking spatone.
I hope you get the birth you want.

Slinkyreptile · 02/10/2019 14:04

@Figuringitout with DD I had planned the perfect water birth but due to her arriving at 36+2 I wasn’t allowed one. I ended up having her with just gas and air as by the time I wanted an epidural I couldn’t sit still enough for it to be administered. Whilst it wasnt easy, i knew every contraction was a step closer to newborn snuggles and got through it. You are going to be absolutely fine no matter the outcome, it’s a scary time but you get totally caught up in the moment and that moment they sit your DC on your chest - well there is nothing in the world that could compare Smile

@Frizzy1986 omg the poo story is beyond hilarious, you poor thing!! Sorry to hear about you having the tear, but at least the hard bit is over with and all the newborn snuggles soon make you forget 😁 hope you guys are settling in well with your new addition

@Em39ma that’s rubbish about them being full, sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed contractions kick in, there’s still a chance your baby could appear before tomorrow

Thanks for all the support ladies, no contractions as of yet. Keeping extra busy doing things in the house to pass the time

HarryHarry · 02/10/2019 14:59

Water births aren’t even a thing where I live (not the UK). I always thought I would have one but it’s just not an option.

@slinkyreptile Are you in labour yet? How far along are you in your pregnancy? I’m so jealous that so many of you seem to have had quick labours in the past!

YorkshireIndie · 02/10/2019 15:40

Any baby news?

@Em39ma that is annoying but at least you do not need to hang around

Anyone putting off doing their hospital bag? Baby has stuff for the hospital but my end of stuff is lacking. Think I will go into labour and start packing

homley · 02/10/2019 15:46

@Frizzy1986 congratulations he is gorgeous! Hope you are both doing ok, you must have been so relieved to get inside the hospital!

@Em39ma wishing you all the best for tomorrow!

@Figuringitout I don't blame you for having a rant, I can only imagine how frustrating it has been for you. I hope you are able to get your head around a possible new birth and not be too worried when the time comes. What is your due date?

@SC0508 how are you feeling? Fingers crossed baby is on the way.

secretlyhermione · 02/10/2019 15:47

@yorkshireIndie I've pretty much done mine now although I keep forgetting things and putting it on a list so I feel like it's never fully done. Babies stuff is packed but my bit is still a bit lacking. I live in a country where you stay in the hospital 2-3 days no matter what type of birth you have as a first time mum I have no idea how much I will need so probably have overpacked haha. I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and my friend from my prenatal class was induced yesterday and had her baby the same day so it's getting very real! Although aside from two times this week that I've felt cramps I've felt literally nothing else so I think I'll be going to the due date or passed it with this one!

Positivity86 · 02/10/2019 15:51

@SC0508 oh fab, due date buddies...will be interesting to see when they make their appearance! I am also planning a water birth.

The bathroom trips sound promising though!
I've been bouncing on my yoga ball and have started eating dates...👍🏻

Slinkyreptile · 02/10/2019 15:51

@HarryHarry had a couple of contractions with mild discomfort but not started proper cramping yet. I’m currently 38 + 2.

Labour with my DD was only about 8 hours so I imagine once I get started should kick in pretty quick

MrsNotNice · 02/10/2019 16:43

Oh my part of me wants the baby to be here soon because my stomach is ripping apart but the other part of me wants it to wait because things aren’t yet perfect in terms of baby preparation and I’m struggling to find the time and energy for it all.

@Figuringitout with my first I hanged my hopes on water birth and ended up having to stay out of water because of the drip which was needed due to DS being a concern. Nothing worked out how I wanted it. But thankfully I had a plan B which was a tens machine and a hot water bottle and my DH massaging my hips and in all honesty this time round I feel like I would like a water birth but dont mind if I don’t because it was well managed with those three items on all fours or leaning forward of course

SC0508 · 02/10/2019 16:51

Feeling a lot better have managed to remove myself from the bathroom today which has been fantastic so really hoping it isn't a bug, had a few moments throughout day of feeling sick but nothing has come of it.

Even managed to take the dog on a 45 minute walk, put headphones in and just walked but regretting it now as my lower back is in so much pain!

Always seems to be at night time I start to get pains and the last few days every time I go pee I feel there is a pop but nothing comes of it. I am so ready for this baby to arrive now 😂 OH wants it to happen so I shut up!

Figuringitout · 02/10/2019 17:35

Thanks everyone - I’ve had a good cry and feel a bit better about it all now. I know that the main thing is getting baby here safely, I just had it in my head that I would give birth in the water like my last two - so it was a bit of a shock this morning.
@homley - my due date was on Monday so I’m 40+2 today which I think is also adding to my emotional state!
Anyway, had a quiet afternoon and planning a bath and an early night.
@SC0508 - hope you manage to get some rest tonight
@Em39ma - good luck for tomorrow - hope they have a space and it all goes smoothly
Looking forward to hearing of everyone welcoming their babies

Em39ma · 02/10/2019 17:39

Had a good nap today, actually been a really nice chilled day. So another upside to having the extra day. Though I am really ready for her to make an appearance.
I normally get tightenings in the afternoon, but nothing today.

shouldntbeonhereagain · 02/10/2019 17:48

Hello everyone. Congratulations to those who have had their babies! 38 weeks now with number 4. Others are 7,5 and 3.My youngest has turned into a terror over the last few days which is worrying ! Feeling pretty fed up now and getting that thing where time slows down / days on repeat. I can’t bring myself to actually pack my hospital bag which is weird - anyone else got that mental block?! Everyone seems to think it should be a walk in the park this time , but if anything I am more full of anticipation than ever !
