It seems that most of us ladies are getting pretty close to full term. Just to make you aware that I wanted a water birth last time but couldn’t due to DD being 4 weeks early. As far as I’m aware though as long as you go past 37 weeks I think it is then you should be fine given that one is available 😁 keeping in mind this is just in my area, might be different rules elsewhere. I’m kinda tempted to try for one myself this time round given that I was so desperate for one last time but it’s the thought of all the nasties floating around beside me that kind of puts me off! Even though it would be my own fluids haha x

userabcname · 27/09/2019 19:31

Good luck @SRK16! Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight.

cattaxi · 27/09/2019 20:45

Hope everyone is ok tonight?
For those worrying about busy wards. When I went in on Wednesday, the MAU was jammed. But labour Ward was empty! So they ended up seeing me on there. Dh nearly had a heart attack when he went to the shop & came back to a message saying i’d Been taken to labour ward 😂 I guess it’s really the luck of the draw on the day.

The school day goes so quickly, doesn’t it @Frizzy1986. I’m sure 3pm arrives pretty much straight after lunch.
I feel much better after ticking that stuff off my to do list.
Ds was fascinated by my whooping cough jab. Watched it all up close. Hope your flu jab is ok. I’m getting one on Wednesday.

That does sound promising @Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy. Hopefully you won’t have to wait long for those lovely newborn snuggles & head sniffs.

Good luck tomorrow @SRK16. I bet you are feeling all the emotions tonight. I’m sure I’ll be an emotional wreck the night before my section. Defo take your pillow if it will be comforting.
All the best - will be thinking if you 💐

Hope you get a decent sleep tonight @Em39ma.
In fact, I hope everyone gets a decent sleep!

YorkshireIndie · 27/09/2019 22:39

Evening. Fell asleep and woke up to brush my teeth and now am wide awake. Might move into another room to watch something. Can not believe that I am nearly 38wks. Really need to get some sleep as I am on grandma duty tomorrow.

Em39ma · 28/09/2019 01:41

I’m awake, but given in tonight and just taking paracetamol every 4 hours.
Just taken my second lot, so will give it half an hour and then try to go back to sleep. Pain is there but not too bad. Not keen on taking paracetamol to much as they can make me sick after awhile.

SRK16 · 28/09/2019 04:18

Managed 3 hours of broken sleep. Now wide awake, so excited/nervous. Have to get up in half an hour so no point trying to doze off again. Will update later 🤯

Newmumatlast · 28/09/2019 05:28

I'm 38 weeks and thought I'd had a bit of a spout of painful braxton hicks last week when I was unwell this week that's settled to nothing however the last couple of days I've been really achey. Woke up this evening as a bloody daddy long legs landed on me and I had period type pains but at a mild level. It seems it's my bowels (lovely I know). Wondering if that's because its nearing the end. So tired but cant get back to sleep

Em39ma · 28/09/2019 05:56

@SRK16 good luck. Enjoy those first cuddles.
Not really been back to sleep, nothing to do with the pain, just awake.
37 weeks today, strange knowing I only have 4 days left. Though I doubt she will be out before Friday, having read a few stories about first baby inductions. They all seemed to take around 3 days.

Frizzy1986 · 28/09/2019 06:21

@srk16 so super exciting. Hope it all goes well and you have a good recovery.

@Em39ma try and be positive. I'm trying to think of inductions in the same way as spontaneous labour.
I was always told that your first is apparently slow, with a few days of latent labour, then expect around 6 hours+ of established labour when contractions will be very regular and finally up to 2hrs of pushing.
My first was a few days of latent labour (only realised this in hindsight), about 90 mins established labour and 20 mins pushing.
I definitely didn't fit the standard and it will be the same with inductions too. Who knows how your body will react until it all starts.

@cattaxi yes the school run comes round faster than you think. It's quite nice when dd has her say at after school club (she loves it so much that we've told her we'll let her go once a week). It means I don't have to collect her until 5pm so it gives me some nap options 😂.

@Newmumatlast I've had some dull aches low down overnight too, but I also think it's just gas or something. It's like TTC all over again. Symptom spotting and all that.
I keep hoping that it is something, yet know it really isn't, but still hoping that it is. Its like I'm having a weird conversation/argument with myself.
"Ooo is this a cramp"
"it's probably wind"
"oo that was definitely a dull ache"
"you're reading too much into it, it was nothing"
"Ooo I think this could be the start of labour"
"don't be silly, it's not, you are getting your hopes up only to be disappointed"
I don't like the mess it makes in my head.

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 28/09/2019 08:57

@SRK16 good luck today!!!

Am I the only grump getting fed up with 'any baby news' messages. I've been getting them for ages Inspite of not being due for another week. I had two already this morning and it's not even 9am yet. I know they are well meaning but gahhhhhhhhhh!!!

HJWT · 28/09/2019 09:10

@Em39ma I was induced with my first at 38 weeks, had the pessary put in at 10AM, they broke my waters at 10PM and she was born at 4.03AM! So not even 24 hours xx

OP posts:
Frizzy1986 · 28/09/2019 09:17

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy yes, I most definitely am. I know people are just being nice and checking on me, but its the 'have you popped yet', 'any news', 'come on baby we want to see you'
Pretty sure you don't want this baby out as much as I do. Once it's born I'll tell you.

2 of my friends even told me that they want me to tell them when I go into labour so they know. Ummm no.

I have 2 other friends who haven't asked at all. They've literally messaged sporadically saying 'I hope everything is going OK and that you are alright. Thinking of you and here if you need us' which is a much nicer way to show you care.

AngeIoMysterioso · 28/09/2019 09:32

Good luck today @SRK16!

I had a pretty awful day yesterday... arranged to meet my DM at 2pm and go shopping so that she’d STFU stop complaining about how left out she feels and how difficult it is for her that DH and I are living at PILs... walking to get the bus and tripped and went flying, was falling forward so I twisted to avoid landing on my bump and came slamming down on my left elbow. DM had gone wrong and was lost so I walked to GP Surgery and sat in there waiting to see a Dr whilst giving DM directions on the phone... saw Dr and got bump checked out, all fine thankfully but my elbow is v. swollen and sore. Oh and my favourite leather jacket now has a huge hole in it...
Eventually Mum got to me (2 hours late) and we made it to the shopping centre an hour later because we got stuck in rush hour traffic, so by the time we’d eaten something we had less than 2 hours to look round the shops and most of that time was spent looking for somewhere for DM to sit, so I didn’t end up getting anything I actually needed. Eventually got home just before 10pm...

And then some time around 3am I woke up having just wet myself. So had to wake DH up and ask him to help me change the sheets, and then lay awake for several hours worrying about how I’m gonna tell MIL that I’ve ruined her mattress... fun times!

YorkshireIndie · 28/09/2019 09:50

@AngeIoMysterioso sounds like you had a tough day yesterday. I hope your arm/elbow feels better soon.

John Lewis is doing a 20% off baby nursery and bedding range if anyone is interested

Frizzy1986 · 28/09/2019 10:38

@AngeloMysterioso that sounds like the worst day!!
It's over now and time to rest up and let that elbow get better. Treat yourself to an awesome jacket as well to feel better.
I'm sure PIL won't mind about the mattress, it's not like you did it on purpose. Plus they've had a child so know what things get like.
Was it definitely wee?
I've been sleeping on tena lady pads for a few weeks, just in case my waters go at night. We can't afford a new mattress (we've had ours for 12 years and it's in an awful state but too pricy to replace atm)
I've also got a pad in the door of the car to sit on when we go to hospital. I don't want the seats getting stained.
I had a friend whose heated seats broke as her waters leaked into the electrics even though she was on a towel.

cattaxi · 28/09/2019 10:45

Morning all! I hardly woke up for a wee last night. Bliss! But I woke up this morning feeling really dehydrated & headachey. Can’t win!

@AngeIoMysterioso that sounds like a really shitty day. Glad you didn’t get seriously hurt. Rest up today.
I’m sure your mil will be ok. She’s had a baby at some point, obviously, so should understand.
I’m planning on sticking a few towels under the sheets this weekend. When my waters went last time, they were spectacular!

Hope everyone else is ok today. We’ve not got much planned, which is lovely!

Em39ma · 28/09/2019 12:15

@AngeIoMysterioso sorry about your day yesterday. We all get days like that. Hopefully your DP is spoiling you today.
@HJWT yours was quick, I hope mine goes the same as yours. I will be nearly 38 weeks, so hopefully she is ready to come and meet us all.
@Frizzy1986 I haven’t told anyone about the induction, except close family because I don’t want the constant messages.
My neighbours know I’m going in next week, but that’s because if the see strange people going in an out they know why. Also we are staying with me parents after, so they also know the house could be empty for a couple of weeks.
I’m just cooking dinner while DH and DF are making the alcove into a wardrobe for us in our spare room.

bethD98 · 28/09/2019 12:44

I'm due October too ! Currently 38+1 due on the 11th ! Xxx

Frizzy1986 · 28/09/2019 12:47

Welcome @bethD98
Hope you enjoy all our rants, lack of sleep, pains, amusing "incidents" and complete desperation for our baby's to arrive!

Slinkyreptile · 28/09/2019 15:50

@AngeIoMysterioso sorry to hear about your rubbish day, sounds awful. Today is a new day and fresh start 😁

Today is my birthday, went to local farm park with DH and DD which is a relatively big place. Was secretly hoping all the walking would encourage baby’s exit but not even a pinch haha

@Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy Those messages are incredibly frustrating!! I know people mean well and are just looking out for us but when you are so desperate to meet little one it doesn’t help one bit lol

YorkshireIndie · 28/09/2019 16:15

Happy birthday @Slinkyreptile!

I know I am jinxing myself but if baby can hold off from coming until Monday that would be great. Got to do the final last minute things for the house tomorrow before we complete on Monday. Baby can come Monday just not tomorrow as everyone else who could help is working or away 🤭

Slinkyreptile · 28/09/2019 16:32

Thank you @YorkshireIndie Smile

Keep your legs crossed and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for him/her to stay put until Monday, meanwhile you can send positive vibes my way that this terror makes his exit ASAP 😂

HJWT · 28/09/2019 17:18

37 weeks today! Just had some more pineapple, there is so much pressure down there at this point I feel constipated 🥴

Baby being engaged clearly means nothing as its been over a week and nothing!! When people see me now they say Aw Bless!! 🙄

OP posts:
HJWT · 28/09/2019 18:03

DH thinks iv lost it because I was upset looking at the Halloween outfits in Tesco!! Not knowing whether he will be here or not to wear one 😂😂😂

OP posts:
Slinkyreptile · 28/09/2019 18:06

@HJWT apparently head can be engaged but can go up and back down again. Good luck, the struggle is real!

37+5 and desperate for cramping to start
