Figuringitout · 24/09/2019 23:12

@CarysRed - thinking of you. Hoping to hear a lovely update (and see a pic?!) soon

YorkshireIndie · 24/09/2019 23:39

Good luck @CarysRed

@AngeIoMysterioso I have the breastfeeding session tomorrow - is it worth going?

Em39ma · 25/09/2019 03:43

@CarysRed hope you are having a good labour and baby is well.
Well I’m awake again. Hip is so sore. Nice knowing I only have a week left of this.

Positivity86 · 25/09/2019 06:32

Good luck @CarysRed! I hope all goes well 💐

HJWT · 25/09/2019 06:51

@CarysRed aw good luck sweet! Hopefully baby is already here ☺️

Sorry iv been MIA guys had a real shitty couple of days! The nausea has been like a smack in the mouth!! Then I couldn't stop coughing. Hardly slept at all last night then woke up screaming with cramp in my leg again so poor DH was up to 🤦🏻‍♀️

Really need this to be over soon can't cope with all this pain 😂

Amazing news @CarysRed keep us posted Flowers

CarysRed · 25/09/2019 07:39

Baby Samson is here!. He arrived at 5.07 this morning, he weights 5lbs 13oz and is doing amazing. I had to have an EMCS, so will be kept in for monitoring, but as long as he manages to keep up with his feeding then we shouldn’t be here for too long. (Look at his lips!!)

Frizzy1986 · 25/09/2019 07:46

@Em39ma you're really going through it with sleep and hips aren't you. It won't be long now and then hopefully all the pains will dissappear as if by magic.
I was awake a fair bit with aching hips but managed to get back to sleep.

@HJWT sorry the nausea is back with such vengeance. When are you due? It's the final stretch now so at least there is an end in sight. I know that doesn't really help as it feels like an age away and it drags but you've made it this far.

I feel I've generally been luckier than a lot of you, yes I've had hip pain that causes me issues, but by no means as badly as others.
I just want it over as I'm a beached whale right now, can't get comfy, and want to be able to use the birth centre so that means avoiding induction. I think that's my fear more than anything else.

Frizzy1986 · 25/09/2019 07:47

@carysred wow huge congralations and what an excellent weight! Glad you are OK and look after yourself. Enjoy!!

HJWT · 25/09/2019 07:50

@CarysRed aw beautiful congratulations mama 👶🏻🥰 xxx

@Frizzy1986 I am due the 19th! He is already engaged though so I am hoping he is just letting me get my hair done and then will come out 😝 xx

@CarysRed - Huge Congratulations - he’s a little cracker! Hope you are able to get back home quickly to enjoy getting to know each other.

secretlyhermione · 25/09/2019 08:36

@CarysRed congratulations!!! What a sweetheart!!

Sorry to hear some of you ladies are struggling with nausea and hip pain! I've been fairly lucky that I haven't been plagued with that in this pregnancy, I mainly wake up to wee but am finding it easier to fall asleep after so hope it continues! Baby seems very comfortable in there so I doubt I'll be going before my due date but who knows?
Really enjoying my mat leave. Went to the cinema yesterday and have lots of plans for dinner out with friends etc, making the most of my freedom while I still have it!
Friend recommended I invest in some good nursing tops for the postpartum period, anyone have any recommendations for brands/where to buy decent postpartum tops for bfing?

Figuringitout · 25/09/2019 08:36

@Em39ma - I was awake in the night again, kept getting backache which I was wondering whether it might turn into something. It didn’t. I’m hoping to have this baby at the weekend - but it seems pretty comfy still (and I am quite liking the peace and quiet!)

Frizzy1986 · 25/09/2019 09:04

@secretlyhermione I used breast vests last time. They are vest tops that only go to under your bust at the front. Essentially turns any top you have into a breast feeding top as it covers your tummy etc when you lift your top to feed.
I found it much easier than finding specific nursing tops as I just couldn't afford decent ones that werent drafty or poorly fitting.
Also meant I didn't have to keep buying other size tops as my tummy returned to normal and once I was in my pre pregnancy clothes I could still use the breast vest underneath a t-shirt.

@HJWT well hopefully you'll get your hair done and then baby will hear your calls and will arrive. I'm sensing that there's going to start being a spate of babies arriving as a lot of people are past 37 weeks now so anything is possible.
Don't worry, I'll still be sat on my gym ball, watching, waiting 😂

@figuringitout I've been feeling weird this morning. More heartburn than normal and a strange discomfort. I'm hoping it manifests as something, but I'm not expecting it to at all.
I've planned to make a no bake rolo tart today to scoff my sorrows away 😂

I also spent a few minutes reminding dd of all the possible scenarios when mummy goes to the birth centre (if I say hospital she corrects me to birth centre!)
Wanted to remind her that Granny could be outside school to collect her instead of me, or she could wake up with granny at the house instead of me and dh or we could wake her in the middle of the night and meet granny at the hospital for her to go home with them.
Just to make sure she hasn't forgotten.

cattaxi · 25/09/2019 09:10

Congratulations @CarysRed! He is gorgeous. Those lips! Well done you. Glad you are both doing ok.

Sorry you’re feeling rough @HJWT. Hopefully it passes soon.

Have a look at the can I breastfeed in it Facebook page @secretlyhermione. Lots of great ideas for feeding friendly stuff.
I used to just layer a loose top over a vest & use the “one up one down” method.

Hope everyone has a good day. Ds is still poorly & is now puking everything. Thankfully I’m not feeling too bad and my mum is back from holiday, so can sit with him while I pop to the midwife later. He’s so sad that he can’t go to school, bless.

Figuringitout · 25/09/2019 09:38

@Frizzy1986 - I’ve done exactly the same with my two this morning - reminding them that they might wake up with Granny here or that she might be collecting them from school. They are both so excited though - my eldest daughter kisses my bump goodnight and says, ‘hope you are a baby in the morning!’
I’m feeling ok this morning - going shopping with DH for last minute bits and then I am going to put the side sleeper up.

Maryrobinson81 · 25/09/2019 09:56

Congratulations @CarysRed he is beautiful! Hope you can get home soon as possible.
I’m going to try and prioritise my huge list of things I want to get done over the next week or so. I might categorise them by room or something then each list looks shorter haha. Also fed up of this weather, I thought I might have some nice days like last week to enjoy the sunshine but no, start Mat leave and it rains non stop!
Actually one of my first jobs might be ice the cake I made last night then can have a brew and some cake, while I write my listsGrin

Maryrobinson81 · 25/09/2019 10:03

@secretlyhermione one up one down is a winner. I never really worked this out with my first nobody told me! but with the second 2 babies it was all I did. I liked H&M nursing vests and in fact have worn them ever since for 7 years at night time as they have the light support. Not comfy in anything else at night now! Also just plain spaghetti strap vests also just as good, and if you can find them with stretchy straps even better (m&s?).
Also Facebook group can I breastfeed in it as mentioned is brilliant, as is the boob or bust page for bra sizing - it literally changed my boob life like I’d had a boob job!

SC0508 · 25/09/2019 10:21

@CarysRed congratulations, hope you are both doing well!

36weeks today and I am ready for this baby to come out already, my acid reflux has been extremely worse the last few days and every time I eat anything I end up none stop coughing afterwards which makes me feel like I am going to be sick luckily I ain't.

This is my first week on mat leave and I have no motivation to do anything 🙁 really hoping I find some later so I can start to organise bedroom for when baby arrives.

Can't wait to see all the babies starting to arrive 🎉 exciting weeks ahead for all of us, my downstairs neighbour had her baby girl a few weeks back and every time I hear her cry just makes me more excited!

userabcname · 25/09/2019 10:23

@CarysRed huge congrats! He's gorgeous!

secretlyhermione · 25/09/2019 10:26

Thanks for all the suggestions!! Will def check them out :)

Frizzy1986 · 25/09/2019 10:29

@Frizzy1986 so jealous that looks amazing 😃

Jojo7979 · 25/09/2019 10:42

Catching up on everyone’s news after a busy day yesterday, went to see Downton Abbey with my mum and a walk around the shops to get some last minute bits.

Today I feel shattered, like all of you sleep is becoming a challenge. So much I want to do but struggling to be bothered to move off the sofa!

Made it to 37 weeks now so analysing every potential symptom, definitely have the same as some of you - discharge, back pain etc. Now also thinking about practicality of what happens if I go into labour, we have my OH daughter every other weekend, her mum isn’t the most helpful person and MIL lives 2.5 hour drive away. So lined up my parents to take me to the hospital if OH needs to stay with SD. Theoretically it’s unlikely that baby will arrive when SD is with us, but then I just keep thinking that is what will most likely happen. Maybe I’ve just got too much time to think 🤔🙈
