How's everyone doing today?

I feel so unorganised, I've bought everything (I think) and have it all at home but everything is still in the box 😂 OH keeps telling me I really need to pack my hospital bag as there has been a few times we have worried it's all away to begin 😂.
DS was born on due date so I really hope this baby doesn't stay in there that long 😂 so ready to not be pregnant anymore.

Got to meet my health visitor this morning that was really nice, was nice to get told all the information that has changed since having DS and on a plus she was really lovely my last one was absolutely horrible and really shouldn't of worked with kids.

Told myself I would start building things today after doing a house clear out over the weekend (nesting went crazy) but instead I went back to bed and napped for 3hrs once health visitor left 😂

Figuringitout · 24/09/2019 14:40

@Frizzy1986 - I know, I’ve probably jinxed myself now!! I have also made (flexible) plans for Thursday so hoping baby stays put until then.
It’d be nice if it came on Friday and then we can have a family weekend! If only it was that simple 😁

Frizzy1986 · 24/09/2019 14:46

@figuringitout I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I don't think you can't jinx it don't worry. Baby has probably alreadfdy decided when it's going to make it's appearance, it's just not telling anyone yet!

I'd be happy for the baby to come out any time now. Tomorrow would be good as dd is booked in for after school club which means she doesn't need collecting until 5:30pm at the latest so gives a bit more time for the PIL to sort getting her etc.

Figuringitout · 24/09/2019 14:52

@Frizzy1986 - It’s a funny limbo isn’t it? It feels like a weird period of calm before the storm!! I don’t really mind when the baby comes, but I also don’t feel like trying to hurry it along (well, not yet anyway. If I’m still pregnant this time next week I might have changed my tune!)

Em39ma · 24/09/2019 15:55

Afternoon all. Just had another scan and consultant appointment.
I’m being induced next Wednesday, 2nd October.
Will be 37+4 by then. I better get everything sorted now.

MrsNotNice · 24/09/2019 15:57

I slept for long today. What’s up with me. All I want to do is just sleep.

CarysRed · 24/09/2019 15:58

Very thick and jelly like. Slight tinge of green to it. Loads of cramps too, so something is definitely getting started!!

MrsNotNice · 24/09/2019 16:00

CarysRed Ooooooooohhhh looks great!

I had mucus plug and bloody show 3 days before my labour last time . There was like streaks of blood in the mucus plug.

Good luck !

Frizzy1986 · 24/09/2019 16:11

@carysred how exciting. Definitely sounds like you are on your way. Can't wait to hear all about it. Make sure you rest as much as you can.
I'm totally not sitting here feeling jealous. 😂

SRK16 · 24/09/2019 16:46

@CarysRed sounds like things are happening!
@Em39ma glad you’ve got a date confirmed, must be a relief?

Another lazy day. Watching a lot of tv but did manage to clean out our junk draws. Had a lovely long nap.. not sure what to do with the rest of the day. Not appreciating the weather, my feet are so swollen that they don’t fit into any shoes apart from one pair of sandals, and I can’t wear them in the rain as they’re so slippy. Also can’t drive as no longer fit behind the wheel. Feel bored and trapped! My dad’s going to pop over tomorrow.. midwife on Thursday.. this week is going so slow but so fast at the same time.
Husband decided not to go to the football tonight just in case, which I appreciate even though I think there’s almost no chance of things starting.

cattaxi · 24/09/2019 19:41

Thanks @Em39ma and @Sw2102. DS Is more perky, but still getting spiking temps. I feel hot & nauseous, but that could just be the pregnancy. We’ve had a super quiet day, which has been nice.

@YorkshireIndie I find it difficult to sleep or sit when baby is on the move. He is so active & it’s so uncomfortable!

I definitely won’t miss being pregnant @Figuringitout. But, I think I’ll miss having the baby all to myself if that makes sense. At the moment, I feel like I’m the only one who knows him. And as much as I’m looking forward to him being on the outside with the rest of the family, I will miss something about it just being him & me.

That all sounds very promising @CarysRed.

Great that you have a date @em39ma. You could well have your baby by this time next week! How exciting. Definitely time to organise those last bits.

@MrsNotNice I’m the same. I could sleep & sleep!

@SRK16 I’m really hoping the weather stays mild so I can stay in my flip flops until after the baby comes. I struggle to get anything else on!

Hope everyone is ok tonight. It’s starting to look like we could be in for some babies on the thread soon 🙂 (not mine though!)

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 24/09/2019 19:57

Just popping in to see if anyone has bought or hired a tens machine? I don't know if I should get one?

MrsNotNice · 24/09/2019 20:07

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy Absolutely! It saved my life last labour. Just need to use it from the very start and build up otherwise it isn’t effective.

However you can’t take it into water pool I think. I wasn’t allowed water pool last time and I was on augmentation drips (oxytocin) and it absolutely was essential for me enduring the pain. Don’t hesitate

Ju5tAgirlstandinginfrontofaboy · 24/09/2019 20:13

Thanks @MrsNotNice I have hired what looks like a good one from Amazon x

Omg wrong thread ignore me 😅 I’ve reported

Maryrobinson81 · 24/09/2019 21:27

Hope everyone’s had a good day, I’m jealous of those who have managed to get a nap! Have had a busy day up at the farm clearing the big polytunnel, and then it was school run, making tea, bed time, and then made some chocolate courgette cake which is just finishing cooking. I’m done in, I really need to slow down but I’m struggling to let myself and feel guilt about what I could have achieved in the time.
Picking up the new car tomorrow though so that’s exciting! And I’ve booked a pregnancy massage for next week as I had a voucher for my birthday last month, I absolutely can’t wait for that! I’m finding it strange being without my children, I work full time so I’m either at work or with them usually! Hope everyone has a relaxing evening and good sleep tonight!

robodo · 24/09/2019 21:32

I've been lurking on this thread for ages but I'm 36+4 with first girl, they currently have portable tens machines on Groupon for under ten pounds

Slinkyreptile · 24/09/2019 22:11

Nice to hear everyone’s updates. Tossed and turned all last night due to sore hips so decided to have a pajama/chill day today with 17 month old DD. All was going well until I looked out into back garden and saw my cat carrying a mouse still alive ready for bringing it in through cat flap. I had image of mouse running free and me not in any fit state to get under furniture to catch it! Ran out barefoot and chased cat away with the hose. God knows what the neighbours thought 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

CarysRed · 24/09/2019 22:13

Just to update you all! I’m in labour. They’re happy to let it progress naturally but I’ve been given steroids for his lungs. Fingers crossed he’s here soon!

Frizzy1986 · 24/09/2019 22:18

@carysred I'm sure everything will be fine. My nephew was born at the exact same gestation after my sisters waters suddenly went one morning and she went into labour later that day.
He was in NICU for about 10 days as he was quite small and needed monitoring but they had no major concerns for him at all.
He's now an awesome 9 year old.

cattaxi · 24/09/2019 22:41

Good luck @CarysRed 💐

Come join us @robodo!

Courgette & chocolate cake sounds delish @Maryrobinson81! Do let yourself have a break though.

I’m having quite a bit of pain in my c-section scar tonight. It’s weird. Kind of a burning sensation. Nothing like contractions. I’ve got an appointment with the midwife tomorrow, so will ask her about it then. Has anyone else had similar?

AngeIoMysterioso · 24/09/2019 22:47

Had our third and final NCT session this evening- the breastfeeding one. Talk about an information overload... not entirely sure any of it sank in!
We watched which I thought some people here might find useful.

MrsNotNice · 24/09/2019 22:54

Good luck Carys!
Isn’t it interesting that the day you finalise the name and clean up the house you end up going into labour. It really does seem
Our instincts do wonderful things to give us a kick up the backside so we are ready.

My son was born 37+5 but was measuring around 34 weeks in weight. It’s not the same but he did have problems feeding as his jaw muscles weren’t completely developed.

What really helped was asking for a lactation consultant in hospital. She helped me immensely t train him to breastfeed and it took us around a week of trying different things like finger feeding and so on until he learnt.

I refused the bottle as I was worried about nipple confusion. Lactation consultants usuallu have alternatives.

Hope it goes well for you. Good luck

Maryrobinson81 · 24/09/2019 22:54

@CarysRed good luck, hope all goes well!
