Starting a new thread for all of us that find ourselves pregnant again after one or more heartbreaking losses. I know it is really hard to join a pregnancy thread after miscarriage and we all fear the worst will happen again, but let's go on this journey together and hold hands along the way.

This is a safe place for all the ladies on the first pregnancy missed miscarriage thread and for any newcomers who want to join - you are all most welcome! All of the ladies on here have suffered one or more miscarriages and most of us have had particularly difficult losses, such as mmc and other complications. You don't need to be pregnant again to join - you are also most welcome if you have had a loss and are trying again. But we will be sharing scan photos and details of the new pregnancies, in case anyone might find that to be triggering.

Tagging @Catconfusion @Amanda81 @Kiki061190 @3204ECL @Babypending @Ginmonkey84 @MrsMGE and please add anyone else I may have left off. Without further ado, let's start the roll call.

About me: Age 31, trying for my first baby. Previous mmc at 12 weeks in February (hb stopped at 9+4), this turned out to be a partial molar pregnancy and I was monitored by CX hospital for three months. CP in March.

Now 9 weeks, EDD in March, if I make it that long. Oscillating between hope and extreme anxiety every day!

@Kiki061190 how many weeks will you be when you go back? Just because I think you need to do the chromosomal testing before 14 weeks, if that’s something you want to do. They measure the neck fold and take blood then.

Catconfusion · 04/10/2019 13:24

Hey ladies. Baby is doing great. Measuring a day ahead at 12 + 5. Nuchal measurement was normal at 1.7mm. Mine was a monkey too @Kiki061190 it took ages to get it.

We saw the consultant and due to my age we will have extra growth scans later on. They also won't let me go beyond my due date so induction or c section before.

To say we're relieved is an understatement. We're so in love now! Xx

P.s I'll post properly later as we're just now having some lunch out to celebrate!

@sadtoday21 I’ll be over 14 weeks by then! They never said much about it but a friend of mines had to go back as well cause the baby was sitting awkward too.

Kiki061190 · 04/10/2019 13:26

@Catconfusion OMG I’m soooooo happy for you! What a beautiful picture ♥️♥️♥️♥️

sadtoday21 · 04/10/2019 13:47

@Catconfusion congratulations!! 🎉🎊🎈 Your baby is adorable and I’m so happy all is well. Enjoy your celebrations!

@Kiki061190 I don’t want to make you more anxious, but if it were me I would be a little concerned about not having the Down’s syndrome results. I could be wrong, but I think they only do the nipt up to 14 weeks and after that it’s the quadruple test which is less accurate. I’d push to be seen sooner if you can!

Wow what a lovely picture @Catconfusion that’s brilliant! x

Cazzy198 · 04/10/2019 18:53

@Catconfusion beautiful picture. Congratulations! ❤

Catconfusion · 04/10/2019 19:07

Thank you ladies, we're so happy.

I agree with @sadtoday21 @Kiki061190 that they should be taking the bloods and repeating the scan before 14 weeks. You won't be able to have the combined test after this point. They can do something called the quad test but it's not as accurate. You could pay privately for the NIPT test if you have the money. It would give you the sex of the baby too. I would call the midwife for some advice on it. I'm sure it will come out low risk whichever test you have but it's nice to have as much reassurance as possible. Xx

Kiki061190 · 04/10/2019 21:11

@sadtoday21 Unfortunately I can’t get it any quicker, that was the first appointment. I came back as low risk at the midwifes app which is maybe why they aren’t in a rush. They just said they wanted to bring me back and rescan me as they couldn’t give me an accurate due date. The more I think about it today the more I’m worried something was wrong and they never told me 😔

Kiki061190 · 04/10/2019 21:14

@Catconfusion I did think about paying for the test but my OH isn’t concerned in the slightest therefore he refuses to spend the money on it. He’s just convinced all is ok but I’m worried why they couldn’t even give me a due date roughly. The woman who scanned me was training and I understand she maybe doesn’t have the experience but now I’m worried they saw something was wrong and never told me. I asked if they heartbeat was all ok and if the baby was ok and they said yes but now I’m not convinced.

Catconfusion · 04/10/2019 21:31

@Kiki061190 I honestly think if there was something wrong they would have told you. They have a duty of care to give honest accurate information.

The midwife low risk result is more to do with your physical risks such as thrombosis and diabetes risk. The risk factor of the combined test is the risk of baby having a chromosomal issue such as downs. Your age might be a reason why they are a bit more blasé with you. Your chances are very good.

I appreciate you dp has seen baby move and looking healthy but the NT measurement is key in ruling out chromosomal issues. Without it all you have is your age related risk which granted is low but younger ladies sometimes have babies with downs or the other syndromes tested for albeit a much rarer occurrence than ladies my age.

If you are worried I really think the harmony would ease your mind. I know it's money but if you're going to be stressed out it's worth saving you that.

I would maybe contact the hospital again and say you're willing to come any time of day or night to get the scan done but you really want it before 14 weeks so you have have the tests. If not it's going to cause you a lot of stress. You could talk to PALS and make a complaint also that you're being denied testing you feel is very important for your mental health.

Just remember this uncertain time will pass and it's highly likely all will be well. I hope you find a solution! Xx

Catconfusion · 04/10/2019 21:43

@Kiki061190 also I bet they get loads of cancellations. As we know mcs mostly happen before 12 weeks so if they could put you on a waitlist surely an appointment would come up! X

sadtoday21 · 04/10/2019 22:52

@Kiki061190 I agree completely with everything @Catconfusion said. Seeing the hb and movement at the scan is a great sign, but it won’t tell you anything about chromosomal risks at this early stage. The harmony is really expensive, more than 400 pounds most places, but the NHS should really be giving you the nipt test before 14 weeks if you want it, as this is part of standard care. I wouldn’t accept anything less. Anyway, I’m sure you will be fine and as I said I don’t mean to worry you, but I think the midwives are being too blasé in your case and I wanted to be sure you had all the proper information xxx.

Catconfusion · 05/10/2019 04:23

@sadtoday21 @Kiki061190 the NIPT is not available on the nhs in most areas. The harmony is a type of NIPT. The combined test which is the free one works in a different way - by combining age, Nuchal fold measurement and hormone levels to give a risk level. The NIPT test measures foetal dna in the mother's blood so is far more accurate hence it being private.

We were told yesterday that if we come up high risk on the combined test we can pay £200 to have the NIPT (Harmony) on a private basis. In some areas is is more like £400 to £500 but our hospital subsidises it. There are a few areas that offer it free but as I understand it they are limited.

Just thought I'd make the distinction between the two tests clear. Xx

Kiki061190 · 05/10/2019 08:06

@sadtoday21 @Catconfusion I’m not going to let it worry me. I know you’re right about them being brushing it off as I’m only turning 29 next month. I’ve spoken to a couple of people who have had the same issue as me and have had no issues. If anything comes back as high risk I’ll take it from there. Glad I get to see baby again 2 weeks on Monday 👶🏼 Just hoping he or she is still ok then!

Catconfusion · 05/10/2019 10:04

@Kiki061190 if you're feeling positive and are able to wait to out that's good. You should have a pretty good idea in a couple of weeks. If anything was found worse case scenario you could always have an amnio if it's too late for non invasive testing. I'm sure your baby will be just fine and it's great you get another scan.

Just one day on I literally can't wait to see baby again. We have the EPAU in a couple of weeks. Then a couple of weeks after that we might book a gender scan. There's an offer at a clinic near us for £55. DH isn't too worried but I really want to know. We've looked up skull theory and have been trying to finger out the sex based on that. Xx

Kiki061190 · 06/10/2019 18:47

@Catconfusion When do you next see baba? I can’t wait to the 21st! Also thinking we will book a gender scan as well. A gal in my work recommended a place as I wasn’t a fan of the clinic who scanned me in my last pregnancy. They were so rough! How have you been feeling? I felt fine yesterday and today I feel nauseous again!

Catconfusion · 06/10/2019 19:13

@Kiki061190 I have an EPAU scan on the 19th Oct. We will probably have a gender scan too at 16ish weeks. I felt awful yesterday but luckily today I'm feeling a bit better for our anniversary. Hope you feel better soon! I'm feeling it ease a bit. I haven't been sick today so already have a bit more energy from keeping my food down. Xx

Kiki061190 · 06/10/2019 19:47

@Catconfusion have a fabulous anniversary! You deserve it ♥️ Glad you are feeling better.

sadtoday21 · 07/10/2019 11:57

@Catconfusion happy anniversary!! I hope you had a wonderful time. Glad you are starting to feel a bit better and not long until the 19th now! I definitely recommend the gender scan, it relieved my anxiety for a whole week and now its back again, but was worth it for that temporary reprieve!

@Kiki061190 how are you doing? Only two weeks to go until the scan now! Good that you are more relaxed about the testing than I was, you are right that all will probably come back as normal and it is great that you get an extra free scan out of it! Xxx

I'm 17+4 today and starting to feel the anxiety creeping back in a little after a week or so of relative calm. We had family visiting so that kept me busy and it felt great to feel more "normal" for a bit and not constantly anxious. But now they've gone and thoughts are drifting back to mounting anxiety over the upcoming scan. Going to see the midwife on Tuesday to hopefully hear the hb and then have the anatomy scan in just two weeks, so that should be enough to get me through it, in theory! I was just really hoping to have some movement by now, even just a little flutter, but I don't think I've had any. I know with an anterior placenta it can take longer, but I really really wish I could feel something soon!

How are you doing @3204ECL? Hope all is well and you are settling into a good pregnancy rhythm!

@Amanda81 I've been thinking about you and how close we are getting to your due date! Very exciting! What's new with you?

Hey @sadtoday21 - it's been a little busy here! Last week I had the Glucose Tolerance Test, the 28 week MW appointment and a 3D scan...followed by a trip up to Yorkshire (with the M1 shut) to see the family. It will have been our last trip up to Yorkshire before she arrives. Absolutely exhausted. Good news is that I don't have Gestational Diabetes, the test was absolutely fine, I'm now officially in the third trimester and there is no way I'm hiding this bump anymore 😂😂😂. I'm waiting for a new pregnancy pillow to arrive today as my hips are painful during sleep...but will all be worth it in the end. So, all in all, all good news here. So far, so good.

The scan pics from @Catconfusion and @Kiki061190 are just absolutely adorable (congrats guys!). I'm so very pleased for you both. Oh and I really hope that this is a sign that the symptoms are starting to fade @Catconfusion and that the 2nd trimester is a little easier on you.

How has the news of having a boy settled in for you @sadtoday21? It's such lovely news. I was also told that I had an anterior placenta around the 14-16 week mark, but actually my placenta is what they call fundal...and it's huge apparently. It's mainly on the back but it wraps around the sides and bottom and the top. This did impact upon the feeling of movement during the early stages of movement (day between wk 16-20), but once I got to 22/23 weeks it was very clear when she was moving. It will happen for you soon, and as soon as it does the anxiety will be lessened (I promise). It's helpful to have the small milestones...I too was panicked around your current stage and still felt it was going to be bad news...but you are almost half way now and it does get better. Have you bought anything yet? I resisted for so long, but as soon as I started to buy little things, it helped with the anxiety as my mind was starting to focus on the nice parts of preparation. Have a go. See how you feel. Even just a little pair of scratch mittens xx

Puppymum · 07/10/2019 19:15

It's really nice to see all you pictures and see such positive updates. It really does help :-)

I got my next scan through, next Tuesday - the 15th. Its at the main maternity depot which terrifies me. But as all my early scans have been fine I see why they feel confident to send me mainstream for the 12 week. Just fingers crossed I suppose.

Smiffette · 07/10/2019 19:39

Just stumbled across this thread...
I had a missed mc at 11+2 although was only measuring 6 weeks this was back in April. It was my first pregnancy, and at 35 I went to worst case scenario that this would be a long road to getting pregnant.

I am now 4 + 3 having got a positive on Friday. DH and I are soooo excited but I'm also incredibly anxious something will happen again especially as last time it was a missed mc. I was told that I wouldn't get an early scan I would just have to wait until the normal 12 wk one or go private.

Exciting to read so many of you are pregnant now 😃 I'm just praying the next 8 weeks goes quick! Although I haven't even seen the midwife yet, just completed the online form today.

Kiki061190 · 08/10/2019 07:42

@sadtoday21 Sorry to hear you are anxious again. I completely understand that feeling, I’m anxious for my next scan in case something is wrong with baby. It’s always hard. I’ve found stepping back from MN helps and I’ve been keeping busy and focusing on other things. I think if I get to my next scan and baby is ok I will feel a lot more at ease.

So12345 · 08/10/2019 17:56

Hey guys 👋 Hope you’re all doing ok today.

@Catconfusion I’m so glad to see that all went well at your scan.
@Smiffette if you would like an early scan you could try a different doc and tell them how anxious you feel. I am in same position as you and I am getting an early scan next Thurs.
