Starting a new thread for all of us that find ourselves pregnant again after one or more heartbreaking losses. I know it is really hard to join a pregnancy thread after miscarriage and we all fear the worst will happen again, but let's go on this journey together and hold hands along the way.

This is a safe place for all the ladies on the first pregnancy missed miscarriage thread and for any newcomers who want to join - you are all most welcome! All of the ladies on here have suffered one or more miscarriages and most of us have had particularly difficult losses, such as mmc and other complications. You don't need to be pregnant again to join - you are also most welcome if you have had a loss and are trying again. But we will be sharing scan photos and details of the new pregnancies, in case anyone might find that to be triggering.

Tagging @Catconfusion @Amanda81 @Kiki061190 @3204ECL @Babypending @Ginmonkey84 @MrsMGE and please add anyone else I may have left off. Without further ado, let's start the roll call.

About me: Age 31, trying for my first baby. Previous mmc at 12 weeks in February (hb stopped at 9+4), this turned out to be a partial molar pregnancy and I was monitored by CX hospital for three months. CP in March.

Now 9 weeks, EDD in March, if I make it that long. Oscillating between hope and extreme anxiety every day!

Hi guys

I’m brand new here. I had a MC in December 2018 at 6 weeks. I know I was lucky to have such an early MC with v little pain, but it hurt us. We have been TTC ever since, but have not been lucky... possibly until now...

I am looking for some advice because I have had brown spotting every day since day 21 of my cycle (now on day 29). I took a test yesterday and it was faint positive. I have had no pain or other symptoms except sore boobs. I can’t get excited because last time I spotted all the way through until I eventually had a proper bleed and MC. At the time the doc said spotting totally normal, but online I see much more mention of MC, Ectopic and other scary things.

I don’t really know what I’m hoping anyone will say, but you know how it feels when you are so wrapped up in TTC and then you feel like it may not ‘take’. I feel like a crazy lady feeling my boobs all the time, because when I had my MC my boobs immediately stopped hurting.

Big hugs to all the rest of you going through this.

So12345 · 29/09/2019 12:03

I know how you feel, and you’ve had a tough time of it- poor you. All I can say, which is what I’ve tried to tell myself, is that if your baby is strong and healthy then your pregnancy will last. If it’s meant to be it’ll be, and if not, all the worrying in the world won’t help it. So maybe try to get yourself somewhere distracting- on a walk, to the cinema, out with your family.
Big hugs and fingers super crossed that you’ll see your baby next year!
X

So12345 · 29/09/2019 12:07

@mininionsteve I did try to reply there to you but I am rubbish at the tech cos I’m new 😂

sadtoday21 · 29/09/2019 12:16

Thanks @bananamonkey @Kiki061190 @Amanda81 @3204ECL @Catconfusion!!! I'm so happy really, just woke up and said hello to my little boy this morning, all feels more real now and cannot wait to tell my side of the family today.

I thought I'd do a proper catch-up on this rainy Sunday morning since I haven't been on for a little while and busy with work. Thinking of you all!

@Catconfusion how many days now until your 12 week scan? Hope the hip and back pain is improving a bit, as well as your tummy! Won't be long until the second trimester now and I'm sure you will be feeling much better then.

@Kiki061190 only 4 days to go, whoo-hoo! How are you feeling? How long has it been since your last scan? Thinking of you Xxx.

@Amanda81 not long to go now! I bet you are counting the days until December! Any bad third trimester symptoms? Have you bought anything else for the baby? I really want to, but I am still forcing myself not to buy anything, but I keep ogling cute sleepsuits everywhere in the shops!

@3204ECL so great to hear from you, really glad you are doing so well! It's so wonderful that you feel regular movement now and your anxiety has reduced. Thanks also for the tip on the anterior placenta - I'm not expecting to feel proper movement for awhile, but I did wonder when I might start to feel those "flutterings," particularly now I've hit 16 weeks. It's odd though, surely if I have an anterior placenta it would have been more difficult for the midwife to find the hb at 14 weeks? I would have thought it muffled everything, but it seems maybe just muffling the movement for now. Anyway, glad you are doing so well and getting so big! When is your EDD?

@bananamonkey thanks for the heads up! Good to know that its normal not to feel anything for a little while still. I guess anterior placenta is fairly normal. How are you doing these days? Hope all is well!

To all the newcomers, I hope you find this thread as helpful and comforting as I have. All the ladies on here are absolutely lovely and a source of inspiration for me. A lot of people seem to just post on here when they have a problem or as a one-time thing, but if you do stick around it would be lovely to get to know you both! We all totally understand the anxiety that comes with pregnancy after mc, but we also try to stay as positive as possible and help each other get through it!

@mininionsteve Welcome! I know exactly how you feel and it’s just torture. It might be worthwhile for you to contact your EPAU if you are feeling anxious and they may offer you a scan due to your previous losses. Do you have your 12 week scan booked?

@So12345 Hi there! I’m so sorry you’re stuck in a period of uncertainty just now. I hope you get some clarity soon. Do you know when you ovulate? If not maybe give it a couple of days and see if AF shows up and if not test again as you should have a stronger positive if so.

Kiki061190 · 29/09/2019 12:22

@sadtoday21 I am so so nervous. I’ve convinced myself something is wrong and there’s no HB. My symptoms have eased off and I’m just so so nervous. I remember leading up to your 12 week scan you felt similar. How did you get through it?!

Catconfusion · 29/09/2019 12:36

Hey @Kiki061190 it's not been good unfortunately. The new drugs that doctor gave me have given me constant stomach ache. Plus I'm still vomiting a lot. I'd hoped it might be a bit better by now. How are you feeling? Xx

@3204ECLGreat to hear from you. Really glad you're feeling less anxious now. Amazing you're so far along too. The sickness is pretty gruelling if I'm honest but I'm hopeful it will pass. I'm 12 weeks now and have my dating scan this week so a bit of an anxious time. All has been well at previous scans so we're hopeful there will be no surprises. Xx

@mininionsteve I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety. Just remember it's a different pregnancy and your chances are very good. Not long until the dating scan so if you're feeling an earlier scan will be difficult you at least don't have long. Hopefully we can all offer support on this thread in the meantime. Xx

@So12345 I think if I was you I'd ask the GP for progesterone. There's been some research suggesting it can help prevent mc if there is spotting after previous losses. I haven't had spotting but my GP gave me it based on my previous losses. It's worth a shot. It could still just be part of implantation. Fingers crossed for you! Xx

So12345 · 29/09/2019 12:39

@kiki061190 Hey 👋I’m pretty sure I’m pregnant- it all adds up (although I have irregular periods, so hard to be sure re ovulation), but it’s just whether I manage to carry or not. The docs really aren’t interested in me, because they just say ‘at least we know you can get pregnant’.

So12345 · 29/09/2019 12:41

@Catconfusion Thanks for the advice. I have wondered about progesterone before. If I don’t need it could it do any harm I wonder 🧐 Sorry to read you’re not doing so well at the moment. How far along are you?

Catconfusion · 29/09/2019 12:43

@sadtoday21 that's so lovely. So pleased for you. My hips and back are surprisingly fine but then I've not been well enough to do much so they are well rested. I have a feeling they might play up later on though. Scan is Friday so 5 more sleeps. It couldn't come quickly enough! Xx

@Kiki061190 virtual hand hold! I'm feeling pretty nervous too. I stupidly read some of the threads on antenatal tests and stuff that sometimes goes wrong. I guess I like to know what worse case scenarios are but it's got me a little worried. Anyway our chances are very good, especially since we've been scanned recently and there were no problems. A lot of people who get a shock at the dating scan haven't been scanned before. The chance of no heartbeat is really slim after seeing one so late as we did. Anyway it's still a worry despite the likelihood of it being good news. Just think, this time next week we'll have a good idea things are ok. Xx

So12345 · 29/09/2019 12:43

@Catconfusion Also, is this something I can get on the NHS? I am not sure if you are in USA or UK. X

mininionsteve · 29/09/2019 12:43

Thank you @Kiki061190 and @So12345

I'm trying to not think about it but it's all consuming at the moment, even with my three year old covering himself in sharpie!!

I've only just self referred to the midwife as I didn't want to tempt fate. Haven't heard from her so no date as yet. At least it's October on Tuesday so getting closer.

I went to the drs with some pains a few weeks ago and they had no intention of referring me to epau so it seems a bit pointless trying again. Il try and be patient.

Sorry I know this is a positive place I just feel so negative about it all today. Hopefully it's just my hormones taking over!

Catconfusion · 29/09/2019 12:47

@So12345 thank you, I'm 12 weeks and the sickness has been really bad. Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful to be pregnant but it's hard as some days I can't get out of bed.

Progesterone is totally safe even in higher levels, it's low that's dangerous in pregnancy. They don't even waste time testing you as low progesterone is hard to diagnose. It's unlikely I have it as I had no spotting but the doctor said worth trying as a precaution. I'd see the doctor tomorrow if you can and ask. Some GPs won't prescribe but it's a very cheap and safe drug so try a different doctor if you don't have any luck

Catconfusion · 29/09/2019 12:49

@So12345 yes I'm in the UK with an NHS GP. She was happy to prescribe it but I know some are awkward about it. Look up the Tommy's Prism Trial and show the GP as there's definitely evidence to support prescribing it.

Kiki061190 · 29/09/2019 12:57

@Catconfusion Yes! Let’s get each other through! ♥️ I was scanned 11 days ago and I’m so annoyed at myself for letting anxiety take over. I wish I could fast forward the next few days and know one way or another. Sorry that your new drugs are making you feel rotten! I really hope your sickness eases up. I’m feeling better, symptoms are easing. I was a little sick yesterday but apart from that I’ve been ok. Although I seem to be having a bout of insomnia just now, have you experienced this?

@So12345 I hate when GPs ect dismiss concerns. It’s actually so disheartening to hear women not getting the care they deserve, especially after loss!

@mininionsteve I can’t believe the GP disregarded you after saying you had pain. I had similar pains and was referred to the EPAU immediately and scanned. It seems that there is an inconsistency in how women are treated. I was much like you and self referred later on as I didn’t want to tempt fate!

mininionsteve · 29/09/2019 13:11

@Kiki061190 it seems that because I have had no spotting that she felt confident it was fine. It seems blood. is the key to open the door to the epau for me. The second I had a tiny bit of spotting with ds1 they sent me in (different dr) I think there would be a full on meltdown if that occurs at this point!

I'll just try to be patient and hope that no blood is a good thing.

So12345 · 29/09/2019 13:12

@kiki061190 The doc dismissed me a few months back when I went with super painful periods and weird bloating/pregnancy like symptoms prior. He suggested I was only there because I’m TTC and prescribed me with anti inflammatory meds and explained to me what periods are and what the pain feels like (?!) and that men get period like pains to with sore muscles etc 😂😂😂😂😂😂
If I hadn’t just been up all night in so much pain I was sick I would have laughed. So I’m not expecting much help from dinosaur doc, but there is a woman at the practice, so maybe she’ll be more useful 😂

So12345 · 29/09/2019 13:13

@Catconfusion As soon as I became PG last time I found it more difficult to sleep, and sleep’s always been a talent of mine. Hormones? Probably worry for you too?

Catconfusion · 29/09/2019 13:13

@Kiki061190 I know right! It's 8 days since I was scanned. DH has said he suspects not much will have changed in that time apart from growth. Baby was looking pretty well formed. But still it's triggering.

Urgh it's pretty frustrating really. I'm up in the night with the sickness so not sure I have insomnia as such just frustration at being tired and feeling too ill to sleep. Sorry to hear you're not sleeping well. Hopefully after Thursday you'll feel more relaxed.

We can totally get through this week. Only 4 sleeps for you. I think the scan is the hardest part. I'm a little concerned about the test results but I'm prepared for high risk due to my age. If I am we'll then have the wait for the harmony results. As long as the scan looks good though I'll try not to worry too much as they can tell a lot from the scan. Xx

So12345 · 29/09/2019 13:15

I don’t want anyone to think I’m disappearing as someone mentioned before, but I’ll drive myself mad checking this thread all the time. So I’m limiting myself to small times in a day... so speak later on :-)

Catconfusion · 29/09/2019 13:20

@mininionsteve I think it's bad you can't get an early scan for mental health reasons. I've had 3 early scans at my EPAU just based on the previous missed miscarriage. No bleeding or symptoms as such. Could you call the EPAU and see if you can self refer? That's if you feel up to a scan.

Kiki061190 · 29/09/2019 14:04

@Catconfusion I have a feeling you won’t come back as high risk! I have faith. I’m have restless legs at night which is odd and it’s stopping me from being comfortable. I know 4 sleeps seems crazy. We can definitely get through. Thankfully I’m busy Monday and Tuesday after work so I’m hoping that will pass the time.

fringeandtrainers · 29/09/2019 15:46

Hi all - i'm new here! just had a faint positive after a miscarriage in August. No period in between so thought my cycles were messed up.
Don't know how to calculate it - coming up to 6 weeks I think?
How does everyone cope with the huge anxiety at the beginning/doubting it/getting over that hurdle of every twinge.

Added to that, I may be moving in a week or so, which means signing up to a new GP and I presume self referring again? Can I self refer to the MW at the hospital nearer to where i'm living before i've signed up to a GP?

Is/Was anyone else in a similar position?
Thanks so much x

3204ECL · 29/09/2019 15:53

@sadtoday21 my EDD is 4th Feb. When is yours? It think with the anterior placenta it depends how high or low it is as to if it affects hearing/feeling things. The heartbeat was quite muffled at my 1st midwife appointment. At your 20 weeks scan they'll check the height and as you grow it generally moves up as well.

@Catconfusion so sorry you're still struggling with sickness, really hope it eases for you soon.

@Catconfusion and @Kiki061190 Not long now until your scans, I remember the anxiety so clearly and it was really tough. Thinking of you both this week.

xxx

bananamonkey · 29/09/2019 16:18

I’m ok @sadtoday21 I’m just in that limbo waiting for my scan a week tomorrow, time is passing at a snail’s pace!

I’m really struggling with tiredness at the moment, work has suddenly gone overwhelmingly busy and the rest of the time is taken up with a toddler so I don’t have the luxury of naps and I’m knackered all the time! I’m sleeping badly which is the opposite of what I need and exercise is a distant memory 😫

Welcome @So12345 and @mininionsteve sorry you find yourself here and that you’ve crap experiences with Drs, it’s so hit and miss.
